Shopping our stash and Artastic.

At shopping our stash they have a pile it on challenge.

I've been adding to my birthday card box ,so made this card.

There are 4 layers of paper plus the sentiment, a hessian ribbon and the flower.

The criteria at Artastic this month is to scrap something that flies.

When we were in Holland we visited Zanze shanz which is an old village set up like Holland was a few hundred years ago.
Trotting along the path came this very purposeful speckled hen.
I decided to make it the subject of my layout.

I used gesso through a mask (Chicken wire shaped of course) and also used 2 speckled grey buttons.
I stuck toi the colours of grey ,black and yellow on this one.

Paper players

Here is the sketch at Paper players..

I decided to make a baby card using blue scraps I had on my desk. My sentiment says welcome little one.
It was fun matching up the 3 papers and I think the card looks ok.

Country view and Sparkles challenges

Papercraft Challenges wants animals.
Country view challenges has "I do like to be beside the seaside"

With that in mind I made this card.
It features a pelican and qualifies for the beach theme as well.
It is an all purpose card which I know will be used.

My second card on a similar theme is for Sparkles challenge where they want us to use 3 different patterned papers.

On this card I used the same background paper and added 2 strips, one woodgrain and one geometric.
I have used another Darkroom Door picture and some hessian ribbon plus a quote.
Several of my friends are librarians so this card will definitely be used.
There is a tiny strip of a 4th patterned paper as well.

Challenge YOUrself

At Challenge YOUrself,  they asked for a vacation layout featuring us.

6 years ago we went to Canada on Vacation.
While in Vancouver I met up with Stephanie who is on Counterfeit Kit Challenges design team.
She took us around Granville Island and a nearby park.
I used a pretty pink floral paper to match my clothes in the photos plus 2 flairs and some smaller die cut items. It wasn't summer, more like late spring (June).

Colour Throwdown and Little Red wagon

I'm trying to use up the purples in my Counterfeit kit plus 2 large navy flowers also in the kit.
This challenge at Colour throwdown gave me the opportunity.
I started with a pale lavender then layered a chevron paper in brighter purple/lilac colour.
I painted the centre and petals of my flower and adhered it to the backing with a purple star brad.
My sentiment says Sending hugs which covers a plethora of purposes.

At Little Red Wagon the theme is use a stencil on your card.
With mine I inked through a clock stencil and again used mauves and purple tones.
It could be a birthday card or just to get in touch generally.

Sketchy boards.

The challenge at Sketchy boards is cogs plus the sketch.
I had some Memory Maze gears which I used rusting powder on to age them.
I think I put too much modge podge on because it took more than 24 hours to dry. Finally this morning I brushed the top to reveal the "rust".
The photo is an old one of a photographer on a beach. I bought when I was in Forster recently.
After sticking my 2 papers together, I inked the mid section with pinecone ink and a cog mask to form the middle background.
I then arranged my gears, a wood veneerer star, a tag plus my title card.

and a close up of the gears cogs.

Paper Issues sketch.

This layout was inspired by a sketch at paper issues but has a totally different mood.

I used American Crafts paper from my kit to capture a different mood of the sea. The phases of the moon seemed a good background for these 2 photos taken during a storm. I added felt clouds, twine plus 2 Jillybean soup flags. I love the sea in any weather!

Counterfeit Kit challenge #1

Our challenge at Counterfeit Kit Challenges is to to do a layout based on this sketch.
I had a very busy travel themed paper in my kit from Bella with words all over it. Covering up was the only solution.
I chose 2 close up photos from the Colosseum in Rome. They show the sculptures around the walls.
The bigger circles were cut from the background paper (verso side) and the smaller ones, I used yellow paint.
The tabs for journaling are "Jillybean Soup" and there is a row of navy washi tape hiding on the layout as well.

I chose white alphas as there was enough going on already.

Challenge up your life and Crazy 4 challenges

At Challenge up your life they have a far away country challenge.
I made a collage using a variety of items from USA.
It is a retirement card for a close friend and says "Bucket List". One day we will travel again after Covid 19 leaves this planet. (Hopefully soon)

Next, I have made a card for Crazy 4 challenges.
We are asked to make a card for a 16 year old girl. At her age I was interested in pop music, so used that idea to make this card.It is in very girly colours.

Sketch Saturday

I've used the sketch from Sketch Saturday, plus papers from my Counterfeit Kit to construct this card.
Mainly pinks with a touch of blue.

Scraproom Freaky fast formula

I chose papers all in the turquoise and teal colourings since my photos are of the sea.
The 1/2 x 12 was a white lacy border strip.
The Prima lace flowers look just right on this. That has used them all up now.
I also added a chipboard fish.

ABC Christmas Challenge and Christmas card throwdown.

My first Christmas card for the year is for ABC Christmas challenge.

