Use your stuff and Daring cardmakers.

I have some BIG NEWS.
I have been asked to be on Use your Stuff's design team.
Keep your eyes out on their blog for my debut!

In the meantime the current challenge is stickers.

I've made a card using all stickers.
The oval stickers I have had for ages(years). The leaves which are glittery are from a set of Halloween stickers I bought in America . My sentiment is yet another sticker.
******************************************************************************

Daring cardmakers asked us to focus on our pattern papers. I used 2 different papers on my card which is lovely and bright to cheer someone's day.
It could be either male or female.

Case this sketch and Seize the birthday

Over at Case this sketch there is this design and Seize the birthday wants the whole card covered.

Using the pink and white bicycle theme I made this card.

Another small narrow card for Fusion challenge.

I found papers that featured triangles. The background had pennants made of triangles, the strips of stars are made up of triangles and the pencils behind the sentiment contain triangles too.

Shopping our stash/Through the purple haze

At Shopping our stash they want PUNs on cards.
At through the purple haze challenges they want male cards.

I've made this Father's day card featuring a bottle going Pop for a pop and also included a bottle cap instead of the O.
Hope you "get the pun".

Sketch Saturday.

Here's the sketch at Sketch Saturday.

As you can see I put a Christmas twist on it this time.I added an extra layer across the middle with my spotted tag and a couple of green brads.
I like this sketch and might be mass producing these this year.
I'm also entering this at Crafty Hazelnuts.

Catch the Bug and Mojo Monday

I'm using up long skinny envelopes, so have made these 2 cards.
The first is for Catch the Bug where they have a recipe challenge.
2 papers, 2 ribbons, 2 buttons.

I've followed that recipe and one of my ribbons is ricrac. I hope that is okay.

My second card is for Mojo Monday
The measurements are different but it looks the same.

Mojo Monday Sketch 518 by Julee Tilman | poeticartistry.blogspot.com

My next card is for Inkspirational where the word is garden.

Out comes my big chrysanthemum stamp again! I use this more than any other I own.
It always makes a splash on my cards.

I put the background paper through the cuttlebug to emboss it with script.
Next I stamped my flower then fussy cut it out. I adhered it with magic mount so it stands up off the card slightly.
I added a small scrap of patterned paper at the bottom then my sentiment.

Sketchy Boards challenge

I'm entering this last layout for my June kit in Sketchy Boards challenge

I couldn't use their sketch as I only had one sheet of scrapbooking paper plus scraps.
The striped rainbow paper inspired the whole thing.
I've used some of my die cuts including the flamingo on my page too..
The border strip across the bottom matched beautifully. It is an old Sassafrass Lass sticker.

Here's my layout.

Mystical and scraproom combo.

I'm combining 2 challenges with this layout.
I've used and old papermaps sketch for the Scraproom's throwback sketch, and combined it with Mystical's tic tac toe challenge.
I went down the right hand column.

I had a pebbles ink kit which I used most of on this.

*******************************************************************************
I still had some papers left from the kit so made this second layout to enter at Scrapping4fun challenge.
The theme is Birthday. Happy 6th Birthday Scrapping 4 Fun. I was pleased top be part of your DT in the early days.

My layout features my friend's daughter Megan on her 30th Birthday,
I didn't get a cake photo but caught her leaping in the air to high 5 this huge inflatable smiley man.
It summed up her happiness and think it shows that birthdays are worth celebrating.

I used a green velvet ribbon as my feature plus a Sassafrass Lass banner saying love that has been in my stash for maybe 10 years.

Colour throwdown and Freshly made sketches.

I looked at this then at my scraps on my desk and it was as if they could see into my room.
I've layered 3 pattern papers after distressing the edges.
The top blue layer is a tag which was already distressed. I added 2 floral motifs for BFF.
I can see this working for a tweenage girl about 12.

******************************************************************************
At Freshly made sketches they have this sketch

I put my own interpretation on it and came up with this.
My alphas are bigger, so they go across the middle.

The Male Room

At the male room they want cooking or baking related cards.

I was given some embellishments on Saturday and amongst them was this table setting of food etc.
It was perfect for this challenge!

Christmas cards all year round and Daring Cardmakers

At Christmas cards all year around they want garland, leaves or Christmas flowers.

I'm recycling where I can so found this cute wreath from another used card. I added gold ribbon plus a strip of red and my sentiment.

I've made another Christmas card for Daring Cardmakers where the theme is things that fly.
I've chosen a jolly pair of owls for my card.

