Mystical cyber crop challenge 2

We were asked to fussy cut out shapes, but not flowers or leaves.

I used another sheet or two from Kaisercraft Barber Shoppe collection.

These 3 photos span 30 years of friendship. (A fellow teacher who has remained a good friend)

We also had to include flowers which I did in the top 2 clusters top left and right.I inked grey flowers to make them more manly. My title is Cocoa Vanilla Happy Days.

At cupcake inspirations  they want plaid.

I'm currently replenishing Father's Day cards so made this one to put in the box for next year.

Paper Issues sketch and Li'l red wagon

I found this sketch on Paper Issues so decided to give it a try.

Using the Kaisecraft Male range, Barber Shoppe, I fussy cut some of the pictures then arranged them around my photo.

I stamped with a small star stamp and added black brads to resemble cannonballs. I also drew a couple of blue parallel lines vertically, to draw they eye down the page. My smaller words are cut from the branding strip at the bottom, as is the aeroplane strip under the title.

I'm also entering this at Li'l red wagon where they want more than 3 layers.

Counting the background paper there are 4 layers around the photo.

Cardz 4 guyz and Daring cardmakers

 At Cardz4guyz they want stars.

I used an old star stamp I had plus silver versa colour ink pad to create my background on this card.

I then fussy cut the man out and put him in the centre. I've decided not to use a sentiment as this will work for several occasions.

                                                                *******************

At Daring Cardmakers this week, they want Autumn colours.

I fussy cut around the 3 butterflies and mounted them on a floral background. The sentiment matches with another butterfly and says "Be blessed and be grateful".

The overall effect is autumn colours.

Lasting Memories-layering.

Today I'm making a layered layout for Lasting Memories.

I used 3 papers from my Counterfeit kit plus a scrap of vellum that I had. Also on here is ribbon, buttons, 3 brads and 2 tickets plus a thin washi tape. Underneath each of the photos there are 4 layers.

Along the bottom of the 2 photos I've added some yellow rhinestones. This completes the extra criteria where they wanted brads, buttons and bling.

My second layout isn't for a challenge. I just wanted to make it because it documents this year's birthday lunch with my daughter.

I've used a Cocoa Vanilla Happy Days paper named Definitive. I matted the 3 photos on another paper from my kit which was fairly neutral. I also used the big jar journal box that I won recently plus some green buttons. My title is a combination of 3 types of alphas. "You are sweet" is from Cocoa Vanilla daydream collection.

Daring Cardmakers

This morning I'm making a card for Daring Cardmakers.

The theme is taking a break. I sell quite a few Get well cards so I thought about people recovering from an operation and being told to rest. The background paper and small alphas are from my current kit.

I could have added florals etc. but this way it will work for either sex.

Challenge YOUrself

At Challenge Yourself we are asked to do a layout about life balance.

Because my daughter lives in Canberra I rarely get a chance to spend time with her. When I do we usually go somewhere on our own to explore and enjoy our time together. In August we visited Parliament House in Canberra. I hadn't been there for 36 years, so I was interested to see it again.

On this layout I used the misted background paper cut to fit on purple cardboard surround. I used the last of the curly lace/fibre on this, plus the last big wood veneer circle. Also 2 smaller pieces of patterned paper, 2 punchies and 3 buttons. I hand journalled instead of using a card.

NEXT DAY: I made this layout below to use the other 4 photos from Parliament house. It is a simple layout and doesn't exactly match, but that's ok.

It helped me use up the small circular alphas from Basic Grey. The navy washi tape was a good match for the top left photo.

Challenge #1 colour challenge.

We are asked to use all 3 main colours that are in the kit. That is, purples, teal and lime.

I started with a piece of 12x12 paper that was actually a Christmas paper with a purple frame. I used it along with a white/mauve polka dot paper as my background.

I had 3 photos one bigger and two smaller. I matted the big one with a neutral colour and the other 2 using my scraps I added to my kit.

Each photo has 3 colours as the mats with overlapping plains and patterned papers.

I used 2 strips of washi vertically between the photos as well. 20 years ago, when I started scrapping, I bought a kit featuring sea themed items. Included were 4 chipboard die cuts in lime with a thin frame around each one. I could never find a use for them until now. They feature on the right-hand side of this page. Title says This place and on the second page it says is beautiful.

                                                         **********************

Here's the second page of this double and the final stitched layout.

Snarky stampers

At Snarky stampers they want retro cards.

I had the picnic check paper already so thought of the 1970s and went with the orange, yellow and lime colours to make this card. I use 3 lots of washi tape and my sentiment square says sing, dance, dress up etc which could suit a birthday for somebody who remembers the era. (My age)

Daring cardmakers and AAA cards.

Daring Cardmakers has a collage challenge

I started with the patterned background then used scraps from my kit to do 3 vertical towers. Over the top I added my sentiment and a random thin tag I had in my stash from years ago. I also added a thin strip of Washi tape.

                                                      ****************************

AAAcards has a tag or ticket challenge.

I recently made some ASTs or tags using a cooking theme.  In this instance, I turned it into a baking card. I intend to give it to my neighbour, who often gives me a cake or two from a set she makes.

I inked the wood veneer word to match the rolling pin.

Soul scrappers Tic tac toe and Sketch and scrap.

Here is the sketch and scrap challenge.

