Freshly made sketches/Mojo Monday sketch

Here is the new sketch at Freshly made sketches.

I'm going with the red, white and blue theme on this card.
My background was self made by using up 2 almost completed spray mists. (Gone now!)
As well as blue fingers, I now have this card using 3 different washi tapes plus the sentiment.

************************************************************************************

My next card using the same background is for Mojo Monday

I'm so glad Julie has decided to start this blog up again as I love her sketches.

and here is my interpretation on it.
There's not as much spatter on the background and I used the number 8 instead of a heart. Also shock, horror! I actually stamped my sentiment.

Cardz 4 guyz & city crafter.

At Cardz 4 Guyz   they have asked for something beginning with T.
I had some tickets that I hadn't used so they became my T thing.

I made a card for a grandfather.

********************************************************************************
My next card is for City Crafter where they want a floral background.
I chose a pale pink for this thank you card.

ABC Christmas challenge

It is A for anything goes at ABC CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE

I had the blue ribbon left over from something else, so I decided to build a card around it.

The embossed background card is mounted on vellum, so I left the background plain white.

My second card is for Colour my heart
Here is the colour chart

I've gone right down the centre (Red white and blue).
There's a tiny pop of yellow as I couldn't colour the pineapple anything else.

The scrap room freaky fast formula

I'm using some of my Prima Bella Rose collection on this layout.
I've managed to use 2 sheets the same, but flipped over the second one to reveal various boxes in black, white and Kraft patterns.
The lace border down the left hand side is the 12x2 cut in half then pieced together.

Krafty Chicks & Li'l red wagon

Here's a sketch challenge at Krafty Chicks
I'm celebrating Australia Day today here in Australia so chose red white and blue (with a tiny piece of Kraft) as my colour theme.
I embossed both blue papers in the cuttlebug first.

Still working on Thanks cards.

******************************************************************************

Li'l red wagon has a washi tape challenge.

I've used 2 strips across the bottom of this card, one has the sentiment printed on it .

Daring cardmakers/Cupcake inspirations.

Now for a new week at Daring Cardmakers

The challenge is to use just stamping. I've chosen a large Kaisercraft stamp I own plus Versa colour Opera Pink. (NEW).
I've stamped large flowers across the card. My pink sentiment is on vellum.
It is for a get well card asking the recipient if they are OK.

The mark is on the scanner not the card.
I'm also entering it at Cupcake Inspirations where theme is pink and white

Pile it on plus others.

I've made another card this morning using some left overs from St Tropez kit we had a year or so ago.

The frame saying summer vibes, the pale blue paper in the frame, the crab and the heart are all from St Tropez.
I made this to send to a sick friend with hopes of cheering them up as well.

I'm entering it at Moving along with the times which has a heart theme.
Pile it on where they want land or sea creatures

Double D challenge & Use your stuff

At Double D challenge there is this mood board.
I love vintage so thought I'd give it a go!

"Looking back in time" is the theme.
My background paper features keys and old watches.
The corrugated card and string centrepiece remind me of old fashioned parcels.
The bus ticket is also vintage as are  the typewriter keys that say Love.

****************************************************************

Use your stuff wants numbers
I made a card for a 18 year old boy. I used the colours of red, white and blue...you can't go wrong!

CAS(E) this sketch

Case this sketch has this

I've made another Thank you card.

As you like it and brown sugar.

At As you like it challenge they are asking for buttons and pearls.
I recently bought a few bunny buttons so here is my first Easter card for this year.

Not the usual pale yellows but bright and cheery.
****************************************************************************

Brown sugar challenge has a 1-2-3 challenge.

Use at least three embellishments, i.e., gems, flowers, brads.
Use at least two patterned papers. (Making your own is acceptable.)
Use at least one living thing that flies, such as a bird, super hero, butterfly, angel, etc.

I used 3 bronze coloured pearls.
I used 2 patterned papers one dark, one lighter.
I used an eagle puffy sticker .

Colour my heart Colour dare

Colour my heart has a black, white and a pop of colour challenge.

I've added a splash of red on the 2 foods in the circles. I actually used gel pen which I have had for probably 15 years.

Scap the boys

I've been thinking about this challenge all month.
My photo has a long story.
Last year we went to Hamilton Island at the end of summer.
There are only about 500 people on the island so they don't really need a police force. They have a mini moke, manned by two policemen 2 days per week.
We had been for a swim at the beach area and were sitting at a bus stop waiting for the free island bus to take us back to the motel.
I was joking that next car that comes I would ask for a lift.
Guess who pulled up?

The policeman was only young and probably bored, so we got talking to him.
He said he could give us a lift but one at a time. We laughed and said no thanks.

It was one of the highlights and funny moments of our holiday.

Speaking of cars, I made a card for a few challenges.

Little Red wagon

The theme at Little Red Wagon is TIME.

I've made a retirement card for a man.
The washi tape top and bottom is new. kind of looks like fish scales I thought.
The line across the watch face was on the paper. I guess they were going for the "ancient/old" effect.

The card concept/The Male room

The card concept is having a pink party.

I've created a clean and layered card.
The zippers on the background paper are reminiscent of the candles vertical.
The sentiment in the centre features rosebuds.
The pocket on the front pinks up the pinks. It has clear glitter on it too to add some sparkle.

