Sketches in Thyme #350

This is another sketch at Sketches in Thyme. #350

I've chosen greens because they go with the photos plus it is my favourite colour!
After cutting out my smaller square I drizzled blue mist (which didn't show up well) then used white acrylic paint through a mask in a haphazard fashion to create a background.

I mounted my photos on vellum left over from this month's counterfeit kit.
This is 2 photos of the castle built by George C. Boldt. Here is more information

https://www.1000islandstourism.com/experiences/gananoque-boat-line/

We did a cruise around the islands for over 2 hours which was a lovely way to see them.
I added a tag for journaling but otherwise left it plain.

4 crafty chicks

At 4 crafty chicks is a free week or anything goes.

I've finished my Christmas cards this year so made a valentines card yesterday.
I had the left over alphas to say HUG (we all need those occasionally).
I made the tiny library pocket to pop a secret message inside and layered lace and the other sentiment.

Let's scrap

Here's the mid month sketch at Let's scrap.
I've chosen to do the left hand page. I started with a shaped page from Bo Bunny and a neutral blue and yellow striped paper. My 4 file folders are made from co-ordinating scrap papers.

After matting my 3 photos of Ottowa's parliament building, I used a sticker border strip down the left hand side.
It was finished building in 1876 and we literally passed it in the coach without stopping.
In 1916 it partly burned down and had to be rebuilt and in 2014 there was a shooting attack.

To the file folders I added hand made tabs plus a red maple leaf and mounties uniform I bought in Canada. My flair button says "This and That". The hidden journaling is in the second file folder.

Mystical Cyber crop challenge #3

Here's the inspiration board for this challenge.

The same Prima paper "Rossi Belle", I used on the last 2 layouts has this on the other side.
There are postcards and olde worlde flowers etc.

I've used airmail envelopes, twine, kraft paper bag, tag, dymo label, handwriting, layering,
wood veneer birds and camera.
Inside the small kraft bag is our original hotel pass for the hotel.

Let's get sketchy.

Its nearly the end of the month and I'm still finding challenges I meant to do.
Let's get sketchy is one I looked at earlier in the month then decided to come back to it.

Once again I used a Prima page from the Bella Rosa collection.
I started by using white paint through a dotty mask as my background. In this case it almost looks like snow with those animals! In reality, it was summer.

I used red as one of my matting colours since we were in Canada. We had a stopover in Vancouver which was basically overnight until lunch time the following day.
The middle photo is at our hotel and the deer is concrete. Then we arrived at the airport and found 2 more animals, hence the photos which were taken on my phone, so not as clear.
The red maple leaf and moose were specialty scrapbooking items from Canada.

Time flies and Paper players.

It's pouring rain here so it is difficult to go outside. I'm scrapping to pass the time.

This layout has been done just for fun but also to put in my New York album.

I started with a Prima paper background and added white paint through a Prima mask.
I added a strip of grey patterned paper across the middle with lace across the bottom.
This gave me the idea of layering more laces, including the roses scraps.
As well as my photo of Brooklyn Bridge, I used teased gauze

,a FWAB in bronze, a flair button, a small tag and transparency saying time flies.
Note also the New York minute sticker signifying it was over in an instant.

The 2 smaller photos are Darkroom Door filmstrip.

Hope you like it!

At The Paper players there is this sketch.
My Christmas cards are done so I'm now making Thank You cards.

I've used pinks on this one.

2 sisters on the blog and CAS on Sunday.

http://2sistersontheblog.blogspot.com/ is a new blog for me that looks like it is from Holland.

Their challenge is to use pictures of Christmas cookies on your card.

I have used 2 felt Gingerbread men on this card.

At Jingle belles they want any Christmas food.
At CAS on Sunday they have asked us to use washi tape.
I've used 5 strips across the middle and one lower.
My cardboard stocks are low so I'm forced to use yellow as my background on Christmas cards, but I think this works.
Another gingerbread man on here.

Shock of shocks! I stamped!!!
Recently I bought a bakers stamp at the supermarket. It says "Hi there".

Cardz 4 guyz

The theme at Cardz4guyz is Christmas Critters.

I found this reindeer wearing Christmas cdecorations on an old Christmas card and thought he was worth another look.
I've made a card for a teenage boy who is inclined to be cynical, so thought he might enjoy this.
I've used brown thickers for my sentiment.

Fusion card challenge

Here is the latest challenge at Fusion card challenges.
fusion card challenge
I've combined the sketch and the picture and made this card. The background stripes are inspired by the seat on the chair. The sentiments are from the sketch and the holly is hanging on the red cushion.
I couldn't resist the red polkadot strip ,it provides contrast for the plain red circle.

At Scrapping4fun challenges the theme is winter.
I made a small card featuring snowflakes in blue and maroon.

CKC Killing the kit.

Each month we feature an article on the CKC blog about killing the kits.

On this layout I have used several cut off strips from the bottom of papers, a blue frame that I had, a paper I thought I would never use ,but the colours were perfect. There is also a Christmas paper!

It was when we were walking through Rockefeller centre in New York and noticed Tiffany.
"Take my photo" I asked Barbara. I was even wearing my blingy kaftan top.
Of course there had to be bling on this! I used a whole FWAB flourish which came with extra gems. Those, I spread around the frame.