Tuesday 18 June 2019

use your stuff & as you like it.

At Use your stuff  there is a mood board.

I was inspired by the feathers and the green zigzags in the centre.

I started with a paint chip (from my Counterfeit kit) and added white paint through a mask to form the chevron pattern.
Next I added ribbon down the opposite side, it has a geometric pattern.
I adhered that to the card then glued a matching feather above the sentiment.

This was a fun card to make.
It is also entered at Get Creative challenges where we are asked to use favourite colour combo.
My friends will tell you I like anything green/jade/aqua.

********************************************************************************
I've used a similar pain chip on this card for As you like it challenge.
The challenge is your favourite brand of stamp and why?

There isn't much choice in Australia but I do own a few Kaisercraft stamps. Both the bee and the Happy Birthday are by them.

I added a couple of organza flowers for my bees to pollinate and a co-ordinating strip down the RHS.
This one was photographed because of the pearls sticking up.

Challenge #2 Circles

At Counterfeit Kit we are asked to use circles on a layout.
Here's my layout.

I've used 2 polka dots paper and the forged dot paper on this one. Then I added a circle card with a flower and 2 large brads, plus 2 smaller brads and a circular paper clip.
Hope this inspires you.

I'm also highlighting this old layout of mine where I used walnut ink to make "coffee stains" on my layout.
Perhaps one of these will inspire you.

Rochelle Speares challenge.

Here's the sketch at Rochelle spears

I had to photograph my finished layout because those flowers are impossible to stitch.
Despite the appearance, the ribbon at the top does not curve and is straight.

I used all Counterfeit Kit items and the big circle contains my title.
We visited the kiwi enclosure in New Zealand and I held a toy one.

Li'l red wagon and Words to craft by.

At Li'l red wagon they want sea themed and Words to craft by want Running barefoot.

I've combined the two challenges and made this summer themed card.
It could be for a variety of reasons or just because it is summer.
(Unfortunately here,it is mid winter!) One can dream :)

Sketch Saturday

I'm making a card for Sketch Saturday

I've used a slight variation on the sketch by putting my sentiment underneath but t still basically resembled the sketch.
The bird was fussy cut by me.

Scrap our stash

I've chosen the left hand side page and have worked with a green and white theme.

Thursday 13 June 2019

CHallenge Yourself and Kraft +

I'm combining 2 challenges with this layout, Kraft + and Challenge YOUrself

I took nature from the first challenge and the grid idea from the second.
There is a small picture of me, bottom right.
On the grid are birds, leaves, flower, vines, clover etc.
Despite only using one patterned paper, I added texture with my embossing and the pinecone ink treatment.
The brads contain patterns too.

The scanner cut off the bottom. The squares are complete and there is a small border of craft colour

Lasting Memories

At Lasting Memories they want vacation photos.
I'm using another of my crazy papers. A diagonal striped paper that was very bright.
I decided to go bright all the way through with this one.
Warning Sunglasses required!

The background cardstock matched exactly to one of the stripes.
The ribbon I used across under the photo is also bright and co-ordinated.
The windmills are pastel and the pattern on the lower one  matched the ribbon.
Again, the square brad on the tag matched perfectly.

This was a beautiful lunch we had overlooking the bay at Akaroa in New Zealand.

ABC Christmas challenge.

As you saw from my last post I've made a start on Christmas cards.

This one is for the following challenges.

anything goes at Holly & Ivy

L is for Little at ABC Christmas Challenge

anything goes/snowflakes at Christmas at Sweet Stampin'

I chose 3 felt gingerbread men left over from last years Christmas cardmaking.
They are about 1 inch high so qualify for "little".

My sentiment makes this an amusing card "My Christmas wishlist" for someone who loves these cookies.

There are also snowflakes on the background paper.

Sunday 9 June 2019

Li'l red wagon and Jingle Belles.

Over at Li'l red wagon they ask for baby cards.
A friend's nephews wife has just had a baby boy so I made little Jack a card.

The top half of the card is cut from the reverse side of one of my Counterfeit kit papers and the background is a large journaling card.

Next is a card for Jingle Belles featuring Santa.
I fussy cut the Santa from an old Christmas card and mounted him on background paper which features Christmas words. I added a pearl to his hat.

Saturday 8 June 2019

Scraproom Freaky fast formula

I chose purple & lilac tones for my page and used scraps from a dotty page in my Counterfeit kit.
The background cardstock had a plaid pattern on it so I decided to go with chevrons and lines in my other papers.
I cut the 2x12 in half longways and put a strip at top and bottom.
The other half was used in the centre.

