Li'l red wagon

Li'l red wagon has a farm themed challenge.

This suited me as I had some left over sheep stickers which worked beautifully and after searching, I found the word "farm" from an old Kaisercraft set I bought several years ago.

It is a general card so I added no further sentiment.

Use your stuff Retro challenge

I'm on the design team at Use your stuff

The current challenge is Retro.

I immediately thought of a shop we visited in Cairns, where they had old fashioned lollies and other curios from the past. This led me to make this layout.

Hope you can join in the fun!

At Kraft plus this is the stimulus picture

I didn't use the colours in this as I don't have much pink etc but at least I joined in.

My photos are of 2 giraffes munching leaves, so I used the colours in the photo.

I've used 3 different masks and 2 shades of green paint plus brown paint to create my background. The white flowers were fussy cut from a sheet of patterned paper.
Then I doodled leaves and dots around the flowers and in some cases overlapping.

Mod Squad challenges.

I've made a butterfly card for Mod squad challenges.

It uses the last of my Anthology paper, which was only a scrap, plus another woodgrain scrap I had here.

I've made it a Get Well card for a neighbour who is sick. I've found during this lockdown that little surprises mean so much and kindness goes a long way.

I've also made this card using scraps, including the fairies from Graphic 45 as a thank you card.

I'm sure it will come in handy somewhere.

I'm entering it at A place to start.

Scrap room scrap lift.

I've used this layout as inspiration for my next project.

The ScrapRoom Blog: Show & Tell Saturday with Christine Meyer

There's a video with step by step instructions.

SIMPLE STORIES LAYOUT - Lemon Twist Kit from The ScrapRoom - YouTube

I decided to use 2 more papers from my Anthology mini kit. One is double sided with black on the B side. The photos are of a cheetah I saw at Hunter Valley Zoo.

My embellishments are 3 lime green small items, ribbon plus a couple of fussy cut butterflies.

The first card is for Creative knockouts and I have gone across the bottom row.

There are 4 patterned papers, sentiment and vintage cream ribbon.

Next card is for Tuesday Morning Sketches

and here's my card
The circular tag has a stamped butterfly and it has been dipped in walnut ink to give an aged look.

Scrap our stash remix challenge.

Scrap our stash also has a remix challenge.

We are asked to scraplift this

I'm using the same 2 papers as yesterday's sketch challenge as well as offcuts in pinks, creams, and black.

I put a couple of random words on there such as "wild child" (We taught quite a few) and "oops!" (we had a few oops moments as well). My sense of humour comes to the fore again. Teaching is never dull.

The other lady in the photo is my friend from the school, and later my bridesmaid.

Scrap our stash sketch challenge

This is the sketch at Scrap our stash challenge

I've recently been to a school centenary and as it was my first school as a teacher I was keen to go.

I met up with several other teachers, including the 4 teachers that  I was on 3rd class with.

I used Kaisercraft "Wandering Ivy" papers and Grace Taylor Banners.

Lasting Memories-Stripes

We are asked to use striped paper this week at Lasting Memories.

I've gone back to my trip to Europe for this layout, as I had a red and white striped paper that I wanted to use.

I added touches of gold as it was so ornate inside. There's a gold vine and washi tape with gold and black stripes. Also cream and gold alphas.I'm pleased to use up a sheet of book paper as well on this.

Mystical quote challenge plus Challenge YOUrself

Scrapbook layouts are always fun to do and this was no exception.

Mystical scrapbooking have a movie quote challenge and I've chosen an old movie named ALL ABOUT EVE.

Also Challenge YOUrself has a friends challenge

I started with 2 foiled papers plus 3 photos from my trip to South Australia in March.

These 2 ladies and I became friends on the trip.

After adhering the papers,I added 2 tags containing my split title.(Hand written).I added a green swirl from Flourish with a bling.some washi tape plus a tab.

Of course I'm on the layout (top right)

Supplementary kit for remainder of September.

I've used my September kit so have pulled out the remnants of Anthology kit from February 2019.

Here's what I had left

I kept it together because it centred around the theme of natural things including butterflies, bugs, flowers etc. I will use it for challenges until most of it is used over the remainder of this month. As it is spring here in Australia, it seemed suitable.

My first project using this is for Mod Squad challenges where they want a card using Butterflies.
Sparkles Forum wants Autumn colours

I fussy cut around 3 butterflies and used a matching sentiment on the top.
The background paper was appropriate I thought.
Though it is a spring picture it is using autumn colours on those buttterflies.

Incy Wincy designs and crafty catz.

I'm now using up smaller offcuts of my kit to make cards. My first is at Incy Wincy designs where they have a "spots, stripes and or checks" challenge.

I used 2 different checks, plus a spotted chiffon ribbon all from my kit. It is to be used as a 90th Birthday card.

Hope you like it!

My next card is for Crafty Catz weekly challenge where they want a masculine birthday card.

I used 2 blue papers plus blue ribbon, then added a cork rectangle and a frame featuring a heart. I decided not to use a word sentiment.

