A win on A2Z!!!!

This layout is the featured winner on A2Z scraplets.I'm so pleased and proud as I love this photo of Erica and Santa. To everyone Happy New Year and lets hope 2013 brings us all our hearts desire.

CSI # 52

Here's my entry for this week's CSI challenge.
My daughter made a black wreath for her front door from fuzzy wool wound around a coathanger. Her Dad was helping her hang it  and the colours were ideal for the challenge.
The colours were red, black, white, fawn and grey. I started by using a prima Kraft page and covering it in white gesso through a chicken wire mask. While the gesso was still wet I threaded twine around it.

Next I found a black doiley bought at TYPO  and used the corrugated packet cut to match the shape of the door trim.I inked this with black soot distress ink.On the corner I placed a black heart shaped paper clip and under the corrugated card I added a grey lace scrap. The tag documents the gift of creativity my daughter has and encourages her to keep using it.I wrote the title myself. I've added numbers to the 2 photos as well.

Sketches with a twist

I'm just rushing in with this entry for Sketches with a twist. The twist was glitter....I'll admit I hate using it. But I persevered and stuck a chipboard heart with mod-podge, then silver glitter on my layout.
These are more old photos from Dad's slides, taken of the lions and polar bear (no longer have one) at Taronga Zoo. Another happy memory from my childhood.

A CSI achievement and Christmas

I have just been trawling through blogs on my dashboard and discovered this
for my layout about the Opera House being built.

Strangely enough there was a program on TV last night about the Opera house building and how that giant crane broke and crashed ,luckily killing nobody. It actually made me think about this layout.
I guess being "On the watch list" means a highly commended or something.I was just glad to fit all 4 photos on the page.

Secondly I trust that everybody had a Happy Christmas with their families.I journeyed to Canberra to stay with my daughter for a few days.We went out for lunch, which was less stressful and quite yummy. Here we are at lunch with my ex hubby(her father obviously).
And here's my daughter's new toy!
Well that's all from me for today. Have a Happy New Year and be kind to each other.

Child's play DT call

Here is the stimulus picture for the DT call at Child's play http://childsplaychallenges.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/time-for-dt-call.html
I've completed this layout to apply for their DT.

Firstly I took clear vellum and coloured the back of it using watercolour coloured pencils in a rainbow.I then adhered that to white cardstock.
Next I painted negative letters from Making memories chipboard alphabet and added braid to match.
The photo is mounted on pale green vellum. Then I typed possible career choices on different coloured cardstock and placed them on a diagonal to echo the rainbow vellum. The title is rub-ons and here is a close up of the journalling. It is a quote that I found online.
And here is the layout. The photo was taken when my daughter was trying to decide what career to choose.

Another freakin' scrapping challenge

The sketch on another freakin' scrapping challenge was this one

And as you can see from my layout above I've gone with something completely different.

I had the very busy Basic Grey Archaic range that I wanted to use up.Flowers and flourishes didn't suit it! I started by putting word around the layout relating to rocks since this is a photo from Stonehenge.
I then added co-ordinating paper tabs and words in a cluster about the photo.I couldn't resist the recollections owl surveying the scene from above. My final touch is some chipboard swords which were aged using rusting powder to hark back to times gone by.
When we were walking around Stonehenge we noticed this man shape in one of the rocks.
Here's a close up.

Frosted Designs Day 12

It has been a marathon, but I have managed to do all 12 layouts for Frosted Design's 12 Days of Christmas.
This is the last layout which had to include 12 brads...it does.
I started by putting old alphas on to the LHS of the page then painting over it with gesso. It sort of resembles snow.I tore the red backing paper's edge to also give a frosted edge. The 2 photos are from a "Christmas in July" weekend we went to at Bundanoon. As they brought in dessert(Christmas Pudding),it was preceeded by a bagpiper.Hence the title. There are 12 brads in the corners of the pictures, tag and title card.