Challenge #2 CKC.

Lisa asked us to put a twist on the sketch.
I'm using non-kit papers as I have finished my Counterfeit kit for this month. (That's my twist!)

The title and laugh tags, plus the banner and transparency and cotton for sewing are all from my Counterfeit kit.

This layout is based on this sketch
http://citrustwistkits.blogspot.com/2018/04/sunday-sketch-with-kira_22.html

Less is more challenge & Crazy4challenges

At Less is more challenge they want metallic.

I found a Christmas paper which had silver gifts on the bottom. After using it as my background I added silver washi tape and a gold die cut Christmas tree.
I embossed Merry Christmas on some gold cardstock.

**********************************************************************************
At Crazy4Challenges there is a sketch

And here's mine. It is for a little girl and is a little card measuring 11cm x 8cm.

Challenge Yourself

Challenge Yourself has this

I'm scrapping a memorable moment from our New York trip. We went to see a Broadway show, Carousel. It has long been a favourite of mine and the show did not disappoint!

I used a Prima paper from the Rossi Belle collection which looks like  old photo album corners.
Anyway, it is neutral so that helps.
I gathered lots of butterflies I had including stickers and fussy cut ones. There were also some rhinestone butterflies. My buttons are from my stash.
I included wood veneers as it adds dimension, the musical notes relate to the theme of the layout,as does the ticket. In between I put journaling words.
I'm in the photo on the left hand side.

This was the main Broadway show that we saw and was wonderful!

Scrap our stash

November 2018 Blend A Sketch Challenge

At Scrap our stash here is the challenge.

I've used up all my November Counterfeit kit .

I've chosen colours to suit my 2 photos.
My background paper is Prima Morning song collection "Sunday paper".

I wanted to keep to the red, white and blue idea ,so that our pass from the tour would stand out and become my title.

I've used the idea of the wide mat, scalloped strip, doiley from the left hand side.
I used the layering,tags,2 photo placement from the right hand side.
I have added 2 banners.
They are square pennants with stars to represent the stars who performed there.

My journaling sums up our tour.

Here's my layout

Christmas card throwdown

At Christmas card throwdown they had a colour challenge ,which was blue pink and green.

I have a Christmas paper here featuring gingerbread men on a background of those 3 colours. I then trimmed it with ricrac and added my sentiment.

Paper Minutes/colour throwdown

Paper minutes wants an exotic animal.

I have a penguin on my card, which is of course for Christmas.

I'm thinking this one might be for a child.

**********************************************************************************

Colour throwdown   has red, silver and aqua

I've chosen a blue paper that is almost aqua and a red star with silver sequins.
I trust the white border strip is acceptable.

Sketch Saturday

Here's the latest sketch at Sketch Saturday.

I'm still on the Christmas cards so here's my take on it.

Paper players.

The paper players have a colour challenge.

I started with a saffron coloured cardstock.
Next, I layered rectangles of patterned paper across my card.
I finished with a star and brad.

I'm also entering at Use your stuff where they want stars

This could be a Christmas or birthday card.

Die cutting divas plus the scraproom

Die cutting divas has a birthday Challenge.

I'm using a rainbow die cut from my Counterfeit kit, along with a 6x6 paper I had in it.

I'm short of cardstock until I go shopping so the card is black, with a white inset to write on obviously.

Next, I have made a layout about the NY subway for the Scraproom

I used a very old paper by All my memories, named Herbanella.
The grey/orange tones went with my papers.
The strip of paper saying educate is so old I don't even know where it came from.
Barbara carried a map of New York with her and we spent some time trying to figure out which way we were going, hence the compass points photo.
The NY embellishments were bought when we were there.
The metro card is our train ticket.

It is based on this sketch.

Tuesday taggers & crafters cafe.

At Tuesday taggers they want thank you cards.

Earlier this year someone stole a box of my thank you cards from a school where I had left them.
This meant I had to start all over again.
With that it mind, I bought some washi tape saying Thank You to use on cards.
This is my first one.

At Crafty Café they want Male young or old.

I've used a small piece of vellum on orange cardstock plus a big smiley face on my card.
It is for a boy aged 3.
The sentiment says cute boy.

Just us girls.

https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/stamping_with_bleach/
Follow this link to discover how to stamp with bleach. I'd never heard of it before.

At Just us girls they have a stamping challenge using bleach. I thought I'd try it.
I tried on black paper, but it didn't show up very well.
Next, I tried lime green and was more successful.
I've used the bleached stamped panel in the centre of my card.

challenge #1 CKC.

Challenge # 1 - Sprinkle and Sparkle!

November is my birthday month and there's always a sprinkle of shimmer, confetti, sequins or glitter to be seen. Make sure you make your own project shines this celebratory month by adding some extra sparkle!

To get me started I'm using this Throwback sketch from the scraproom.
The criteria is to use something older than 12 months from your stash....vellum.

Image may contain: text

I started with 2 yellow floral papers that were in my kit.
Over those I overlayed green vellum and music script paper.(Both older than 12 months)

I've used a whiskey coloured FWAB flourish instead of the butterflies.
