Daring Cardmaker

Before Christmas I made 12 of these reindeers to be used as door hangers or Christmas tree decorations.

I left them in the local coffee shop where they all sold.

Daring Cardmakers wants us to enter something other than a card so here you are.

https://craftingbydesigns.blogspot.com/ wants holidays Anything goes.

The pattern for these can be found on Pinterest.

All sorts challenge

All sorts challenge has a thanks a bunch challenge.

I've used some October Afternoon flowers that I fussy cut out.
The sentiment matches beautifully.

Actually I made 2 cards very similar, here's the second one. Take your pick.

Moving along with the times.

At Moving along with the times they want anything but a card.

I've decorated a wooden cigar box using old photos that Mum had from her Aunt.

The box is covered inside and out with patterned paper then ribbons and embellishments are added. I painted the lace around the outside red to match the papers.

Let's scrap

Here's the newest double pager for Let's scrap.
I'm bust trying to finish my Montreal photos and have 2 bundles of 5 or 6 photos so these sketches suit my needs.

In this case it is the art and architecture of the city. We weren't aware till we arrived just how much art, sculptures and murals there were around the city.

Here are the 2 pages separately,

There are murals all over the city including a giant one of Leonard Cohen and this one.

and here's the stitched double pager.

Scrap our stash

Here's the blend a sketch at Scrap our stash.
I started with the left hand sketch as I have 3 larger photos and it suited my placement best.
The matting papers are one across and one down.
The idea of journaling in the bottom right hand corner is from the left sketch too.

From the right hand sketch I used the idea of the circles as embellishments plus the leaves.

My title is in the top photo so I have no need for a second one.
I've used 3 blackboard stickers,3 maple leaves and 3 vines.

I even managed to get myself in the photo.

Challenge YOUrself and Use your stuff.

Use your stuff has a challenge to base your item on a book.

Challenge Yourself has anything goes this time (but you must be in the photo)

I'm scrapping 2 photos from Anne of Green Gables house on Prince Edward Island, Canada.
Long being a fan of the books, I just had to go there!
Visiting Anne's house was a bucket list item!

I chose an old paper with green flowers, now partly covered up. I used other strips of green, a clock face, old fashioned wagon and lace doiley. The grass strips are from flourish with a bling.
Lastly,  I added a maple leaf (Canada) and some tiny flowers.

I had fun doing this layout as the memories are strong from our day here.

White with 1

The challenge at White with 1 this month is

and they've also suggested this sketch

I decided to use 2 photos of squirrels eating corn which looks like gold in the photos and probably like winning gold to the squirrels.
They were so engrossed eating that they didn't notice the bus pulling up near them.

Searching my stash, I came up with the 2 border strips cut from a multicolour page. The alphabet has no relevance.
Next I used a wide strip of Christmas ribbon across the centre.
I had 2 gold frames and found a journal tag in a mustard colour. The centre photo is matted on corrugated card -inca gold has been used to colour it.
Using some gold glitter stickers and 3 gold brads I completed this.

Scraproom Freaky fast formula

Another challenge means another page done . (Only 2 spaces left to fill now)
I worked with reds on a grey background for this layout of the Arctic wolves at Park Omega.
Luckily for me I had a chipboard map of Canada which I painted red. I also had wood veneer leaves.
The green tab at the top of the photo will have the date written on it eventually.

I've linked this one up to not just card challenges where anything goes.

Mystical December challenge #2

The second challenge at Mystical is to use a big photo.
I chose the group shot from our bus tour for this.
I went with the whole aqua/yellow colour combo and think it came out alright.
The pennant at the top is a sticker and stuck a bit faster than I was ready for.

Also for no reason I have done this layout of the bison at Park Omega.

Paper Issues sketch challenge

Here is the December sketch at Paper Issues.
I'm still scrapping my Canada holiday and in this case the Mountain goats at Park Omega.
I only had the 2 photos so used them instead of 3 on the sketch.
This was great as I have used lots of brown scraps as my background. I even had the bracket shaped one to put at the top for my journaling.

The long hair on the goats inspired my tassels and I went with the animal these and used leopard print alphas.
This makes 40 layouts of Canada done .

Sketchy boards challenge

Here's the challenge at Sketchy boards this month.
I had a set of die cut border strips one of which was gold. I used that as my central strip and the negative of it as my sunburst feature.
I had very few other gold embellishments, but have used 2 other washi tapes and a tiny bow.

My feature on here is the bear button I bought in Canada.

This was at Park Omega again and we were amazed when the bear on the right stood up.
A kodak moment!

Nobody puts baby in the corner

Paper Issues has a challenge to put your photos and details in the corners and leave the middle section bare. This isn't as easy as it seems.
I used 4 photos from our Canada trip which featured a square that was right in front of our hotel.
We ate dinner in one of the restaurants opposite it and walked through a few times so it features in my memory.

I kept my embellishments to a minimum and ran my title across the top of the photos.

Searching for inspiration

I have 3 photos to scrap and couldn't work out a design for my layout.
I looked on Pinterest.
I searched through challenges and sketches.
Finally, I looked back through my own blog until I reached February 2012 and found this.

