Cost nothing card.

Here's a card that cost me nothing.

A friend gave me some yellow cardstock to make cards. I used book paper as my background inked with "old paper" distress ink. Next I punched 2 flowers from a vellum wrapper that came around some wedding stationery. I cut the 2 leaves from a scrap of cardboard and drew the stems.

I'll probably use this as a thank you card for someone.

Can you handle the pressure and Make my Monday.

I have found a new card site Can you handle the pressure?  It involves using embossing folders.

I had 2 different pieces of embossed card on my desk so used Swiss dots to make this card for a grandma.

Also I used more of that gold Chinese paper as my background and 2 gold flowers from my Counterfeit kit.

My next card used some of the fussy cut flowers and a butterfly from my May Counterfeit kit. I also added a strip of thin washi tape along the bottom.

It is for Make my Monday challenge blog. The theme there is Springtime. (It is late Autumn here in Australia).

A friend has just retired from teaching after 40 years. She's earned a card.

White with One and Sketch 'n' scrap

I combined 2 challenges here White with One and Sketch 'n' scrap. Both found on Facebook.

The blueberries reminded me I had spotted washi tape in my kit and the background blue paper so I started there. Using the sketch, I also found floral strip from a cut off piece and another lighter spotted blue strip. I added ric-rac just for fun.

I had nothing blue in the way of embellishments that would match this so I punched 2 navy flowers and used blue brads. My journal card was also in my kit.The large alphas were sitting on my desk and I found the white ones in my left over alpha sets.

Here it is!

That is my last layout for this kit. The scraps will be used on cards.

Cut it up challenges

This card is for Cut it up challenges.

We are asked to include a die cut and in my case it is the butterfly. The challenge is any animal or insect and my butterfly definitely qualifies.

I have several sheets of this cream and gold patterned paper so might make a few more of these cards.
The sentiment on here is also gold, it appears to be black.

Scrap the girls

Here is the colour challenge at Scrap the girls.

I caught up with my daughter for Mother's Day last week in a country town half way between us. There are 3 charity shops or as she calls them OP SHOPS! She managed to find a black pillbox hat and I found scented talcum powder. One lady in the first shop told me only old ladies use that....well I must be an old lady.

I have 3 photos so started with some brown and white Ruby Rock-it paper which has a textured look.

I layered vellum under my photos plus several scraps of patterned paper.

I then added laces,a button, a random wood veneer of Africa, part of  buckle, a paper clip, plus mixed alphas. The best thing was I used some fibre across the middle that I've had for 15 years or more!

Challenge #1 CKC Scraplift Kate

 Here is Kate's layout.

For Challenge #1 we are asked to scraplift this layout as close as we can.

I had 2 photos of the Dog on the Tuckerbox statue in Gundagai. They were taken late afternoon so a bit dark. I asked a random stranger to photograph me.

For my layout, I fussy cut some flowers I had and found pom poms plus ric rac braid to use.I also had a pink bow so put it top left just like Kate has done.I used 3 random brads and some mini letters. All of this except the pompoms are from my Counterfeit kit.

Moving along with the times

I saw this idea on Pinterest and decided to try it out.

I used 5 different washi tapes on this card and co-ordinating number thickers.

I'm entering it at Moving along with the times.

CKC International scrapbooking Day -Scraplifting Lisa. Plus Challenge YOUrself

Here are 3 pictures of Lisa's layout that I intend to scraplift.
I have a planet navy paper in my Counterfeit kit to use as my background.I also had another American crafts paper with semi circles that echos the half moons on the navy.
I used triple matting and several small tags overlapped. The light globes made a good embellishment. I did the journalling on the side in blue to match the paper.

Here's my layout. I'm also entering it at Challenge YOUrself.

My pink sparkly letters on the title show up better in real life.

CKC International scrapbooking day BBQ challenge

 Next is a BBQ challenge.

We sent in a combination of foods from the picture and Tara designated a challenge based on that.

Here's my combination.

I chose 2 Asian papers with a gold dragon/coin theme. One is bigger and one is smaller .I used the smaller one for my mats.

I made the gold frame from corrugated board. One corner tore so I wound embroidery thread around that part.

My stamped image says "LOVE IT".

I used a die cut word "cherished" as part of my title.

(Also Lasting Memories  wants us to use something old on a layout. That embroidery cotton I wound around the frame is 50 years old at least-from my childhood sewing lessons)

Appetizers: No cardstock
Main: 1 large photo, 2 smaller
Salads/Sides: 2 pieces of patterned paper
Veggies/Fruit: a frame
Desserts:die cut title (can be a die cut from an ephemera pack)
Beverages: stamped image (you do NOT have to stamp directly on your layout

CKC International Scrapbooking day Sketch challenge

Tina gave us this sketch to use for a layout.
I've decided to use the same paper as the last challenge and make it into a double layout.
I had 2 of the summer damask and 2 of the teal.

I'm happy with this one too.

Just to show you , here's the double!

CKC- International scrapbooking Day. 3 Favourites.

I'm working on Misty's challenge for CKC.

Starting with paper I chose this. It is all my favourite colours .Summer Damask

Looking in my counterfeit kit I'm inspired to use tags! The yellow alphas are going in here too.

Right, let's get started!

Here's my layout.

Item one: Paper

Do you have a favorite paper already in mind? Grab it! If not, go to your paper stash. Start flipping. When you get that wondrous rush of “how beautiful”, stop. Pull that paper. That is your first item.

Item two: Embellishment

I’m talking about just one type or package of embellishment here. Love sequins? Pull those. Stickers your thing? Grab a sheet. I did the same thing with my embellishment choice as I did with my paper, I just started browsing until one item gave me that "aha" feeling.

