Scrap our stash-stash challenge #9.

This is the link to stash challenge #9.
Here's my layout using 6x6 papers and 6 premade embellishments.
The gesso is taking forever to dry today so I've photographed my layout.
I've used 6 of those strips that you cut off the bottom of patterned paper and 6 chipboard flowers of various sizes but all Bella.
I also lightly misted the 3 pastel pages which might be more obvious in the close ups below.

Little Scrap pieces card challenge site

Here's a new challenge site for me. Little scrap pieces

I've used scraps from the previous card plus some DCWV buttons which are slightly glittery.
The striped ribbon co-ordinated well so I've tied a bow & used it too.(Looks much nicer not squashed in the scanner)

Ruby's rainbow

Another card site I visit is Ruby's rainbow.
The challenge is flowers, pearls and a charm.
I started with aqua card and background papers and for a change, I deckled the edges of the card.
Next, I've added an Elle's studio journaling card to match.
I've added 2 rub-ons, the hibiscus flowers and the banner shape which holds the sentiment.
The pearl strips were added top and bottom and a palm tree charm is stitched into the corner.
Looks very tropical doesn't it?

Ruby Rock-it blog challenge

http://rubyrockit.typepad.com/ruby-rock-it/2013/11/sketch-contest-giveaway-november.html#comments
Here is the link to Ruby Rock-its current sketch.

And here is my layout.
I've used Ruby Rock-it Avalon and Romance "Upstairs Downstairs" papers.
My mat is a piece of corrugated cardboard. I've used a co-ordinating ribbon across the layout.
For my journaling I've used a tiny file card.(Not sure what make as I've had it for so long.)
The Bella pearl stickers and Bella bling strips are my embellishments.
My alphas are Bella Chipz.

and the journaling, hidden so you could only see the October on the file.

Punky Scraps for November

I had forgotten about Punky Scraps until I saw someone promoting it on facebook.
Their challenge this month is to use this clothes rack for colour inspiration
Along with this sketch

I've picked up on the reds, greens and dark blues to scrap these photos about an historic hotel we visited in Albany, Western Australia. The place was memorable and later on grew very lively.
It was great to watch the locals unwinding. I've added a little brochure that we picked up to help me remember it in years to come.
My background paper is FAR AND AWAY by Teresa Collins.
I misted some Kraft as my backing mat. I've added red trims to highlight this.
The arrows and dots are from an ECHO PARK range named "everyday man".
The alphas are Fancy Pants October 31.The twine was from Purple Pumpkin and the flair buttons are D-Lish scraps.

Color Throwdown #270

There's nothing like getting something in the mail to inspire you to use that item.
That is what happened with this card.
I received a 7 Gypsies sticker sheet with Thank you 's from Mazz Cairns.
In the packet was also the cute ladybird button.
The rest is self explanatory I think. This could be for a man or a woman.

Flutterby Wednesday #263

Our task this week was to make a thank you card on FBW.
I've gone green.
I found a small scrap of green patterned paper with butterflies on it.
I used some down the left hand side then the tiny piece left was punched into a flower.
The reverse side was striped, so I used tiny lettering on the stripes for my sentiment.
I've also used textural paper and mesh.

case this sketch #55

Above here is the latest Sketch
I'm using another Dusty Attic background (The last one) with a doiley then an adhesive tag.
This time I've written "TWENTY YEARS" with my Dymo labeller as my sentiment.
Lastly I added 3 pink flowers.
This could be birthday, anniversary or retirement card.

And that is another pile of stuff used up......pretty packaging too nice to throw away! I'm economical.

4 Crafty chicks Anything goes challenge

Still using up scraps from my Counterfeit Kit.
The grey card and ship picture to be precise.
The background is packaging from Dusty Attic flowers and the teased gauze is a scrap from the Gundy Spectacular.
This design of card I have used several times, but it suited the ship photo(torn from an old picture dictionary). I'm entering it in the Anything goes challenge  #169 at 4 crafty chicks.

