Dragonfly dreams and others

At dragonfly dreams they want Christmas or winter.
Cardz4guyz wants a similar theme

I've chosen a snowflake theme for my card. The sentiment and small snowflakes are from a Kaisercraft set of embellishments.

Also at Tuesday Throwdown they want punny sentiments.
I made a bon voyage card with the sentiment Travel notes. I used music paper as my background.
Thereby a pun on the word notes.
I added keys as the keys to your hotel room door.

Avenue 613

At  613 Avenue there is an anything goes challenge with an option to scrap your stash.

I'm finishing off this month's kit so used a photo of us at Cirque Du Soleil. I started by layering all the strips of paper I had left ,tearing the edges.
Next I matted my photo then made a banner for top left from scraps.
I used the 2 remaining tags I had plus tickets, a button, a wood veneer star and fussy cut 2 cameras from another scrap of paper.
The 2 grey corner triangles added to the diagonal line.

All this left me with nothing in my kit. I have thoroughly scrapped my stash.
Here's proof !
Nothing left in my tray or on the paper stacker.

Shopping our stash

This is the time of the year when people need Thank you cards for workmates or friends who have helped throughout the year.
At Shopping our stash they have a thankful challenge.
I used a small piece of patterned paper and 2 strips of washi including one that has the sentiment on it.

Scrap the boys

The theme at Scrap the boys this month is Superhero.

I didn't think I had anything remotely on the theme but then found this photo of Christopher flexing his muscles. Hopefully it qualifies.

I used the cog idea on my banner plus the 3 larger ones on the page. The yellow background is even all the way around but was cut off at the bottom in the scanner.

Word art Wednesday

I've made a card using scraps from CKC papersI layered vellum over the spotted paper then the black, and 3 different pinks.6 layers in all. I also used a scrap matching the horizontal on the card and hand wrote my sentiment. The finishing touch was some faux stitching.

I'm entering it at Word Art Wednesday where anything goes.

Mystical cybercrop sketch

Mystical Scrapbooking has a cyber crop this weekend.
This is for the sketch challenge,

I've used all Counterfeit kit items including the FWAB flourish. It added that touch of copper that the layout needed.
The original sketch called for 2 photos but I had 3 so I used them.
The journal strips are those cut offs from the bottom of papers.

Here's the sketch

Rochelle Speares challenge

This is the sketch at the Rochelle Spears challenge

I'm using up the last of the yellows and greys from my Counterfeit Kit on this layout.I copied the sketch fairly closely doing hand stitching in the top corner and journaling on the narrow strips.
I wanted to use the ticket from the show somehow so it became my title.(Not the most decorative but at least it is on there)
My photos featured tawny browns and oranges which dictated the tones of the flower.
I used tiny blue/grey Prima flowers to match the ticket.

White with one

The challenge at White with One is black and white.
A few years ago when yarn bombing was all the go, I saw this caravan wearing a knitted cover in white wool. It was at the Easter show in the wool promotion area. I just had to take a photo.

I've used a wide stripe black and white background with white texture paste through a cog mask to create interest.
Adding washi tape to my horizontal and a handmade flower with white lace adds some texture.
I matted my photo on horizontal striped paper for contrast.

Scrap our stash challenge

At Scrap our stash we are asked to pick a side and use scallops.

I've chosen the left hand side.
I started with a piece of Ruby Rock-it scalloped edge paper that I had used elsewhere.(This was an offcut).
I've used yellow papers otherwise. I chose 3 photos from our visit to Cirque Du Soleil "Kurios". We took several before it started. As well as the tabs on the side, I added buttons ,washi tape plus a brad ended title saying "Enjoy the ride".

Lasting Memories-plaid

Lasting Memories wants plaid this time.
On this layout I used a plaid paper from all my memories.
I whitewashed it with paint as well as the chicken wire chipboard.
I added other matching embellishments, plus washi tape.

