Scrap that song

This is my D.T. layout for January on Scrap that song.I've used a range of papers by My Minds eye called "Quite Contrary" plus flowers from Scrap'n'bits and the rose from Lincraft. The chipboard is Collections elements which I've inked using my old friend, Mr Pinecone!I loved this range of papers and ephemera to match.
Why not check out the blog from tomorrow where you can scrap any Nursery Rhyme. Here is the link http://scrapthatsong.blogspot.com/

Get picky with shoes

I made this layout using a strip of photos of my daughter's favourite shoes. They are black suede with diamentes on them.I used Scrapmatts chipboard shoes plus "Red hot sparkles" by papermania. These were glued over the red paint.Always think red/white and navy makes a good colour combo.

Show us your stuff (2)

The second challenge for Show us your stuff was blue and white with a touch of red. These 4 photos of famous pubs in Edinburgh fitted the criteria nicely.I've used a floral paper plus white mat.The lettering is Ruby Rocket. I've added just a thin strip of red ribbon plus 2 triangular buttons and a journalling block from Martha Stewart.

White with one

My entry for white with one this month features the Christmas papers range from Kaisercraft called December 25th and Be Merry.I misted lightly down the sides with English Ivy.I cut scalloped edge using a row from Glee then added a mat featuring Joy and Chirpy. The yellow flower row plus heralding angels are stickers.I finished it off with a journalling tag from December 25th. Beth is one of the entertainment ladies at our local nursing home. She is heaps of fun providing laughs for the residents.

Show us your stuff...first sketch.

During our trip around Tasmania a few years ago we visited Hobart town at Richmond. It has miniature buildings. On this layout I've used Papers by Mustard moon,Hot off the Press and Karen Foster as well as lettering called Lullaby from American crafts. The embroidered badges are from Kaisercraft's Dear Santa collection and even though this layout isn't cHristmas, the green and tan match.I finished with 3 salmon pink buttons which match both background papers.Hope you like it!

Carol Singing at Kraft it up

I started by using Candy Apple red mist over a Scrapmatts tree 3 times on the left hand side.To these I added green rhinestones.I then matted my photo using 2 different papers plus sheet music.I've added a strip of holly plus scrapmatts holly chipboard on the corners and the original misted tree to the right hand corner.

Venice Peachy at A2Z scraplets

I used A2z scraplets star banner .First I painted it with peach paint, then I ran it through "Swiss Dots" on the cuttlebug. Then I wiped it over with black paint, immediately removing most of it. This left a 2-toned effect. It became the strip across the middle of this layout.I chose 3 photos of Venice,2 of which feature the peach coloured buildings seen so commonly there.I matted using spotted papers that co-ordinated.Later afdding 2 strips of edging and flowers plus Francheville "Passionate" brads.

Ausssie scrapjacked

During our visit to Rhodes we went to a high hill where there was an old monastery. As I am scared of heights I wasn't keen to climb these stairs as there are no rails.
I've chosen Bec's layout to copy this month. The flags are edged in black as the background paper is white. The calico fabric contains the word souls, which was appropriate!I folded the yellow paper then pleated it horizontally. It was difficult to tell if Bec used fabric or paper there. This particular Thickers are stretchy and difficult to place nicely, especially the M's.

Artastic and FS2S

The criteria for Artastic this month was a snowman,a cHristmas tree and the word cHristmas. I made my snowman from 2 lace doileys cutting out the centre of the second one for the head. His nose is one V of ricrac. The remainder of the embellishments are from kaisercraft. This was Christmas 2005 when we went to a restaurant for Christmas lunch.

The criteria for From Screen to scrap was white cardstock,a 2 colour title and Christmas hats.
My photo was taken on the same day as the first layout featuring my nephew Nathan with his new baby daughter, Annabelle. Both he and Jonathan are wearing Christmas hats. The journalling is inside the fancy envelope at the bottom.

Lollipop ladies

I made this lacy card using 2 segments of lace with ricrac edging. They were cut from an old sleeve. This gives the tree a padded look.
I then used gold star brads to attach scrapmatts chipboard decorations and the word "timeless" to finish off the card.

