Daring cardmakers and Seize the birthday.

 Good Morning.

Today I've made a card using a frame for Daring Cardmakers.

I started with a white embossed background. The frame was cut from an old birthday card and glued onto the embossing. I inked the centre of the frame with Versa Colour ink Cyan.

Finally I added my number or sentiment to the centre.

I'm also adding this at Seize the birthday where they want embossing on a birthday card.

Lasting Memories Black and white challenge.

At Lasting memories they have a black and white photo request.

I found this old sepia photo of Mum when she was in the church choir. It made a good subject to go with a bingo card I have had for ages that says "FAITH". I've been wondering how to use it.

I've used a variety of old patterned papers plus a bird picture and some lace and ribbon.

Tuesday Taggers and Fab and Funky.

I'm using up the few days left of January to make some tags from some scraps.

My first one is for Tuesday Taggers.

They want a quote so I made a vintage tag using a teabag, then walnut ink for my background. The quote comes from a Kaisercraft scrapbooking paper.

I added 2 gold heart brads as my finishing touch.

Next, I've made a card for Fun and Funky challenges..

I've used 2 tags as layering pieces plus patterned paper to make a sea themed card. It will go into the male card box.

Bonus challenge at CKC.

There was an extra kit challenge this month at Counterfeit kits. It was to make a card and matching tag.

As I had run out of paper I used scraps.

Here's the card and the tag below. The red is just backing paper and not part of the tag.

I've used a chipboard man as my conductor and drawn in his baton. I also doodled some extra musical notes.

My great nephew has just completed his final high school exams and received a high percentile in music. The card is for him.

Paper Issues sketch Christmas layout.

Yesterday I did another layout based on this paper issues sketch

It was featuring 2 Christmas photos from when my 2 best friends came to lunch. We ate prawns and salad with fresh bread rolls. Then rum balls for dessert.

I used a Bella red paper plus a random green Christmas paper that I had on this. The felt Santa boots and belt were left from Christmas card making. The alphas are mixed.

Paper Issues sketch.

I'm enjoying using the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Instafriends paper. In this case it is for a sketch on Paper Issues.

I had another vintage photo to scrap from my childhood.

Using a small red doiley and some green scrap strips I made the background for the photo. I double matted it,also in greens. My title was from a set I had and it refers to our happy childhood.

My smaller embellishments are from a Jillybean soup set I own, which have a retro flavour as well.

Counterfeit kit Challenge #2

For challenge #2 we are asked to use one of the sketches on Cindy's Pinterest page here

https://www.pinterest.com/cindyf2456/ckc-january-2022/

I have chosen this layout to scraplift.

I've used the 2 crate papers from my kit, Maggie Holmes Instafriends. It is actually 2 sides of the one paper.

I kept the other layers as neutral as I could so that the photo stands out. The 3 strips of yellow on the left were hand stitched using lots of embroidery thread.(Another mission I'm on is to use all that).

The flowers are from Autumn Lane. The journal circle is from Jillibean soup cardstock stickers.

I'm also entering this on Challenge YOUrself where the theme is friends working together.

As these are my 2 best friends, I think this qualifies.

We originally met in Rotaract (junior Rotary) where we did many community projects together, everything from painting houses to selling chocolate bars as fundraising.bArbara and I are travel buddies and problem solve when things go wrong, including famously getting stranded in Greece.

Hope you like it.

Lasting Memories pocket challenge.

Lasting Memories have a pocket challenge this month.

Now that my Counterfeit Kit is done, I can do some other layouts waiting in my "in tray", namely my brain.

On Christmas Day my daughter asked me to slice the strawberries and produced this strawberry slicer. I'd never seen one before so decided to feature it on a layout.

I chose reds as my feature colour. My pocket is a red chevron lolly bag behind the last photo. I find them good layering items.

I've done it like a sequence of events layout. Would you believe I had no strawberries in my stash?  There's also a lace doiley and ric rac on there as well as 2 red chevron journal tags.

Throwback sketch

The scraproom group on Facebook has this sketch for its throwback sketch.

