CKC December daily.

Hi it's Rudolph here from Christmas Kick start challenge helping Julene collect things over the month of December.

***********************************************************************************

Day One it has been suggested we choose a box to separate out our stash each day.

I'm using a suitcase I bought for scrapping items several years ago. There's lots of room inside for papers plus embellishments.

With that in place now is time to start the collecting.
I'm probably going to be making cards since Christmas is a small affair in the Matthews family.
Here's some Christmas card sites I visit regularly.

Of course there are plenty of other general ones that can be adapted.

Tic tac toe challenge

The Tic tac toe challenge is based around this grid. I've chosen the left hand vertical column.

Finding the plaid was the tricky part but I finally located some plaid or gingham ribbon.

There are 6 layers counting the ribbons and die cuts are the 2 tiny trees.

It's a busy card but some people like that. I'm sure it will sell.

Cardz for Guyz and festive Friday

I've made a tongue-in-cheek Christmas card for Cards for Guys.

It has a gingham background, says BA HUMBUG and has 2 humbug sweets on it as well.

There's lots of men out there who think Christmas is no fun!

******************************

At Festive Friday we need to choose 3

I've gone with cookie, brown and ivory.

Just skating in with this card, there's only an hour left to enter!

Lasting Memories stash bash-Enamel dots, brads or stamps.

This is my 3rd layout for Lasting memories this month. I like the stash busting idea.

On this layout I have used several enamel dots, plus a frame that has been in my stash for a few years.

I grouped the dots on the frame plus near my cluster at bottom right. The 2 cameras are actually brads.

On a recent holiday I had to wait a few hours for my plane . I sat in the hotel foyer,in a quiet corner and read my book. Nearby was this lovely big vase of flowers. It gave me time for contemplation. I do cherish quieter times, having been a teacher for 30 years.

Mystical scrapbooking November challenge.

The challenge at Mystical is to scraplift and add stitching.

I chose this layout by Wendy Smith to scraplift.

As mine is a school centenary photo,I chose more vintage colours as well as blue(the school colour).

I no longer have a border punch. They both fell apart. So I tore the bottom of the white paper but used similar doodling around the border so it appears the same. I used washi tape like Wendy and fussy cut out my 2 journal tags.I sewed on antique lace to hark back to old times plus used the doiley for similar reason.

My sewing is the word "SCHOOL".

Mystical cyber crop bling challenge.

Another school reunion layout, this time it is for Mystical Scrapbooking where we are asked to scraplift AND use bling.

I chose this layout to Scraplift

As you see it is by Jess Mutty and is for Fancy Pants Flutter collection.

My photo is of stairs I climbed several times a day over 3 years at the start of my teaching career. I would contemplate the day first thing in the morning, then later I used to line the children up before going inside. When I looked at them at the reunion, the memories came flooding back.

I used lots of paper off-cuts on this as well as tiny red rhinestones.I even used some gold dots off a set of alphas. My title was also an off-cut,  but it described my thoughts about the stairs. Teaching is a journey.

Lasting Memories buttons.

Lasting Memories has another stash busting challenge which asks us to use wood veneers, flairs or buttons.

I've chosen buttons on this as it is a male layout.

I recently went to a school reunion where I met up with former teachers that I worked with. One of those was Tony, who is a brilliant pianist. He played for assembly each week including the school song, (words in the photo). I've dedicated this page to him.

I had some offcuts from my kit, plus a large tag which I layered to use them up mainly. I fussy cut around that pennant to fit in the photo mat. The background "cork" paper is a Kaisercraft one named Class Act,

I used 4 buttons on here to add texture as well as the piano keys strip and a chevron offcut to echo the slats on back of his piano.

Christmas Kick start challenge

I found another Christmas challenge , Christmas kick start challenge where they have a challenge to use up Christmas snippets or offcuts from other projects.

I keep all my bits for Christmas in a pizza box. Here's what I found. Nothing is wide enough for a background so I made a half and half card.

I used 3 different patterned papers plus a Santa I cut from a packaging picture and one remaining red enamel dot. The gold ribbon doesn't show up on here but looks much better in real life.

Paper Issues sketch challenge

Here's the sketch at Paper issues. I've turned it sideways to use my landscape photos from a recent school reunion.

I used tones of blue because they were the school colours.

I also finished off 2 sets of alphas on this layout, hooray!

********************************************************************************

At Shopping our stash they have a tic tac toe board

I'm sinking under cards here so decided to make a tag. This will be to give my lawn mowing man along with a small edible gift .

I went across the top row. Using swiss dots I embossed the cream top section then smooshed it with Distress ink in Old paper and used a tiny bit of pinecone to "age" it further..

