Soul Scrappers- tic tac toe

At Soul scrappers they have this Tic Tac toe board for April. I went across the bottom row.

I decided to enter this layout

The chipboard are the slide frames which I covered by winding washi tape around them.

Here's a close up.

My fussy cutting is the maple leaf cut out from a Canada brochure.

Li'l red wagon has a slimline card challenge.

I'm on a mission to use up every Christmas paper in my stash ,so here's a Christmas card with hessian and a foam candy cane. No sentiment because I think it is obvious.

Shopping our stash

At Shopping our Stash they want "fun folds".

I decided to make an easel card using Graphic 45 papers

I cut out the 2 birdcages, one still attached partly to the paper on the top part. The other I mounted on the bottom section using pop dots.

The orange paper is also Graphic 45 and the bracket section is from "Lulu and Roy"collection (Kaisercraft).

This will become a Mother's Day card.

Sketches in Thyme sketch

Here's another layout for Sketches in Thyme. This time it used a variety of smaller papers which suits me. I'm running out of kit.

(In fact, I just ran out of D/S tape too.)

I kept fairly close to the sketch. My journal tag is on the right above the title.

Cards with scraps

My first card is for Sweet Sketch Wednesday and follows the above sketch.

I used offcuts of 2 papers from my CKC plus the kiss tag, Oval tag and the thin ribbon.

This will go into the Mother's day box.

Next card is for Li'l red wagon where they want stars.

Again, these are offcuts. The Star "ribbon" is from my kit as are the gold alphas.

This one is for Father's Day.

Third card is for Daring cardmakers.

I could have used the first card for this challenge but hand more flamingo paper so made the following card.

That scrap of ribbon only just made it across the card. My 3 dots mid top of the card are flouro pink. They have come out as a washed out pink but they're bright! Everything on here is from my counterfeit kit.

Sketches in Thyme sketch

This is the sketch at Sketches in Thyme.

You are meant to use stamps or inks to create the bottom half, but I used scrapbooking paper. I'm still working on my kit.

I matched a floral with plain "Barbie" pink. My photos are of 3 items my daughter bought at charity shops. She loves the unusual type so rescued these. My title has a couple of weird elements to reflect that too.

I used chipboard buttons as my embellishments plus small pieces of washi tape for extra words or thoughts.

Soul scrappers sketch

Here is the sketch challenge at Soul Scrappers. I'm concentrating on using my pinks this month and had a rather busy patterned paper to hide. I used a big pink doiley heart. Down the left hand side I've put strawberry border paper with pale lilac lace.

After positioning my photo and journal tag I added another small bingo card that says "cute". This became my journal corner as I also used washi tape which has phrases on it.

Next came the flowers top left. The mauve one has a mark on it, but it isn't visible except up close.

Here's my finished layout and everything on here is from the counterfeit kit this month.

Mystical autumn challenge.

I saw this idea on Pinterest by Courtney Boutilier and thought I can use up some scraps on a layout for Mystical scrapbooks. The theme is all about Autumn.

We also need to use a stencil. I've used a Kaisercraft stencil on here above and below the photos. I added the gold vine because it has leaves.

Scrap our stash

Using the other 2 hummingbird photos ,I made this layout for Scrap our stash.

The item older than a year old is the chain of little hearts across the top. I've had that for around 10 years.

And I included the pink rose flower to satisfy the criteria too.

Added to yesterday's layout, this makes a double.

Lasting memories -Spring theme

Here is the sketch at Lasting Memories.for Spring themed layout.

I used my Counterfeit kit papers to do my background and included a row of those pink and brown American Crafts hearts. (Trying to use them up).

After putting on my two pictures of hummingbirds I added 3 flowers and another small photo as my title.

CKC Challenge #1

Our first challenge this month at Counterfeit kit is to celebrate nature elements. We have to include flowers on our layout.

My photos were quite dark, so it needed some colour to "jazz up" the layout.

I've used a large maroon &red flower as well as some silver skeleton leaves and another smaller red flower. They add a certain something to this layout.

The theme is my daughter breaking a tooth on her waffle.

Lasting Memories summer sketch

Here's the sketch we are asked to use at Lasting Memories.

My topic is the Mele Waterfall in Vanuatu. It was about an hour climb but we had a swim in a pool at the top. Beautiful.

Using more flamingo paper, I tried to keep with the tropical theme when doing my strips. (Mainly pinks, but with an occasional bright colourful piece added.

