Archiscraps and Ike's world.

AS well as being on 3 design teams I also own a challenge blog, named Archiscraps.
https://archiscraps.blogspot.com

This month the challenge is based around this building

Our challenge is to use brown and cream with ecru lace.
I've made a layout to be an example on there but thought I would put it on my blog here as well.
That's Mum on the right. She met this couple while on her honeymoon. Dad was obviously taking the photo.

It is also using 2 papers from my May Counterfeit kit. (I started early.)
                                                  **********************
At Ike's world I discovered they had a paper piecing challenge

Because of Covid 19, I have given up making Mother's day cards for now, so starting on other cards.

I made a male birthday card with Happy birthday sentiment.
I paper pieced 5cm squares on my card in tones of brown then mounted my sentiment on corrugated cardboard.

Lasting Memories Rain

The last word for the month of April at Lasting memories is Rain.
I've had 2 photos from the bushfires earlier this year I want to scrap and put in my daughter's album. She was driving through thick smoke to work one morning and took these photos.

R= rust colour, Rosie's studio glitter foam alphabet.

A=alphas, ash (in the smoke)

I=inking around edge of papers

N=nightmare

It isn't a pretty layout by any means but it documents the event.
I might add I don't like these alphas much as the font is rather weird. I'm not even sure those are R but they were next to the S so they must be. The T is too big !

My journal hexagons and flag shape at the top are in bushfire colours too.

Tuesday Taggers and Moving along

At Tuesday taggers the challenge is to use stencils.
My background cardstock is a lavender blue.

I started with a spotted mask or stencil from Kaisercraft and used purple mist to create my background.
Next, I added a relief canvas dress stand which I misted in red.
I outlined the dress shape in black to make it stand out more

My sentiment says Well done, so this could be a thank you card or a congratulatory card for a woman.

                                                               ***********************

At Moving along with the times they want diamantes
I made a thank you card by fussy cutting around a picture of a bucket of flowers.
I added some blue rhinestones around the bottom of the bucket.
For a Thank You card, I didn't want it too tizzy.

Card concept

My next card is a ladies' birthday card.
I fussy cut around a flower plus 2 butterflies then re-attached them to this card with a pink heart doiley and my sentiment.
As I get older I'm finding pastels always go well on Birthday Cards.

The card concept wants florals so it should be ok on there.
It has a purple look but is a brighter pink in real life.

CAS(e) this sketch

I've had 3 letters hanging around on my craft desk for ages.I knew eventually they would be used.
The above sketch at Case this sketch gave me the opportunity.

I kept this card as simple as I could and made it a Thank You card. (Perhaps for a teacher or home tutor).

The handwriting looked better on the left.

If you give a crafter a cookie

If you give a crafter a cookie  has an anything goes challenge.
I've made another card using scraps, plus a gold frame I carefully fussy cut from a birthday card.
I found the picture of a vintage lady getting in a coach so thought it would make a good Thank you card.

My next Card is for Watercooler Wednesday
They want an occasion card. I've made one for a baby boy's arrival.

The tartan flower is a canvas die cut I have had for aaaaaages. I added a cardboard circle die cut as the flower's centre.
Otherwise, I kept it simple.

Atlantic Hearts challenge and Little Red wagon.

Atlantic Hearts Challenge has this sketch.

I've used some offcuts from my April Counterfeit Kit and made a mother's day card.
The floral picture in the centre is recycled from a card and fussy cut.
As I make cards for charity I try to keep costs down whenever I can.
I'm also entering this at Little Red Wagon

While I was there I saw last weeks sketch which was this

So I used it as the basis for this card using up more scraps.
I didn't have enough of the striped paper to go right down so hung a daisy from it and balanced with another on the top of the other strip. (Slight variation)

Lasting memories CROCUS plus Rochelle Spears challenges

Last layout for this month using my Counterfeit kit.
I'm combining 2 challenges, the sketch from Rochelle Spears

APRIL 2020 SKETCH CHALLENGE

I'm also doing the CROCUS challenge at Lasting Memories

My items for each letter are:

C=caesar, checked paper
R= round journalling
O=opals squiggles
C=circle
U=underline journalling
S= statues, sticker.

Paper Issues 2 challenges.

The first is a sketch challenge (above)
I had no stars so used hexagons of various sizes which were on the sheet of alphas.

I've chosen grey, 2 photos, thickers, clouds, journalling

Lasting memories TULIP

At Lasting memories they have an alphabet challenge and the word is TULIP.

I had some old polaroids from 1974 that I wanted to scrap. Two friends and I went away in a mini and camped in a tiny tent.

From my counterfeit kit I used the October Afternoon plaid paper.(gold rush sasparilla)
It made a good background for the photos

 I matted the 2 rows of photos on another layer of paper and used co-ordinating alphas.

So using the letters
T=tent, two brads
U= under a frame (photo top right)
L= layering
I= inking (edges of centre paper)
P= plaid

Scrap the boys

Here's my entry for this month at Scrap the boys.
Christopher had his birthday cake after dinner at night. The boys had been for swimming lessons that afternoon so had had their showers and were in their Pyjamas. (Why not?)

I chose to use musical paper and make flowers by pleating and folding it. I backed each flower with a circle of red felt. The Memory Maze chipboard was painted red to match the felt and blue to match the background paper.

Carefree at Scrap our stash

 The challenge this month at Scrap our stash is to scrap a feeling.

I used a photo of my daughter when she was 12 for this challenge. We went on a holiday to Coffs harbour and spent the week seeing the tourist sights and swimming at the beach .In this photo we had walked along the wharf and she felt so carefree and happy.
I made a banner from scraps of yellow patterned paper I had. Then using the same twine I dropped a tag down to give the details.3 lots of washi tape decorated the tag.
The doiley is inked with yellow and I used black lace to add a scalloped edge under the photo..