As you like it challenge

At As you like it challenge they ask for favourite circle embellishment and why.

I've always been partial to pearls. They add a touch of elegance to any card.

I'm making Christmas cards today so here's my card using pearls. They underline the sentiment.Did you notice the tiny pearls in the points of the strips?

Christmas cards all year around and Christmas card throwdown.

At Christmas cards all year round  they have an U,V,W challenge.

I've chosen W for winter. and my sentiment actually says "What fun!"

I used a lace doily offcut to add too the snowy look.

At Christmas card throwdown there is a sketch.

I've used gold ribbon plus some foam candy canes I have. Here's my card

Daring Cardmakers wants holly.

Challenge #1 CKC

Our challenge this month at Counterfeit kit challenge is to Celebrate Friends.

This time last year, I was contacted by a girl I grew up with. We managed to locate 2 others from our childhood street and had a get together. The photo on the right is from that day.

The photo on the left was taken in 1961 or 1962 at a birthday party, with the neighbourhood kids... weren't we cute???

I'm using the sketch from Rochelle Spears as my layout idea.

and the Scrap with Stacey tic tac toe. I've gone across the bottom row.

I named my layout "Us captured" as it was 2 incidences about 60 years apart.

In case you're wondering that's me wearing a pink cardigan towards the right of the old photo.

Haven't changed a bit, have I?

Scraproom throwback sketch

Here's the throwback sketch at the Scraproom group. (Last layout for them this month)

I've used a large spotted background paper from my kit that I have owned for several years. It is Paper Inklings. Keeping with the green/brown theme I've made a layout about Waratahs that I saw earlier this year.

I cut a large flower in half to use under the corners of the photos.I then stitched my circles using embroidery thread that must be 50 years old. I added a butterfly, bottom right.

My title relates to the waratahs which don't bloom every year, in fact this is the best display in about 7 years.

Lasting memories-punches stickers or washi

The challenge at Lasting Memories this time is to include punches, stickers or washi.

I've included the pearl flourish which is sticker as well as the title also sticker and the 6 little perals around a button sticker. I used 2 flower punches at the top near that.

I used the jumpstart sketch from the Scraproom on Facebook.

The papers are all from my kit ,3 in total and I put a strip of cream through the cuttlebug (swiss dots) to add some texture.

This is my grandmother so I wanted to do a good job on this layout, I'm happy with it.

Sketch 'n'scrap card challenge

I'm making cards this morning before going to the dentist. (Taking my mind off it!)

This sketch enabled me to use some of the green papers I had in my kit plus a yellow flower I made from 5 punched flowers, using more scraps. The sentiment is a sticker which is also in my kit.

Li'l red wagon and Tuesday Taggers

I'm making cards this morning to use up some scraps from my kit.

My first card is a belated birthday card for a male.I completely forgot his birthday!

The donkey picture came off Flutterby designs packaging and was so cute ,I couldn't throw it away. The stone wall background makes a good male background and the tan pieces were another scrap I had.

I'm entering this at Li'l red wagon.

**********************************************************************************

Next I have a tag for Tuesday taggers. I really enjoyed making this one.

I started with a spiral design paper which comes to a centre point, a bit like a hypnotic point.

This reminded me I had a couple of Alice in Wonderland transparency pictures stashed away. I put them on my tag then across the tag diagonally I put the word MAGIC using silver letters. (As a child I found Alice in Wonderland quite a magical story.). I finished it by adding a rainbow of embroidery threads at the top.

Turkey challenge and Challenge Yourself.

At Challenge Yourself they have asked us to stamp on your background. I used a star stamp to highlight the photo and title. AS it is shine bright I thought a star was a good choice.

That's me in the photo at a craft camp almost 10 years ago.

For the turkey challenge at the scraproom group, they want something for each letter of the word TURKEY. So

T= triple mat, tab

U=ugly scrapbooking paper

R=ribbons

K= Kaisercraft pearls

E= enamel dots

Y=yellow paper and tag.

Everything on here except the 2 lots of ribbon are from my Counterfeit kit.

Momma's Recipe at Paper Issues.

At Paper Issues they have a Momma's recipe challenge.

I have used 2 photos of pelicans at Forster NSW. In one I'm feeding them stale bread.

I'm also using that grey paper I forged for forgery on the 4th, plus scraps of the dreadful lime patterned paper, the stones and plain grey.

My doiley is oval, but I made it work by cutting off one end.The 2 tags are Kraft to match the sand and dried grass in the photos. The 3 stickers are the ampersand, sunshine and you make me feel alive.

