Freaky fast challenge plus one word challenge

Here's the May freaky fast formula at the Scrap room and at Soul Scrappers they have a one-word challenge using the letters P, E or G. AS I was putting this together, I realised EAT would be a great title as this was on the wall in the dining room of our cruise ship.

I finally used those brads I've had for 4 years too!

Now here's my layout.

I'm also pleased I could use some of the ribbon lace I put in my kit.

INSD layouts

My next layout is a scraplift of Laurie's Halloween layout at Counterfeit Kit.

I'm please because I recycled a corrugated card piece as one of my frames plus the circle under "enjoy" was a dress tag. The knife and fork were good to find a home for as well.

I used paler colours to emphasise the photo of course.

This next one is for Counterfeit Kit again. Some of the things on here are from my kit.
The cupcake paper is vellum.

Also I just discovered

First 2 layouts

My first layout for the new kit is this one.

I turned the sketch sideways to accommodate my landscape photos.

We recently went to the Royal Easter show and one of my favourite parts was the district exhibits where the farmers display their produce. These 2 photos show it well.

My second layout was for a challenge at Paper Issues.

May Counterfeit Kit 2026

The kit we are counterfeitting is this

.Mom's Kitchen Mega Bundle - Echo Park Paper Co plus the add ons.

https://echoparkpaper.com/new/new-collections/moms-kitchen/

This reminded me so much of a kit we did in May 2021. I guess what goes around comes around.

My Kit
KITCHEN CAPERS

That fact made me start in a weird way. I had some brads left from that previous time, so started by finding those.
There are teapot, cup, measuring jug, cookie jar. Plus, several red and black round or square brads.

Next,
 I looked for papers

I matched as best I could. There's papers with lobsters, carrots and pineapples!

I also had some fruity 6x6 papers

There are strawberries, raspberries, apples and cherries.

My embellishments contain quite a mixture.

I include the Simple stories stickers "Hello Summer" as I'm still scrapping cruise photos.

There are some journal tags I made using the fruit papers, red lolly bags, a darkroom door lolly strip, old fashioned lace with ribbon threaded through it, a cupcake sticker and doileys.

It should be an interesting month.

A big welcome to our guest designer, Debbie Barton.

I am very honored and excited to guest design for May’s Counterfeit Kit Challenge! Scrapbooking, to me, is not only a challenge and stress reliever, but a happy way to remember and put on paper the joys, challenges, and fun in my daily life.

When I began scrapbooking, in the 70’s & 80’s for school memories, the big thing was cutting out pictures and gluing them into photo albums. I then thought that adding stickers and cutting out frames really made my books super special. Putting as many pictures and stickers as possible on a page was the best. And who didn’t love a collage! ;0

I stopped scrapping while raising 2 kids, getting my Music Education degree and my Masters in Music. I taught choir and music for quite a time and just loved my students. After retirement, my hubby and I moved to SC in 2016. We played at living on the lake with swimming, boating and just relaxing for a bit along the way. We traveled when we could and enjoyed the “big” (boring?) retirement life, esp in 2020. I was blessed to discover several online scrapping groups which were actually not only sanity savers but life savers. When I was able to travel to crops and classes, I jumped on board and now have to remember to stay home. I have taken classes with so many amazing teachers. Totally crafty heaven! Recently I have been given a chance to be on a creative team with the wonderful ScrapHappy Team. Great ladies. So many ideas and talents.

I enjoy working on both new and old mixed media techniques and learning new ways to work with my paper products. I recently realized that I do not need every new & sparkly thing. I can make my own papers and embellies! What a fabulous discovery! I hope you are enjoying this month’s challenges!

Lasting Memories SCRAPS challenge.

Lasting Memories newest challenge is to use scraps to make a layout. This one is a Christmas layout and features Annabelle my great niece.

On here I used scraps of patterned paper, some vintage laces that I only had a small pieces of. I also had a couple of random flowers to finish off a set so put those on as well.

The scrapmatts chipboard and music stamp weren't scraps but add to my overal look of the layout.

Lasting memories stars or hearts challenge.

The challenge at Lasting Memories is to use stars or hearts.

My daughter had this photo of Tiffany's store in New York so I went with the sparkly idea and chose stars.

I decided to make a shaker box using glitter (my pet hate). After constructing it and adhering to the background layer, I stamped stars around the frame. I kept my other embellishments to a minimum so the shaker box would stand out.

Alphabet challenge and Snarky stampers.

Today I have made this card for Alphabet challenge.

We could use any animal, so I chose a kookaburra.

I fussy cut out the bird then adhered him to the background. I used 2 different papers on this as I'm using scraps

While I had the scissors out I made a second card. This one is for The sisterhood of snarky stampers. .

They want a Happy Birthday card. I used a platypus picture on this card and framed it with a darker blue.

Bash those scraps at Sketch and Scrap.

At Counterfeit Kit challenge I have finished my kit. I only had a few small embellishments left over.

 I made some white tags.

Then I turned them into tags using my embellishments.

From there I made 2 cards. First one is for Sketch and Scrap.

Here's the other one.

White with one.

At White with one we are asked to use red, blue or yellow. I chose yellow.

