Over at http://creativecardcrew.blogspot.com.au/ the current challenge is birthday with sentiment.
I've gone with a blue butterfly theme.
The tiny lace doiley was given to me by a friend for crafting with, so I am returning it to her on a pretty card.

Challenge #3 Headings & Counterfeit Kit blog hop.
The challenges this month are:
I decided to use some embroidery cotton as my heading for this layout.
Here's how I went about getting it ready for sewing.
Step 1 : Type your title and choose your font on the computer.
step 2: Print off a sample.
If it is too small try a bigger size.
I decided that 72 was the correct size for my layout.
Place it over your patterned paper to compare.
Step 3: Employ a technique I learnt back in the Dark Ages at school.
Colour over the printing on the reverse side with a soft pencil.
Step 4: Using the same pencil, trace over the printed letters on the right side onto your patterned paper. It should leave a pencil outline for you to sew on to.
Step 5: Sew your heading. I used stem stitch.
Next, I used paint to create a coloured background for my hessian.
I cut small rectangles of hessian and lightly painted them using left over paint.
I stitched them under the picture with grey buttons and matching thread.
My other embellishments were added.
The large wooden butterfly has faux stitching using gel pen.
I added matching MME gel dots, journaling card and words.
Here's the order for the Blog Hop

Creative Card crew
I love this time of each month when I get to use up the dregs of my Counterfeit Kit.
I had the October Afternoon Farmhouse alphas partly unused so have made a retro greeting card.
This one is for http://creativecardcrew.blogspot.com.au/
I love the way this turned out, I had visualised but wasn't sure it would work.

Cardz4guyz
Over at Cardz4guyz the theme is oriental.
I've made 2 cards, both are probably Bon Voyage cards although I guess they can be used for birthdays too.
On the left hand one I used some oriental papers I had plus a picture of a Japanese lady.
The right hand one features a map of China from an old atlas plus a Happy Scatter die cut from Jennifer Grace.

Feeling Sketchy
This is the latest sketch at Feeling Sketchy.
I had some fun with this and used both sides of a Cosmo Cricket paper named Drivers Ed. It reminded me of roads.
I also had some rub ons left from my Counterfeit kit featuring transport.
It will be a card for a boy aged 6, my friend's nephew.

Freshly Made sketches.
This is the sketch at Freshly made sketches.
I'm sitting here making cards & using up a set of alphas, in this case, gold ones.
I've used this sketch to make a small silver and gold Christmas card.
I've used washi tape as the strips across and a pre-cut star with rhinestone.
Circles at Use your stuff
Over at Use your stuff there is a circle challenge.
In my stash there were a couple of mini Cds.
I covered one in paper featuring a circle pattern.
There was also a fancy eyelet with adoring words such as darling, sweetheart etc and it was pink.
I've used both on this card which has a soft baby paper as its background.

Case this sketch.
My Counterfeit Kit is almost all used up but I still have the old atlas.
I used a map from it as my background. The base card is sky blue.
Over that I've used a strip of Suede paper with cork lettering for my sentiment.
My final trims were 2 chipboard flags, that I misted and stamped with clocks.
A nice masculine card.
Mojo Monday and Seize the Birthday
The latest sketch from Mojo Monday inspired me to make this card
http://mojomonday.blogspot.com.au/And at Seize the Birthday the challenge is to use hearts or arrows.
As I had a few items left from Valentine's Day cards I made this card.
For a change, I used my best printing to hand write the sentiment.

Stuck on U sketches
This is the sketch for February at Stuck on U sketches.
I had just the photo for this which I put aside at Christmas time to scrap.
My daughter was wearing a dress that perfectly matched my coffee mugs.
The cherry and strawberry are from October afternoon Farmhouse range.
Most of the rest, including the cotton doiley were scraps.

Our Beautiful world
The word this week is through a window.
While we were in Vancouver we visited the public library. It is shaped like the Colosseum. This is a view through the roof to another building outside.

Picture this Verticals
The challenge at Picture this is 3 photos plus vertical placement.
Here's the link http://picturethischallenges.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/picture-this-feb-15-vertical-placement.html
I must admit when I put this Crate paper Seasons paper in my Counterfeit Kit I was a little frightened of it. It is so bright.
I placed 2 lots of vellum over it plus a gold doiley. That softened it.
To increase the vertical I've put a strip of washi tape down the edge of the vellum.....it is straight, from here the whole layout looks crooked...it isn't.
I added my 3 photos,2 skeleton leaves, title, a large brad and my journaling card which my daughter can write on later.

Lessology- Time after time
Over at Lessology the challenge is named Tick tock.
We are asked to feature clocks.
I've decided to cover a notebook I bought somewhere really cheaply, like $2.
Original cover....
New covers......... I left the back plain as it is hard to write on lumpy bumpy.
With a close up of the front cover featuring clocks and "Time after time".
The chipboard pennant has been misted with Tattered Angels "True Turquoise", then stamped using a clock face stamp I have owned since starting teaching in 1976.(Repurposed)
The lace doiley is an old one I cut in half.(recycled)
The 2 safety pins have been used several times during my life.(recycled)
The number 8 metal charm fell of another project, so I re-used it here.(recycled)
The punched flower is from another project (left over)
The angel pendant is new and adds a nice vintage touch.
The background paper & 2 crafty chipboard are from my counterfeit kit

Color throwdown plus Colour and sketches.
Here is the colors for Color throwdown.
At first I found it difficult, then found some patterned paper which would do the trick.
My background is silver.
This is the shape from http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2015/02/challenge-111-sketch.html
so I will enter it on there as well.
Jingle Belles Rock & washi
Over at Jingle Belles Rock we are asked to use Washi tape on our Christmas card.
I have 2 silver cards left. It made a great background for my "Merry Christmas" panel of washi tape with the featured nutcracker and 2 snowflakes.