Day 11 at Frosted Designs

Yesterday the 3 great-nephews and neice came over with their dad, for early Christmas gift giving.
I was in the middle of making White Christmas so had 3 helpers or should I say tasters.

I took a photo of the mixture in the bowl.I've used 3 different coloured cherries which are reflected in my layout on the banner. There are 10 stars and a central balloon. This completes my quota of 11.
I've used Cosmo Cricket lettering named "Ready set chip-Red Robin".I've also had fun on this layout with star brads and twine.
For those from other countries White Christmas is made using Rice Bubbles breakfast cereal, copha, powdered milk, coconut, icing sugar and glace cherries and sultanas.

Frosted Designs Day 10

This card's base is a frame from Kaisercraft's sweet magnolia.I jazzed it up for Christmas by putting a strip of Washi tape across it then mounting a sleigh button(with shank cut off) on Magic mount.I've also added 2 angels to balance the picture at the lower corner.
I love the sentiment on this and as I think about my friends it is those times when they do or say something small that helps. This brings me to the other 9 buttons, one of which is a heart for love and a spiral for the fun times.
This is being given to my best friend,Ann who has been there for over 40 years for me.
P.S. My scanner added an extra stripe which isn't there!

Washi tape tree card Day 6 Frosted designs

Day 6 on Frosted designs was to make an item using 6 strips of washi tape. I've made a Christmas tree by repeating 2 different types of tape,3 times then topping with a punched star and using the date as the stem.It is done on white background and is a card.

Frosted Designs Day 3

Day 3 of the 12 days of Christmas challenge was to use 3 mists or inks or paints.
I've chosen 3 mists in colours of red, blue and sugar maple.I misted through a scrapmatts negative of daisies and picked up the daisy theme with a stamp on the chipboard frame as well as rub on strip at the bottom.
This photo was from an old postcard on Graphics fairy which I printed using a sepia tinge.
The rub-ons are Kaisercraft "Le Chateau" collection. The background paper is from the same collection.
I've added washi tape of old cameras to hark back to olden days.

Frosted designs 12 days of Christmas -Day 1 & Day 2

The first challenge on Frosted design's 12 days of Christmas was to use a bird.
Today I've made a gift tag measuring 7cm x 8cm featuring a Websters pages bird and sentiment. It also has a slide mount as part of its construction.
And for Day 2, I've made a normal size card using Annabelle stamp-Some odd girls clear stamp.I've used black ink to stamp her on to the tag then coloured her in with coloured pencils.Under the tag there is a tiny holly branch stamped in gold.I've added 2 different ribbons as well plus a metallic brad.

Woo hoo,20000 page views!!!!

Thank you ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ to all the people who are following my blog and viewing those pages!!!!!!!!

My style is not cluttered and I often focus on the photo rather than heaps of products stuck on my pages and cards.

I have been enjoying scrapbooking for over 11 years now and I'm sure I have close to 3,000 layouts.I just counted up 33 albums.

That isn't counting about 20 mini albums and other canvasses and OTP things I've made.
I've also made many valuable friends both IRL and Cyber friends through scrapbooking.

I've been lucky enough to be published

DT call at Feeling Sketchy.

The blog named feeling sketchy is having a DT call so I've decided to enter,or throw my hat in the ring,so to speak. Here's my layout
It is another one of Christopher eating a donut.
Instead of patterned paper I went for using ribbon as my background on top of the Rebekkah Ericson paper named "Adore", which as 4 different pastel colours. The zig zag circle paper reflects these same colours and also matches the turquoise ric rac.I've been pleased to use up some MM rub-ons I must have had for about 10 years(and they still work!).
I've added a slide mount covered with pp. on the LOVE ribbon.I've finished it off with a "Flourish with a bling" in pewter to match the chocolate donut.LOL
Here's the sketch it is based on.

Monday 17 December 2012

Frosted Designs day 8.

The challenge for day 8 was to use 8 different brands of product on a Christmas item.I've chosen a card as I have lots of little things on here.

