Merry Monday

At Merry Monday the challenge is to Create a Christmas card with Candles and Flowers.
I started with a pretty Christmas paper featuring holly that I have.
Next I fussy cut pointsettias from another sheet of paper.
The 3 candles are actually chipboard fenceposts from a set I had.

I inked the stem of them with a gold shimmery ink I own but it hasn't shown up very well.

The flames are done with inca gold paste.

As I was positioning them on the card they, of course, landed face down.

 This left smears of inca gold, but I will call it glow from the candles shall I?

I glued 3 gold stars and my sentiment and there you have it.

Colour Q #296 and Freshly made sketches

These are the colours to use at the latest Colour Q challenge.
In my stash I found some old pictures from a Sara Book kit, that I hadn't used.
3 of them are of old style items, so I've made a card for my Aunt,who will turn 96 this year.
She might remember some of these I'm sure.
A strip of yellow ribbon down the right hand side adds a splash of colour.

 

Next is Freshly Made sketches.

 

 

I'm making long thin cards at present, as I was given some card scraps that are only 8cm wide when folded. On this card, I thought the bright pink butterfly looked cheerful.

 

Retro Sketches #170 and Case this sketch #129

I really liked this sketch from Retro Sketches

I went purple with this one. It is a colour I seldom use.
The background paper is purple and white check.
My sentiment says with love, it is a bit hard to read on this photo.

Next I made a card for Case this sketch #129


Still using purple, I framed the background with purple spotted washi tape, then used Heidi Swapp stick on hearts with a sentiment I've had for ages. I think it was American Crafts.

Seize the birthday.

I'm using only neutrals of grey, black, white and cream on this card as requested by
Seize the Birthday. This is a birthday card, the idea being the sender can write the person's birthday in the space saying DATE.

I've also used a sketch from Cardabilities as the basis of my design.

Mojo Monday #403

I'm sitting here with a bad head cold ,in the middle of winter, making cards.
There are lots of random things lying on my desk including a Lulu and Roy 6x6 papers pad.
I've used that, plus a bow with charm that I had, to make this card for Mojo Monday.
It wasn't on the sketch but it softens the card and adds something.

Let's get Arty (shabby)

I love layering on cards but don't often do it.
I went overboard with this one for Let's get arty.
1. The very back paper has been pinecone inked around the edges.

2.Next I used an ombre paper that you can hardly see.

3.The cream one with writing is actually a packet from skeleton leaves I cut to fit (too pretty to waste).

4.Then came a paper doiley which I lightly dabbed with walnut ink.I tucked a smaller piece in the top right hand corner.

5.Next was a lemon skeleton leaf.

6.My tag was originally white, so I walnut inked around it as well. The flowers and bird are from a Kaisercraft range.

7.The ribbon bow was a final inspiration.

Use your stuff, Cards 4 Guyz and shopping your stash

I was pleased to have my last card reach top 3 on Use your stuff last week.
This week's theme is wood, so I've made a 70th birthday card using Studio Calico wooden numbers plus a patterned paper that looks like wood grain.
I'm also entering this on Cards for Guys where we are asked to use a die or punch.
The gold sparkly heart has been punched.
And at shopping your stash we are asked to make a card "For the boys" so I will enter it there as well.

Shopping our stash

Over at Shopping our stash, the challenge is "For the boys".
I've made a card for a mother to give her son.

The tab was straight but moved in the scanner.
I've used Kaisercraft's Lulu and Roy collection.

Stuck part 2 for June and Use your stuff

I've used Stuck sketch part 2 for this layout and also will enter it on Use your stuff where the theme is colour me happy.
Yellow and orange are both happy colours and this horse and cart ride was fun all the way.
The 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed it!

I've used Basic Grey Nook and pantry paper (yellow floral) with an ombre paper from EK success as my central strip. The "Let the fun begin" was from an American Crafts "Cheerful Notes" paper and the orange backed quote under the photos is from Little Yellow Bicycle.
The smaller quote from another strip of paper (forgotten the brand).
I think I've covered every brand of paper known on this layout!
The chipboard circles I painted are Bazzil chips.

Merry Monday #163

Merry Monday

I've stepped up the Christmas cards in preparation for a "Christmas in July" night coming up.
For this card I've used several layers of red & white papers plus some ribbon and a sparkly red tree.
Doesn't need a sentiment, it is obvious which season it is for.

Jingle Belles

At Jingle Belles we are asked to create a card using cardstock and no patterned paper.

My card has some Kraft card with black swirls printed on it as my background, then green corrugated card and a die cut Christmas tree with red brads.
I've finished up with a washi tape strip featuring my greeting.
It is festive!

