Use Your stuff- Inspired by a book.

I'm scrapping 2 photos from Anne of Green Gables house on Prince Edward Island,Canada.

As a long time fan of the books I just had to go there! Visiting Anne's house was a bucket list item.

I chose an old paper with green flowers, now partly covered up. I used other strips of green, a clock face, old fashioned wagon and lace doiley. The grass strips are from a now defunct shop, "Flourish with a bling".

Lastly I added a maple leaf and tiny flowers.

Cardz4guyz and The male room.

 At Cardz4guyz they want wheels.

I've had this picture cut from an old encyclopedia that I was throwing out for years. I knew I would use it eventually.

I'm now making Father's Day cards and this one is for a grandpa. I kept it simple but couldn't resist adding the 3 pearls at the bottom.

********************************************************************************

Meanwhile at the Male room they want wood.

I searched through all my papers and even my scraps, but didn't have any wood textures. I thought about trees and found a photo of trees from Darkroom Door. I used that as a Thank You card for a man.

Lasting memories-black and white

At Lasting memories this week they want a black and white layout with a small pop of colour.

I'll swear I'm psychic at times. I have just returned from getting my 13  Panda photos developed.

We saw them at Adelaide Zoo and as I arrived there just after 9am, saw them at their best. Wang wang the boy panda, was busy exploring his enclosure and very active. This meant great shots of him "doing his thing".

I used 2 Bella papers on this ,plus a 6x6 paper featuring plants. My pop of colour is green in the tree on the left and tab on the right. There's many words on this from a collection of DArkroom door strips that a friend gave me. Hope you enjoy looking!

I'm honoured that I've been chosen as Guest designer next month at Lasting Memories and looking forward to it.

Also I was top 3 at Li'l red wagon this time.

Atlantic hearts challenge

I appear to have been doing some mind reading.

Atlantic hearts challenge has this sketch.

Early this morning, before I looked through card challenges, I made this card. I was using up chipboard shapes. It is close enough, so I'm entering it.

The little envelope opens up so a secret message can be written inside.

Sketch Saturday and others

I'm using up the very end of my kit by making cards. On this one there are 2 small squares from Simple stories , a 3D blue butterfly, a strip of gold lace and a black strip of paper. I added a sentiment.

My next card is for Inkspirational challenges where they have this picture as inspiration.

I just happened to have a yellow taxi in a set of words I used for the kit.

I used a grey strip across which has been embossed with swiss dots. (It wouldn't be a road if it didn't have potholes, LOL).

I've kept the card very CAS with just that picture plus my sentiment.

Scrap our Stash 2nd challenge and Scrapchallenge YOUrself.

Here's the 2nd sketch for the month and we need to use arrow embellishments.

I'm combining it with Scrapchallenge yourself Alphabet soup.

We need to feature items of the same letter on our layout

The photo I used on this is similar to last month's challenge yourself, in fact it is the one I rejected. I'm squinting.

I'm using S as my letter so you have sea-lion, sewing (buttons), summer, sub titles, stones, sloped arrows, subtle colours, square brad. I think that is enough!!

I have used the sketch challenge so there's another S.

Hope you like it, I even managed some Hessian on this one.

End of kit and Lasting Memories.

My last 2 layouts with my Counterfeit kit this month.

The first was for Paper Issues scraplift of the week.

I saw this beautiful shell while I was away in South Australia. For my layout, I tried to pick up some of the colours I see in the shell. Pinks and greens mainly. This allowed me to use the bright pink spotted paper plus scraps and cut up some 6X6 papers I have. I used the lasy of my lime green twine as well.

My next was for Lasting memories, where this time they wanted flowers and a tag.

These sunrise photos were very special and I managed to fit 3 of the 5 on this page.(Watch out for the other 2 coming up soon.

I have used 2 tags-the journal square and the geotag one, both in my kit. I found 3 orange toned flowers and leaves.

This ends my kit, except for maybe tags or smaller cards.

Paper Issues sketch

Here's the weekly sketch at Paper Issues group on Facebook.
It gives great opportunity to layer up smaller pieces and especially pocket cards, tabs etc.

I chose another paper from my counterfeit kit as a starting point. Also on here are 2 chipboard pieces (fishing nets) that I've had for ages and I'm so pleased to use. The other papers etc are from my stash and include 2 basic grey tags I've had for maybe 10 years.
I also misted through a spotted mask to provide some background for the top right area.
Kangaroo Island is famous for fishing and this cove is where most crabs and lobsters are found.

Some close ups:

And my final layout

2 cards 2 challenges.

My first card is for Cardz4guyz where we are asked to use something new.

The card/picture in the centre is from St Tropez notecards collection. I bought it recently on sale.

This second card is for Li'l red wagon where they want something "in the air".
I've used a bird sticker ,plus some smaller items from my counterfeit kit on here.

Lasting Memories 4x4 photos and Unstampabelles.

I'm still using my Counterfeit kit and had this busy floral paper left.

In my holiday photos was 3 photos of the sea eagle at the raptor show, so decided to use those plus a journal card to create a square for my layout. There is also vellum plus blue paper on this, washi tape, as well as a couple of simple floral embellishments and my silver alphas.

I'm also adding it at Unstampabelles where the theme is animals with a twist to layer it up.