School at "Use your stuff"

The newest challenge at Use your stuff is back to school and primary colours.

I've used primary colours on this layout about a school reunion I attended a few years ago.

The big numbers were finally used plus a bracket.

We would love you to join in there.

Lasting Memories -Florals

At Lasting Memories there is a floral paper challenge.

I had a paper with large flowers so fussy cut those out and used magic mount to make them 3D. I used a smaller floral paper as part of my background. I used a strip of matching pink ribbon across the middle to delineate the split of the 2 papers. There is also subtle small rhinestones between the fussy cut flowers.

The photos are of my 4 month old daughter with my ex husband. (She's 35 now!)

Counterfeit Kit Challenge #1

Our task was to create a layout using transportation in your creation.

I've chosen the Hop on hop off bus which I've used in several countries on my travels.

This paper has a tricycle in one corner so decided it would suit my theme. I had 2 photos on the bus of the seats plus the sign at a bus stop. The third photo gives the illusion on travel as it looks along a road, through an archway.Once matted I placed them on my layout and used 2 bingo cards at the top as extra journaling. I also used one of my masks to write "the journey".

Extra embellishments include a crown and a road map.

Lasting memories checks.

For Lasting Memories this time, they want plaid, checks or gingham.

I tried something different on this layout.

I had a scrap of navy gingham so stitched it to the background cardstock then layered white lace curtaining over the top. I added a part of a doiley as my umbrella. I used ric rac as my pole of the umbrella.I made the navy ribbon rosette and used the negative from 3 die cut flowers as my left hand side embellishment. The girl was cut out from a magazine

Rochelle Spears and Scrap with Stacey.

My next layout is for the Rochelle Spears challenge. We are asked to use this sketch.

and team it with Scrap with Stacey for her Tic Tac Toe challenge

My layout uses more of my Counterfeit Kit papers plus a photo of an old truck we saw on Kangaroo Island.
I've used a brad on the tag plus 2 green staples and 3 "gems" silver stars under the photo.
As it is a manly layout, I didn't think rhinestones were appropriate.
The orange swirl and old camera paper is from Kaisercraft. I used both sides.
I used 3 kinds of letters on here plus my Tim Holtz stencil to add backgrounds words.

Finally, here is my layout.

NOTE: A "ute" is a truck with space in the back to carry goods. In USA they are called a "pick-up".

It is short for Utility but not many people say that.

Thursday 9 September 2021

Scraproom Group Labor challenge plus throwback sketch.

At The scraproom group challenges the had a challenge using the letters of the word, LABOR as in Labor Day in USA.

Using items from my kit I've made this layout.

I've used L=lace A= adhesive stickers B=blue O=orange and R= ribbon and ric-rac.

This was on my trip to South Australia where I caught the tram along the Glenelg street to the beach.

Also next comes the Throwback sketch.

I had 3 photos of Adelaide oval, taken on my holiday so used those.

From my kit I cut Tartan banners plus used the frame on the left hand photo. I did not have a giant bracket so painted one and placed words along it. The top tag and string are also from my kit.

I mixed my alphas as I'm running low on letters but the gold/silver thing works.

Venetian Masks at Mystical

This month the challenge at Mystical Scrapbooking is movie inspirations.

I've chosen to do a layout based on my remaining photos of Venetian masks from our trip to Italy in 2009.

I've already done one here: Julene By Design: Scrapfriends Sketch challenge

From my kit, I chose 3 maroon papers plus some bling and a label. I used the sketch at The Scrapbook room where I will also enter this.

The movie inspiring this is "Eyes wide shut"

As a final touch on my layout, I found 2 feathers as they feature on many Venetian masks.

I realised after doing this layout that paired with the older one I now have a double layout.

Sunday 5 September 2021

Scraproom group Freaky Fast Friday

I used this recipe to create the following layout. Because the 10 x 10 piece was tartan I went back to my photos of Scotland. I found one of the Sir Walter Scott memorial in Glasgow.

For the 1 x 12 piece I used a darkroom door filmstrip featuring red flowers. I matched red brads and some of the red lettering from the mini alphabet.

September Counterfeit Kit.

 Our kit this month is

{Not} Just for Boys Scrapbooking Kit Club - September 2020 Main Kit - Vivid

I'm still in total lockdown here after 11 weeks, it is getting frustrating! Again my kit needed to be made up from what I have on hand.

Here's my take on the kit. I've named it "Golden hours"

The first 2 rows follow the you tube for the kit, representing both sides of the paper,or as near as I can get to it. The bottom row are others I added that match those papers.

Branded papers are
Teresa Collins "Summer Stories"
Webster's Pages "All that glitters"
Kaisercraft "Close up"
Ruby Rock it " Orange glittered"
MME "Lush"

The jar contains brown buttons and there's a variety of ribbons and braids.I also found blue tassels.

I have no stamps, but instead have the Tim Holtz word mask. There's no log sliced mask but the other two are versatile for me.

Welcome to our guest designer, Tori