Gummy smiles at scrap the girls

These photos are from Erica at about 3 months.I loved that gummy smile! I've used chipboard letters painted pink and trimmed with tiny flowers and a rub on to make the brown swirl in the top right corner plus 2 kaisercraft papers and a sunflower. The original sketch was from pagemaps I think.

December stuck?! sketch at Bicheno blowhole

I was subtle with the banner effect choosing to use green embroidery cotton for the trails with stars as my highlights.I've also misted to the edges of the pictures to resemble water spray from the blowhole.
We visited this about 10 years ago on a car trip around Tasmania.

December 1 2 3 layout

The layout for December features the word "make", the colour Marigold and something you made yourself. With this layout I used Marigold spotted paper, plus cream paper I put through the cuttlebug then inked lightly with orange to make patterns and the title is Making a melody.(Hope making is close enough to make). Melody is the baby's name in the photo. The lacy trim was cut from a dress found at the op shop.

Scrapmatts 12 days of Christmas challenge

Scrapmatts is having a "12 days of Christmas challenge". We would like you to join in!Choose one of the 12 days as in the song and scrap that. You can interpret it however you like so long as you use scrapmatts chipboard.
As part of their design team I chose to do 5 gold rings.I photographed 5 of the family rings then wound ribbon around scrapmatts circles. After arranging these on the page I tied 2 together with a soft ribbon bow.

1 2 3 challenge

The challenge for November on 123 was to use the word please, grey and stamping with /on something different.
I printed the lines down the sides of this layout using the prongs of a plastic fork dipped in pink paint. It is quite effective don't you think?
There are several different grey papers which I layered under the photo. The cat was at Rhodes Greece when we were on holiday. It was sitting under a cafe table and gazing up asking to be fed.The pink shells are from scrapmatts

Scrapmatting around.

My car is in for a service today so I've been playing.
I made these 3 Christmas decorations using Scrapmatts 3D bells and rhinestones.

Stuck with Cordial

Stuck?! sketches 2nd sketch for the month was a great inspiration for my last layout from Broken Hill photos. These cordials were in the front window of Bells old fashioned ice cream parlour. The light shining through them made them look particularly enticing.I've used scrapmatts Kitchenware as my embellishments plus some buttons and ricrac.I like the leatherette thickers letters with this as well.

Wednesday, 23 November 2011

Here's 2 more layouts that I've done recently. The left hand one is using scrapmatts Laugh word.

The muscles of steel one features A2Z scraplets cogs, which I misted in bronze. The yellow frame goes right around the edge, the scanner cut it off.

One for fun

This one features me at Tasmania's Mt Wellington.I've cut around the scrolly flowers and doodled the branches for the flowers. The word "Trip" is from scrapmatts and painted black. It was a cold windy day but a great view.

A very frustrated blogger!

My life is in a whirl.
This computer seems to be dying which means I can't access websites or even the internet for days on end. This means that layouts I usually do I can't upload or even worse even see the challenges in the first place. My D.T commitments I'm keeping up with but luckily I've been able to use the computer on those days.I've switched it on/off 5 times this morning to get this far.
Please bear with me and in the meantime support Scrapthatsong and Scrapmatts however you can. They're both great sites.

Dolls getting picky

Get picky this time required a layout using fabric.Mine has a flower made from lace and felt.It also required the colours pink, red, lime, yellow and turquoise.
While I believe in documenting the good times I also think it is important to scrap those little things that make us unique. In this case Erica is really freaked out by dolls. She hates going into rooms where there are collections such as are shown in these photos. It has been with her since babyhood...she never liked dolls...and still applies as an adult.

White with one and red!

This layout started with the wonderful photo of Erica and Jacob and the Prima corsage flower.I liked it too much to pull the green ribbon off it!
You can't get much more bright than red so went with that for my colour.I used bird printed paper,a tag featuring red stripes to which I added journalling words in both clear plastic and stickers and red & white ribbon.I added 2 scrapmatts doves touching beaks, another tag with their names, stapled ribbon to the side of the layout and a curled up tear at the bottom left revealing the number 2.I'm really happy with this layout.

Show us your stuff

Now I've uploaded Google chrome I can finally access Show us your stuff again.Hooray! This months challenge was using blanket stitch which I have done under the photo mat.The sketch was a great one and allowed for using up leftover scraps..the best kind of sketch.I've added some pretty butterflies and a quote which suits my sewing friend.