1.Background paper was a pad I bought at BIG W-DCMV I think,
2.Glimmer Mist is by Tattered Angels -Candy Apple
3.Outline for trees is a chipboard from Scrapmatts
4.Green rhinestones on trees are from Lincraft Christina Re
5.fawn/red patterned paper strip Kaisercraft
6.Red/white dotted ribbon October
7.Gold star brad by Renoir
8.Kraft cardstock is by American Crafts

Whew! That was certainly a challenge
I have also recycled some elements on here from a layout I've pulled apart so that gave me the extra challenge

Stuck sketches Dec part 2

Here is the sketch for part 2 of December at Stuck?! sketches. And here's my interpretation of it.
I've achieved a few things never tried before on here, using pink on a boy's layout, using rub ons right on the photo and incorporation of the tear of strip on the Kaisercraft paper on to the actual layout.I've also tried out a new mask featuring cogs behind my title.
It makes me laugh when kids see something simple like a pink donut and relate it to something else.In this case it was Homer Simpson.

Frosted designs Day 9

For anybody following this I'm sorry these Frosted design challenges numbers are out of order.
I'm creating as I find appropriate photos etc.
Day 9 of 12 days of Christmas requires 9 pieces of bling/sparkles on your layout. IN my case there are rhinestones counting up to 9.There are 3 next to the music and 6 in the scrolls on the right.

4th days of Christmas at Frosted designs

I've used 4 different patterned papers on this layout. There's the background, the snowman picture in the centre, the music and the branch patterned paper above the doiley in the picture.I've also hand made the flower from christmas fabric with a crochet centre and button.

Day 7 at Frosted Designs 12 days of Christmas

I might be being cheeky here but this challenge called for 7 snowflakes.I've made 2 cards with 3 each chipboard snowflakes decorated with liquid pearls. That makes 6! Then there is the word "snowflakes" on the top card. This makes 7 snowflakes.
Hope it counts!!!!

Frosted designs 12 days of Christmas

One of the challenges at Frosted designs for December was 5 gold things on a page.In this layout I've wound ribbon around 5 circles of varying sizes to create an interesting border around the photo.I've attached a bow to tie 2 of the circles together for a bit of Christmas colour.

Flutterby Wednesday Card challenge

I was recently given some Christmas money for scrapbooking purchases.
I couldn't resist a 6.5x6.5 pad of papers named "Sweet nothings" from Kaisercraft(among other things). This background paper was one of the stack.
On Flutterby Wednesday #218 , this month we are asked to make a card including either a fairy or a butterfly.I have had this vellum fairy for quite a few years and she goes perfectly with the paper.I have torn around the edges for a softer look.I've added delicate eyelet lace and baby pink nylon ribbon and used an Annabelle stamp for my sentiment.

Scrap the girls and Bah humbug

My dd sees the funny side in most things and bought this black Santa hat which says" Bah Humbug".At gift giving time she appeared wearing it to make us all laugh.
Scrap the girls challenge this month was to use lists.I've included a list of her personality traits on the journalling block at the bottom right of the page.

Friday 14 December 2012

Mojo Monday #271

Here is my entry for Mojo Monday #271.

I started by misting the background using a chevron mask and "sugar maple".Then I used a strip of patterned paper. The scalloped journalling piece was free in a magazine, but light misting brought it to the co-ordinating colour.Over that I've pasted matching pink card with a ribbon bow and a strip from Websters pages with a matching sentiment. The final touch was a scrapbooking'n'craft butterfly inked with pinecone.
Again my scanner has not reproduced the baby pink colour correctly. It is the same pink as the daisy near the bottom.

Case this sketch #9

Here's a Christmas card using non-Christmas colours that I made for Case this sketch.
I've used Gingerbread man paper with black chevron washi tape and Gold painted Buzz and bloom stars.I've put a sentiment on that says live, laugh, love which would suit any occasion.
and here's the original sketch

Antiques grab at Artastic

A couple of years ago my daughter and I went to Bungendore for the day.We explored the antique stores and market. These 2 photos record some of the items we saw.The background paper is based on a tile and has quite a large pattern on it.
I've added antique laces,ricrac,3 chipboard items and old advertisements of the time. Hope you like it!

