A Mystical layout

One of the challenges at Mystical Scrapbooking's cybercrop is to use texture paste and paint.
I've chosen yellow, which resulted in a rich creamy colour.
Using tags & labels from my recent trip to Norfolk Island I've created a page.

The mask is Prima from the Finnabair range.

CSI #164

This challenge at CSI inspired me and I was able to use some items from my Counterfeit Kit.
 Firstly, the background paper is Ruby Rock-it The summerhouse.
Next there is also the washi tape used for framing the car shape, the book paper, the polkadot word cut from a 6x6 paper and the strip along the bottom cut from a Basic Grey paper.
I've also used 2 of the chipboard ticket shaped ACT's I made last month.

and please note my unusual use of clouds at the back of the car...couldn't resist that!

This layout was a "flight of fancy" for me and I really enjoyed making it.

Rochelle Spears challenges

I've combined the sketch challenge and Kelly's colour challenge
Here is the link http://rochellespears.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/may-tic-tac-toe-scrappy-friends.html

My photos are of Mandraki Harbour in Rhodes Greece and nothing to do with flowers.
I've used all the required elements otherwise.

I'm also pleased to have used quite a bit from my Counterfeit Kit, including some variegated embroidery cotton. (I'm on a secret mission to use it all up.)
It has gone from a shirt-box full to about 11 skeins. I'm making progress.

Challenge #2 A school based layout.

Challenge #2

Back to School.  You can either take it literally and do a school based project OR you can find a fun online class (youtube still has 2 peas classes for free) that inspires this project.

As a former school teacher I still have many photos from my teaching years. I've decided to combine 2 across the page to make  a layout about a yearly event. "Peddlar's Parade" involved each child bringing a tray of items to sell.
They could be toys, food, novelties etc. Each class sat in a certain area of their playground and other children came and bought items.
Here's my layout.

I've managed to use a paper bag, book pages, a 6x6 alpha sheet, and those chipboard people, which I inked to match the layout.

City crafter Challenge blog Week #260

This is the colour palette at City Crafter Challenge blog. It is in my colours, blues & greens!

I took inspiration from the crochet lace tablecloth and added a paper doiley, the spiral staircase prompted my chipboard flourishes. The suitcases reminded me of my travels, so I chose a photo of TARA in Ireland....a very evocative place.

From my Counterfeit Kit I have used the green cardstock, skeleton leaf, chipboard corners, bingo cards and 2 tiny pegs.

Mojo Monday #396

Here is Mojo Monday's sketch.
I try to get these done whenever I can and this one was handy for using smaller items .
First the paper is the other half of the sheet I used for the last card.
The orange squares are stickers from last month's Counterfeit Kit.
The other items are in my Counterfeit Kit, including the button.

Challenge #1 Roll the dice

At CKC the first challenge is from rolling the dice and getting this combo.

Make a card using something to do with fashion and include bling.

Last year when attending the Gundy Spectacular scrapbooking weekend we exchanged tags.
This one was made by KIM KENDALL and included sewing notions.
It was in my Magpie box.

I made a card using one of the spotty papers as it was white on the reverse side.
Using the tag, which includes "Made with love" on it,I added 3 clear bling butterflies.

Sewing is a vital part of fashion so I think I'm justified.

The winner and Show us your stuff

And the winner of my 2000 post giveaway is ......

I will be posting it soon.

Now over at Show us your stuff here's the sketch. I loved this one.

Using my Counterfeit Kit and a very old paper from AMM named Herbanella, I have constructed this layout.

I have used 3 of those handmade flowers from Scrappers Garden, and kept with the colours of green, apricot, beige and red to match my photo.
My journaling reads Wasn't I the fashionista? Greek peasant top, A-line skirt and platform soled shoes. Hey it was the 1970s....the decade fashion forgot!

At http://stuckonusketches.blogspot.com.au/ the challenge is to use die cuts for Mothers Day.

I've been busy and used Kaisercraft die cuts on 3 cards.

All of the die cuts are from the same range.......Charlotte's Dream.

Scrapping Outback and Scrap our stash

The challenge at Scrapping Outback is to use all the colours in this photo plus one piece of chipboard.

Searching through my Counterfeit Kit I have come up with this paper full of questions plus a red chevron sweets bag.
It had me thinking of all kinds of ideas but I went looking for a photo and found one of me at 29.
We had just moved to the country and were happily married.

My WOW peacock chipboard deserved special treatment.
I misted it first, then embossed the body only. Rhinestones in a jade green were placed around his tail and head.
The blue circle paper behind it went so well with the curls on his plumage.

I hand sewed ribbon and 2 lots of lace along the side.
One was gathered on a fine ribbon and adhered at either end with green brads as well.
The red ribbon bows add to the feminine look on this.
I also hand stitched an oval around the title.

All the criteria are there for Scrapping Outback's photo.

After completing this, I realised it will also qualify for Scrap our Stash where we are asked to use the letters from the word EMBOSS.
E= embossing
M=mists
B=brads,bag (lolly),bingo card
O=oval stitched
S=scalloped border tag
S=stitching.

Little Red Wagon and a twins "shaped" card

Here's 2 cards I've made while waiting for the rain to stop.
The first is for Little Red Wagon. The topic is anything with the letter B

I've chosen boots.
As my daughter's favourite colours are purple and black, I thought this could be for her.

Next is a shaped card for a set of twins.
The mittens made it more girly but the pram is blue so it covers all eventualities.

International Scrapbooking Day

Happy International Scrapbooking DAY!

I've a technique to share with you using my canvas resist items from my magpie kit.

First place them flat and brush or spray lightly with water.
Next open up the top of a glimmer mist in your chosen colour.
With a paintbrush and a little colour paint over the shapes.

You will notice that the white outlines appear through the colours.

The next step is to use a second colour on some areas only.
Because of the water they will blend where they meet. (variations of similar colours eg blue/aqua/purple are best, but I only have limited sprays)
At this point, I misted over them with clear mist to give extra sparkle.

When your shapes are dry use liquid pearls over the white areas to highlight further.( eg birds eyes, flower centre etc.)
I found paper towel underneath helped them dry faster.
These will be used on this  layout.

May Counterfeit Kit.

This is the kit we are asked to counterfeit this month.
It was the very first ever Counterfeit Kit that we copied and we are visiting it again..

There is also Jenni Bowlin April 2015 Magpie Box

                                                    **************************
And my interpretation of it all.
My kit will be named Vintage Magpie.

It describes me and the kit well.

My papers include 3 dotty ones from Lawn Fawn and 3from Basic Grey Nook and Pantry

Next a video of my embellishments.
I hope you "foreigners" can understand my accent.

I've also added some last minute items that will be useful:-
Bingo cards from Kaisercraft Miss match

Heart shaped paper garlands from American Crafts Flutterbys range

And my Magpie box consisting of canvas shapes, antique laces, a few cut out shapes and 3 die cuts.
I also have some old white & crystal buttons that I forgot to photograph here.
                                                   ***************************
Now to the blog hop.