I'm also combining it with Soul Scrappers tic tac toe challenge

My photos are Christmas ones, but it is more about spending time with my daughter. Because she lives interstate, I rarely see her.

I have put a sentence underneath the photos that says, "Our time together is never quite enough." That is very true. I've included cameras on the corners so for Tic tac toe I went across the middle line.

Paper Issue collage

Over at Paper Issues there was a scraplift. I Interpreted it my way using one of the forgery cardstocks.

I used a mask and created the dotty background with misting.

I used 3 strips of paper from yesterday's FFF layout. I added lace in purple plus some ricrac. A quote runs up the left hand side. I also added loops of twine, spectacles, fussy cut flowers, buttons, large wood veneers and a ribbon bow. I added a piece of card in navy and gold stripes. I also stamped stars.

Scraproom 2 layouts

The first layout is using this formula.

I chose colours of lavender and grey. It worked well with the photo of Mick and Dad. My title is small, but I didn't want it to dominate the photo. I also used a wood veneer moment, because it was a candid, unposed photo.

When we used to visit my aunt, it was customary to have an afternoon beer or drink with conversation. My cousin captured this moment in my aunt's kitchen.

I also added some washi tape under the photo and some buttons.

A simple layout and a happy memory.

                                                      **************************

The other layout is using the throwback sketch

I chose aqua tones on this photo. This is my aunt and 3 girl cousins.

The darker paper had a big tree on it which I didn't particularly like, so I overlapped the aqua paper to hide it. I had the Family is forever card which I cut to fit. The "cousin" paper is a scrap from that bundle I had in my kit. I added pink hearts from the storyteller range as well as some punched flowers. The teal colour matched my cousin's top. Once again, I used a wood veneer word; memories

Forgeries on the 4th

For my forgeries this month I used purple mist.

My first page bottom right, is straight out misting.

The top one was misted through a 12 x 12 mask of chicken wire.

The third one bottom left involved a 6x6 mask, so I got the lines on the edges. These will be covered up during my scrapping process.

Sunday 3 September 2023

Cardz4galz and Simon SAys.

At Cardz 4 Galz they wanted cute animals. That gives me a chance to use 3 porcupines I've been hording.

The top 2 are art of a border strip I've had for years and the other one came in a bag of die cuts. I also used a die cut sentiment and frame.

There's a family birthday coming up this week si it will be for that.

With the same background paper, I made another card for Simon Says stamp.

This time I used a co-ordinating aqua piece plus 2 tickets from my kit. I then stamped the star on the top and inked the "hello" sentiment. As a final touch I added a semi-circle of sparkle. This could be for any occasion.

Stick it down double sketch

Here's the stick it down double sketch. I had a series of 5 photos from when my back garden was tidied up and white pebbles put down, so here I am using them.

I started with 2 sheets of purple card and 2 sheets of spotted mauve paper.

I positioned my photos on the paper first. I then added a small scrap of floral paper to both corners, punching a border across the left hand one.

Added buttons and wood veneers as embellishments and a strip of washi plus journal tag.

The "stitch" on my editing software cut off the N but it is there.
Here are the separate pages.

And a close up

Saturday 2 September 2023

Rochelle Speares and Brenda's rewind sketch challenge.

I'm combining 2 challenges for this layout. My first for September.

I chose a neutral backed paper from my kit which looks something like a grid.

I've lightly misted in purple because that is one of the colours for Counterfeit kit, this month.

I had the title prepared already.

There are clocks, tape measure, spectacles, a bingo card and I even used book paper as one of my mats behind the photo. That covers the school items well and truly. As a final nod to school I added the black tassel as you might find on a graduation mortar board.

and some close ups

September Counterfeit Kit.

Spring has sprung here in Australia.

Here's Tina's choice for the kit this month.

"I've chosen a kit from the (Not) Just for Boys Kit Club its a retired kit from this past year. It has a bit of a masculine feel with no pink involved :) It also has a few of my favorite colors in it and some neutrals too.

"This is what they say about the kit: Combines green, teal, and purple hues, just like the Aurora Borealis, with some darker navy shades, making it perfect to document springtime moments with a masculine feel. "

(Not) Just for Boys Kit Club: "Aurora" Limitless Kit from April 2023

What's in the box???
I dug out this suitcase again so I can keep everything together.

Presenting my kit. SPRING PICNIC

To start my kit, I made the usual list, then set about finding similar items.

Firstly, my papers

There's a plaid, a brown spot, a stripe, some neutrals and a nod to the 3 central colours of purple, aqua and greens. Please excuse my photo, the sun was shining in the window, hence the shadows.
2 of the papers are forgeries.
I also added these papers after a friend de-stashed and gave me a bundle.
I added the 2 jars and wood veneers as well.

My embellishments

I've added 2 sets of alphas, plus the Basic Grey sheet of alphas I bought recently.
I gathered together purples, lime and aquas from my scrap bags as a nod to the 49 and Market art options ephemera pack.  I can layer those as needed.
There's a bag of punched flowers.
There are also the remaining words from Happy Days (last month), some neutral scraps, buttons, washi ribbon and a small flower mask. I'll add anything else I need as I go along.

NO arrows, cut files or frames but I can make those.

A big welcome to our Guest designer this month Jennifer Croasdale.

Now here's the blog hop.

That's all folks. Have a great month.
