Sketches in Thyme #534 and Farmquest.

Here's the last sketch for the month at Sketches in Thyme.

I've used 3 old photos from waaaaaay back in 1979. We went to Sea World.

I moved the circle to the right, so that I could use that swirly chipboard heart with long tendrils that spread across the page. I had 3 photos so used them all. The colour of the deck in the photos dictated my colour scheme. I think the peach colour scheme worked on here.

At Farmquest they want camping.

I made a layout using some old polaroids I had. This was a camping weekend back in 1971 when we first got our licenses. We did it on a budget, taking all our own food etc and sleeping on air mattresses on the ground.

Make the cards challenge. #64 and Daring cardmakers

I was recommended a new card site which is Make the cards challenge.

This current challenge is to use washi tape on a card. I have several rolls of Christmas themed washi so did stripes of them across the middle of the card, including one row saying Merry Christmas. I then glued some angel wings I had in the centre. It all matched nicely, and the green card provides a good contrast.

This set me off making a group of washi taped square cards:

This next one is for Daring cardmakers

Alphabet challenge blog and Sweet stampin'

Today I made a card based around the theme of magic. It is a Christmas card and I used a Kaisercraft stamp of Santa flying. There are lines on the stamp to show movement.

The chipboard frame matches the green so well and I added washi tape along the bottom to hold my sentiment.

I'm entering this on Alphabet challenge blog where it is M for magic.

I'm also entering it on Sweet stampin challenge

Sketches in Thyme 533

This is sketch 533 at Sketches in Thyme.

I've finished my kit for this month but have groups of photos from Norfolk Island still to scrap.

We visited the Sirius Museum which featured remnants from the ship after it was wrecked on the rocks in 1790. There was part of the ship as well as cannonballs, nails, the sextant, anchors, cannons etc. In fact over 6,000 items in total. It was extremely interesting.

My photos are bigger but I followed the sketch as much as I could.

Lasting Memories

At Lasting memories this week, they want us to use Embellishments we don't normally use.

For me it is chipboard. I don't own much and to be honest, I forget to use it. It is in a drawer so out of sight out of mind!

On this layout I have used a gift shaped chipboard which I inked in blue. I alluded to the fact that retirement is a gift which I treasure!

My photo was taken on a holiday.

Christmas Kickstart challenge and ABC Christmas.

I've decided to get started on Christmas cards.

My first is for Christmas Kickstart challenge  ,where they want us to focus on home for the holidays.

In my case I just want my daughter to come home as she lives 3 hours away.

I've used Couture Creations Highland Christmas range on here, plus some matching music ribbon.

My next card is for ABC Christmas challenge where it is S for snow and T for tree.

I've chosen tree and used a die cut from the same range featuring Santa decorating a Christmas tree. I used the same ribbon and background card.

My 3rd Christmas card is for Cardz4guyz where they want distressing.

Using my Making Memories distressing tool, I layered 2 different festive papers then some mulberry paper with wrinkles already on it. I added a festive tag plus 2 black brackets and here you have it.

Through the craft room door and Cupcake inspirations

Sometimes we need a fairly plain card for a birthday, so here's one I made from an offcut of scrapbooking paper.

I'm entering it at Through the craft room door.

Then at Cupcake Inspirations they want safari animals.

I found an elephant picture so used it on this card.

2 different sized "O"s but it was all I had.

Scrap our stash.

My next layout is for Scrap our stash and uses their September sketch.

I had a busy blue floral paper so used it as my background, with 2 plain matting papers.

One of the men has a red jumper so I picked up that as my embellishments. My journalling is on 2 small travel themed cards on the left-hand cluster.

I still think that floral paper is too busy but at least I have used it now. Another one I put in my kit for that exact reason.

Male Room

At The male room we are asked to make a male card based on a song.

I've used an old picture cut from a picture dictionary of a man fixing a bicycle. So, my song is "Bicycle" by Queen.

I've used the other part of the striped paper from my previous card plus some spotted strips and matching sentiment.

Challenge #2 Lace it up. and Scrap the girls.

Our second challenge at Counterfeit kit is "lace it up".

They want something laced up. It could be shoes or bindings or in my case a corset.

After scalloping around the edge of the floral paper I glued it to plain green card.

I tore a part of the floral paper, then added a lace edging. Then using brads and thin ribbon, I laced it up.

I've also used "Autumn lane" flowers on here plus some vintage daisy lace from my sister's wedding dress. I added more of the green lace behind the flowers and a vellum butterfly. The title is stamped.

I'm also entering this at Scrap the girls where I was inspired mainly by the colours. The cotton reels made me think of sewing, which it turn meant my daughter.

Also, while I had the greens out, I made this card for 2 different challenges.

At Alphabet challenges it is L for leaves. I used 2 skeleton leaves which were in my kit.

And at Craft Rocket challenges it is dots and /or stripes. I used both on here and the stick -on brad even had stripes as well.