I started joining in at Our Beautiful world then became side tracked well and truly.
This week's word is colourful and here is my picture
I don't remember where I copied this from but look at all the colours in it!

Frosted designs and a Mystical challenge.
I've used items from my Counterfeit Kit on this.
At Frosted Designs we are asked to use 2 "messy " items on your work.
Firstly was the stamping of stars around the shaker box frame.
Secondly was making the shaker box itself as it involved glitter.(one of my pet hates).
I cut out the foam core board then adhered the transparency.
After turning it over, I filled it with blue sequins and pink glitter.
Getting the back on without being covered in glitter is a messy business.
If you look deep into the photo you will see blue and pink lights....my inspiration.
The building on the left is Tiffanys in New York. My daughter was excited to see it!
The giant snowflake hanging on the street inspired the stars.
This is also entered in Mystical scrapbooking's cybercrop where we are required to use ink 3 different ways....stars,shading around photo mat & journaling.

Tuesday Taggers photo
And here's another "LOVE" card, this time for Tuesday Taggers
http://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/add-photo-at-tiots.html
They are asking us to add a photo.
I had the card saying love, I added the old music paper, the brad and the downloadable photo of the couple at the piano.
A musical couple I know are celebrating their birthdays tomorrow. This will be perfect for them.

Case this sketch #110
I'm in the mood for love.............or making cards for Valentines Day anyway.
At http://casethissketch.blogspot.com.au/ here is the sketch
I've flipped it so that the design is on the right.
The hearts are punched randomly and I placed my sentiment in the largest.

A textural layered layout.
This layout features textures and depth.
I started with the corrugated card then layered the floral and invoice papers.
I inked around the edges of the invoice card in gold.
After adding my photo it was then mounted on the background.
Under there, I've stitched some hessian in yellow and added a strip of wide ribbon which was also inked in gold.
Down the right hand side I used a pink paislee circle piece with fibre and ribbon threaded through.
My final adornments were a strip of gold sequins, a gold flower and 3 gold buttons.

Challenge #2 Use a date stamp
I must be an unusual scrapper.
I don't own a date stamp!
Even in my former life as a teacher librarian I never used a date stamp.
They were out of fashion and book due slips were printed by the computer.
When given this challenge I started to hunt.
None of my scrapping friends had date stamps I could borrow.
Luckily, the local library is walking distance away......I bought a culled library book for 20 cents with a date due slip full of dates inside.
On this layout I wanted to use slide mounts to echo the square windows of the skyscraper.
I covered them with the date due slip paper! Voila!!!!
The arrow paper, the mesh, the slide windows and the layering of papers are all designed to emphasise height.

Sketches in Thyme.
Here is Sketches in Thyme's sketch.
A 3 photo sketch suited my daughter's photos of famous paintings from MOMA in New York.
I started with a pretty vellum from my Counterfeit Kit.
The colours matched the art. I mounted it on white card.
I found some scraps of cut out tan paper, which I used as the background interest.
I've hand stitched the top left corner using a cross hatching in various sizes. (Can't be too even).
Next I've added 3 corner flourishes stickers, over the top of 3 cream skeleton leaves.
I've added 3 flairs randomly.
This carefully avoided a flowery layout.
My title runs down the RHS.

Here's my layout featuring my grandmother
Challenge #1 at Counterfeit Kit challenge.
I've had this Pink Paislee "Pop Fashion" transparency for years.
After googling it, I could find nobody who had used it on a layout yet.
So I am to be a pioneer again.
Counterfeit Kit challenges has Challenge #1: Use something sheer or clear on your project!
I mounted the one photo on white cardstock, then used the DETAILS card, plus a downloaded printable ticket to fill the other 2 windows.
On the details card I used rubons for stop and exit.
The strips of ribbon at top and writing at bottom help to cover where I adhered the transparency.
The title, wood veneer camera, flair botton are all on top of the transparency.
I used a pink dot in the camera to link it back to the scroll flourishes on the transparency.

Let's capture our Memories card #109
The sketch for a card at Let's capture our memories #109 looks like this
I'm busy making Valentines cards to sell for charity so here's my take on this sketch.
Aren't those tiny chipboard butterflies adorable?
(The dirty mark is on the scanner not the card.)

Valentine at Avenue613
Over at http://avenue613.blogspot.se/ the theme is anything goes with the option of doodling.
I chose not to do any doodling. My card is a Valentine's day card in non traditional colours.
(Perhaps for a man)
I've used a chipboard heart covered with those end strips from patterned papers.
The background paper is October Afternoon and the sentiment is printed on a plastic bead.

The 123 challenge for February
Here is the 3 criteria for February.
I hate glitter with a passion, but used a whole tube covering the chipboard on this layout.
We hope that you can join in the fun.

Unstampabelles again
I've made a second card for Unstampabelles and hope it is ok to enter twice.
I used another atlas page which I misted, then fussy cut out 2 galahs.
My sentiment says Hello from Oz.
A friend in Singapore is having a birthday soon so I will use this one for that.
