Cardz 4 guyz

I've made this card for Cardz4guyz.

The challenge is to use tags. I'm using up a packet of  playing cards that I've had in my stash for ages.

I went with a black and white theme. The actual card is black cardstock. I made a tag with the king as my centrepiece. These work well on men's card. I used the word Happy as my sentiment and added gold embroidery thread as my trim on the tag.

.Those marks on the right are on my scanner.

Sisterhood of snarky stampers.

I've made this layered card for Sisterhood of Snarky stampers.

It is for a 34 year old and could be either for a male or female. There are 5 layers on here including the sentiment. The background paper has been stamped then misted over,so it has a feint image of the pattern.

Lasting memories- Hearts. and Allsorts challenge

This layout is using hearts and is for Lasting Memories.

My cousin asked me to do a layout of her grandson Henry.

I used 2 chipboard hearts. The top one is painted black and edged with lace. On the second one I mounted it on a flower then used lace in a heart shape around the photo. I also cut a pocket for the centre photo to be tucked under. It gave the blanket covering him a second layer.

I kept it clean and simple so those smaller photos would stand out.

********************************************************************************

While I've got the blue out I made a card for Allsorts challenge.

The challenge is use things with the letter B.

This card is blue and brown  and I used a (surf) board shaped (chip) board behind my sentiment.

Male Room and Lasting memories.

At the Male room  they want dry embossing.

I've made a card for a neighbour who is turning 80. He's very musical so this fits his interests.

and at Lasting Memories they want circles.

I had photos of a nepalese dancer that visited Mum's nursing home years ago. I used an interesting paper plus 2 circles that I painted blue.

I added flowers plus did some cross stitching around the circles.

Mystical cyber crop challenge 3.

I've used the same background paper again because it has orange and grey. I need to now use cream, red and kraft colours.

I'm basing my layout around this one I made for Scrap the Girls a few years ago.

Across the middle I used orange, cream embossed, dark grey, red check and a fawn/kraft colour.

I made a 3 layer doiley arrangement under my photo, then put a flower and leaf to the side.
I also tied a bow with camera ribbon to put on the other side. Next I added 3 grey buttons.
I've chosen  a small  title on this as it's busy enough.

My top 3 papers are crooked but I've adhered them so well that I can't move them.

Mystical cyber crop

Over at Mystical scrapbooking there are 3 challenges for the cybercrop.

The first is to use the colour orange.

The background paper is very busy so I chose another paper with orange but also lots of white. I tore it and put it across the centre. Next I found my scrap bag and tore other orange papers to layer on this layout.

Amongst the scraps I found the word "Fun", so cut it and placed it under the smaller photo. I used a Fiskars chipboard strip for my journalling and also added a fussy cut flower I found in the bag.

Another Disney layout-Mystical cyber crop. Challenge #1

While looking for the photos of Disneyland I found these.

We were in Disneyland California in 1998 and went to the Mark Twain paddle-wheeler.

The striped stuff behind the photos is acetate sheet I cut it to fit the need. I kept the rest of my layout fairly neutral except for some red puffy stickers.

Li'l red wagon and Papercraft challenges

A couple of weeks ago I was featured on Li'l red wagon with my ship in a storm card.

This has given me impetus to enter more card challenges, when I have time. So this week's challenge at

Li'l red wagon is 3 of something.

I'm using up (recycling) some maps from an old atlas. I used one on this card, then put a and across the top with 3 different arrows (puffy stickers). They all point to the sentiment, which says smile.

This card is going to a man in hospital. I thought the brighter colours might cheer him up.

                                                     *********************************

Next I made a card for Papercraft Challenges (papercraft-challenges.blogspot.com)

They want farm animals. I have had these chickens from Kaisercraft for years!  I cut out the hills and fence from matching papers and created a scene.

Paper Issues recipe challenge.

Choose 5 of the following items and use them on your project: frame, the number 6, purple, gold, patterned paper, doodling, flowers, 3 photos, fussy cut, labels.

I've chosen a pink floral patterned paper from my Counterfeit kit.

I matted my 2 photos on purple cardstock and used purple flowers. (D'lish scraps,my last flower)

I used gold ribbon down the side of the photos.

I have used labels on my 2 photos

That's the 5!!!

Some close up photos:

And finally my layout.

White with 1-Red

I've made this layout for White with one where the colour is red.

The Cosmo cricket paper I used as a mat features quotes and the title is one of those. I also found the bingo card in Red and white plus the red hat. I stippled paint and the zigzag edges and painted the chipboard white with gesso. The canvas flower petals were misted. The crochet flowers worked well on here too.

This is a teacher photo taken of me probably 20 years ago, maybe more.

Challenge #1 Counterfeit Kit.