Item three: Alphas or Titles

How do you like to title your layouts? Do you use Thickers? Are you a die cutter? We know those jumbo phrase cut files are super hot right now. How about journal cards? Those can make great titles. Again, I just started flipping through my letter sticker bin until I stopped on an alpha set with a color that I swoon over.

National Scrapbooking Day colour palette

I'm organising one of the challenges for National Scrapbooking day on Counterfeit Kit Challenges.

It is based around one of the original photos from the kit.

I used Let's chip it to get my colours

It lends itself to autumn tones or winter if you take the blue, teal , white and black route.

In my case, I kept the palette near me and scrapped using colours on the grid.

Mainly yellow, orange and black with teal embellishments.

Have fun!!!      Happy scrapping from  Julene

Scrap the boys and Scrap room mother challenge

First here is the sketch at Scrap the boys.

I used 3 photos of Elvis items I saw in Parkes and thought it would be fun to use them. I also used more of my kit including some awful orange paper that I cut into strips for the background. There's lots of offcuts on that background!

The other challenge is at Scrap room, where there is a Mother challenge.

M=music, MME strips, Maggie Holmes strip

O= orange

T=thickers

H=Heidi swapp offcuts

E=Elvis

R=red, recycled title element. (musical came from another layout I ruined).

Paper Issues weekly scraplift

Above is the weekly Scraplift Sunday from Paper Issues.

It appealed to me as I have lots of those cut off strips and little embellishments to use.

Here's my take on it.

Most of the bits and pieces on here are from my kit, except a couple of offcuts. I used my school star stamp again. Had that since I was 18, so 50 years ago.

Throwback sketch

This layout, using more Counterfeit kit stuff, is based on a throwback sketch at The scrapbook Room.

I used 3 strips of paper under the photos plus 2 more at the top. All are in shades of green..There is also the flower with a punched centre and the black "discover" small journalling card. I particularly wanted to use those huge alphas.

Fusion challenge

The challenge at Fusion is the above combination.

I have blue butterflies in my kit so decided to make this card. One of my good friends has a birthday later this month. The white and silver background is embossed.

I'm sure she will love this.

Rochelle Spears and Scrap with Stacy.

Here's the sketch for Rochelle Spears challenge this month. It suited a paper  I had plus a beautiful photo of a camelia I took in Cowra.

Also at Scrapping with Stacy, there is a tic tac toe ,so I'll combine the two. I've gone across the middle row.

I used wood veneers for my stars and twine wound around the top of my photo.

Also on here are 2 flowers from Blossom Lane plus some vellum butterflies and a wooden heart. The tiny pink glittery flowers are from the alphas set.

I love working with the pink/aqua combo. It always produces nice layouts.

Sketches in Thyme

I put a large journal card in my kit featuring a bicycle because I wanted to use it.

This sketch at Sketches in Thyme provided the perfect opportunity.

I had 2 photos of bicycles in Eugowra that they use to decorate their town. Such a cute idea!

I layered the papers as best I could,my photos were bigger than in the sketch. I also had a small scrap of grey bicycle paper so that became my tags. The circles are hand stitched. Note also the ricrac which was another scrap I used.

Hexagons with May kit.

This month I'm working on my photos from a drive around Country Towns I did recently.

 First layout for new kit.

I always try and do the challenges at Lasting Memories. Right at the end of April they asked us to use Hexagons. I have recently bought some Jillybean soup " Remember Hexies" ,so decided to still do a layout despite it now being May.

The background paper is BOLT "Ticking" from Ruby Rock-it.  I have several sheets of it, so decided to use it this kit. It worked well with these 3 photos of Eugowra which I matted in green.

The hexies are in green, yellow and pale blues. I also trimmed a 4th photo to use as my title. Also on here are 2 chipboard small tags and a border strip from my kit.

*************************************************************************************Next I used a second sheet to compose another layout.

Eugowra was a tiny dot on the map and I intended to drive straight through it. As I drove into town I saw a mural on a wall about Australia's biggest gold robbery.

I'm interested in history so said to myself "I'm stopping here to look around". I was so glad I did!

I used the small photo of a (broken) road sign top left to show where I was. My photos are of the Gardiner gang who held up the stagecoach with their names.Someone has also made a bushranger out of old iron, complete with gun. The cows are made out of corrugated iron and painted.

You can see why I loved this town!

One of my new Items I used on here is the Basic Grey garland at the top. These come pre sewn so you just adhere them to your layout. The Love love love tag is from American Crafts cut aparts.

May Counterfeit Kit.

The May kit is from www.scrapbookdoodle.com and is named "Sweet Life"

It appears to have many butterflies and florals.
I noticed the 3 colours navy, gold and pink, so started my kit there.
I've also added the orange and pale green/aqua to my kit.

Presenting my kit " Country travels"

 Here's my papers.

I picked up on the spotted theme and the orange circles. The mixed butterfly paper has similar colour to my mermaid scales paper. I've put in what navy I had which happens to be phases of the moon, but it has small figures, so is similar. I've used a pale green with floral motif to match. The other green paper is more the aqua colour so I put that in too. Some of these are multiples and some are a smaller size.

My embellishments

I found lots of butterflies on tags as well as vellum. I was able to match the ribbon banner tag and the to do list. I added florals plus my twist, bicycles !

I've also added small flowers I found ,embroidery cottons, washi tapes, brads, twine and punched flowers.

My alphas are pink sparkly and yellow. I have just bought some new ones online which arrived in time too.

It's a short hop this month. Have fun with your kits everyone.
