Retro Sketches #233
Here's the sketch from http://retrosketches.blogspot.com.au/
and here is my card. I've added a gold sparkly sentiment to make it more Christmassy.

Shopping our stash.
I'm quietly sitting here making cards today as yesterday I was diagnosed with pneumonia.
I've been told to rest.
Craft lowers my blood pressure and relaxes me, so here I am.
Over at http://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com.au/ they want fairies or angels.
After searching high and low I found one angel picture.
I made this card using her.
Looks like I'm just scraping in at Shopping our stash as there is only an hour to go.
Jingle Belles and Use your suff
The challenge at Jingle Belles is to use a bell on your Christmas Card.
I had none, so I made one.
I cut out the shape from fawn cardstock then misted it with Kaiser antique gold mist.
As a finishing touch, I've drawn lines around the base of the bell with gold gel pen.
It is mounted on a silver card with a matching gold star patterned paper .

Meanwhile at Use your stuff they have a moodboard
I've made a card on silver again but used black, white and yellow.
I was inspired by the polkadots and the yellow flowers.
This can work as a friendly catch up card or even a sympathy card.

Somewhere in Cologne...a scraplift.
I saw this layout on Pinterest when searching for ways to use 2 little yellow bicycle papers in my kit.
In fact the green middle section is the reverso of mine with the houses on it.
My 2 colours on this are blues and oranges/tans.
I'm pleased to have used the last of the apricot punched flowers, the cream alphas, the square window quote, the rooster toothpick flag and the journaling tag. They all match colour-wise!
I had to use a V instead of a U but it still works I think.
The hand made paper isn't crooked, the photo makes it appear so.
Challenge YOUrself
Sewing seems to be the idea of the month. I noticed it on a few card challenges last night as well.
I've chosen the Prima Songbird paper for this challenge.
My stitching has been done on a skew angle to match the stripes in the ribbon below the layout.
I'm pleased to have used the felt and hessian heart that I made with a button SEWN on.
There was a random acorn so I added that as well.

Furry friends at Through the purple haze. and Pink Gem
Another new card challenge site for me Through the purple haze.
This time they want furry friends, and I just happen to have a panda card
I kept it simple using silver white and of course black on the panda.

And back to one I haven't visited for a while, Pink Gem challenge, where they ask for a female birthday card
Try it on Tuesday
I've been away again for 2 weeks holiday minding a friend's dogs and house.
While away I made over 30 cards, sitting in the spring sunshine and looking at the beach...delightful.
At TIOT they want cards using only 2 colours.
I've made a birthday card for male or female, using only black and red.(plus white).
My background cardstock is silver.

Counterfeit Kit challenge #2
CHALLENGE TWO: Just
One Lesson For this challenge, we're going "Back To
School". Go back to any class you've taken that is scrapbook related, and
just do one of the lessons. Remember you can take inspiration in any way for
this challenge, your project doesn't have to be the same as the teacher's. Just
let us know what class it's from, and how you were inspired by the teacher. If
you've never purchased a scrapbook class, I would recommend checking out the
Twopeasinabucket channel or Crafty Jen Schow's series on youtube for several
free classes.
The technique I've chosen is weaving. It can be used in a variety of ways on scrapbooking layouts and cards, but I watched this video and it inspired me to use all those end strips.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgYiDagQKWE
Remember to adhere the top end before you start weaving as this stops it slipping
Choose a photo or two that are reasonably neutral or without too many colours.
I chose 2 dark ones and after matting, decided to turn the layout sideways.
My ticket from the Rijks Museum became my title.
Above it, I had a ticket shaped picture from a birthday card featuring people entering a building.
I've added other embellishments as needed and because I had no E left in my alphas, I wrote everyday is a boon.(old fashioned word )

Picture this
At Picture this challenges it is boys rule.
This gives me the opportunity to finish a layout I started back in April.
ANZAC day is important to Australians as we commemorate and remember the soldiers who fought for our freedom in all wars.
I began by buying this iconic ANZAC paper on sale.
When visiting the War Memorial in Canberra I took a photo of this photo of soldiers with a kangaroo mascot in Egypt.
I've used hessian, old buttons, khaki ricrac, a tag with twine, a punched shape featuring buttons and a brown heart. The last 3 items are from my Counterfeit Kit.

In the pink
http://inthepinkchallenge.blogspot.com.au/ wants buttons and bows.
In my mother's stash was a piece of braid remaining from a bedroom chair she reupholstered.
I also found some tiny bows that matched it nicely.
The patterned paper was from my Counterfeit Kit. I hand wrote the sentiment.
The whole thing has a shabby chic look.

Merry Monday #212 and Mojo Monday
The challenge at Merry Monday as you can see is only gold, black and white.
I love this colour combination as it looks so classy!
My card has a tiny bit of Kraft on the tag but otherwise that is 2 different shades of gold and white on the alphas not cream as it appears.
Next is a seasonal card for Mojo Monday
and here's the sketch
Jingle Belles and Christmas Card challenges
At Jingle Belles they want music on a Christmas Card.
I've obliged with this creation.
I'm loving the wood veneer reindeers but then I do have a Christmas thing about reindeers!