Color Throwdown #347 and Mojo Monday

In my Counterfeit Kit were some flower die cuts.I put them in there to use them up.
This challenge at Color Throwdown meant that I could use 3 flowers plus a butterfly.
After finding the strip of paper featuring grey, I assembled the card, then stamped my sentiment.
Very tropical I think.

I've used clouds instead of circles and washi tape as my strips. I like this design and may file it away for future use.

Sketch 'n'scrap twistback challenge.

Well, here it is, my last piece of patterned paper from my Counterfeit Kit.

The colour couldn't have been better for the theme I've chosen.
There's other stuff on this layout too that I'm pleased to be using:-the washi tapes, the 2 tags, the yellow lettering, even 3 strips from scraps!

Next, at Li'l Red wagon the theme is farms. I've still got a set of die cuts from a Kaisercraft range featuring farms ,so I used 5 of them on this birthday card.

I can imagine someone sending this to a farmer on land in the country.

 

 

The background paper came from a 6x6 pad in my kit too.

 

D-lish scraps-The Scrap Suite

I've made this layout for a sketch challenge on a facebook group.
The sketch looks like this

 

and here is my interpretation using the 2nd last piece of patterned paper in my kit, a diagonal striped vellum.

I was pleased to also use buttons, punched hearts, atlas paper, chipboard tabs and finish a packet of alphas.

Color Throwdown

Here are the requirements at Color Throwdown this week.

I've chosen to use another of the Chinese paper cuts that were given to me by a friend. It contains the required colours except for Kraft. I've used a Kraft card as my background colour.
My card does not have a sentiment as I'm using this one to write a note to a friend.

I've kept it simple to highlight the paper cut out.

Tuesday Taggers

Over at Tuesday Taggers the theme is watches and clocks.
Here is a tag I made using a mask and misting, then I added the appropriate accompaniments.

Challenge #2 Transportation

While we were on Norfolk Island we were lucky enough to watch a ship unload.
As the seas are too rough for a ship to come into port, lighters or barges are used.

Cars, buses refrigerators, food etc are all unloaded this way.

My layout shows two photos of this happening. The first is the ship with lighters and the second is the goods stacked on the wharf.
My journaling says basically what I have just described.

Keen followers will know where the hessian came from.
I also used some twine and a diagonal hatched card to give it a wharf feel.

Artistic Inspirations challenge

In my Counterfeit Kit was a paper featuring striped sections of various shades of blue.
And at Artistic inspirations challenge blog the challenge is layers.

This gives me the opportunity to use some of those bits and pieces from the kit.

I've used on here:- the last of the turquoise cardstock, half a doiley, a patterned paper half doiley scrap I had, a diamond brad, two chipboard tabs that match the background paper and my sentiment is from the Alaska kit that I worked through last year.
That's 7 layers including the rhinestone.

And if you are wondering why I've done so much scrapping over the last few days, I've been getting a new pergola built.
This meant that I had to be home for 5 days straight while it was constructed.

Use your stuff and Seize the birthday

At Use your stuff this week they want sentiments as the focus.

 

 

It is straight in reality. It tilted in the scanner

 

And at Seize the birthday the theme is animals.

A few years ago a friend visited China and brought me back some hand- cut paper pictures.

They are on tissue paper and very fragile.

I decided to use the bull on this card.

 

 

 

Scrap our Stash

Here is the challenge.
My interpretation was the following
B=Basic Grey paper, butterflies, burlap, buttons, bee

R=ricrac, ripping the paper

A=atlas page, angled photo

D=die cuts, doiley,

S=striped paper, spots, sewing (photo on to hessian)

and this is the final layout. I've adjusted the ric rac which should have been straight.

And here is a pocket page I made for my Norfolk Island brochures using another paper from my Counterfeit Kit plus the cardboard from an old manilla folder.
I'm not worried about the fold line along the middle as it is purely a place to store my brochures etc.

Challenge #1 Die cut shapes and through the craftroom door.

This card has been made for a special lady.
 She is my friend's Mum and turns 86 on Saturday.
Her name is June, like the month she was born in.
I've used the punched heart flower that I showed in an earlier post, plus items from this month's Counterfeit Kit.
The liquid craft glue squished out from behind the smaller punched aqua flower, so I've used lots of bling to cover it up. I think it adds some impact for the card.

 

I've entered it at Through the Craftroom door where anything goes.

At Let's get sketchy here is the sketch



 and here is my take on it.

My photos are bigger and therefore not staggered.
I wanted to use that journaling tag rather than strips.
Otherwise it is pretty much to the sketch.

I'm pleased to have used the other Dear Lizzy fabric flower and 2 from Scrappers Garden.
I've also put on the dragonfly and butterfly brads plus a punched arrow.
