Whimsical Musings #299

I used this sketch from Paper Issues to construct a layout for Whimsical musings #299 which is be inspired by passports.
I had a tale to tell, as 2 years ago I lost my passport just before travelling.

I used a Bella cardstock featuring tickets as my background then a co-ordinating (to the photo) paper from last month's Counterfeit kit.
Instead of arrows I used planes and kept to the aqua tones for the rest.

Jingle Belles & Merry Christmas challenge

At Jingle Belles there is a sketch

I used red check background then 2 polkadot papers on my card.
There is a strip of reindeers galloping across the bottom too.

I'm also entering this on the Merry Christmas challenge

Using up 8x8 papers

I've had this HOTP 8x8 pad with die cuts for years.
I decided to use it up as I had already finished my Counterfeit kit and I'm going overseas on Monday.

I managed to make 5 cards and still have a couple more sheets of the red check.
Here they are!
At Water cooler Wednesday they want masculine cards.
I think any of these would qualify except maybe the red check with roses on it.
I'm entering this suite of cards on there.

Unstampabelles

The challenge at Unstampabelles is to emboss plus make a card for a male.

I've used plain vellum and put it through the cuttlebug to emboss it.
The sentiment is one of those strips you cut off the bottom of scrapbooking paper.
I added a blue star rhinestone as a finishing touch.

Feeling sketchy

Here is the sketch at Feeling sketchy #199

I have an 8x8 pad from hot off the press named home grown, so I have used it to make this card.
It just says best wishes so it could be for birthday or get well etc.

613 creates & addicted to CAS

At 613 creates they have an anything goes challenge with a twist of magical or fantasy.

I have used 3 FWAB toadstools and the word wish on my card to add a fantasy theme and the green background has been dry embossed.

I can see a fairy under those toadstools, can you? Ha ha.

At Addicted to CAS they want a masculine card.
I've made a PA card for Fathers Day, keeping it simple and clean

Last page for this month.

I had the orange paisley paper from MME left in this month's kit.  It worried me because it was so busy.
Then I found a sketch on facebook that meant I could partly cover it up plus use up some scraps.

I had to start a new pack of alphas, you can imagine why!
I managed to get the souveneir ticket on this layout plus a few embellishments.
The orange border strip went well here too.
Here's the sketch I used.

Challenge #1 Put it on an angle.

Our first challenge at Counterfeit kits is to put it on an angle.

I started with a wood look paper from Bella.
Next I layered a strip of gold stripes with some 8x8 paper I had in my kit.
I adhered my 2 photos then added a border strip below the photos.
One of the reasons I did it this way was to use the chipboard letters that I found.
They matched well to the background and the spotted pattern on the orange paper.
The big title is the feature(other than the photos.)

Did you notice my cluster on the right hand side?
They surround my journaling.

The cork V shaped border trim was a short piece I had left but it was perfect on this.

Let's get sketchy

Here's the sketch at Let's get sketchy.
Great I thought because I get to use up strips of paper that I keep for cards, layouts etc.
This used up all the oranges, golds, and cream tones.

These are articles from famous musicians, Roy Orbison's guitar, ELVIS's suit and John Lennon's piano that he wrote Imagine on.

It even included a quote which fits my theme. "I will be by your side in high tide and low tide".
I'd like to think those dead musicians are watching over me.
Challenge #2 at Counterfeit Kit Challenge is to use Mixed alphas as strangely enough I ran out of M.
All papers on here are from this month's kit.

August Jump start challenge

The scrap room has this August Jump start challenge.
I used 2 Prima papers from my Counterfeit kit plus some smaller scraps I had as edging. The oval was from a set of frames, also in my kit and the alphas match.
My 2 photos are of a horse that lives next door to my cousin. We were sitting outside and it came near us.(For company I think).

Challenge YOUrself challenge

I started by using the Dear Lizzy Wonderful Wrap from Polka dot party range.
I lightly misted through a chicken wire
Next I matted on Pebbles Loveseat which is pale pink.
This became the theme of pinks and blues.
I was inspired to use ribbons and made a rosette from already gathered ribbon.
Next I added the 2 resin birds and some Heidi swap bow stickers. My journalling was done on a tag which was covered with a transparency that says Hello.
I added some extra journaling which says Mother and Daughter, so much alike.