They asked for 'P is for Pine Trees, Q is for Quiet & R is for Robins'.
I chose P is for Pine tree.

The silver sparkly card has pine cones on it so I layered that first.
Next I found a small picture of a Christmas tree and layered that on top.
I added the ribbon and my sentiment.

Next I have made a card for Christmas card throwdown, where there's a colour challenge.

First I made a tag using different washi tapes then added it to my card.

Kraft + and Scraproom throwback sketch

I'm attempting to combine 2 challenges here.

and this throwback sketch from Scraproom group.

I found papers that would satisfy the criteria, the blue and orange swirly paper has been in my stash for around 5 years.
I layed those papers then the photos out and added washi tape as in the sketch.
I didn't have enough teal paper to totally mat the 2 smaller papers,so partly matted.
The pearl flourish with a bling was the closest I could get.
Next I pleated the flower above the flourish and adhered it to the background, addibg 2 autumn leaves. The 3 brad suited the layout.
Using a flower mask I added paint as my background ,then once it was dry added inca gold (copper) with a toothpick to the flower ends.
The small flower at top was fussy cut and also had inca gold added.
My title is small but sums up the event.

Scraproom Group SKETCH challenge

My next layout is for The Scraproom group and we are asked to use letters from the word, SKETCH.
So mine are

S=spots
K=Kaisercraft paper and cardstock
E= Envelope to contain journalling
T= tearing
C=cardstock
H= hand written journalling

I had some of the paper on the left hand side remaining , so I made a card for Inspire create challenges

Their sketch looks like this
and here's my card.

Wednesday 5 August 2020

Country view challenges and Cupcake inspirations.

At Country View challenges they have a sea themed challenge and at Cupcake inspirations, there is a similar theme.
THE SEA

Using a navy Kaisercraft paper from the Journey collection as my background ,I mounted my 4 photos on another blue paper. Next I added the yellow band which says If you want to know how much I love you, count all the waves in the sea.I also added a tag saying Chasing my travel dreams.
My title is from a pack of die cuts. Hello matched so I used it.With the word DOLPHNS , I used a variety of left over letters.
Lastly I added some seashell brads and a wood veneer camera.

Alphabetic Challenge Blog and show us your pussies

At Alphabet Challenge Blog it is I for Island fun.
This means we can do anything tropical.
I had some palm leaf patterned background paper and a slice of watermelon.
That suggests tropical to me.

Oh to be on a tropical island now!

I had a couple of tigers and some pawprint paper in my kit. Problem solved!

Paper Issues This or that and Rochelle Spears sketch

I'm opting for all patterned paper to start with.
In my Counterfeit Kit were several purple/mauve papers.
I thought I would combine it with Rochelle Spears challenge ths month as well.
Here's her sketch.

I used Metallic alphas (gold) ,so hopefully that counts.
The tag is there as part of the sketch.
I  used sewing between the photos.
The navy and white spotted washi tape runs under the photos.
For the diamond, I turned a square brad sideways to make a diamond shape.

Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday

We are asked to Scraplift this layout.
I started with a blue spotted paper and painted the 2 matting areas. Most of that has been covered by the photos.
Everything on here is from my Counterfeit Kit.

I've also whipped up a quick card for 613 Avenue Create
There is an optional Washi tape challenge.
My great neice turns 15 soon, so I made her a girly card.

CSI #327.

Here's the challenge for CSI case file 327.

I had the perfect background paper for this.
It is a Bella!Travel paper Mini Theme and I'm pleased to be using it as it has been in my stash for ages.
It has map and gingham as part of its design. The background for the main part is also a grid.
I used ribbon, travel themed elements (sunglasses, slide mount, postcard). My slide mount is an original from the 1950s.
I had to do some covering up on the banner as it featured Union Jacks, but managed to use small embellishments such as a house, letter, library card etc to cover those.
All the colours are there. The black is in very small amounts.

August Counterfeit kit

Our inspiration kit this month is from Hip Kit Club.

https://www.hipkitclub.net/august-2019

Here's an unboxing video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TxVAOnIFMI&fbclid=IwAR1X9YHYZGDmH7WT1kuqBRYfzRExclozUsss95VaZ-rvG4fYQ1PVNle-wGY

After searching high and low for a similar kit, I've come up with this.
There's no yellow as in original papers so it is a cooler toned kit.
I'm running with what I have, so my kit is

                                                       COOL RUNNINGS

I've gone more for matching patterns instead of  exact colours, but the essence of the original kit's there

Here's my papers

and a closer view of my embellishments.

I'm trying to use up alphas I already have, hence the pale pink Kaisercraft alphas
I might add more as needed.

A big hearty welcome to Gina Mc Cleod our guest designer.
Here's the blog hop.

That's it for this month. Enjoy making and using your kit.
