Last look at home.

I've done this layout just for myself. No challenges or Design teams work!

These 2 photos were the last ones ever taken of the house I grew up in. We sold it after Mum died and it was pulled down to build a kindergarten..

I had 3 brown toned incomplete papers, plus some vellum and alphas I'm trying to finish up. They were my starting point. I layered them then used a gold border strip down the left hand side. Using scraps I made 2 tags for the right hand side. The hearts represent the love that house contained over the years.

I hand glued the alphas as they were not adhesive. The 2 colours match the roof and the land around the house.

Lasting Memories- collage

There is a technique challenge at lasting memories this week, and it is collage.

I have 3 photos of Chinese New Year celebrations so decided to use 2 of those. (I feel a double coming up!). First I selected my papers.

All have an asian look about them, and the red one is actually mulberry paper.

Next, I found my mod podge and began to tear my papers.

Here's my background! There are 2 smaller pieces added one in the top corner plus the strip going across. (Why not?)

After this dried, I added red mist dribbles. I mounted my photos on brown then also put the coupons, A wonderful day and reason 4376 paper ephemera. I sewed the large gold lucky coin as it is quite heavy and added a red brad.

Here's my final layout.

**********************************************************************************

I then went on to do a maching collage layout as I had the dragon picture.

Here's the 2 stitched together as a double layout.

Li'l red wagon & Creative knockouts

At Li'l red wagon they want a tag.

I had some pale pink pieces left over from my Counterfeit kit so made a baby girl tag. It could go on a gift or become part of a card.

I made it wider than a normal tag.

At Creative Knockouts they want lots of layers.

I've chosen yellow and made a birthday card. It has  5 layers or 6 if you count the white embroidery thread around the tab. A friend has a birthday in April and loves yellow so it will suit her.
The envelope was a strange size 919cm x 16.5cm), so I made it to fit that.

Scraproom jumpstart sketch

This is my last layout using the February kit.

The Scrap room has this jumpstart sketch challenge.

I used offcuts in most of this as I had lots of smaller strips and pieces.
My embellishments were kept to a minimum with just pearls and brad from my journal circle, which I inked around the edge.

Lasting Memories Journalling

The new challenge at lasting memories is to feature journalling.

I chose 3 photos of French architecture in Quebec.

On the balloon shape in the middle I journalled about the architecture.

Sketches in Thyme.

I'm ploughing through challenges this month and this one is for Sketches in Thyme.

Here's the sketch.
Apart from scraps I didn't have much in my kit that suited the beach, but decided neutral grey would be a good background.
I then used 2 offcuts of Bella Kraft cardstock as my horizontal piece and circle. (Kraft looks like sand on this). I used black and white pieces for my mats and added some colour using a green scrap from last months kit.
As they are 2 phtos of my recent summer holiday, I used beach embellishments. The umbrella anchor and journal card plus "summer" pennant are from St Tropez collection from Prima.(remnants from another kit).
I guess you'd call it a "different" colour scheme for beach photos.

Challenge YOUrself.

My next layout is for Scrap-challenge Yourself

I was married in 1982 and 7 years later was divorced but somehow the wedding proofs have stayed with me. Too many good photos I guess.

Anyway on this layout I grouped my proofs of arriving at the church and standing with Dad before going in. Dad was my strength and guided me along the path of life. These photos show his love.

I left the proof numbers on so I could arrange them in order. I kept my layout clutter free as I have with all my wedding photos.Just enough to embellish without over-doing them. "Less is best" my scrapbook teacher used to say!

First, I misted the background with purple. After adhering the photos I used 2 strips, one of ribbon, one black and white Crate paper strip. I used the same pattern paper as a backing on my journal circle.I used a heart brad there, then my title and red heart are from Simple Stories Life in Colour chipboard pieces.

Challenge #1 CKC. Herzstuck

Challenge #1 - At the Heart of It! (GD Eileen, Julene, Lisa, Tina, Tracey)

The name of our inspiration kit, Herzstück, can be translated along the lines of "the heart of something" and as this is the month of love and romance, let's take that as our inspiration.😍 Make a project featuring something or someone that you think of as the "heart of it". Of course, you might want to interpret this prompt as featuring hearts on your layout and everything goes round here! So, show us your very own "Herzstück"!

***************

I've chosen a photo of our neighbours when Erica was a baby. The lady was so loving and kind and gave me extra help with the baby. Her 2 girls, although a little older ,played with Erica and took her for walks in the pram. When going through my separation they also gave me emotional support and encouragement. They were at "the heart of it" at that time.

I've used the mustard toned papers from Bella "Get Hitched" range. The argyle print one has fine red lines, so I picked up on that fact and used red flowers and hearts.I also added diamentes.

Lasting Memories paint challenge.

The next challenge at Lasting Memories is

LM #534 - "Let's get painty" - Create a layout using paint. or other mixed media like texture paste or ink sprays. Time to get messy!

I started with a patterned paper from my kit featuring tiny pinwheels or starbursts.Using a chicken wire mask and candy pink paint I painted one quarter of it.I then dribbled red mist over the top.