Title has 4 words and uses 2 different alphas. My emphemera is the tab at the top, "let your dreams take flight" ,the picture of a headland cut from a darkroom door filmstrip, and 2 blue enamel dots.

On your project you must include: 1 doily, 2 photos, 4 papers, 2 alphas, 4 word title, 5 pieces of ephemera, 3 stickers and 2 tags. How will your recipe turn out? We think it will have delicious results.

Lasting Memories

At Lasting Memories they have a stash busting challenge. We are asked to use ephemera, chipboard or tags in an effort to use some up.

I've chosen tags as I have heaps of them. I started with 3 Fancy Pants 5x8 journal tags, which I've literally had for over 10 years. That finished the album of them, so I can throw away the cover. (hooray!)

I also added another 9 smaller tags I had put in my kit and a tab as well. This makes a total of 13.

The people are long time friends of mine who now live about 4 hours away on the beach.I sometimes visit them and stay. the photo was taken at a slight angle, but it is straight on the layout, I measured it!

The background checked paper suited the colour of the photo and the tags, I even had the letters to do the title!

The studio challenges and Freaky Fast formula

My next layout is based around this sketch at the Studio challenges.

I haven't found this site until now,so thought I'd join in.

Using papers and stickers from my kit, I've constructed a layout about my daughter. She is also very crafty and a qualified dressmaker and milliner.

As a finishing touch I stitched around the bigger circle.

Hope you like it!

**********************************************************************************

On the Scraproom group on Facebook here is this month's FFF.

I've used more of that busy paper in a determination to use it up.

I chose the photos specifically because they aren't too busy and sort of matched the papers, tone wise.
As I'm using up alphas ,I combined 2 different types.
The fleur de Lis is the heraldic symbol for Louis XIV, so I used 3 brads in gold.

Scrap the boys

At Scrap the boys they want flowers.

I had only a few photos of boys and men so had to think.....of course my travel photos!

The first box I pulled out was Vanuatu and there were several of native dancers. I chose one and it became the subject.

I used more of that awful paper from my kit,cut on the diagonal. Then I proceeded to hide it with embellishments.I used a large flower with about 1/4 cut away. I also had a stamped flower that I tucked behind it.Alsi in my kit were skeleton leaves,so added a gold one. I dotted 3 smaller flowers on the layout making a total of 6.

I added the ukelele and ticket which is my journalling. I sewed a line parallel to the diagonal cut and added a star. Up in the top corner are 3 clouds and the word happy.

White with One

At White with One there is this

AS well as using the colour "Crisp apple we are asked to also include string/chevrons/washi tape.

I started with a large piece of the correct coloured paper then used 3 strips of washi tape vertically.
Next I painted through a chevron mask to create a coloumn next to the photo.
I used a few scraps from "Chapter One" collection ,including the chipboard branch I glued at the bottom.
My mat behind the photo used some of that revolting patterned paper in my kit.
On my tag I tied twine.
The photo is of Central Park in NY. My daughter took it in 2014.
The title and small be tag are from my kit.

CSI.

I'm starting this month's kit with a challenge at CSI.

Starting with the Pink Paislee Enchanting big floral paper as my background and also using one of the 8x8 stone texture, paper plus a lemon plain paper, I set to work.

The evidence list also says gold so I used the gold doiley.I embossed the pink layering scrap on my cuttlebug. I added a chipboard cat and 2 windows. Also a blue frame and red misted canvas plant.

My journalling is on a circular tag with a circular brad. I used the 3 words in testimony.

I'm happy with it and its a scene around the photo.

November Counterfeit Kit

The chosen kit this month is Felicity Jane

https://felicityjane.com/collections/new/products/september-kit-emily

It has beautiful soft autumnal colours and natural themes.
I made a rather long list which I won't bore you with .
After much scratching around I came up with my kit.

"What was I thinking"

 My papers

If you look bottom left you might have noticed these 3 papers

That's how I named my kit!
I don't even remember buying them and the B sides are even WORSE!!!

Since my ultimate aim is to use all the papers in my stash,I'll force myself to use these.
Moving on , before you feel sick, here they are...

My Embellishments

Thank heavens these are all "normal".
Lots of tags here, some I made, and you'll notice no alphas, just words to use.
I do have the mini alphas, but with my fumble fingers I find them extremely hard to use.
The 2 containers are full of paperclips.
I'm continuing to work through my embroidery cottons.

My kit isn't soft autumnal but the general ideas are there.
flowers, leaves, numbers, tabs, days of the week etc.

A big welcome to Susanne , our guest designer this month.

Here is the blog hop

Happy kitting and scrapping this month, I might be scratching my head and cogitating a bit longer before I start .