Another Christmas layout featuring scrapmatts

I'm uploading this one while I can.My computer works nicely sometimes and not others. This one has misting over scrapmatts flowers and a misted chipboard reindeer as well as the already green holly. In real life it is straight...I measured it.Hope you like it!
It will also appear on scrapthatsong.

Stuck?! sketches

Here's my entry for the first stuck?! sketch for November.I've misted through a BG lettering for the background then used courrugated card painted white for the bracket on the left.I used scrapmatts chipboard ornaments and doodled on the red pp with matching swirls in the corners. The cloth badge is my title..."We wish you a merry Christmas".

Kraft it up

Journalling around the face reads..."When we visited Pro Hart's gallery at Broken hill we were told that he had trouble drawing faces. This is why he painted "Tin men".He was such a talented artist and a great ambassador for Australia. His gallery was well worth the visit"
I kept the actual layout very simple to not detract from the journalling.Just a few dabs of yellow paint.

A 70s take on FS2S.

Every year during the late 70's and all the 1980s my parents would go camping at Easts beach. The whole family would go there in various groupings depending on what was happening with work etc.In this case my fiance brought my nephew there, wearing his new school uniform to show Nanna and Pa how smart he looked as he was starting school soon afterwards and was so excited.
I've used a mixture of white alphas for the title plus some vellum I have kept for 10 years(just shows..it did come in handy!)plus some patterned paper to suit the era.The lined Adorn it-Caroleees creation paper was useful to write the journalling on as it was quite a long explanation.

Aussie scrapjacked

Dana's layout called "free ride" inspired me this month. The elements are all there except I only had one peg so I used a paperclip. And my Dymo tape is too wide so I used some Bella accent words cut from a transparency.I painted the tag on the left hand side by using a lace doiley and dabbing through it.The butterfly is punched.

Scrap the boys

Christopher is a mad Parramatta supporter even though he is only 8.He was showing us how well he can kick.Of course he's wearing his Parramatta hat.I wanted to use all 5 photos on this plus the colours of blue and yellow. The blue border goes around all 4 sides, the scanner cut it off.

Scrap the girls

I saw this SEI "Groovy Gal" paper and knew it would be ideal for this layout. Scrap the girls has asked for multiple photos and polkadots.
There are spots on both the specialty papers as well as the journalling tag.I think the prima pearl florish also highlights the spotted effect. As Annabelle was wearing orange in these photos I tried to combine the pink with a touch of orange. She cettainly had a busy day last Christmas and seemed to be popping up everywhere. These were 3 photos I managed to catch.

More cards

Here's 4 more cards I've made using up leftovers.
The first has a scrapmatts sleigh inked gold plus a Dear Santa tag from Kaisercraft,The second has an owl sprayed with glimmermist sewn on and bling for eyes, the third has a kaisercraft wooden sleigh and the last 3 cut out Christmas trees.
Not only have I made cards this year,I have almost written them already so they are nearly ready to post! I like getting in early.

meeting Melinda and Chris

Here's Melinda and Chris from Scrapbooking'n'craft.I met them (again) yesterday at the papercrafts festival.and the second photo is me with Melinda.I had a great afternoon shopping and being inspired.

Bird is the Word wish

This photo typifies the word wish...blowing out candles on her birthday cake.I used lace and fabric for the background.Misted a doiley then cut it to shape for an umbrella.I made a flower from narrow ribbon and a button, added an old fashioned picture, plus a negative from punched flowers and there you have it.

Christmas cards and a banner

I've been busy preparing for Christmas by making a banner using scrapmatts chipboard shapes. They are stapled on to coloured ribbon which I tied along the curtain rail.
I've also made my first 3 Christmas cards using scrapmatts and kaisercraft shapes plus in one case kaisercraft clear stamps.

Another mysterious parcel arrives

I have received today a parcel of scrapbooking goodies from Michelle Hernandez of Brooklyn New York! If you read this Michelle can you explain what I won or if any one else knows what site she is on, please tell me. There was no note enclosed saying what the prize is for. However I much appreciate all those lovely goodies.