Use your stuff -Easter or Spring.

I'm on the design team for Use your stuff where the current theme is Easter or Spring.

Challenge #1

 Counterfeit Kit Challenge #1

Now that I have you in a playful mood how about using some whimsy on your page by layering your patterned papers to fashion your own background with scenery & puffy clouds?  Your kit has already taken the work out of coordinating the products, so feel free to mix & match those patterns. And if that’s a little too overwhelming? Just layer them up behind your photo(s)!

This had me comfused to start with until I looked through my photos. There were 2 of a High Tea I attended recently. We were holding cups. On that day we discussed who would do the washing up as they are bone china and therefore not suitable for dishwashers. I found this on Pinterest.

Using vellum I traced over the cups then cut them out separately. These were then traced on to patterned papers to create my cups. I stacked them on my layout.

Next I thought of vellum bubbles, an old idea but a good one. I hand cut those too by tracing around a button then cutting. It was good to give my vellum tape an airing and use it.

Here's a close up so you can see my handiwork.

And finally my layout.

Sketch'n'scrap

Here's the sketch for Sketch 'n' scrap

I've used 2 papers from my kit plus lots of offcuts. The red was to add contrast and match the red top on the lighthouse. All other papers were from my kit or tiny scraps.
The arrows were on a Simple stories card that I cut apart and the bird stickers were an old set I bought about 3 years ago. Alphas are Echo Park "for the record"

White with One

Here is the sketch we are asked to use at White with One.

The featured colour is

After looking through my papers I managed to find a peachy paper that will serve the purpose.

I stitched it at the top with cream thread. After mounting my 3 photos I stuck them then used white and peachy ribbon to highlight.(Trying desperately to use up those ribbons!)

Next I cut out the shape for my title background and placed that. In my kit I had the echo park alphas for kookaburra and a small card saying hello. There was also a tab saying laugh which was appropriate.

I added by small journal block plus a butterfly and "Let your dreams take flight"

Thursday 8 April 2021

Jumpstart sketch at The Scraproom.

There is a Jumpstart sketch, also at Scraproom.

Using pastel papers from my kit I put together this layout.

One point of interest is the white pleated circle which was actually a drinking glass cover from that motel. I knew I'd use it somehow. I inked the edges.

Throwback sketch.

My next layout is for the scraproom again and is the throwback sketch.

In my kit was a truly awful paper featuring ladies shopping for clothes with lots of bright colours. I used it as the background on this layout.
Pink wouldn't have been my first choice for this layout, but I'm trying to use some as I have hundreds of sheets. (Does it breed?)
After placing my photos and the sticker for journalling, I added the curled twine and 2 blue flags on toothpicks.
I placed the K.I. in the circle. (Kangaroo Island)
My last addition was 3 tiny Darkroom door pictures with a sea theme.

Saturday 3 April 2021

TSR Colour challenge.and FReaky Fast Friday.

The scraproom group on Facebook has a colour challenge.

I chose a spotted paper from my kit featuring those colours Ruby Rock it Bolt collage ,plus a large card that matches it beautifully Simple Stories Summer Vibes. That takes care of Larchmere.Actually the background paper features most of these colours.

I matted my left hand photo on Parakeet coloured spotted paper. Then I added 3 small squares of patterned paper from Simple Stories Summer Vibes. Next came the cream strip across (Rice paddy) plus a further strip as well as a shorter border strip in impatient pink. This only leaves Ionian which I think I've got in the background spots.

We saw this meerkat at Adelaide zoo and he came right up to the glass window, hence the photo on the right!

                                                                              ********************

I've also done their Freaky fast Friday challenge where the give you the sizes of papers to use.

Using some of  my pink papers in the kit, I ended up with this.

I'm pleased to get some buttons form my stash on there also.

Scrap our stash Remix challenge

At Scrap our stash we are asked to scraplift this layout.

I chose a pale lemon paper from my Counterfeit kit as my background. I used brighter busy prnts for my matting.I added a yellow flower on my left hand photo and layered a yellow daisy sticker,a small punched flower and brad top right.

Next I dribbled red mist over the page (sparingly) then stamped 3 butterflies. I added 2 die cut butterflies and my title.

I'm happy with this one and will keep this designfor future layouts.

Friday 2 April 2021

Challenge YOUrself

My fiest layout this month is for challenge YOUrself.

I've used a floral pink paper despite it being a beach scene and the colours pinks and black to match my outfit in the photo.

My photo was taken at Seal Bay in South Australia, where I was able to walk on the beach with sea lions. There's a couple in the background. I loved every minute of it!

I've also used strips of washi tape,5 buttons (they're all pink despite the fact 2 look red), a sticker strip and chipboard flower plus the alphas.

April counterfeit kit

The Counterfeit kit this month is Garden Party Scrapbook Kit | Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine (scrapbookandcards.com)

Presenting my kit

GARDEN DREAMS

Here's my papers

As you can see, I tried to match both colour and patterns. I didn't have much aqua or plaids, so substited the nearest thing.

And my embellishments

I'm still trying to plough through embroidery cottons, ribbons and buttons, plus added some tiny chipboard floral items my sister gave me.
I added washi tape ,twine and bling and some smaller cut aparts I had.

Alphas will be added as needed, I'll start with those words as I recently returned from a holiday.