My blogger is doing weird things with the fonts hence the size changes, sorry.

Water cooler Wednesday & sugar pea designs

At Watercooler Wednesday  it is anything goes female.

I've made a card using washi tape and a fussy cut picture with a pale pink polkadot background.
My niece turns 13 soon, so I will use this for her birthday card.

********************************************************************************

Next card is for Sugar Pea designs.
I've incorporated both the sketch and the pattern/colour.

CAS(e) this sketch

Here's another sketch for a card, this time it is Case this sketch.

I'm still on Christmas cards this afternoon, so here's my effort. The grey strip across the centre is actually white and sparkly paper. It matches the glittery snowflakes.

Lil red wagon

Li'l red wagon wants us to choose a sketch then make a card from that sketch.

I used to love Mojo Monday sketches so I have chosen this one.

Mojo 463 Sketch

My card is using the colours red and green mainly plus a piece of ribbon that has a slight gold thread through it.

3 Amigos & 4 crafty chicks card challenge.

At 3 Amigos card challenge  they ask us to go back and do one of the previous challenges.

I flicked through until I came to a food challenge in February.

I'm starting on Christmas cards and had this paper featuring gingerbread men.
I've simply cut it to size and adhered my sentiment.

****************************************************************************

At 4 crafty chicks they want music.
I used music as my background on this Christmas card.
The little trees are stickers and there is tree washi tape down the left hand side :)

Forgeries on the 4th.

I hadn't added any forgeries to my kit for the reveal on 1st but was inspired today when I remembered I owned a bee stamp.

Using yellow striped paper I have added a stamped bee to the corner of each pocket card.
Also searching I found 2 others that resemble those in the kit.
Finally, I made a tag by adding a sticker then blowing yellow paint through a straw, which provided an interesting background.
Consider these add ons to my kit.

Scrap room Freaky fast formula.

Here's the Freaky Fast formula at the Scrap Room for August.
I like doing these because it enables me to use smaller pieces from my kit.
I started by misting the background of the plain orange paper "Old king Cole" collection from Piggy Tales.
The other papers were cut from the Peachy keen range from Kaisercraft, except the floral which is a scrap I had.
I added a chipboard ampersand and a circular paper clip plus 2 smaller co-ordinating tags.
Finally, I added a strip of washi tape along the bottom.

Fluid intake

I was stumped for an idea to use the 6x6 pages so I looked at my fellow Master Forgers.
Susan had a solution!

I'm not scraplifting it exactly, but using some of her ideas.

I started by adhering the 4 papers. The photo and lace doiley top left are the same idea.
The yellow stitching goes right around the edge and secures the 4 squares together.

From there, I branched out and made it my own.
The title arose because I was using up alphas.
The touch of copper behind the tag bottom right added a certain sparkle.
2 blue nylon flowers are re purposed from a coathanger I recently threw out. I think Mum might have made them.

August Counterfeit Kit.

The counterfeit kit for August is Cocoa Daisy "Twinkling of the tea" kit.

It features lovely shades of yellows, greens and oranges with some woodgrain.

Pocket Kit:    https://www.cocoadaisy.com/product/july-2018-memory-keeping-pocket-kit-twinkling-of-the-tea/

As I'm heading overseas on 20th August ,I have made a small kit and have gone slightly "rogue".

Presenting my kit "TAN TEA" (not the tantrum kind as in tanty)

I starting by finding the woodgrain and the bright oranges.

Doing that, I realised I have several tan coloured Prima papers, among others ,which are too nice to leave on the shelf.

The 3 Prima papers are-
Prima "Whisper collection" Enlightened
Prima "Urban Cosmos" Village
Prima {You}th "Deep red"

So, I decided to make a kit based around the tan tones.
I also found a 6x6 pad which has oranges, peach and a dusty blue. These co-ordinate with the tans.

The paisley paper here is from "My Mind's Eye" Just Dreamy, Paisley pop.

Similarities to the original kit are woodgrains, oranges, black alphas, spotted ribbon, flowers,  embellishments.
I noticed black paperclips but didn't have any, so I substituted these.

I've also added some hessian flowers, flairs and cork geotags from Studio Calico

It is still autumnal but more deeper than the original. Looking forward to the challenge of this kit.

Now here's the order of the blog hop.