A2Z scraplets

My layout for A2Z scraplets features a frame which has a pine tree and 2009.This was the year we went to Europe and I immediately remembered this ride through a forest in Killarney,Ireland. It was so much fun!
I've used a bella paper, inked the frame white and embossed the tree after inking it green.I've added all the required elements in colours to match the photos. The tag on top left was Kraft that has been misted with red and the journalling strips are flocked.A very tactile layout!

Purple people together at bird is the word

Bird is the word requested the word "Together". I made this layout using a template and pink misting. Then I added rub-ons to look like Graffiti on the wall. The chipboard was made specially for our purplescraps retreat by 'scrapbooking'n'craft .I added the word together because we only get together for a retreat every 2 years. There were 4 of us this time, in Broken Hill.

Wednesday, 19 October 2011

Aussie scrapjacked

I made this layout to emulate mandy's ballet one. I used pompons instead of roses and made my middle ribbon different to the other two. Otherwise everything is the same. The big heart button is actually bright orange..silly scanner!

Stuck Sketches Oct 15th

On my recent trip to Broken Hill we visited Marios and saw the Palace hotel murals featured in "Priscilla, queen of the desert" movie.I took several photos which will no doubt appear in my future layouts but these 2 murals suited this stuck sketch.I've cut the doorway(which was plain brown) out of the top photo to let the tree on the patterned paper shine through. The aboriginal painting was on the underside of the stairs.I didn't use too much embellishment as these photos feature a very busy detail. The title was rather long so it stretches across the top of the page as well.

Black with 2

Here's a photo of my grandparents,Mum and my sister and I in 1958.Marilyn Monroe was just becoming famous at this point in time so I used a picture of her from a birthday card I had. Also I used frilly lace, another remnant of the 1950s and tape measure ribbon as Mum was a dressmaker and kept up with the latest trends. The embellies on the right hand side allude to her dressmaking during that era as well.

Stuck?! sketch and others

This first layout is for Stuck?! sketches. It features 2 photos of hot air balloons seen over the lake in Canberra one Sunday morning.I cut the 2nd photo to make 2 small squares just with the balloons.I sewed the circles using the machine and added ribbons,a scalloped edge and Kaisercraft brads. The chipboard balloons are from scrapmatts and the small lettering is from jenni bowlin studio.
This second layout is one I did during the month of September for SFS.I've used a scrapmatts dress mannequin around which i've woven lace and flowers.Love the colours in this one.

Artastic's spooky houses

These 2 houses we saw in Broken Hill are real "Handyman specials".In fact the bottom one needs demolition. They both had a creepy feel to me..if you imagine who might live in them.I used black and purple to evoke a spooky effect. The purple BG paper is called Eerie. There is a chipboard tree so I've answered the criteria.

Distressed love at Scrap the girls

Scrap the Girls required the word Love and distressing.
I used some Kraft over which I glued dress pattern paper with mod podge. Then I let this dry and painted it with white acrylic.I followed this by using a spot stencil with bright pink paint, slightly worn off. This gave me the distressed background.I added crochet lace, buttons, tags and brads that all co-ordinate with the background. Finally the lettering is thickers Lullaby in pale pink.My top right photo is straight although the Eiffel tower looks "distressed"(leaning).I took this photo from a moving bus.Erica is at the bottom of the tower in the other photo.

cheeky parrots at mystical

I've just created this layout for mystical scrapbooks spring challenge cybercrop. These noisy rainbow lorikeets sit in the tree outside my window and chatter.
I used pink paislee "Spring fling" collection, plus D-lish scraps flower and ribbon and string. Chipboard doves are from Scrapmatts and come in that colour(off white) ie raw. I have not coloured them in any way.Lettering is from Emagination sticker letters.

Scrap the boys and lose the bookmarks

I've just updated to Google chrome. I can now see who my followers are (hello all!) but have lost my bookmarked favourites.(Or if they're there I can't find them)
I've spent this morning re-looking for a lot of sites.Luckily I write down the challenge sites I visit.
Progress!!!!
This is my layout for scrap the boys this month where the embellishments had to be handmade.I made a library pocket from scratch from a template i had. I lined it with different paper to the outside then added other bits like buttons and brads.I also cut out the 2 hearts from "Rusty pickle" scraps. This will pick up the red in the photo. The title is cut from an Urban Lily scrap I have had for years. My last addition was some kaisercraft droplets.