The story behind this is a lady I know made this beautiful dress for a Barbie doll and entered it in the Royal Easter show. We went to see it.

Crafter's cafe and Male room challenge

I'm using items from my Counterfeit kit on this card.
Crafter's Café wants a pocket card and it must have flora or fauna.

I've had this pocket featuring an old plane for years. It makes a perfect man's card with the grey and navy trims. My sentiment says Happy Birthday and I popped an owl on top.

It is also entered at Male Room where they want hobbies.
I'm sure there are men out there interested in planes and flight.(I used to live next door to one).

Paper Issues Take 5 challenge

I chose a pre made title, 3x4 card, green, washi tape and layers.
Most of what is on here is from my Counterfeit kit, excluding the pineapple paper.

Daring Cardmakers

Daring cardmakers wants us to be inspired by a Christmas carol or song.

I've chosen "O holy night" but it could also be "silent night".

My sentiment says Holy night as I only had one O left from the Darkroom door alphas.
I added a 3D leaf near the top with magic mount to highlight my picture.

Cute card Thursday and Christmas cards all year round.

After making the girly Christmas card, I decided to do a boy card.
I've used blue and gold as my main colours.
I had Peanuts stickers so used the boys on this plus a Ho Ho Ho I've recycled.
I'm entering this at Cute card Thursday where Festive is their theme.
I'm entering it at Christmas cards all year round where they want winter clothing.

Fusion card challenge

At Fusion card challenge there is this

I thought I'd make a Christmas thank you card. I sell many cards to teachers so these will be well received.
The felt hats add a festive touch and I used Darkroom door alpha strips for my sentiment.

I've used the same background paper and letters on this next card for Crafty Calendar challenge.

The theme is cute and girly so I added some Peanuts gang stickers (girls) and gold washi tape down the right hand side.

ABC Christmas challenge and Watercooler Wednesday.

ABC Christmas challenge has W for wreath and X for Faux.

I'm still working with smaller size cards to fit the envelopes I have so here's another 9cm x 13cm card.
I layered 4 layers, including vellum then faux stitched around the blue layer.
All made from scraps, so very economical.

My second card this morning is for Watercooler Wednesday where they have all occasions.
Mine of course, is Christmas.

I used a tartan background and tied a big bow for the middle.
The snowflakes which are printed on the tartan are the same bottle green colour.
Hope you like it!

Sketch 'n'scrap

Here's the card sketch at Sketch 'n'scrap

I'm still making Christmas cards and using green tones on this one.
My card is reasonably small so couldn't get much on there. 13cm x 9cm.
Here it is.

Dream valley challenges

At Dream Valley Challenges they want a card that is glittery.
I had some white shimmer card in my stash plus gold ribbon that has a metallic finish.
I combined the two and came up with this card.

Scrap room sketch and Lasting Memories.

This morning I made this layout for the scraproom sketch.

It is based around a memory I have from early childhood. Long before people put up Christmas lights in their houses, a few factories would make a special effort for Christmas.
Dad used to take us to see the Christmas lights at the ETA factory near Marrickville.
To a 5 year old me, it was magical.

I'm pleased to have used the Kaisercraft Merry Christmas letters which have been in my stash for so long. I also added the Cherish card plus a few brads and enamel dots. The small gold Christmas card was cut from an old card. The washi tape and gold doiley is from my Counterfeit kit this month.

Here's the sketch
Also at the Scrap Room they have this challenge
I used everything from my Counterfeit kit on this layout.
The papers were yellow and greys. I added navy washi tape plus a gold star washi as well.
The other embellishments are from scraps.
The alphas are an accu-cut machine set of letters at least 10 years old.

I'm also using this layout for the striped paper challenge at Lasting memories

Friday 8 November 2019

Challenge Yourself and sketches in Thyme

At Challenge Yourself it is about Friends.

and at Sketches in Thyme they have this sketch.