Lets create challenges and a double.
I'm ploughing through my Counterfeit Kit this week and this is my second layout today.
In my kit was Sassafrass Lass Hog Heaven paper featuring little forest animals.
It was too busy to use the whole sheet in one go so I started by cutting a strip off the bottom.
Next I used my October Afternoon spotted paper from 5 and Dime collection.
This prompted me to enter this layout on http://letscreatechallenges.blogspot.com.au/ where the theme is spots or stripes.
I appear to have a liking for spots.
Still working through my photos, here are 2 of the many castles we saw while cruising along the Rhine. In fact, we attended a banquet at Marksberg castle. (Second layout coming)
Anyway here's my layout.
I'm pleased to use that slide mount which I layered with a brown heart.
*****************
I've decided to put the second half on this same post as well.
This layout features 4 photos. As the castle was only a little photo, I used a Heidi Swapp frame and placed it at the top of the other 3 photos. They show the activities at the Medieval banquet that we attended.
Leslie will be pleased to see I used another charm, a tiny piggy hanging from the letter B.
There is also another flag from October Afternoon on there.(Can't have a castle without a flag).
and then I've stitched the 2 layouts to give you the overall effect.

Show us your stuff
Over at Show us your stuff this month they ask us to used mixed media plus add a handmade item.
I've used an Echo Park paper from my kit featuring droplets of water.
We are given this sketch
I've combined all necessary ingredients in this layout.
My handmade item is the "flower" made myself by layering hessian, shiny cardstock, felt floral border strip and a button. The colours march those on the layout and also allude to the stamp I used.
There's also washi tape, twine, and a flag pennant all from my Counterfeit Kit.

Scrapping Clearly
I'm still scrapping my Europe photos and these 2 are from Edam in Holland.
We went to the cheese markets to see how it was sold in the "olden days".
I've misted my background with candy apple red and yellow(cheese) match.
I was inspired to use my photos by the round grapefruit slices=round cheese and the shoe reminded me of all the walking we did in Holland.
The floral above the camera reminds me of that I've used at the sides.
I hope that is enough connection to the mood board other than the colours.
My embellishments are an October afternoon flag on a toothpick, a gold Heidi Swapp "adventure",
a chipboard bicycle painted metallic pink(like the lipstick) and washi tape with 2 photo corners.
Scrapping 4 fun challenges & 4 crafty chicks
Over at Scrapping4fun challenges they want us to add stripes.
I'm currently using up scraps to make small gift cards.
Here's one featuring stripes and fussy cut fish which 4 crafty chicks asked for.
My card measures 8cmx10cm.

Li'l red wagon
I saw this card on Donna West's site and it reminded me about my dottariffic pens.
The challenge at Li'l red wagon is to ink the background.
This is my take on the challenge, which isn't as nice as Donna's card but at least I joined in the fun!
Happy birthday Stuck?! sketches
This is the first sketch for September at Stuck?! and it is also their birthday/anniversary.
Happy birthday to all at Stuck?! sketches.
In Amsterdam we spent a day at the Rijkmuseum and Van Gogh galleries.
It was wonderful to see so many cases of the "Real thing" after looking at art in books for years.
Walking towards the Van Gogh museum I spied these trees.
There were people sitting under them.
I'd seen this before but where?......deja vu moment.
It is in a famous impressionists painting!!! Renoir!
I've chosen colours that reflect the painting for my layout and included the bicycle because it was Amsterdam...more bikes than people there.
There is a touch of silver toned inca gold that I applied through a Prima mask, also silver in the doiley.
This reflects a colour in the trees.
As a last minute thought, I added a painters palette charm I've had for over 10 years.
My title is on the flair. Translated it means "I love you" ,but in a non romantic way, more fraternal. That's how I feel about art.
The background cardstock is apricot, not pink and the enamel dots are a dark salmon colour.
3 cards using Counterfeit Kit /pile it on
One of the joys of entering pile it on challenges is that you can often make whatever inspires you.
This card was made at the crop day a couple of weeks ago when I used an odd shaped scrap of patterned paper by turning it into a feather.
I've used a fine point pen to draw on the details.
I'm entering it in the following challenges

Tuesday Throwdown - clean and simple
also on Pile it on of course.
Here are the other 2 cards I've made
A pretty layout
I've used the apricot tones on this layout.
It features swans swimming beside the river cruise boat.
The die cut said ladies this way and I couldn't resist using it as part of my heading.
I've fussy cut around the big corner flower and used a lace doiley for extra softness.
The felt/hessian heart I made myself and the washi tape has been pleated.
My smaller journaling tabs are from a set I've had for years...so pleased to pop those on here.
Here's a close up of the pleating and hessian heart.
I think that gold glittered leaf was from Lisa at CKC.

Octoberfest double
I've used this month's sketch from Scrapping everyday miracles for the left half of my double layouts.
and then I did a complimentary second page.
All items on both were in my Counterfeit Kit for September.
On this one I've used some October Afternoon flags which look a bit like the ones in the photo.
Who can spot a fox?
Then I've added the 2 together