Jingle belles rock

The challenge at Jingle Belles rock is to make a Christmas thank you card.

I've used Kaisers Twig and Berry range, by using an extra strip across the stripes with rub on lettering as background pattern them writing thanks. It has strobed in the scanner a little.I took great pains to write it straight.(Hmmm).
On top, is a matching tag and I've placed a musical flower and a tiny felt heart.

1,2,3 challenge for November

Here is the combination for November.
After doing the previous card challenge, I decided to go almost monotone.
I've used a packet from Teresa Collins "Tell your story" range on this as it had teal chevrons.
The border strip on the RHS is also from that range.
The pale blue cardstock is embossed. I've also used Kaisercraft Fine and Sunny range of stamps for the clouds, the bird and the pennants.
The alphas are 2 different American crafts ranges. Washi tape from Francheville.
I named my layout cool off fishing because just standing near that gorgeous clear water on Rottnest Island makes you feel cool. (Yes it was that colour).
The 3 fish are from the I {heart}summer range. The journalling tag is Elle's studio.
That's enough name dropping for this challenge I think.

White on white at Tuesday Taggers

http://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.com.au/ asks for "White on White" on a card this week.
I've started with white card then an embossed white cardstock on top featuring hearts and flowers.
Over that, I used some packaging from Dusty Attic flowers which is mainly white with a small maroon design around the edges.
Next is a paper doiley and finally some leather-look white thickers to say Love and hugs to you.
I've trimmed the right hand side and across the bottom with 2 different laces.

Cardabilities card sketch #87

I'm currently "Counterfeit Kit busting", which means I'm using up the bits & pieces left over.
I found cardabilities sketch

It went with some items I had left so here's my card
I've used Kaiser paper & cardstock then a mysterious packet.............
Does it look familiar?
Here's a clue showing the making of this card.

Yes you are correct ...it is Prima packaging!
(I've an idea for those epoxy stickers which will appear on here in the next month or two.)
The card is for a friend who is having an operation soon.
I thought the snail was a cute touch for a get well card. It will be slow recovering. (shhh, don't tell her!)

A2Z recipe challenge for November

The criteria was to use red, material or felt, sewing, more than one photo, paint or mist and an A2Z scraplet.
Here's my layout. It is quite festive!!!

The bright starry paper certainly screams Christmas.
As the 2 photos were quite plain I felt I can get away with the background.
I misted the 2 berry branches from A2Z's new range.
Then I cut a Christmas tree shape with red felt and stitched it in white. At the top I've used a large star brad.
Next I've used 2 rows of red/white ribbon across the lower half and matted my photos on a bright green paper.
The brown Elle's studio journaling tag reminded me of the inside of Christmas pudding.
Add a black title and it is complete.

Stuck?! sketch mid month and Scrap our Stash.

Here is the mid monthly stuck?! sketch .They are also linking up with Scrap our Stash as well.

I'm still scrapping my photos from my holiday in Western Australia and one of my favourites was the bell tower in Perth. It is only new and people can go inside it and ring the bells.
I've chosen 2 photos of it .
I started by applying gesso through a plastic doiley to get a soft background.  I've used items from my Counterfeit Kit, mainly browns ,grey and orange as my layering.
The pennant along the bottom is from Ruby Rock-it.
After putting my title on it looked bare, so I have added some D-Lish items such as a flair button,2 flag pins and a bottletop and twine.

Case this sketch.#54

Here's the next sketch at Case this sketch.
I took the lead from Ardyth this time when I saw that she has turned this sketch on its side.
I've used pink and brown cardstock and a line of butterflies from Kaisers "Tigerlilly" collection.
My sentiment purposely stands out. This card opens at the bottom.

Flutterby Wednesday #262

There's the sketch and here's my card featuring a tag  I made by misting with turquoise then stamping a butterfly.
I inked around the edge as well, and have pasted a Victorian lady picture on the front with a rub-on saying "YOU".
I've followed the pink/turquoise theme throughout.

Life ,paper,scrapbook

Life paper scrapbook has this November sketch.

