Sketches in Thyme.

This is another of the November sketches at Sketches in Thyme.
I've chosen the most spectacular and awe inspiring photo from my Grand Canyon collection.

My background paper is Bo Bunny Back to backs "Double Dot".
I started by misting with Kaisercraft gold.
While in America, I bought a packet of Grand Canyon 3D stickers of the Grand Canyon.
I've decided to incorporate some of those on my page.
I also used some Studio Calico frames plus buttons.
A simple page but I like it!

Tic tac toe challenge plus Addicted to stamps.

Over at Tic tac toe challenge this is the latest grid.

I've made a blue card for a man .I kept it CAS. So I went down the left hand column.

My sentiment is on the ribbon and says Happy Christmas in French.

*****************************************************************
My second card is for Addicted to stamps where the theme is monochrome.

I used a Kaisercraft stamp to get my bauble shape

This is the transparency that goes on top of the stamp.

I stamped it on the back of blue patterned paper then cut it out.
Using magic mount to make it 3d I mounted it on my background then adhered a bow and matching sentiment.
All is in blue, despite the background appearing aqua, it is actually sky blue.

Scraplift Sunday

It is scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues and here is the original

I started with a similar bone with brown dots paper from Kaisercraft.
Next I used Perriwinkle collectables for my layering.
The only non- Periwinkle on this is my 3 cork hearts.

My photos are bigger than those in the original layout so there isn't as much room for embellishments.

Challenge YOUrself

The fun challenge at Challenge Yourself is to use sprays and inks

I started with 2 papers from the Kaisercraft Periwinkle collection.
I painted across the LHS and the bottom.
Next I used a square pattern mask with black ink to put more depth.
I then drop mist around the top right corner, mainly to add balance.

My layout features 5 photos from our Trolley car ride in Sedona, where there are gorgeous red rock formations including a camel rock (can you recognise it?)
This one is cathedral rock

and this one is the native American woman with the energy healing vortex nearby.

Also on my layout is an old post office used in a John Wayne movie.
Here it is!

In the pink

In the pink wants stripes or spots.

It is nice to have a change making cards in colours other than red, green, silver ,gold for Christmas.

I've made a card for some friends who've just moved to a new home.
Here it is!

Sketches in Thyme

This is the latest sketch at Sketches in Thyme.
Brenda definitely picked a good one here!
Just constructing the background took over an hour, but, it was fun!!!!
I'm using Kaisercraft Perriwinkle collection again.

I've hand stitched the circle and used a transparency as one of my layering papers.
I added a bit of stippling to the bottom paper to resemble the river at the bottom of the canyon.

***********************
At deep ocean challenge they want things with wings.
I've chosen an angel on a silver and green Christmas card.
The black streak at the bottom of the card is metallic silver.

Tuesday Morning sketches

Here is the latest sketch at Tuesday morning sketches.

I've used washi tape and a pear cut from an old Christmas card (recycling) on this card.

I'm also entering at Crafty Hazelnuts

Scrapping4fun challenges.

Scrapping4fun challenges has this tic tac toe board.
I've gone across the top line.

A lady at our scrapping group gave me the whole set of "Periwinkle" by Kaisercraft. (She didn't like it ?????)
Anyway her loss is my gain. The tawny browns match my Grand Canyon photos beautifully.
I have a few layouts to do using these papers.

I tied the twine to the transparency tag that I made. The ribbon runs across the bottom and the chipboard shell rests on the ribbon.

Scrap the girls

The topic at Scrap the girls is shoes.
I made this layout using a strip of photos of my daughters favourite shoes.
They are black suede with diamentes on them.
I used Scrapmatts chipboard shoes plus red hot sparkles by Papermania.

Another freaking scrappy challenge

My daughter is a big fan of the rock band,  "Superjesus"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Superjesus

Their lead singer is Sarah McLeod.
Recently my daughter went to their concert and was able to meet Sarah.
This inspired my layout featuring the word, thankful.
That was one of the words of choice for Another freaking scrappy challenge
Another freaking scrappy challenge

Scrapping Outback

WHITE with Green and Blue with a touch of grey or silver

This is the November challenge at Scrapping Outback.
I was away for the first half of the month then full steam ahead into Christmas cards and CKC stuff.
Finally, I'm finding some free scrapping time.

On my way home from USA, I managed to get a swim in  Hawaii. It was in the hotel pool.

I bought 2 stickers featuring snoopy, this one says dog paddle...appropriate for swimming.
The colours of these 2 photos leant itself to this challenge.

I've used chipboard dolphins (bought locally at a no-name brand store).
The thickers are American Craft and are also chipboard.

I also used some droplets from FWAB.
The paper is Ruby Rocket The Summerhouse.

Of course the frilly edge goes all the way around. (Why are scanners 11.5 inches ,not 12?)