My photos are long and thin because it was taken on my digital camera on panorama setting.

Kraft plus

The challenge at Kraft Plus is to be inspired by Lisa Oxley.

Lisa uses so many bright colours and mixed media techniques to do art journals.

Here's my take on this challenge.

I started with using acrylic paint through the same word stencil I used in the last layout. It has travel words. Next I changed colour and used a different stencil with small pink arrows. Then a third stencil with purple mist.

Changed my ideas and used a white gel pen to do white dots in a row.

I glued scraps of book paper on my background.

By now I thought it would become a layout about my love of words and reading. I wrote read on one area and drew a book on another.

I had a big stencil saying "turn your dreams into reality" in this month's kit.

Using white paint, I used the words separately on my layout. Then I did the word Turn using black pen. I hand wrote Live your life. Final step was to stamp hearts with script in the centre on my layout.

Mystical blue green and brown challenge

For this challenge I chose a neutral/brown background and used a Tim Holtz stencil with pinecone ink to add my words.

Next, I matted my 2 photos using dark green then using a paper with blue waves on it.

After assembling and adding a journal tag and title, here it is!

Rochelle spears and Scrap with Stacey

Here's the sketch for Rochelle Spears April challenge.

This is the challenge at Scrap with Stacey.

I went down the middle vertical row. There was a circle anyway in the sketch. I used a journal tag under the circle and added a couple of random advertisements top right.

Everything on here is from my counterfeit kit. I'm please I used the Sassafrass Lass Life is beautiful paper.

Two challenges, one layout

This layout is for one of the monthly challenges at Mystical scrapbooks where we have to use pastels plus a stencil. I mixed paint and used it through a chicken wire mask.

I had put that title in my kit with this layout in mind.

Also, at the scrap room there is a colour challenge, so it qualifies for that too.

This is 2 photos of my grandfather.

My second layout is FFF (Freaky fast formula)

I've used my Counterfeit kit for this one.

Apart from the 4 papers and background I used 2 pieces of thin ribbon plus the chipboard title.

First layout with April kit.

I've started on my April Counterfeit kit with this layout.

The word travelled came from a title I used on last month's kit and I wanted to use it quickly so I wouldn't lose any letters. The strawberry border was an offcut. The patterned paper with bags suited the theme and I used mauve lace plus the star ribbon to soften it. The chipboard flower was also in my kit as were the tickets and the navy bow.

The photo is of course, Venice.

April Counterfeit Kit

Celebrate! Sampler Inspiration with Victoria Calvin - Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine (scrapbookandcards.com)

This kit has been chosen by Misty.

After examining these pictures, I headed to my pink stash. I added quite a few papers to my display then thought, why not go all pink?

PINK CELEBRATIONS

For my papers, here's what I came up with.

There are florals, hearts, one birthday paper, some plain cardstock plus a pink heart doiley and more of the heart banner. I didn't focus on birthdays for children as much as general celebrations.

To match this, I found these embellishments.

There are several ribbons plus tassels, lace, twine, some die cuts including buttons, tags, journal tags and some canvas shapes I misted in red. I will add buttons as needed, embroidery thread etc.

Welcome to our Guest designer, Kathy

Hi…Kathy here from Washington state, USA. I have lived in Washington for 35 years now and am always amazed by the beautiful and diverse scenery that this state offers. I am married and have 2 adult sons, one lives in Seattle and the other lives in the other Washington. I’ve been following CKC for several years now but have never actually posted a layout or in fact, made a kit. I’m one of those who will spend hours looking through my stash for the perfect piece of paper or embellie so the idea of one kit seemed way out of my comfort zone. I have known Lisa for 10 years now (met in LOAD 2012) and she has tried to convince me to “just make a kit and try it!”. But I never did and then I met Misty a few years back, we are practically neighbors, and she asked me if I would be the guest designer. After much thought I decided it was time to get out of my box and try this approach as my stash overflows! I am looking forward to seeing what I come up with and where this takes me!

I have been scrapbooking, as we know it now, for over 20 years and love everything about it…all the stuff, all the stories I’ve told and that have been shared with me, and mostly all the wonderful people I have met along the way. You can find me on IG @codakathy. But honestly, I don’t post much and have never posted a layout there (not too many on FB, either, for that matter). I am thinking about creating another IG account with just layouts but just haven’t come up with a name yet. One of these days!