Challenge #1 April CKC

Clair asked us to choose a layout from her pinterest board and scraplift it.
I've chosen this one.

Hers is 8.5 by 11 but I can adapt it.

I started with white cardstock. All Clair's layouts have white backgrounds.
I found bamboo green striped paper in my kit which suited the background plus a grey and a textured green cardstock for the other 2 strips. My ferns were fussy cut and the lovely word was also in my kit as is the black strip.
As I had no sequins I used shiny green brads.
The grey strip at the bottom is a border sticker so I didn't stitch it.

Kraft plus

The challenge at Kraft plus is to be inspired by fashion.
My mind immediately went to my daughter who has a degree in costume design plus 2 year training in dressmaking. She is always aware of fashion and adores sewing on her machine.
She often whips up an outfit.

I've used sewing notions such as tape measure and dressmakers model to add to the idea.
Although most of it is framed on the centre section,I added the small October Afternoon lady running up the side of my layout.

 Here's a close-up of the dress dummy with crochet lace and flowers, very chic!

Challenge YOUrself.

At Challenge YOUrself  we are asked to use a black and white photo of ourselves.

Many years ago I helped set up a local branch of the Arthritis foundation. There was a doctor,pharmacist plus other members. I was the first secretary and in this photo was honoured to meet a former Premier of New South Wales.

I used Kraft as my background and chose yellow as my main colour with some black.
The flowers soften the black and white photo
The quote "most people would succeed in small things if they were not so troubled by great ambitions." is a rub-on.

Paper Issues Scraplift Saturday

Here's my layout for Paper Issues Scraplift Saturday.
It allowed me to use a smaller photo plus a regular one and best of all some paper scraps.
I added a metro sticker,a cheers sticker,a flower I constructed plus another chipboard one.
I'm happy with how it turned out and had fun doing the freehand black borders.

The original is much less colourful.

A scraplift

I keep saving layouts on Pinterest then don't do anything about them.
Today I needed inspiration and found this one.
https://www.acherryontop.com/gallery/192221 and was created by Michelle M.

I used pinks on my layout in layers.

Everything on here is from my Counterfeit kit.

The darker pink paper was border punched all the way around.
I layered the 3 doileys and the other papers then added my matted photo.
I cut an oval frame in half then used a fussy cut rose plus smaller roses from a birthday card.
The surprise element is a recycled leather tag from a [pair of slippers saying genuine leather. It is top left on the doiley.  My final touches were the clock section and 3 gold hearts.

Tuesday 7 April 2020

The Scraproom group.

I've done 3 layouts this morning for 3 challenges at The scraproom on Facebook.

My first is a stash challenge for the letters in BRADS.

B=buttons, R=ribbon, A=anchors D=daughter(that was a hard one) s=stripes,sea.

Next came a sketch

My photos were too big to do a background mat but otherwise the layout is the same.

Finally was the Freaky Fast Friday challenge using scraps of paper.

 First 2  were taken on the same day. We went on a boat trip at Tuncurry when my daughter was about 3. The captain suggested she steer the boat but she was very shy.

Sketches in Thyme

I'm finally getting some scrapping time in.
With this virus raging, I lost my mojo. After having a good talk to myself and completing a few tasks around the house I'm here.

This sketch is for Sketches in Thyme.

I chose a green potted paper from my kit with some other offcuts and matted my photo.
As well as the layers I have added hessian under the photo.
I added a spotted paper on the right hand side to match in with the hessian and chose a circular title.
There is some random zigzag sewing at the top.
I've also added 3 brads to carry on the spot theme and to hold the hessian in place.
Final touches were my journalling and the chipboard flourish.

Festive Friday

Here is the challenge for Festive Friday

I started with yellow cardstock and added yellow paper that had words on it like Knowledge and learn.
Using 2 other yellow strips I had plus some orange and yellow ribbon, I completed my background.
I found a quote saying "before a flower can bloom it must go through layers of dirt."
It has red ladybirds on it.
Finally my sentiments says B is for birthday.

So I have used yellow, bugs , ribbon and alphabet.

CSI Case 313

I'm a sucker for anything green so when i saw this CSI case file, I had to do it.

Evidence and Testimony

I started with a pale green polkadot paper and scalloped border strip from my April Counterfeit kit.
I added some scalloped lace as well.

Next I double matted the photo using a darker green.
I had a journallng paper from an old MM pad.
Adding it diagonally worked for the look of the layout.
I wrote the journaling using the 3 inspiration words and added hearts around the edges.
I had this chipboard branch from Kaisercraft "Chapter One" collection.
It worked to use it on this layout along with 3 red flowers.I guess it is also curly and swirly.

At bottom left I sewed 3 buttons and added a punched shamrock I had plus a square gingham chippie with a daisy.
My final touch was twine around the journaling paper.

Mystical sketch challenge

I used mainly greens from my new Counterfeit kit on this layout.
I was worried about the argyle one but think it works ok on here.
The decoration on the LHS is Flourish with a bling that I bought from Donna at Mystical scrapbooks.
The title and arrow are gold not black as they appear on here.

April Counterfeit Kit

The April kit is from
https://www.cocoadaisy.com/product-category/orchard-path-kits-march-2020/

It was the extra papers.

Firstly, my papers separately,

The black and white checked one is an old October Afternoon paper Sasparilla Gold Rush.
All the remaining papers are "no brand" papers from my stash

Here's my whole kit
I plan on using one of the pale green papers to recreate the floral one. (Check FOTF)

I've also added a few last minute things that I bought at a craft shop yesterday, glittery paper, green buttons and some word alphas.

AS my favourite colour is green,this will be no challenge to use this kit. :)

Here's the blog hop.