The photos are from Gloucester NSW where we found beautiful roses growing en masse in the council park. Apparently they often hold weddings there, I can understand why.

I also used the rose stickers from"For the record" sheet plus Take note on my journal card. In addition there are 2 wood veneer pennant flags, a flair from Covoa vanilla,a punched flower with button centre. Also a lacy border in pale pink at the top of the 2 photos.

The writing on this has all been highlighted in white because I copied the challenge from the lasting memories blog.

Crafty Friends and Crafty Critters

Next card is for Crafty Friends where they want animals or birds. Also Crafty critters wants a critter

I'm still making baby girl cards and found 3 butterfly brads in my stash which I used on here.

I'm sure this one will sell with those cute butterflies on it.

Mojo Monday

You may have noticed that I had a great deal of soft pink in my Counterfeit kit. The reason is I'm making baby girl cards to restock the box.

This card is for Poetical artistry or Mojo Monday. Here's the sketch.

As you can see it is a tall card.
I used mainly the pale pink with a little black and white, then a pop of brighter pink for the flower.

Also here's some other pink cards I made for baby girls yesterday.

The little envelopes unfold so a message can be written inside eg the babies' name etc.

Lasting Memories- embossing

Over at Lasting memories they want us to feature embossing somewhere on our layout.

I used my spotted embossing and the cuttlebug on the navy piece near the top on this layout.

The background I used gesso through a mask and I chose colours to compliment the squiggly striped paper going across.

We visited Banff 6 years ago on a wonderful trip around Canada.

3 layouts from Facebook challenges.

I've made 3 more layouts both using sketches.

This was for a throwback sketch at The Scraproom group.
I used The American crafts paper with hexagons and For the record spotted paper from Echo Park on this layout.
It was a walk near One mile beach so the "sandy" texture fitted in as did the yellow strip across the centre.
The stickers are also from For the record range so I used them as well.
I'm not wrapped in the shortening of vacation to "vacay" but it was the last of a set of thickers,so I used it.

Next is another sketch challenge at Paper Issues

and my interpretation. I took a male teaching friend to look at a nearby view of the river etc. He was taking photos, so I took a photo of him taking photos. (LOL).
I used mainly greys with small touches of black.

Next was a formula layout at The Scraproom again. I read it wrongly and didn't do the 6 1x1 or the 3 2x2, just one of each square.

White with One

At White with one the colour is piggy pink and we're also asked to use this sketch

I had pink in my Counterfeit kit, so chose 2 fairly insignificant papers to use.
One of my larger quote cards also matched so I used it to mat my photo.
I've also added some strips of paper I had ,2 fussy cut flowers and a flair. The circle containing the title I left white. My final detail was some stitching.

and the layout,

I'm on the end of a set of alphas, so had to mix and match them to get my title.

Tuesday 2 February 2021

Framed layout.

Via Pinterest I found 2 layouts using Echo Park for the record frame that I included in my kit.

LG's Scrapbook World: Stolen Moment (scrappinworld.blogspot.com)

Has this layout

I also found this one.

So that's my starting point.
I decided to base it around the top layout but put my own spin on it.
My cousin Colene looks very much like my Aunty Heather, who was a dressmaker.
When I saw this photo of Colene sitting at the sewing machine I thought it was her at first.
I used the same background paper but chose grey spotted for my strip across. The circle was cut from a 6x6 piece and the striped strip on the right was left over from last month's kit.
I used a journal card cut in half as the base for my partly hand written title.
The sewing machine top left is a diecut. The green large flower is a sticker from "for the Record" range as are the journal strips.
I added 3 flowers and note the 2 red pointsettias match the floral paper.
This one was fun to make!

February Counterfeit Kit

The Counterfeit kit ladies have chosen this

Scrapbook Werkstatt - Februarkit 2021 - Herzstück, 34,90 € (scrapbook-werkstatt.de)

Welcome to our guest designer this month, Eileen Taylor.

 Here's the original kit

Now for my kit.

In the papers I see mustard, pinks, greys and woodgrain. Added to that are flowers, leaves, butterflies, velvet bows and gold alphas. There is also a theme of hearts.

I looked for woodgrain ,but the closest I could do was the American Crafts "The colour of memories"
It features white hexagons on a wood-like background. I added 2 partial sheets from Bella with Kraft.

I then strayed into black white and greys.
There are 2 new Echo Park "For the record" papers with matching stickers, alphas and chipboard.
I found another Bella paper featuring Hearts on a white background.
There is a grey in the original kit with lines, I found a grey sunburst paper.

Mustard was the next colour, so I added a plain plus argyle.

Lastly, the pink papers.
Far left is pink with dainty figures and another 2 with grid patterns, similar to the kit.
I also found this paper which I will fussy cut my flowers from.

My embellishments are a mixed bunch.
I'm short on butterflies, so added flowers, decorative strips, bling, tags, and I found some velvet ribbon!

I've completely forgotten alphas, but have 2 shades of pink -Barbie bright and baby pink-which I will use up, plus of course black.

Here's the order for the blog hop.
Don't forget to leave feedback, we often wonder what you're thinking.
