Making cards using my Christmas kit.

I have however made some cards using my Christmas kit.

CASology week 177

At CASology the theme is toys.
I was wondering what to do until this morning when I was punching some chipboard shapes out of their frame.

I was suddenly inspired! Can you guess?

I've drawn Mickey Mouse on this card, then coloured him in using a Zig pen and a gel pen.
The sentiment is a sticker.

Stuck?! December second sketch.

This is the 2nd December sketch at Stuck?!
My sister and family celebrated Christmas early this year as 2 of them will be away.
After dinner, Christopher had the classic "food coma" from eating too much.

I've used machine sewing, inking, masking with texture paste, flicks of mist, plus lots of layering.
Happy Christmas everyone!

Our Beautiful world

I've been going through Mum's sewing items and found many notions.
Included in this was a box of 99 safety pins.
It made me smile, because she always had a few in her handbag in case a hem came down.
I have memories of her whipping one out & putting our hem back in place until we returned home.

ABC Christmas challenges & Use your stuff

At ABC Christmas challenges it is Y for youngsters.
The little girl next door is 2, and has a favourite teddy bear.
I found this teddy on a card I was sent last year, so fussy cut around it and used it on my card.
I've added 3 rows of Washi tape plus a small sparkly star.
I hope she likes it!
I'm also entering this on Use your stuff where it is Christmas Themed

Freshly made sketches

At Freshly made sketches this is their sketch.
I've used a Kaisecraft stamp of a bird cage and a black card I made featuring an arrow.
The border scallops are Basic Grey.
I put my sentiment(s) under the 2 tags.

This card will be given to a friend's son who has just graduated from Uni. To me this card symbolises freedom.

Christmas project at Counterfeit Kits.

This post is a copy of one found on Counterfeit Kit Challenges.

My favourite part of Christmas is watching the transformation in the stores.
Suddenly there appears decorations, toys, paper, trees, food that doesn't normally inhabit the shelves.
Towards the end of November, I walked to my local store to take some photographs.
I managed to fit 3 on my layout.

But first the structure of it.

First, I fussy cut around the large flowers on 2 of the papers, one red and one green.
I tore the plain red paper to 11x11 and placed it diagonally on the plain lime green background

The torn edge provides contrast.
Next, I used foam tape and adhered the flower sections in the bottom left hand corner.
This gave it depth.
Feel free to pop small pieces under the petals as needed.

Next, I positioned 2 photos then glued my diagonal heading.
TIP : Use a clear ruler to position accurately

With  a space left, I used one of my frames to put a smaller photo in that top corner.
Lay it over before you adhere and cut away the excess.
 and finally my layout

Mystical,4 crafty chicks and Stick it down.

Firstly here is the sketch at Stick it down.
I've used this sketch plus the requirements of Non Traditional colours at 4 crafty chicks and use the colours blue, silver and white at Mystical scrapbooks.
I began by misting the background in turquoise.
Next I used a Kaisercraft mask and texture paste to do the 2 triangles.

I used 2 strips of washi tape either side of the texture paste.
Then I fussy cut the silver butterflies and added the heart.

Ruby's Rainbow

With the silly season upon us I'm managing to tidy up my craft room.
I recently had some shelves built
This means I've unearthed items bought and forgotten about.
In amongst that category were some Graphic 45 papers that "were too good to use".
I've decided to use them :)
At Ruby's rainbow the challenge is a Get Well card.
The background plus butterflies are from "Old curiosity shop" collection and the daisy is from "Secret Garden " collection.

Show us your stuff

I've turned the sketch from Show us your stuff on its side

I've used some handmade paper out of cat fur and recycled newspaper.
I'll bet that you don't get another layout with that on!!!
I've also used a Funky Flair cog button and a felt flower that I made.

Here's my layout celebrating the alignment of the pyramid at the Louvre.
I had just read the Da Vinci code before my European trip.

Bird card at Merry Monday

I saw this earlier in the week and thought that I didn't have any birds.
I was wrong, there was one in a pack of Kaisercraft "Lady Rose" Collectables.

I've chosen a more sophisticated palette for this one, Maroon and copper colouring.

Stuck?! on Bloody Bridge

No I am not swearing.
My layout is about a bridge.
Bloody Bridge derives its name from an overseer who was murdered and walled-up in the stone work of the bridge by rebellious prisoners who were later buried outside the cemetery boundary in a communal grave.
If you want to read and see more follow this link
http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM6G5F_Bloody_Bridge_near_Kingston_Norfolk_Island

For my layout I chose neutral browns with a touch of red for the blood.
My alphas were from a Christmas pack but they work on this layout.
The inked arrows refer to the convicts clothes.
Convict uniform, 1830-49

So you've had an education as well as looking at my layout. (Typical teacher!)

And don't forget to join in the challenge at Archiscraps where the criteria is BLING.

Natalie and Amy,Ruby's rainbow & Mixed Media challenge

Here's a Christmas card for Natalie & Amy.
I've used the lime paint & stamped baubles again plus a copper frame and gold sentiment.
I'm also entering this on Ruby's rainbow where the challenge is Christmas with a metallic twist. The copper frame qualifies me.

And while I have the stamps out.............
I've made this card for Mixed Media card challenge
The twist is to use vellum.

I started with Kaisercraft mist in gold.
Next, I stamped the Christmas tree.
Rhinestones were added along with a yellow vellum leaf turned upside down to resemble a light glow.
In the centre I've used a gold geotag for the bulb and a rhinestone in the centre.
Add my sentiment and the card is complete.

Sweet stampin' Challenges

The challenge at Sweet stampin' challenges is to use stars.
I've incorporated 5 white felt stars on to this card.
My Christmas card stall is tomorrow night. Hopefully I will sell a few.

and here are 2 small cards I've made totally from scraps.

Paintin' and stampin' more cards!!

This morning I found packaging from craft items.
First I painted it with lime green.
Then I stamped it with a Kaisercraft Christmas bauble stamp.

Here are some cards I made using them.
There will be more to come.

And here's a card using spots that I made for Crafty Boots
