The Paper players

I've made another card this morning using the last of my stars kit, for Paper players

Here's their sketch with lots of layers.

and here's my interpretation of it.

 It is a congratulations card.

I'm pleased I could use the zigzag washi tape on this plus a cream label that I had in my stash.

Mojo Monday

Here is the latest sketch at Mojo Monday

I decided to do another Christmas card.

Every year I send a card to my friend Chris and her husband , Noel. It has become a joke for me to send a noel card. I chose red white and blue for this card and finished it off with a silver star and some blue pearl bling. I think it looks festive.

As you like it challenge

I used the purplish paper from the mat on the previous layout to make 2 cards.

Along with the paper I added items from my beach kit, including the sunglasses, a scalloped edging and a pink bling flower. The tag came recently with a prize I won on CSI.

I'm entering these both on AS you like it challenge where they ask bright or pastels?

I personally like bright colours on cards, it looks more cheerful . (The one exception would be sympathy cards.)

Lasting Memories -Flowers

At Lasting Memories this week they want flowers.

This gave me the opportunity to use the botanical kit from CKC which so far I have largely ignored.

I had a paper featuring big white lilies, so I fussy cut around the tops of  those to pop my photo under.I double matted and found a purple paper in my stash to match. Then I glued 2 larger flowers in white plus the very last of my green Prima flowers I bought 16 years ago. (hooray!)

The left hand side looked bare so I used a strip of Graphic 45 Fairy paper to compliment the green and minor colours such as mauve in my photo.

AAA cards

I'm joining in on this challenge at AAA cards and have used blue cardstock plus an owl from my botanical kit.

I found a strip of coloured paper which blends with the colours and measured it to 1/3 of the total card.

My owl sits on one end with the sentiment.

The dirty marks are on my scanner not the card.Soon to rectify that !

ABC Christmas challenges

ABC Christmas challenges want S for Snow or T for tinsel.

I've made a card using 2 different snow papers plus 2 strips of washi tape.

The lower strip of washi says Christmas and seems to spark in the scanner for some reason. It doesn't have that line in real life.

Sketch 'n'scrap challenges

I've made 2 cards for Facebook sketch 'n' scrap challenges

The first has this sketch

I used blues mainly here

I love the softness of this despite it having a few colours on it.

Next is this sketch plus we needed to use red and green

Paper Issues sketch

I'm using this sketch from Paper Issues for this layout.
In my telephone kit I had 2 phones plus paper that matched. So I have used it plus scraps fromother red papers in that kit to make this. I have copied the same photo twice thinking I might doodle a curly phone cord but decided the paper is too busy to do that. I did use faux stitching around the triangles.
I kept it simple otherwise.

Sketches in Thyme

I've made this layout for Sketches in Thyme.

I started with the sketch which looks like this.

Using my star kit from my CKC collection, I had a stripes plus lemon background.

Next I added the white doiley then cut layers of the other papers. I matted my 2 photos on a gold coloured card. Extra to the sketch I added a strip of green so that my white alphas showed easily.

Where the chevrons are top and bottom I used washi tape then put my star embellishments on. I also added a strip of hessian ribbon with a knot to add more texture.

The ampersand made a good tag.

This layout will go in my covid album so I can remember these fun pictures.

This or That at Paper Issues

My next page is based on Paper Issues "This or that" challenge.

For this I'm using my star kit.
I cut 3 yellow cardstock squares and wound twine around one of them.
My kit contained 2 small rainbow images which I have used. The bag is on the top square with the heart and the smaller rainbow is hanging from a safety pin (metal pin) on the twine.
I journalled about the Beatles.

Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday

Here's my scraplift for Paper Issues Scraplift Sunday.
I used my telephone kit on this one.
There is a red striped strip cut off the bottom of the layout.

It is based on this layout.

Sketch 'n'scrap plus Challenge YOUrself

This is the sketch for Sketch 'n'scrap. Plus there is a thankful challenge at Challenge YOUrself.
Also at The paper girls challenge they want "around the world".

I'm combining the 2 with 2 photos I took in Pompeii in 2009.
It was so hot that day! All we wanted to do was sit somewhere cool and have a drink. It isn't my happiest photo for that reason.

I used the remnants of my summer kit on this, including sunglasses and ice cream die cuts. There are 5 tiny chipboard hearts and I added pink pearls to look like sprinkles on the ice cream cone.
I used a washi tape under the white paper as the 2 borders tended to blend together.

Jumpstart sketch

Image may contain: text that says 'TITLE PHOTO PHOTO PHOTO Sketch by Brenda Ragsdale'

This is the Jumpstart sketch at The scraproom group.
I use 3 photos from our trip to Las Vegas of the hotel where we stayed, New York, New York.

Using my telephone kit papers plus some stars from the star kit, I constructed this layout.

While I had the blue out I made this monochromatic card for Cardz4guyz.
My grand nephew is turning 17 soon and is musical. I thought this might appeal to him.

Note the fringed side.

