ABC Christmas challenge(2nd entry)

At ABC Christmas challenge they want penguins, quarters and reindeers.

I've already put a reindeer entry in, but this time I've done quarters. It is a great way to use up small scraps of paper.
I used 2 co-ordinating papers plus some green ricrac I had.

Here's another card for Sweet sketch Wednesday.

I chose this design but used Christmas papers etc.

Hopefully you will like it!

The paper players and crafty gals.

Christmas Cards are well underway and here's another one for Paper players

I started with Christmas tree background paper, then added a strip of red cardstock across. I discovered I had a NOEL sentiment that fitted exactly, so popped that on top.

My circle is recycled from another Christmas Card.I finished with a sweet on magic mount on the RHS instead of the left.

Meanwhile, at Crafty Gals corner they want embossing.
I put this turquoise card through my cuttlebug ,making a border embossing. I then inked lightly in silver. My sentiment is a sticker I had.
This will be a spare birthday card.

Li'l red wagon and others

At Li'l red wagon they want tags.
I've just finished 2 layouts for CKC next month and had some scraps left over. I made 2 masculine /travel tags.

I literally used left over strips of paper and washi tape to complete these.

I'm also entering these at Watercooler Wednesday and Aud Sentiments where they want Masculine.

Mystical challenge and Let's get sketchy.

Mystical had a cyber crop and wanted flowers on a layout.

I made this layout using elements from my Counterfeit kit and 2 photos of a local lady who dresses as a dinosaur and walks her dog. She's doing it to raise money for the RSPCA.
Last Saturday, I managed to catch her at some local shops and have a photo taken with her.

Today I looked at Let's get sketchy and realised I could do page 2 using the remaining 2 photos plus left over papers etc.

Here's their sketch
They also had a mood board which I haven't used except that this happened on the weekend.

Here's my layout

And here's the double with the 2 layouts together

Tuesday 20 August 2019

Paper Issues moodboard Pinspire me.

This is the mood board.
I started with a photo of lichen that I took while in New Zealand.
The watermelon seeds led me to use 2 spotted papers one green, one dark red.
I added some stitching on the layering strip, using yellow because the green wouldn't show up.
The 3 butterflies were inspired by the dragonfly (I didn't have any of those)

Freshly made sketches and Simply create too.

At Freshly made sketches they have this sketch

I've made a Christmas card using 2 robins I have cut out. I mounted them on foam so they stand up.
The white background is sparkly.

My next card is for simply create too where anything goes.
I also saw an oriental challenge on My time to craft

Crazy 4 challenges and Sketch Saturday.

This is the latest sketch at Crazy 4 challenges.
I've been using up some 6x6 papers so this suited my requirements.
It will work for either males or females.

And at Sketch Saturday there's this one :
Using similar tones I constructed this card.
I used a square paperclip from my Counterfeit kit.

2 crafty Critter crazies

Here is my card for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies.
It is anything goes with a critter.
I've chosen a penguin as it is a Christmas card.
It is a modern look but I know it will sell.

At Animal Friends challenge they want either a lion or a giraffe.
I re-used a picture from a thank you card I received after giving a donation to WWF.
I fussy cut the zig zag edge at top and bottom. My sentiment was cut from some patterned paper.

Jingle Belles and Winter wonderland.

Yesterday I made this layout, featuring Flourish with a bling and flowers for Mystical August cybercrop.
It is the penultimate layout for my 2 NZ albums. (one to go)

As I was putting the central piece on it occurred to me to cut out the centre behind it to save the green paper.

I've used that scrap as my background for this card.
It is for Jingle Belles where they want a tag as the main feature.
I constructed my card using a rectangle, washi tape, a circle tag, vellum with my sentiment and paper lace just for fun.

At Winter wonderland they want a Christmas ornament.

I chose a bauble for the tree which I mounted on magic mount to make it 3D on the card.

I added a strip of holly paper across the base to add to the festive look.

Lasting Memories

At Lasting Memories they want us to use a cactus on our layout.
My mind instantly went back to my Arizona trip 2 years ago. We visited Sedona.

I used lots of tearing and bent back papers to distress them. I even stapled some corners.

The required cactuses are there top right.

Li'l red wagon

At Li'l red wagon the theme is songs and music.
The idea is to use song lyrics to inspire a card.

The song I chose is I love my wife by Frank Sinatra.
https://www.lyrics.com//lyric/967537/Frank+Sinatra/I+Love+My+Wife

One verse goes "Upon so sweet a sigh and if I shake,
Break out in spots, don't fret it's not swine fever dear"

I chose this because I had red spotted paper and thought I might use it.

A reminder as well

.At my challenge blog Archiscraps we also have a musical challenge.

Cards from Li'l red wagon can also be linked there.

Tuesday Throwdown

Tuesday Throwdown has a colour challenge.

