Mixed media academy canvas

I've made a canvas for mixed media academy.

The theme is travel and I have used a photo I took in Venice ,Italy.

My mixed media compulsory element is stamp. I've used a "moments" word stamp in a few areas on the canvas. That was my starting point.

I then used Kaisercraft rub ons using words like love, promise, moment, happiness.

The background was painted with white gesso and I also used white gesso through a clock mask giving a raised texture.

Next I misted with tattered angels turquoise mist. The memory maze chipboard cogs were also misted and placed randomly on the canvas. White gauze was placed randomly both vertically and horizontally on the canvas too.

On the right hand side I glued Prima metallic pieces. I added blue foil them my photo and a flair from Shopevalicious. The canvas sticker and inked bird were then added.

I would dearly love to visit Venice again. Here's my canvas.

Tuesday Taggers part 2. and Li'l red wagon

At Tuesday Taggers the theme is birds.

I have already entered once but remembered I had this bird sticker,so made a tag. I used mist through a stencil first then inked in blue over the top. I drew the border with a zig pen and punched out the ribbon hole. Finally I added my sticker.

Haven't decided how I'll use this tag yet hence no ribbon. It might even go on a Christmas card perhaps.

At Li'l Red Wagon there is a faces challenge.

I've made a motivational card for my sister's Grandson. He is doing his final high school exams soon (in the middle of covid lockdown) . I thought he needed a boost!

The face on the front is from a CD cover. The actual disc broke, but I kept this as I  thought I'd use it somehow. I trimmed the picture then added my sentiment.

Scraproom Group colour challenge.

The Scraproom Group on facebook has a colour challenge.

I found a striped paper that was perfect and used a big red doiley as my backing. My photo was matted on the dark blue and I used a paler blue as my ribbon across the layout.

I had some die cuts which worked perfectly as well for corner tabs and the ribbon loop. I kept the rest fairly plain.

Tuesday Taggers and Shopping our stash

I've made this card for Tuesday Taggers where their theme is birds.

I had a large owl picture that I've decided to use. I added rhinestone eyes and doodled around the eye area to make it more pronounced. My background had grey with fine grey stripes. Using bubble wrap and Versa Lavender ink I added the spotted areas. My sentiment is from a set of die cuts.

It is a long narrow card to suit the picture.

My next item is a tag for Shopping our stash challenge. They wanted bugs. I made one using the same inked bubble wrap and added butterflies. I put forever as my sentiment as I'm thinking I might use it next year on Valentines Day. I've purposely not added ribbon yet but the hole is punched ready to go.

The pink background is just for scanning purposes.

Autumn Lane challenge

Finally the double sided tape has arrived and I can scrapbook again!
I'm doing the challenge at Autumn lane which is a sketch.

I started by dribbling red mist on the background then added a chipboard chicken wire that I had.
I then glued Autumn Lane flowers and wood veneer maple leaves to form 2 clusters. (Maple leaves look a bit like grape leaves).

Next I mounted my photo on bright orange card and adhered it. By now the layout had an autumn toned feel.
I did my journalling and added 2 blue arrows . Lastly I inked some flowers on the background cardstock using pinecone ink.

I'm really happy with how this turned out!

Challenge #2 at Counterfeit Kit challenge

At CKC we are asked to use a foreign language on a layout.

Using the jumpstart sketch from The Scraproom, I've made this layout featuring wine and a fireplace in the background. I had a recent holiday at the Hunter Valley where I tasted local wines. On this occasion it included dinner so I put these 2 photos on Facebook.

Sante is "cheers" in French.

All papers and embellishments are from my Counterfeit kit.

Sketches in Thyme

At Sketches in Thyme here's the July sketch.

I've chosen 2 photos  of animals I saw on Kangaroo Island, back in March. The first was a hen that was hanging around where we stopped for a coffee. The second is the only kangaroo I saw on Kangaroo island. They had a bushfire recently so the population of animals was decimated.

I've used blues with a small amount of red and yellow. The K .I. stands for Kangaroo Island.

Here's my layout.

Rochelle Spears and Scrap with Stacy.

My next layout is for Rochelle Speares challenge and I'm combining it with Scrap with Stacy at Scrappy friends who has this grid. I went down the right hand column.

Here's Rochelle's sketch.

I used gold alphas and heart brads. There are 2 photos and 2 journal cards plus several words. These meerkats were at Adelaide Zoo and so amusing to watch.

Paper Issues -Check out the scenery challenge And Challenge YOUrself.

We are asked to use this moodboard to start a layout.
Here's my layout and explanation.

The orange flowers on the right helped me choose this paper. I used map paper, plus the aqua colour as well as an arrow in my title. I hand journalled as in the book middle left.

This was on my travels to Soth Australia where I met up with a friend after 20 years apart. She picked me up in her car and drove me around Adelaide (bottom middle photo)

I've also decided to use this for Challenge YOUrself where we are asked to use shapes.

I've used 2 circles plus several smaller inked ones and a circular paperclip. There is also a big circle on the background paper.

The mat is a square as is the knife and fork on the left, the 2 signs right of the photo are rectangles.

Scrap our stash

At Scrap our stash they have a remix challenge where we have to use a puffy sticker or embellishment.

I'm in the middle of a covid lockdown here in Sydney so can't get out to buy puffy stickers. I have used a 3D vellum butterfly which I hope qualifies me ,plus the title "family" is actually puffy.

I used papers from my Counterfeit kit on this layout and used a set of photos from a school pack I had.It is as close as I can get to original.

Paper Issues -Asking for directions

 (4) Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} | Facebook

Here's the link to the group. My recipe for this is at the bottom of this page.

I started with the 12x12 as my background.

Next I used the 6x12 vertically down the left hand side. The 2 (4x6) papers are mats for my photo and tag.

The 1x9 forms a border along the bottom of the layout.

I used 3 wood veneer stars. From those I stitched beams or rays radiating out.

My 6 ephemera are enamel dots on tag, the sign saying let's go somewhere far away, the yellow flower brad above it, the spotted ribbon on bottom border, the gold button also sewn on  and the hexagon containing the journalling.

Here's my layout

and close ups of cluster and sewing.

We don’t want you getting lost on our road trip this month, so make sure you are following these directions and use the following items on your project. 2 (4x6) papers, 1 (12x12) paper, 1 (6x12) paper, 1 (1x9) paper, 3 stars, 6 ephemera, stitching (real or faux).

Paper issues challenge.

Go grab your suitcase and load it up with everything you need for this challenge. What have you decided to pack? Use 5 of the following items on your project: cloud, green, car, stripes, envelope, camera, banner, blue, star, twine.

On my layout I've used green, car, stripes, banner and twine.

I also managed to get the zoo ticket on this layout.

Use your stuff

At Use your stuff the theme is black and white with a pop of colour.

I used a background paper on my card which was mainly black and white but there was a touch of pink in one corner. I used that as my start and added a pink and white ribbon. My other embellishments were black and white.

Counterfeit Kit July 2021.

Paper Person April 2021 kit - "Episode" is the Counterfeit kit for this month.

This is an interesting kit.

Here's my take on it.
BLUE DREAM
I forged one of the papers. See FOTF.

My embellishments are light on, so I can add what I need as I go along.
There's journal cards, washi tape, ric rac, mini sayings and card sentiments in the green.
Also stamps with a transport/travel
 theme.

Alphas
I'm scrapping zoo animals, so the leopard print alphas come out again!
The brown will go with both blues and oranges.

Shopping our stash.

I'm still working through that bright orange cardstock so when I saw a tropical challenge, I thought it suited.

Shopping our stash  is the blog site and I used a pineapple as my main focus.