I'm combining the two.
Using 2 photos of friends including me wearing the black pants in the bottom photo, I constructed my layout.
I have kept as close to the sketch as I can.

My explanation for the title is X = kisses, but it occurred to me that we are now all divorced so that makes us ex wives.

Li'l red wagon and Cardz4guyz

Li'l red wagon wants us to use a speech bubble.

This card is gift card size but I managed to use some of my kit items on here.
The fox washi tape came in handy on this plus I had a scrap of corrugated card and some twine as well.
Hope you like it!

And at Cardz 4 guyz they want us to feature something all wrapped up.
I made a collage card using some little pictures I had featuring people in winter clothes at Christmas.

Wednesday 6 November 2019

Lasting memories polkadots.

At Lasting Memories they ask for polkadots.
I had 2 dotted papers in my Counterfeit kit so used both on this layout.
It is an old photo that a friend found in her box of memories and features myself and ex husband when we first moved to the country town of Goulburn. They are a family of mainly women so using pink was appropriate.

I decided to cut curves and make a feature down one side ,then complimented that with doileys.
The buttons add some interest.
My title was ready made but also curvy so suited this layout.

Monday 4 November 2019

Use your stuff use your scraps.

The new challenge at Use your stuff is use your scraps.

I had 2 layouts featuring lilac today, so used the remaining paper to make this card.

We hope you will join in the fun.

At Unstampabelles they want a tropical theme "Paradise pretties" with a twist, into the wild.

I made this layout in blues and greens mainly
I've also used string, 2 x ricrac, a shiny clear chiffon ribbon plus buttons.
The two ivory(?) or bone rings are from an old button box.
My title and the flower on the right are from Crate Paper "Oasis" range.

The flower on the right to me is pretty and the green leaf paper hints at wild.

Let's get sketchy

At Let's get sketchy there is the above sketch.

Because I put grey in my Counterfeit kit, I wanted to use some of it. The background paper was perfect for this wedding layout (from the 1980s.). I conveniently had a journal card saying just married, so used it instead of a second photo.
I used washi tape threaded through paper buckles for my corner pieces.
The wood veneer stars came in handy also.

Kraft plus

The challenge at Kraft plus is to be inspired by floral art.
I had the perfect photo for this that Erica took at night time Floriade in Canberra.
It features colours of purples and yellows mainly. So I went with that colour scheme.

My layout is here.

I painted the yellow flowers as they were apricot and used magic mount behind the fussy cut orchids.
The black FWAB stem was perfect for this and the brads had flowers too.

Friday 1 November 2019

Night time in pink.

I'm starting my kit this month by using some of the pink paint I included in my kit.
It is an old Li'l Davis metallic Shades paint in rose.
It has almost dried up so I cut the end and added some water to help spread it.
I decided it needed to be a mixed media layout so used distressed ink on bubble wrap over the paint then stamped using a floral stamp. The paper I matted the top photo on featured tulips, very appropriate :)
I also used a tag plus some quotes and 2 photos of  my daughter at Floriade night time event.

November Counterfeit kit

There's lots of winter colours and ideas here. (Might keep me cool here in sunny OZ)
I'm approaching this a different way this month since I have TOO MANY PAPERS !!!!

I dug out all my greys, mustard/gold tones and blush pinks.
Then I made this list:
coffee mug
pink & white with dots
grey with mustard dots
wide painted stripes
Cozy, happy, cold,
add a little sparkle
grid with splotches
a touch of navy/darker blue.
I found stamps of clouds, banner (to replace lights) and a mason jar (to replace coffee cups).
I found die cut snowflakes
 wood veneer houses and stars
 silver and navy washi tape
gold doileys
white and bronze coloured pearl dots
tags in grey and mustard and blush
paint in gold and pink. I can make grey with black and white mixture.

Presenting my November kit

Papers in colour groups: Greys
And my embellishments

That's it for this month!