I started with oranges and found a striped paper that includes the 2 oranges and a touch of yellow.
Next I found 2 birthday gifts, I think they were from a magazine insert years ago. I cut around them as best I could.
Finally , my sentiment wishes the bearer "good times". It could work for any age group.

Sketch 'n'scrap

Here's sketch #182 at sketch n scrap

Using papers and embellishments from my Counterfeit kit, I came up with this layout.
The subject of the photos is at a Birdlife park in Cairns that we visited last year.
The birds are very tame and land on your head or shoulder.

and a couple of close ups of the birds on me.

Joy of sets Tic tac toe

Here is the challenge for Joy of Sets

I chose the left hand vertical column.
Yellow, square and plaid.

I started with a yellow square card. Then I found red plaid so used that as my background.
I added a yellow square,a smaller patterned square and a square brad.
Lastly I added the word "Happy" to turn it into a birthday card.

123 challenge and Challenge #1 CKC.

My next page is for 123 challenge blog.
I used to be on their design team.

My photo is featuring an exhibition we saw in New Zealand named Head [case] by Julia Morison.
They are pottery heads with exaggerated features and appendages. It was quite weird.
Walking around inside the room you started to feel like you were being watched!

Using a blue spotted paper and a plain yellowish Fancy Pants My family paper, I set out my background.I matted my photo on the blue paper then added 2 pieces of gold vine on either side.I put my title on the left as it was too big for the original spot.
I added my journaling squares, a yellow tag, plus some enamel dots and 2 circular paperclips from my kit.
Here is the CKC challenge: Our challenge today is to create a project that uses the tabs and clips. It can be a tab you created and stamped on, put a sticker on or just a plain tab. The clip can be one of the many shapes that are out there

Here are close ups of my 2 paperclips.

*******************************************************************************
As it turns out the following layout also features paperclips and a tab.
Note the use of the full stops as decoration.

Freshly made sketches & Christmas card throwdown

At Freshly made sketches they are celebrating 400 sketches.

As I'm currently making Christmas cards I adapted it.

The white paper on the left is glittered and the tree that looks brown is gold. Much nicer in real life!

*******************************************************************************
At Christmas card throwdown

Here is their colour combination.
I used a tan background (closest I had to copper) then a turquoise patterned paper and finally a square of metallic royal blue. As my embellishment I used a gingerbread man and my sentiment has a copper border.

Li'l red wagon

At Li'l red wagon they want us to be inspired by a book.

I started with a handmade paper. I inked it slightly with pink.
Next I layered pink patterned paper, pale green cardstock and a transparency featuring Alice in Wonderland.
The felt teacup ,the sentiment and the flower I made from dress pattern tissue paper complete the shabby chic look.

I've also entered it at Crafty Creations.

Scraproom Jumpstart sketch

Here's the jumpstart sketch at The Scraproom on Facebook.
I've used 4 papers from my Counterfeit Kit on this to document a ride on a gondola up a hillside in Christchurch NZ.
I've used a frame in the kit that says "Happy little moments". My title sums up the exhilaration you feel going up the cables.
Instead of flowers, I used silver circle stickers to reflect the metallic elements in the photos.

************************************************************************
Meanwhile at Christmas crafts all your 'round they want a tree on our project.
I've used some scrapbooking paper on this card that features a stylized tree. I added my sentiment plus some green pearls of various sizes to complete the look.

Saturday 10 August 2019

ABC Christmas

At ABC Christmas we had the letters P, Q R.
I've chosen R is for reindeer.

I'll admit to some re-birthing on this. I cut the reindeer and Santa from an old Christmas card and the red shiny card sentiment from yet another. The background paper and ric-rac are new.

Use your stuff

I'm now on Use your stuff design team

The current challenge is "Inspired by Disney". Please join in the challenge.

Here's my layout.

I drew the bird on this layout and used some very old patterned paper that came in Scrapbooking Memories magazine. It just proves if you keep something long enough it will be useful.

Scraproom Colour challenge

The scraproom group has a colour challenge.

The darker grey background paper is from my Counterfeit Kit as are the tags.
The remainder is from my scraps.

Thursday 8 August 2019

Freaky Fast Friday at The Scraproom

At the scraproom group on Facebook they had a FFF challenge.

I had this photo picked out for another challenge but missed the closing date.

The only thing from my Counterfeit kit on this is the speech bubble.

Monday 5 August 2019

The library craft challenge

Over at the library challenge the theme is Image result for the tiger who came to tea

This solved a problem for me! I have had a tiger on my desk for months just waiting for a scrap challenge or inspiration to hit.

I'm happy that it can finally be used. I originally cut it from an old picture dictionary so it is recycled.

My sentiment means it can be used for a variety of uses.

Paper Issues Take 5 challenge

Here's the take 5 challenge for August.

I started by dribbling red mist on my page. (They are so old that they don't spray anymore.)
From my kit I had aqua border strips and enamel dots(pale pink not white as they look on here).
I added a striped paper across the middle and also a scrap of striped behind the photo.
2018 is my numbers.