Here's my take on it. I've used more hessian with embroidered zigzags.
Also wooden cameras and thin washi tape

Tuesday 19 November 2013

Color me scrappy # 50.

This is the colour palette

The other criteria was texture eg burlap (hessian),paint etc.

Out came my Counterfeit Kit plus the blue paint and a few scraps.
I started with the ledger paper and stamped circle stars.
See this post for details on it.
http://julenebydesign.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/cha-counterfeit-mini-kit.html

I also dug out the hessian red indian outfit Mum made me years ago and I'm now using the hessian.

Today I finished off some hexagon shaped mini letters, so used the background as a mask for blue paint.
Next I matted my 2 photos on brown card then on hessian.
I've used brads in navy & white to hold it on the layout.
The eyelet from the top of the Graphic 45 letters wasn't wasted either. I threaded navy ribbon through it and used it as another embellishment.
The braid on the pennant was also from the Bo-bunny CK.
Now I will explain my title.....................
The car is an old Holden brand.
An old Holden becomes an 'olden in Australia.(Aussie slang). So when I saw this I said it is hold'n on okay/ "olden ok.  Hence my title.

Fa la la and Friday Fun Linky Party @ little scrap pieces.

By now my regular followers are wondering where the layouts are and why I'm making so many cards.
I'm doing a markets this Friday and hoping to sell some cards, hence the influx.
Here's another one made totally from scraps.
The background pp is 2 strips of Christmas pp from years gone by.
The music is nearly 100 years old, found in my mother's back shed.
The santa picture is cut from an old picture dictionary.
The sentiment is from another scrap of pp.

Mojo Monday #320 and Feeling Sketchy

I'm still using up leftover bits from my Counterfeit Kit on cards.
Last night I started using those tiny letters to make sentiments for cards.
There were no E's in the bundle so it was a challenge.

Anyway, here is the sketch for Mojo Monday #320

and my take on it
I've also made a card for Feeling Sketchy
Their sketch looks like this

and my card

Fabnfunky challenge card

Another new card site found.
I'm cracking along with Christmas card production,so here is my latest creation.

I've used a tag I made for Scrapmatts when I was on their DT a few years ago.
The tag is soaked in walnut ink then a torn strip of wheat coloured paper is placed across it diagonally. A picture f a nutcracker plus a Scrapmatts bauble chipboard, (inked in gold )

The card features very busy Christmas paper on the background so I've tamed it with a traditional red mat for the tag.I've added 2013 in black and gold ribbon on the tag (left long).
I hope Fabnfunky like it.

Dream valley challenges and using tiny bits.

Counterfeit kits asks us to use tiny bits and pieces to end our Counterfeit Kits.
I've made 2 cards.
The first one is for a new card site I discovered named Dream Valley Challenges.
The criteria is clean and simple.

I've used an 8x8 piece of paper with the teddy bear in the corner.
I cut a striped strip from the top and used it as a horizontal band under the sentiment.
******************************************************************************
The second card is layering of scraps
Again it started as a piece of 8x8 paper.
*******************************************************************************
The 3rd card is for Christmas. It started with those 2 chipboard letters.
I looked and thought Merry Xmas.
Now my mother used to say that by saying Xmas, you cut Christ out of Christmas, but I'm sure she won't mind just this once.(I'll probably sell this card anyway!)

I covered the card in red/white tree paper & mounted the 2 letters on green card. I've used tiny lettering for the remainder of my words and added a Christmas tree embellishment as well.

You show me yours

The picture at "You show me yours" was 3 ladies from Downton Abbey.

I've gone pastel with this one and harked back to the Edwardian era which just preceeded the time of this photo.
I had some scraps from Graphic 45 "A Lady's Diary " and used those.
I also had some vintage lace and buttons from my mother's sewing stash.
I found pastel flowers ,brads, some beige washi tape and gorgeous Pink Paislee letters & I was set.
Here's a close up of the flowers

And the pocket.The cup & saucer is a rub-on.

And the final layout.