My time to craft and Krafty chicks.

Another Christmas card ,this time for My time to craft.
I used another set of the felt Santa boots, belt and mittens on a tag that has had red mist dribbled on it.
I added another layer of green card which has been embossed with flowers.
This qualifies me at My time to craft where the challenge is embossing.

I'm also linking up at Krafty Chicks where Christmas is the theme.

This next card is using my telephone kit and red, white and blue colours.
I'm entering it in Colour my heart dare  #410

Lasting memories

The next challenge at Lasting memories is to  Create a layout with a throwback family theme. Something the symbolizes history to you and your family.

The other criteria is England.

I'm lucky with this as my mother bore a striking resemblance to the Queen.
I made my layout about Mum's 21st and used a photo fussy cut of the real Queen on my layout as well.
I used blue papers plus pearls and a border strip and a chipboard heart.
My scan is darker on the left because of the tag and pearls. No matter how I flattened it,the shadow kept appearing.

Sorry about white boxing it initially came out as red text so I changed the colour and it has left the white boxes.

Christmas cards all year round.

I'm making a quick card tonight for Christmas cards all year round.

We have to use at least 2 things starting with S.
I have a Spattered tag with inking through a stencil on star paper and with felt santa clothes.
That's 4!
I chose not to put a sentiment as I plan to use this for young children.

2 scraproom layouts

I've been ploughing through my 4 kits and creating more layouts.
These 2 were for the scraproom.
First one is Freaky fast formula

I used my nature kit for that and created this layout.

The second is using the letters in the word doily (doiley in Australia).
D= daisy,doiley
O=overlapping
I=inked title
L=lace trim on card
Y= yellow.

This one used items from the telephone kit mainly.

Pantheon double.

This morning I created a 2nd page to go with yesterday's Pantheon photos.

I used the same papers and trimmings

I then stitched the 2 layouts together to look like this.

Anthology Bookmark and Let's get sketchy plus lasting memories

Frilly and funky  has a bird challenge.

I started with Kaisercfart Anthology collection with the paper named Ephemera .
It features birds and feathers on the piece I cut, so qualifies me for theme.
As it is a bookmark I didn't want to get too 3D and frilly. I used a chiffon ribbon saying LOVE in gold print and a Webster pages "designer threads" lace blue bird. I rounded the corners to make it easier to handle.

I'm currently using a receipt from a shop as my bookmark, so this will be much nicer.

*******************************************************************************

At Let's get sketchy there is this sketch

While I had the Antholgy papers out plus my Vintage kit, I decided to scrap 3 pictures of the Pantheon in Rome.

I chose a neutral background and inked through a mask with "old paper" distress ink. That colour works so well for vintage and aged layouts.
Turning over the same Anthology paper I had a black with neutral spots. It reflects the circle from the hole in the roof photo.
I used a ginger and pale green papers as my mats, with Kraft and another neutral as my strips. The triangles are a yellow behive pattern plus a ginger and white stripe to co-ordinate.
It needed a 3rd circle so I used a large brad with a faint checked pattern to match the background.

As you like it and Case this sketch challenge

As you like it challenge wants us to use ribbon and explain our favourite way of using ribbon on a card.
For me it is with tags. They go together so well and a tag doesn't look finished unless it has ribbon.
This time I made a Christmas card and used gold edged robbon at the top of my tag along with a silver brad.

At case this sketch they want someting based on this sketch

Using a special hessian ribbon I have in my kit I made this card.
Although it isn't a branch of flowers it will work well as a Father's Day card.

Rochelle Spearrs and Scrap with Stacy challenges

Here's the sketch at Rochelle spears challenge and the accompanying challenge at Scrap with Stacy is a tic tac toe.

I decided to go across the bottom row Notebook paper, washi tape and wood.

Using my Summer Days kit, I remembered a photo from our trip through Italy.
We stayed near the Trevi Fountain, so every night we would go down there and people watch and usually eat a gelato. It was late May and the temperatures were continually in the 30 degrees range.

On my layout I started with a white background, then cut that busy words paper featuring sunglasses and ice creams. I layered other papers trying to use those which had gelato colours.
The notebook paper I put on the left and used it for my journalling. The green spotted washi tape toned in well too.
My wooden elements are the 3 wood veneer hearts top and right.
I've also used 3 small hearts from Cedar lane kit I had a couple of years ago.The 2 large ice cream embellishments are in my kit.

The photo is straight on the page, it was taken at an angle.

Paper Issues sketch

Paper Issues had this sketch plus a log cut file.

I decided to do something slightly different so traced around a large doiley then stitched circles to form my background.
I used strips cut off the bottom of papers as my matrix . The rest are items from my "Summer Days" kit.

Ice creams instead of BBQ.

Ring Ring

(Telephones instead of school theme)

You're a star
More general star ,less rock and roll.

Vintage Anthologie.

(Keen watches might remember an anthologie kit last year) I'm using up the remnants, plus a Graphic 45 paper I've been hoarding way too long.
