We are asked to scrapbook an Event for this challenge.
Erica turned 34 in November and now we are 2 mature ladies we went to the Hyatt hotel for a high tea.
It was very special and food was scrumptious.
I chose grey and pink for this layout and kept it simple as I needed to fit 3 photos plus the large card on it, containing the title.
I used a strip of the black and white diagonal paper to tie it in with the other layouts I've already done about this.
The next challenge at Lasting memories is best sellers.
AS a librarian, I'm always reading and I had to do this challenge didn't I?
Many years ago I read a Town like Alice and I've also seen the movie a few times. Then 5 years ago I visited Alice Springs. The photo is the Red Dog Cafe where I bought a coffee.
I used colours that blended with the photo and added another photo of the book's cover. I also added a large flower, small amount of washi tape, butterfly and some enamel dots. I hope you like it!
Challenge #2 is Let's begin
Record the start of something new - or a fresh start or a restart - on your pages. Or maybe you could start a new technique for the first time on your page. Or try a new design. Or a new-to-you colour combination.
I had a good think and came up with a peephole technique using tearing and an extra sheet adhered to the back which needs to be double sided.Using 2 of my woodgrain papers, I wanted the flaps that peeled back to also be woodgrain.
I tore rather than cut because I was going for a rustic look.
At Mystical Scrapbooking there is a cyber crop featuring sketches.
The next challenge was using this sketch
In 2019 we were lucky enough to travel to Christchurch in New Zealand for a week's holiday.
At the Male Room they have asked for an animal.
I've had a couple of transparencies featuring Alice in Wonderland here for a while so I used this one containing the MARCH HARE as well as Alice and the Ma Hatter.
I'm sure a 6 year old boy will enjoy looking at it.
I'm now actually finished my Counterfeit kit. I used the offcuts from my mini album on this layout. The background paper was not in the kit but so close in colour I knew it would work. The photo was a double up from those in the mini album.
We were provided with this sketch.
Here's my layout.
At Moving along with the times, the theme is NEW.
I've chosen New Baby Boy.
I actually made 2 cards so you can take your pick.
and this one which used up a scrap from my kit papers,
Both will go into the card sales box. I sell quite a few baby cards normally.
I'm up early this morning as breakfast had to be over before 7. (Fasting for 2 hours before having a CAT scan done)
I'm making cards, using small pieces left over from my Counterfeit kit.
The first card is for Tuesday morning sketches.
My second card is for Atlantic Hearts sketch challenge
I had quite a few papers left and a set of 12 photos on the one theme I wanted to scrap.
I decided to make a mini book.
First I covered some strawboard for my cover.
Next I measured up the inner pages, ensuring they were all the same size. (26cm x 12). I adhered them in pairs, back to back.
I decided where my ribbon would thread through and with a sharp darning needle pierced all pages on the middle spine. I threaded the ribbon through and tied it. (NB : This might need to be adjusted after you've finished crafting.
Starting with my front cover I began decorating and adhering the photos.
I used paper strips, ribbons, ,Darkroom Door words, stickers, wood veneer logs sliced, 2 blackboard labels and white pen, green painted wood veneer fern, a paper frame and thickers words "adventure" and "smile".
Here's the finished product.
My next layout is a simple one for The scrap room.
I used all green tones on this layout including some vellum and a doiley as my 5.5" circle.
At Scrap our stash there is a remix challenge
Lori's lovely layout is to be scraplifted.
I started with a wooden look background. My circle is pale green spots. The strip down the right hand side is red and white, so there is a touch of Christmas. My washi tape top and bottom features tiny gold Christmas trees.
I added a new Cocoa Vanilla flair that says "Love this".
I wanted to use 3 photos of the food so trimmed them as much as I could. It left an uneven top to the photos, but it doesn't worry me. My journalling explains what was going on. The hostess that day offered one of each. I managed the pudding and the pavlova but not the cheesecake. It was too much.
My alphas are a mix of stickers, yes,no,maybe was cut from a journal card; the black title is kaisercraft.
Another challenge at Paper Issues this month is to use some 4x3 cards from our stash.
I started with an AMM Herbanella paper I had in my kit.It was muted colours and up until now I've been uninspired to use it. These 2 photos from Boxing Day at a friend's house suited it well.
As they are religious we said Grace befpre the meal and the journal card featuring the prayer went perfectly with the word "grace".
I matted the photos on olive green to keep the subtle tones. Teo of those cards I actually made using scraps from a previous kit years ago. The white one was handy to journal on and the spotted one has a centre from another paper. My only other embellishment is the large wood veneer mandala/doiley shape.I lightly inked it with sage to mute it as well.
I'm using the 2 blue papers from my kit to scrap-document a phenomenon in the sky recently.
Jupiter and Saturn aligned on 20th December 2020 for the first time since the 1600s. First noticed in 1226.They are calling it "the Christmas star" as to an ancient eye it would appear bright in the sky.
I was able to copy this photo at the time, it is not one of mine.
There is a purplish touch to this photo so I used mist on my background paper.Next, I layered the torn spotted paper with black lace. I found a couple of purple scraps, plus silver so used those as layers under my photo.
I did some hand stitching in navy thread and added blue brads at one end.I had a couple of darkroom door words that suited this and a wood veneer mountain to allude to the mountain in the photo. On that I used blue liquid pearls to add a night time shadow on the mountain.I also used a star stamp and black ink to stamp some stars.
The colour for December and January is garnet (red). There is also a sketch which I tried to follow despite the fact that my photos are 3 different sizes.
I used a striped paper from my kit, mounted on white card.
I placed the photos on vellum then positioned this to the left and a journal card to the right.I layered a red doiley under the right hand side. After writing my journalling, I added my title then added 3 cream bow wood veneers as my embellishments.
The new year begins and lets hope it is better for everyone. I certainly don't want to repeat 2020!
The new kit is the Flurries Deluxe kit at Not just for boys kit club.