I decided to scrap this church I saw in Mexico. The altar was painted gold and very beautiful.

Using a mask I painted through a hexagon pattern.I stamped lightly with a memories stamp. I matted my photos in grey. I found strips of yellow papers from my kit. I used a border punch on one. Then I added a small journal tag plus 2 tabs. My title is in gold as well.

Li'l red wagon

Li'l red wagon are celebrating Earth day and want us to recycle or reuse.

I saw this idea on a facebook post and decided to try it.

I've used branding strips from scrapbooking paper and made a card with a patchwork feel.

It took lots of gluestick and some patience but turned out quite good I thought.

Grunge layout.

I've had this photo since November waiting for the mood to strike me. Now my counterfeit kit is finished I got busy this morning.

It was a group of ATV vehicles I saw in Aruba. I started by inking the edges of the Kraft background paper.I found some grey paper and matted the photo. I also located a few scraps to suit, including a piece of corrugated card. The packet of cogs is from Memory Maze so I inked those and arranged them on my page. I added a large black brad and a slice of wood from a tree die cut. My ATV title was the last thing to go on here.

Lasting Memories

The current theme at lasting memories  is to use either die cut or stamped alphas.

On this layout I used black and white die cut letters.

I used Kraft as my background then stamped a pattern across my background. There are 2 doileys behind my photo. I added washi tape strips then my title. I finished up with a couple of chalkboard words I had plus some tickets.

Today's efforts

The last canal layout-leaving the canal). I used 2 Jillybean soup papers and a stencil tag I won. (Just the basic facts). I doodled a border around words on the layout to make them stand out more.

There is also ricrac and washi tape across the bottom This was the B side the other side was bright orange.

Sketches in Thyme plus two others

Here's the sketch I used.

I had a second photo of the life ring so cut it out and popped it behind the photo to become one of the circles. Using embroidery thread I stitched through it to look like rope.

The filmstrip is from darkroom door and the wood veneer is from Kaisercraft. I had already made the tag I tucked behind the photo mat. The kaisercraft fish themed collectables were used up on here also.

Background paper is Basic Grey Bow ties. Here's some close ups.

I also made this layout today, just to use up the canal photos.

Plus this one of the Atrium on the ship. The mini tags were all used on this now, so that completed those. The card with the quote came in handy on here.

More little tags on here plus washi tape and some hearts from the thickers pack.

Craft Rocket

At Craft Rocket challenges they're having a layering challenge.

I like those because you can use up bits and pieces.

For this card I have4 layers, The yellow then the green floral, then the green vellum and finally the daisy picture and the white rhinestones. I repurposed the sentiment from an old Christmas card.

This will sell for Mother's Day.

Challenge Yourself

This is the current challenge at Challenge YOUrself.

I've had this photo of myself since I first stepped on the cruise ship. I walked to the front of the ship and had a Titanic moment! With both hands out in the air and facing the ocean I felt free and happy. (Couldn't believe I was actually there)

I used a chipboard chicken wire square and painted with dark blue and an ochre yellow colour through the same frame. Then I matted my photo and adhered the frame on top of my blue paper.I used 2 tags either side in a pale blue and pink. I also inked around the paper in brighter pink. I added trims on the mat using a border strip in pale orange and ribbon in a darker orange. The spotted card with my title also had 2 different coloured orange dots. That covers all the colours in the palette.

Just for fun, I added a chipboard flower with a dark blue painted flower on top. It was Spring when I went on my cruise so I can justify a flower. It also matches my top. Then I painted wave crests to make the blue look like the ocean.

Everything is straight on here. I had to photograph it outside as the layers are too thick to scan.

Love those pretty papers challenge.

I've made a floral card this morning. I kept it simple as it is a sympathy card.

I just added a piece of vintage lace under my message. Thought it would be nice for a woman recipient.

I'm entering it at Love those pretty papers challenge

Entering the canal

Here's another layout of the Camal using 3 photos showing the entrance and the locks.

I used a Becky Fleck sketch that I found on Pinterest.

Time out challenges

Today I'm making a couple of cards.

The first is for Time Out where the theme is sweet treats.

I found 2 ice creams and orange ribbon to match, so I made this card.

The other two cards were to use up some paper I had. Here they are:

Freaky fast formula

Here's the freaky fast formula at The Scraproom.

I used some offcuts plus part of my forged stamped paper on this layout.

The extras came from my kit. So, the journalling tag, the black and red flower, 2 flamingoes, subtitle cut from a journal card. The 6 small squares made a good mat for the top photo.

Throw back sketch at Scrap room.

I had 3 photos of the pool at the back of the boat (wake pool).. I used this sketch but had to arrange my 3 photos differently.

Paper Issues Clean Sweep

Today I made a simple layout for Paper Issues.

I've used the second blue waves paper as they work well with my cruise photos. Then I added a cluster of smaller embellishments from my kit with a sea theme. Also, a flamingo.

The alphas used up the greys and helped use up some blues too.

My photos are from Huatulco which is part of the Mexican Riviera and not far from Acapulco.

AS you can see, there is plenty of blank space top and bottom.