Next I layered the other 2 bigger papers to use as my photo mat.
The 2 inch square I put top left.

I added some flowers and a title and here it is.

Daring Cardmakers

There is an element challenge at Daring Cardmakers.

I have chosen a large journal card as my background in a dusty grey blue and featuring subtle white flowers. It reminded me of the top 2 left hand side papers.
Next I found a strip of woodgrain paper to use as a band across.
My third element is fabric designed paper resembling the top right hand side "fabric" under the 3 green squares.
I added 3 pale aqua enamel dots as a finishing touch.

Artastic

The challenge at Artastic is Children playing.

I bought a Heidi Grace kit at Lincraft and it was ideal for this challenge.
I used a Purple pumpkin Monkey and navy chenille buttons but the remainder is Heidi Grace.
Even though it was raining the kids made the most of the weather and took a picnic umbrella outside to play under. They saw a rainbow and were so excited.
Oh the miracles of nature and the innocence of childhood!

I just discovered I made top 3 at Cardz4guyz with my snoopy running on the beach card.
Here's what they said!
Julene (Australia)
A brilliant piece of recycling.
Another card which made me laugh.

Wednesday 5 June 2019

Let's get sketchy.

Let's get sketchy has this sketch

I've decided to use one of my scary papers as the top part of this layout.
It is the bright SEI "on the coast" paper and let me say it looked really frightening as a whole piece but once torn, it improved.

The other fine lined paper is Cocoa Vanilla You Rock.
I started by inking through a clock mask using "old paper" distress ink. It gives a great olive green/dirty brown look.

Next I cut my 3 background strip pieces, in co-ordinating papers.
My photo features me and Barbara on the caterpillar ride through Christchurch Botanical gardens.
For my cluster,I adhered a large green flower from D-Lish scraps in the corner plus a small label.
I also added a large punched green flower and 2 strips from MME "Lost and Found" range.

I sewed 3 buttons on, 2 black and one watering can shaped.(on the right above the flower)
I added a few enamel dots and there you have it!

This is also being entered as Mystical scrapbook's monthly challenge where inking through a mask is the criteria.

CSI 278

This is one of the June challenges at CSI.

First I went to Chip it

Mum and Dad used to talk about Australia Hotel near central station where they spent their wedding night. I never bothered to ask about seeing it.Last week I found a photo on Facebook (where else?) in a Vintage Sydney group. I printed it off and decided to use it for this layout.
                                          ****************************
I chose a neutral paper from Kaisercraft Barber Shoppe collection.
Next I found another old paper which featured sewing instructions for Edwardian times. One of the pictures was similar to the lady in the sketch.
I mounted the photo then used white paint lightly to cover the paper.
Next I tore some muslin for another layer then dressmaker paper pattern tissue on top of that.I've lightly inked the fabric with pinecone to age it. I stitched the fabric to the backing paper then added a small scrap of cream lace peeping underneath.
All this made me think of antique buttons so out came my white button jar where I found old wood, mother of pearl and plastic buttons.
I had another paper featuring maps which matched the colours in the sketch so added it down the left hand side.
Next I layered a set of tags I had in various sizes.(11 th pack of embellishments which just matched perfectly).
I used DYMO for my title.

OLDER PAPERS                                                       LAYERS AND TUCK
WET MEDIUM (PAINT)                                           USE GESSO TO COVER UP
LACE
FABRIC
AGED PAPER

Christmas Card Throwdown

My card is for Christmas Card Throwdown where they have this sketch

I used a plaid theme for my background and ribbon.
My picture is mounted on foam core board.
The sentiment features cork alphas.

I'm also entering at Cute and Crafty Christmas

Scraproom Jumpstart sketch and Paper issues

At the scraproom this is their jumpstart sketch.

I have a group of about 10 photos of the punting and boatsheds in Christchurch so have decided to do a double pager, with this as my first page.

The bottom 2 photos are overlapped to form a panorama of the boatsheds. The oars, punt and straw boater are all hand drawn on scraps.
My title was the sign at the front of the boatshed.

What you can't see is I have used 2 packaging cardboards behind the photos.
All items are from my Counterfeit kit.

For the second page I'm using the Take 5 challenge at Paper Issues.

For my layout I have chosen metallic brads that are blue, layers, a quote, hand journaling done vertically . That's 5.

And here's the 2 page combination. (9 photos in all.)