I used the last whole paper from my Counterfeit kit to scrap my Christmas gift photos from my daughter. It was a beautiful towel set and matching tray with a leopard on it.

I matched the Kaisercrat dotted circles paper with another non-descript green paper and used black for my mid section. My embellishments are also Kaisercraft.

Taking a scan didn't work with all that pattern ,so I photographed my layout.

4 cards to use up pieces.

I'm nearing the end of my Counterfeit kit so I thought I would stop and use up some scraps or smaller pieces. I've made 4 cards.

For this last card ,I'm entering it at Shopping our stash.
They want something starting with S.
It is a striped card with spots and mentions the sun and the sky.
I'm hoping that qualifies it!

Kraft plus -Travel

Four years ago I made this layout for let's get sketchy. I really liked it!

At Kraft it up this month the theme is travel ,so I looked back and found the above layout.

I decided to use the same sketch idea on this new layout.

I had some background paper with mottled blues, whites and a sea green. I matted my 2 photos in blue.

I found the remaining St Tropez range items in my stash (there isn't much) and used 2 of the journal cards on here. To add 3D interest I found torn gauze plus twine, using both in small amounts. I've also added some enamel dots.

Using bubble wrap, I softly inked on the background with cyan.   I've layered that with painted chipboard and another circle sticker on the left and a quote on the right "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page."

Christmas tradition -Muppets

This layout is just for fun. It is part of Christmas last year. We usually watch a movie on Christmas afternoon and one of our favourites is The Muppets Christmas Carol.

The background paper is the one I forged by drawing branches across it and it provided a good neutral backdrop for these 3 photos.

The other 2 papers are offcuts and my alphas are a combination of 2 brown alphabet sets I had in the kit..

I've also used a tag, plus a few Jillybean soup stickers ,including those I stuck on the photos.

The scraproom change challenge and jumpstart sketch.

For the scraproom group they asked us to use the letters in CHANGE to create a layout.

C=Crate paper (birds)

H=happiness

 A=alphas,ampersand

N=numbers

G= green flower and grape button

E=embroidery cotton and Echo Park (yellow gingham)

Now I have copied the CHANGE letters from my post on facebook blogger is highlighting everything.

My other layout for The scraproom is this one. It is based on the jumpstart sketch.

I turned it 90 degrees to suit the landscape photos.

Watercooler Wednesday

I've made a feminine card for watercooler wednesday.

I had sewing themed papers with a vintage feel, so did a collage using 2 ladies I fussy cut out, plus a glove and a pink lace sticker. At the top I used a tab plus threaded through some more dressmaker paper.

My sentiment says Congratulations, I'm sure it will be handy.

January CKC Forgery on the Fourth.

Here are the kit papers. I didn't have anything with the black and white branches 4th from left so I forged that one using a zig pen.

Scrap our stash

The challenge at SCrap our stash is a recipe challenge.

We are asked to use ONE word title, TWO photos, THREE embellishment clusters, FOUR patterned papers and FIVE enamel dots, sequins or jewels.

My layout is about the day we demolished the childhood cubby house and features my nephew so it is a "blokey" layout. Not suitable for jewels or sequins. I managed to find 5 green enamel dots however. The 4 papers are there, one being the two colourful circles I cut. The three embellishment clusters are there.

1st double layout using January kit.

For this layout I used 2 Pink Paislee Captivating papers.

The busy pattern needed some hiding. I thought the woodgrain one teamed well ,as my photos mainly were trees and I used cork pieces to carry on the tree theme.

I've also used twine and embroidery cottons twisted as a trim under my photos ,an orange butterfly that matched perfectly and some mini Jillybean soup words that described the day.

My alphas are large and are from BELLA. They needed to stand out against all that.

I had a 2nd orange paper so decided to make a double layout. These photos are looking towards the lake itself and show activities there.

Again, I used the cork sticker and the twine and embroidery cotton twist. I've used the same chipboard alphas to do the date. The sunray in the corner is cut from a scrap I added to my kit.

Here's the 2 layouts stitched together.