Paper Issues number challenge

Finally time to scrap for myself! I've made all the Christmas cards I need to.
Anymore now will be put away for next year.

I've chosen to enter a challenge at Paper Issues.

We are asked to use numbers in the title.

On my recent trip overseas I stopped en route in Hawaii. It was just an overnight stop but well needed. On the way over I went to Waikiki beach and reminisced about being there 37 years ago.
It was just before I got married and my friend and I were having a "last fling" before we both married our chosen men.

I've used Fancy Pants "What a wonderful Day" paper.
I managed to cut a small scalloped cork strip from behind the photos.
The snoopy sticker I bought there. I punched the sun from yellow vellum and the puffy cloud and flower are from this month's Counterfeit Kit.

Freshly made sketches & sweet sketch wednesday

Here's the sketch at Freshly made sketches.
The paper I chose has trees all over it so I've gone with a natural, forest look on this card.

At Sweet Sketch Wednesday here is their sketch

And my card

The sketch File & Cards in envy

The sketch file uses a London Underground design.

I've gone OTT with bling on this one because some people like the razzle dazzle.
And if you can't go blingy at Christmas, when can you?

Cards in envy has a paper only challenge.
I used 2 punched pointsettias on green background. Everything on here is paper.

Allsorts challenge blog

My next card is for Allsorts challenge where they want glitter.
My sentiment block across the centre is on white crystal glitter paper.
I've edged it with tiny Christmas washi tape.

Cardz4guyz and Cute card Thursday.

Cardz4guyz want reindeers.
Because of the volume of cards I made to sell, I'm fresh out of reindeers.
However I did find a picture of a baby deer ,so hope it qualifies.
Think of it as a deer who hasn't grown its antlers yet.

I'm also entering in Cute Card Thursday where they want birds or animals.

Case this sketch

Another sketch at Case this sketch.
I've gone space -age Christmas with this card.
The black stars are really metallic silver and the black swirl across the centre is metallic red.
It is quite a pretty card really.
(I hate the way metallic surfaces come up black)

Christmas cards all year 'round & CAS on sundays

Christmas Cards all year 'round want cookies or gingerbread.
I've made a card using a felt gingerbread men, a doiley and a sticker.
The sentiment says "Eat, drink and be merry"

At Clear and simple on Sundays they have asked us to use Washi tape.
My grey background is cut from Christmas paper.
I made a tag using 5 different Christmas washi tapes then added a matching strip at the bottom.
My sentiment is actually on the washi.

The tape that looks black is actually gold.

I'm also entering at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge

Let's get sketchy.

Another layout for Let's get sketchy.
Here is the sketch.

Because my photos are retro and bright I followed that lead.
My background paper is from Webster's pages. I used a metallic red for my photo mat and added a red doiley in the back.
The black border sticker was from my Counterfeit kit and the 3 pennants at the bottom are from scraps.
We visited this diner in Phoenix Arizona when I was there. It took me back to Happy Days.

Shopping our stash & the Holly and the Ivy.

At Shopping our stash this time they want transportation.
I'm hoping sleighs count.
Yes, it is another Christmas card.

I'm also entering this one at The holly and the Ivy. where it is anything Christmas

Rochelle spears rewind challenge.

I loved the bird singing on this sketch.
It evoked happy memories of my trip, especially to the Phoenix Botanical gardens.I was expecting cacti and wow did I see some. The most famous variety is the Saguaro-pronounced sowaro.
I've made a layout about those.
My title is in a different spot as it was too crowded in the original area for it.
I'm pleased that I have used another cork border plus the last of the Studio calico stickers.
My sewing is not brilliant at the moment as I have 3 ulcers on my right eye meaning my vision is blurry.

Thursday, 16 November 2017

Let's get sketchy.

I've chosen corrugated cardboard for this photo of Montezuma's castle in Arizona.
It was built by native Americans around 1100 A.D.
I loved the layering in the rocks there and the stripes on both papers reflect that.

It is for the first November sketch at Let's get sketchy.
Despite having used all the papers in my Counterfeit kit, I'm still working through the embellishments. On this I used another cork strip, plus the frame stickers behind the photo and the alphas.

Stuck?! sketch #2

Here is the November 15th sketch at Stuck?! sketches.

I had 2 sheets of Fancy Pants Happy Place papers. One had folded birds all over it.I immediately thought of my photo.
There were also 3 flairs so I used them all on this layout.
Despite pressing on the scanner I still had shadows.(sorry)

Freshly made sketches & Jingle Belles

Here is the new sketch at Freshly made sketches.
Luckily I chose a paper which had a pattern in the bottom right hand corner already.
The holly bough was a die cut I had as was the sentiment.

I also made this card using some new washi tape I've bought.

Next is for Jingle Belles where they want thank you cards for Christmas.
I've used the same paper but kept it simple.