We are asked to do a layout with a Disney theme.

Luckily, I went to Disneyland in California when Erica was 11. That was back in April 1998.

I used my American Crafts colourful paper on this layout plus made a feature of turquoise and red, which are 2 of the colours on Donald's outfit. I hand drew his hat and made a likeness to pop n the corner of the main photo. I used real grossgrain ribbon for the ties. I had some foam black highlighting strips from a set of alphas so used those to emphasise the photos too plus a wood veneer heart I inked in blue. There's also a border strip down the right hand side.

There was a sheet of quotes in my kit, so used one as my sub heading on here. I also popped some enamel dots on the layout.

Daring Cardmakers

At Daring cardmakers  here's their challenge.

I've used a downloadable digi goose picture on my Christmas card, plus several scraps of patterned papers. For a final touch I added bling to the egg.

I was giggling while I made this,it is such a funny image. Hope you like it too.

Freaky Fast formula.

Here's another layout using my April Counterfeit Kit. It is for the scraproom group Freaky Fast Formula.

My 3" x 5" piece is actually a paper cutlery bag which I recycled and used to hold the tag. I stamped the flowers on the tag in Cyan blue.

Pocket page and Challenge YOUrself.

Today I've made a pocket page. It uses the 2 forged papers I had in my kit plus a rose transparency. Inside the pocket is the program from a recent exhibition I attended with my daughter.

The painted wash on the blue paper suits the fact that it was an art exhibition.

We also had a yummy lunch while there, which is the other photo.

*********************************************************************************

Now at Challenge YOUrself they have asked us to use stars as it is their #100 challenge.

 CONGRATULATIONS !!!

I'm going back through old photos and found some  of Erica and I in Tasmania, at Bicheno Blowhole.

I've used a packet of fabric striped stars I had in my hoard and 2 brackets that matched the background paper. I also did some simple stitching in wave shapes on the right of the photos. That's me in the blue T shirt.

Lasting memories

Here's a layout for Lasting Memories and using my Counterfeit kit.

The challenge was triangles and I used a dark paper as my background. My triangles used scraps in shades of green. I've also used a black and white scrap of patterned paper with triangles.

To embellish it I used Jillybean soup letters in 2 colours (playing alpha scrabble). I also had a border strip in pink to match the flowers. The 2 butterflies were added because I read that echinacea attracts butterflies in gardens. There is also a fussy cut pinky flower cluster.

Mystical colour challenge and Rochelle Spears.

At Mystical scrapbooking there's this colour palette.

This happens to suit some of the papers in my Counterfeit kit. I've added cream matting for my photos.

Then at Rochelle Spears there's this sketch. I'm combining the two.

One difference I made was to put my photos at angles, it suited them better.

Here's some close ups

Here's the layout

I'm pleased to use that green leaves paper ,it is one of those you aren't sure about but I think it works here.

3 green layouts.

Here's my first layout with the kit. I made it for myself. No challenges connected to it.

I've used some Cosmo Cricket tags that I've had for years. They matched the colours perfectly .

Also on here is 3 flowers I constructed using the green base layer and the top red flower.. I added a wood veneer leaf(my last one).

                                                      *******************

Next I did a reflective layout for my Covid Album. I called it Survivor.

It's not my best photo,in fact it's a selfie I took while out for my morning walk.
On here I used more of my covid themed embellishments and described what life was like at the beginning of covid.
I'm about to get my 2nd booster owing to my low immunity.

                                                              ********************

By now can you tell I like green? This one also uses the Cosmo Cricket tags, which are all gone now.

These big frogs were in a park as an ornament and for kids to climb on. I thought they were fun. I've used smaller words that relate to frogs on my tags and used 3 brackets as well.

April Counterfeit Kit Challenge Reveal

Our kit for this month is from https://papersandbeyond.ca/collections/scrapbook-kits/products/follow-your-bliss-scrapbook-kit?variant=13568324042795

It says Spring to me with all those floral pieces and that paper from Vicki Boulton.

Here's her papers

and mine that I tried to match. (I went out of kilter owing to a lack of matching papers)
I DID find butterflies, just a different colour scheme.

Another kit group of their papers

And mine to match that group. (I did better here )

My embellishments are a mixed bag of stuff I found after making a list:
daisies
blobs
coffee cup marks
feathers
bright flowers
butterflies
pens
kettle/teapot
coloured birds
leaves

A close up of a group of flowers I've started putting together. Some are fussy cut etc.
I've strayed into reds as well as the kit colours, but that's ok with me. I will use them.

Lisa's preview reminded me I had lace flowers, plus floral ribbon so they're added as well.
Some are discoloured, but they can be soaked in cold tea or inked.
