ColourQ and Use your stuff

This is the palette for ColourQ and at Use your stuff this week we are asked to use strips of paper.
I have plenty of those!

I've constructed this card using both criteria plus some punchies and rhinestone pearls.
The rainbow flower was bought ages ago and seemed to be asking to put on here.
The background card is black with a white insert of course.

Rochelle Spears Tic Tac Toe challenge

At Rochelle Spears Tic Tac Toe challenge we are asked to choose a row from the grid above.
I have gone down the right hand side. Chevrons, ribbon and mist.

I started with a gorgeous aqua vellum mounted on white cardstock.
Next, I sorted hrough my black & white scrap bag and found some papers that suited my photo.
There was bookprint, larger alphabets, grey floral, a blue floral(other side of a black paper), the tag featuring 2 ladies, a checked paper, plus a circle cut in striped paper.
 All these went on the layout.
NEVER THROW AWAY SCRAPS OF A USEABLE SIZE!

I misted my vellum using turquoise.
I've used chevron washi tape under the picture.
My ribbon had a metallic stiffness to it, so I was able to twirl it and hold it in place with brads.

My theme is very early Spring as this was the time of year we visited Canada's Rockies.
The floral touch plus the pastel aqua allude to spring.

Sketches in Thyme

At Sketches in Thyme this is the current sketch and here is my layout.

I've used those do it yourself thickers on this.
It requires mounting back to front, then cutting around them but I like their appearance.
It also enables me to use scraps of patterned paper, which I have done here.
The flower embellishments are neutral so that the colours of the photos show up.

Try it on Tuesday or Tuesday Taggers with wings.

At http://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.com.au/ the theme is "They who have wings".
I have a surplus of butterflies since Flutterby Wednesday closed down.
These 4 chipboard ones are from Memory Maze.

I started by misting the butterflies in turquoise.
Liquid pearls in white was used to highlight the wings.

I used a Jennifer Grace "Happy Scatters mask of raindrops, using a forest green mist.
I inked the 4 cards with yellow, then used a Kaisercraft Crysanthemum stamp plus "old paper" distress ink to give a subdued background.
Finally I assembled them and here are my 4 AST cards which I may use as starts for Mother's Day cards.

Scrap our stash

I have been enjoying doing the Scrap our stash challenges each month as they make you "Think outside the square". This month is no exception.
We are asked to use items starting with the letters in stamp.
Here's what I did
S= silver, star, stripes(ribbon),staples and stamp.
T=tag,tearing
A=arrows
M=music, mini letters.
P=punched items.

I will admit that the photo is not mine. I found it on Pinterest.
As it is autumn here, I am inspired by the colours. I went looking for a quote featuring silver and golden and found this one by Shelley. I've hand written on the layout.
My tag says Float which matches the quote.

The brown border continues along the bottom as well.

Forgeries on the 4th- Vellum shapes.

In our April Counterfeit kit there are several vellum elements.

As I want to use up what I already have, I've chosen to make my own vellum items.

Firstly I punched some flowers

Next I traced around some templates

And finally I used a Hot off the press Mini Envelopes template to make......mini envelopes!

I filled some with sequins, one has a rub on over the top, and I decorated others.

A tip I can give you is keep any "Negatives" from diecuts or chipboard in a plastic sleeve.
They can often be traced around and used for shapes.

These above vellum items will appear throughout this month on layouts etc.

Here's one example. Who can spot the mini envelope?

Stuck?!

This sketch at Stuck really appealed to me.

 I started with the Core'dinations card from my Counterfeit Kit.
It was sanded to make the dots more prominent.
After placing my doileys,tags and papers I've glued silver wide ribbon with a strip of sequins across the middle.
The muslin flower in the bottom right has been inked lightly with silver to give it more sparkle.