Stick it Down double page and white with one

My next layouts are for the double page challenge at Stick it down.
I used the same patterned paper on both with strips of lime then 2 rows of washi tape. I also matted in dark green and spread my alphas across the 2 pages.

I followed the sketch as much as I could with the embellishments, tags etc. There are flowers and butterflies on both pages to tie it in together.
Here are the 2 separate pages

********************************************************************************

I've also made a layout for Sketches in Thyme.

I'm combining it with white with one where the colour is purple.

The chicken wire background behind the dragonfly inspired me to mist through a similar mask I own.

The circular items made me think of buttons.

I started by looking through my purple tones scrap bag and found strips of lilacs and purples. The sketch was an ideal way to use them.

Lasting memories and Challenge yourself.

 I'm combining 2 challenges here.

The first is Lasting memories where they want us out of our comfort zone with pattern.

In my case is this brown flocked velvet very busy paper. I'd shoved to the bottom of the pile never to see the light of day, but paired with the lime green cardstock, it works!

The other challenge is Challenge Yourself where it is celebrate the good times.

While we were on holidays, we went to a wine tasting lunch which was delicious. The wines are actually made on Norfolk Island, so were very special.  We toasted ourselves by saying "cheers".

When gluing that title on I put one "E" slightly crooked on purpose, hinting at us being tipsy! (In truth we only tasted a few sips). The larger bird wood veneer is from this month's kit and so is the green cardstock.

It's a horrible photo of both of us but it's the only ones I have.

Tuesday 13 September 2022

Jumpstart challenge at Scraproom.

I've been in a fug since the Queen died but have decided to keep on scrapping.

My next layout is for Jumpstart challenge at The Scraproom.

I matted a shaped paper on white background. I used 2 other green papers for my layering and darker green for the mats. My tags flowers and alphas are all from my kit. The chipboard flower is inked with sage. The lace daisies are from my sister's wedding dress, 49 years ago.

After posting this, I realised it was an old sketch and not the current one. Oh well, another page scrapped!

Sketch and scrap

This morning I have done a layout for Sketch'n'scrap's monthly challenge.

I'm now working on Norfolk Island photos, so this was a ghost tour we did. The "ghost" was our tour guide and took us around the convict ruins. It was lots of fun!

I used skeleton leaves (appropriate I thought) and a random moth that I had in my stash.

Thursday 8 September 2022

Airport layout.

Inspired by a challenge for colour blocking on paper Issues I started on this. It was one of those layouts that change as you go along.

I had 3 photos taken at Sydney airport before flying to Norfolk Island plus the boarding passes. I made a pocket for those to go into and used the smallest photo on the pocket.

The other 2 photos I tilted across the bottom half of the layout which covered over most of the strips I had used. So, it has become "just another layout".

Wednesday 7 September 2022

A busy day on the racetrack.

I've made a double layout to finish my Country Towns album.

That string of little cars is a banner I have had for literally years and it was just perfect for photos of the raceway.

Tuesday 6 September 2022

Lasting Memories

At Lasting Memories they asked us to scrap using a colour we don't like or don't normally use.

Mine is pink!

Despite having a daughter, I don't use pink very often and it is becoming obvious, as I have a huge pile of pink papers that I actually avoid!

These photos called for circles, so I found this bright pink paper in my stash. I even used a pink glittery washi tape. (Where did that come from?)

*******************************************************************************

I'm just adding in another layout completed for my Country town album.

This one is Blayney which was freezing the morning I was there, so I didn't linger, I basically took a few photos then drove on.

Using the sign at edge of town as my Title I managed to fit 5 photos on here.

I've also used 2 brads one big and one little , a flower, and a set of arrows .

Monday 5 September 2022

Autumn colours

I did another layout this morning

I uncovered a tag I made a few years ago and it worked on this. I've also used the big doiley from my kit.

The small embellishment saying Keep cosy was another random find and I'm glad it found a home on here. It was a quick layout but fun to do.

Sunday 4 September 2022

Cardz 4 Galz and C.R.A.F.T. challenge

I started the day by making a card. At Cardz4galz they wanted 3 of something.

I had a small piece of graphic 45 fairy paper so used 3 fairies in a row on here.

The background is white Mulberry Paper which I inked around the edges with sage ink. My sentiment is a piece of washi tape.

************************************************************************************

Then at C.R.A.F.T. challenge they want Shabby Chic.

I painted some tiny Prima flowers with pink, then used doileys,  plus 2 pale blue tassels on this card.

The butterfly and patterned paper matched the tassels and tiny Prima flowers added some contrast.

Freaky Fast formula and stash challenge.

I decided to place all these strips horizontally, overlapping some. This provided a large background for my 2 photos.

After adhering my papers, I decided to add a few things I had on my desk.
A short piece of lime green ribbon. A negative frame from some Jillibean soup hexagons, some enamel dots and those 3 bottle caps.
They suited the theme of this layout and I have had them for over 15 years, so wanted to use them. Hooray!

Now for a second layout.

I've used C=clusters L=layers A= alphas S= stickers S=string.

I had fun with one and everything on here is from my kit except the record player.