Also at Paper Issues there's this challenge :

"We want you to create a project using an odd number of items.
For Example: 3 Photos, 1 Circle, 5 enamel dots, 7 stickers, etc."
So working on odds I started.
My background paper is an old one from Sandy Lion. I chose it because of the vertical stripes.
Next I used 3 border strips from Sassafrass Lass.
I've used one journal tag. I've also used one arrow. I used one wood veneer leaf (Canada).
Even the alphas have 9 letters!

Paper Issues 2 layouts.

On the Paper Issues facebook group they have several challenges.

The first is to scraplift this one.
I started with a green chevron paper bag.
I added 2 colours of Kaiser mist which was a big disaster as one leaked all over the layout, me, the board, and my desk.
After cleaning up I decided it looked ok so continued.
I punched the edge of some black paper and used it as a mat.
Next I added bright orange pompoms and the black and white printed bracket plus the pale blue tab.
Final touches after the alphas were a flair, asmaller acrylic embellishment,my smaller words and some handwriting.

Next was a colour palette.
No automatic alt text available.
I started with green paper and pale pink mat for the photos.
I punched 2 inch squares for the right hand side using the remaining colours.
The flag pennant helped top provide interest down the centre and was inspired by the colour flags on the right.
The 3 photos document a chair lift ride at Mt Tremblant and I added the ticket as well.
Small sticker words added and it was done.

Mystical colour swatch.

Mystical Scrapbooks has a colour challenge this month.

The above swatch is the colour scheme and we must use either white or black cardstock as our background.

I started by dribbling blue mist on my card, then used 2 strips of pink ribbon on the vertical.
Next I put 2 lime strips on the horizontal.
I have a whole bag of tiny green buttons so I glued those between the 2 strips of pink.

Yellow is used to mat the photos.
Here's my journaling.

went a bit uphill there but never mind.

And here's my layout!

The scraproom jump start challenge

This is the jumpstart challenge sketch at thescraproom
I have a bundle of brightly coloured papers that will not work as a large page so cut pieces from those. I also made my tags from scraps.
My centre piece is the Canadian maple leaf as the 1000 islands are there.
The arrow is subtle and the enamel dots are a finishing touch.

Sketches in Thyme #350

This is another sketch at Sketches in Thyme. #350

I've chosen greens because they go with the photos plus it is my favourite colour!
After cutting out my smaller square I drizzled blue mist (which didn't show up well) then used white acrylic paint through a mask in a haphazard fashion to create a background.

I mounted my photos on vellum left over from this month's counterfeit kit.
This is 2 photos of the castle built by George C. Boldt. Here is more information

https://www.1000islandstourism.com/experiences/gananoque-boat-line/

We did a cruise around the islands for over 2 hours which was a lovely way to see them.
I added a tag for journaling but otherwise left it plain.

4 crafty chicks

At 4 crafty chicks is a free week or anything goes.

I've finished my Christmas cards this year so made a valentines card yesterday.
I had the left over alphas to say HUG (we all need those occasionally).
I made the tiny library pocket to pop a secret message inside and layered lace and the other sentiment.

Let's scrap

Here's the mid month sketch at Let's scrap.
I've chosen to do the left hand page. I started with a shaped page from Bo Bunny and a neutral blue and yellow striped paper. My 4 file folders are made from co-ordinating scrap papers.

After matting my 3 photos of Ottowa's parliament building, I used a sticker border strip down the left hand side.
It was finished building in 1876 and we literally passed it in the coach without stopping.
In 1916 it partly burned down and had to be rebuilt and in 2014 there was a shooting attack.

To the file folders I added hand made tabs plus a red maple leaf and mounties uniform I bought in Canada. My flair button says "This and That". The hidden journaling is in the second file folder.

Mystical Cyber crop challenge #3

Here's the inspiration board for this challenge.

The same Prima paper "Rossi Belle", I used on the last 2 layouts has this on the other side.
There are postcards and olde worlde flowers etc.

I've used airmail envelopes, twine, kraft paper bag, tag, dymo label, handwriting, layering,
wood veneer birds and camera.
Inside the small kraft bag is our original hotel pass for the hotel.

Let's get sketchy.

Its nearly the end of the month and I'm still finding challenges I meant to do.
Let's get sketchy is one I looked at earlier in the month then decided to come back to it.

Once again I used a Prima page from the Bella Rosa collection.
I started by using white paint through a dotty mask as my background. In this case it almost looks like snow with those animals! In reality, it was summer.

I used red as one of my matting colours since we were in Canada. We had a stopover in Vancouver which was basically overnight until lunch time the following day.
The middle photo is at our hotel and the deer is concrete. Then we arrived at the airport and found 2 more animals, hence the photos which were taken on my phone, so not as clear.
The red maple leaf and moose were specialty scrapbooking items from Canada.

Time flies and Paper players.

It's pouring rain here so it is difficult to go outside. I'm scrapping to pass the time.

This layout has been done just for fun but also to put in my New York album.

I started with a Prima paper background and added white paint through a Prima mask.
I added a strip of grey patterned paper across the middle with lace across the bottom.
This gave me the idea of layering more laces, including the roses scraps.
As well as my photo of Brooklyn Bridge, I used teased gauze

,a FWAB in bronze, a flair button, a small tag and transparency saying time flies.
Note also the New York minute sticker signifying it was over in an instant.

The 2 smaller photos are Darkroom Door filmstrip.

Hope you like it!

At The Paper players there is this sketch.
My Christmas cards are done so I'm now making Thank You cards.

I've used pinks on this one.