Not a creature was stirring at white with one.

When I looked at the criteria for white with one I immediately thought of these mice in booties I made from felt several years ago. We put them on our Christmas tree year after year.I occasionally give one away then make another to replace it.
In my chipboard I found this Twiddlybits cat which added some colour to the page.I've given him rhinestone eyes and as well as painting red added a pearl mist over the top to make him glittery.
I've also had these flowers made for quite a while so countered the cat in the opposite corner with a cluster of flowers and leaves.
Finally I stitched part of my title "Not a" and used Cosmo Cricket chipboard letters.

2 days to upload for Archiscraps

Just a little reminder,if you have a fence or gate layout to upload it to Archiscraps before 15th December at Midnight EDST to be in the running to win this prize.
Winners will be announced on 16th and parcel posted on 17th,so you should have these before Christmas. Why not give it a go!
I don't mind a layout you've used for something else. here's the link http://archiscraps.blogspot.com.au/

Orange Paperie Christmas challenge

Here is the December sketch for Orange Paperie where the other criteria was Christnmas using non-Christmas colours and embellies.
I've chosen autumn colours for my layout. It started with the background paper-Canary Damask by little Yellow Bicycle,
To that I've added a strip of yellow paper with a rub-on.This meant yellow and black,so the third colour became orange.I've used crochet flowers and a vine bought from Becci Sunberg recently which were placed on to the strips of pp next to the photo and a single grey flower, top left for balance.
The 2 vines have been painted with yellow to resemble the leaves on Christmas bush.I chose not to put a third one there as it looked too cluttered. Finally I added a Francheville square brad on my journalling card.
Christmas bush always blooms right on Christmas and so adds a touch of the Australian bush to Christmas.

4 generations at another Freaking Scrappy Challenge

These photos were taken at my 50th Birthday party. They feature Mum,me,my daughter and my great nephew. That is 4 generations of our family.
The right hand side of this layout is a giant shaker box containing all the "50" sprinkles we had on the tables. The layout is called "50",what else.

Together at Stuck ?! sketches

My layout for Stuck?! sketches this month features Kaisercraft Grandiose and Shaken not stirred ranges.
I've used Grandiose papers for my mats, with a bit of Kraft card as well. Then added rub ons as per the sketch.I've finished it with ribbons and a chipboard title by A2Z scraplets which I inked lightly in black.
My photo was taken about 1970 when Mum and I visited channel 10 studios to watch a show being made.I can't recall what it was.

Feeling Sketchy

The card design this week on Feeling Sketchy is this
and here's my interpretation...a wedding card.
I've lightly inked the strips of paper in black and mounted the embossed stamp(silver) on a hand cut flower.I don't own punches that size.
Again the background cardstock is baby pink not white,in fact it is the same colour as in the patterned paper. My scanner has started Christmas celebrations I think.

Friday 7 December 2012

Kraft it up December

For Kraft it up this month we are asked to say what we want for Christmas.
Unfortunately with Mum dying earlier this year, I can't have what I want---an old fashioned family Christmas with my parents.
However, being an optimist,I'm not dwelling on the negatives, so I wrote a recipe for my perfect Christmas.
The words are the important part of this layout.
"Lots of happy wishes
hugs and kisses
Joy on Children's faces
Time spent together
Relaxation
Happy memories
Good food and drink
Mix all well and enjoy!"

I've also included a saying from Helen Steiner Rice and a gift card.
I've misted around a Christmas tree template twice and used pp,washi tape, brads and alphas to complete this layout.

Case this sketch #8

8 is my lucky number so fingers crossed it works with this.
Case this sketch challenge #8 is this one and my interpretation is the following sympathy card for my mother's cousin
It features Magnolia grove rub-on which I split into two and used either side of the card. The sentiment says memories, appropriate for a sympathy card I thought. I hope you like it.