I'm thinking of it as a birthday card with space to add a gift voucher.

*******************************************************
At The Male room there is an anything goes challenge with an option of beverages.
After searching high and low, I found some left over large tags from Basic Grey, plus a cocktail and showtime from my Las Vegas stickers.
It all blended well to make this card. (Blended=cocktail, get it?)

My sketch world & Mojo Monday

I'm now using up bits and pieces from my January kit as I've used all the patterned papers that were whole.
Here's the sketch for my sketch world on Facebook.
I used some of the bicycle paper and the AC washi tape plus a wood veneer bicycle.

I made this second card for Mojo Monday.
There's a paint chip under all those layers. The layers are all scraps from my January kit.
Obviously it is for a male, maybe a sporty one.

Use your stuff/As you like it

I have just made a sympathy card for an older lady who loved blue.
I used a paper tag that said "As time goes by" plus some rhinestones.
The background was lined but very subdued. The paint chip is grey.
It is for Use your stuff

My second card is foe As you like it challenge where anything goes.

I've used 2 different strips of lime, one patterned, one plain.
My sentiment and cute new bows from AC add some pep to my card.
I opted for clean and simple because the lime is bright.

Sketches in Thyme

Sketches in Thyme has this sketch.

I've been procrastinating on this layout for a few days. It is the last one to go in my New York scrapbook album and I wanted to include as many memories as I could.
I think I have achieved it!
I used the last 3 Jolee stickers from my sheet and included 2 pictures from Darkroom Door that a friend gave to me.
I also used Washi tape that I bought specially for my USA layouts.

My choice of background paper is Bella iWood paper. It reminds me of the old buildings we saw in NYC. An unlikely choice of pink don't you think but it provides a great background for those photos.
The lace edging is DCWV.

I've had a productive morning with 4 cards plus this layout.
Now to seek out some coffee.

Don't forget the black and white challenge at Archiscraps.
http://archiscraps.blogspot.com

Color My Heart challenge and Library challenge.

We are asked to choose at least 3 colours on our card.
This palette matches closely to the Felicity Jane kit so I will be using my Counterfeit Kit.

I started with a pink background (sugar plum)
I discovered I had a pack of small strips which matched fairly closely, So I have used those.
The floral strips feature peacock and eggplant flowers and there is a strip that is all eggplant.
My finishing touch is a grey(silver) number 10.

My next card is for The library challenge
(How typical that I should enter that!) I'm a librarian. :)

We are asked to choose a book from a previous challenge so I chose this one.
I'm also entering this at Li'l red wagon where they want thank you cards.
I've made a card featuring roses to give as a thank you.
It is an unusual colour choice but suits the lady that I'm giving it to.

Challenge #1

Challenge #1 for January is to find/do something new.
I found this craft knife cutting blog which has inspired me.

http://floscrap95.canalblog.com/

She creates wonderful layouts by creating shapes and spaces.
I had 6 photos of squirrels and thought they might work using this technique.
I used this layout as my model.

I chose a dark green bazzil cardstock to resemble the grass.
After carefully placing 6 circles where I wanted them, I cut them out using a craft knife and sanded around the inside edge to smooth it.
My squirrel photos were traced through the circles then cut with a 1cm border to adhere to the back.
I decided to keep my photo of the park in Montreal, whole.

Here it is in partly done stage

Next, I added my title and embellishments.

I've used new 7 gypsies typewriter buttons.

Wednesday 9 January 2019

Challenge YOUrself

http://scrap-challenge-yourself.blogspot.com/ has asked us to use our one word for the year.

I don't have one word but the theme of my whole life seems to be travel and I certainly want to do more of that.

I found this quote

I'm scrapping some photos of Grand Central station in NYC. It fits my theme.
There I am standing between the 2 soldiers. (No'I was not being arrested!)
I've used this sketch loosely which is the jump start sketch at the SCRAPROOM.
I flipped it so the 2 photos are on the top.
That's me with the 2 soldiers.

Try stamping on Tuesday

This is the challenge at Try stamping on Tuesday  with the added idea of bright and bold.
I looked on my desk and found the makings of my card.
Some scrap red card, some blue spotted paper ,a floral strip and a small picture of a vintage lady with the sentiment "Nan". I added a stamped bird on the red area.

Into the Mothers Day cards it goes.

No photo description available.

Scrap room

The Scrap room has a challenge to use all the letters Here's what I did:

N=Net
E=Enamel dots
W=wood texture plus wood veneer bicycle.
Y=yellow
E=embroidery plus eyelet
A=Alphas
R= Ribbon.

I used a paper from crate paper for my background then another Bella striped paper as my mat.
The net is a cheese bag from babybell cheese.

and a close up of my embroidery to resemble the arch shape.

Lasting Memories

#428 - Bling, Buttons, Brads, Sequins or Enamel Dotschoose one or more of the items listed and use on your layout.

Here's a challenge I like the sound of!
It is at Lasting Memories

Also at Paper issues there is a sketch

So I started with a pink Prima paper and two border strips.

Next I mounted my photos, one is on a paint chip. I spread out my 12 brads to accentuate the design.

In case you are wondering that is the UN building on the left and Beehive building on the right.
