Twisted Tuesdays challenge blog

http://twistedtuesdaychallenges.blogspot.com.au/

The current challenge asks us to
THE CHALLENGE

Show us something crafty that is new to you either received or bought

THE TWIST

Make the theme of your creation something new or the beginning of something (baby, car, house, marriage, beginning of a race, etc)

I've chosen a new set of stickers by Echo Park that I received recently in the post as a prize, I think.

You can see where the one I've used has come from.
Here's the card

I've used Prima background paper that looks like a doiley.
I then added my sticker celebrating a baby girl, plus a tiny pink heart sticker.
There is a strip of vellum down the LHS which was embossed on the cuttlebug.I've added a pink brad as a final touch.

Making your own Christmas wrapping

My sister's gift this Christmas is a rather large box picture frame which the store kindly wrapped in brown paper.
Before I unwrapped it to re-wrap I thought "Why not just decorate that paper?"
So out came my Kaisercraft stamps and some black ink.

I simply stamped all over the brown paper parcel.
I chose the holly & berries and the bauble stamps but others would work just as well.
Here's the finished gift.
The ribbon is wired so it stands up from the parcel.

I'm sure my sister will appreciate that I designed her wrapping myself.
This post is for Counterfeit Kit Challenge so why not hop over there and check out the daily Christmas ideas.

Counterfeit Kit Flip a sketch and inspired blueprints

At Counterfeit Kit we were asked to flip a sketch.
Not do it back to front, but use a layout challenge for a card or vice versa.
Here is inspired blueprints sketch

and here is the card I've made using that sketch.

This card will be for my cousin Patricia for her birthday.

Shopping our stash & monochrome

Shopping our stash's weekly challenge runs for a fortnight this time.
Their current challenge is monochromatic.
Now it just so happens that I made a card using up some hessian (see November 1st post for Counterfeit kit.)
The card is all in browns/cream so it will qualify for this.
I glued the hessian on to the card & made it as straight as I could, but being hessian it isn't perfect.

Hiding in my craft room

November 27th I made a card for Color throwdown which looks like this

On Hiding in my craft room we are asked to revisit our own work and create something similar.
I've made another card using the same design
The background card is a very busy Kaisercraft paper, featuring Christmas images.
I've used corrugated card, gold washi tape, another 7 gypsies thank you,the same ribbon and instead of a button there is a red star brad.
This will be a Christmas thank you card.

Case this sketch #58

There is nothing more annoying than rub-ons that just won't co-operate!
My card started quite well with a seasons greetings Christmas bauble and the tiny Christmas flowers on the red strip.
I found 3 rubons in a row that said Merry Christmas so thought I'd put them straight on the card.
Bad idea. The red Merry went haywire, sticking to itself etc.
The next one down reads mcrry, but I'm still entering it because it took much work before that happened. Lucky that red star brad was on hand!

Reindeer bags

I've made these today for my sister's grandkids.
Very simple idea and very cheap. The 3 bags were $1 for all 3 at a local Bargain store.
I drew one antlers and traced around it x3 for these.
Used brads I already had.
The alpha tags were $1 each at a local craft store. Total cost, less than $5.

Seize the birthday

The challenge at Seize the Birthday is anything goes.

I'd like to reveal a male card I made this morning using scraps.
The chess game picture is from an old picture dictionary.
The paper and ribbon are offcuts from layouts.
Only the lettering was new.

Into my card box this one goes ready for 2014.

Silhouette

When I was a little girl one of the main attractions at the carnivals and shows was a silhouette artist.
Our parents had these silhouettes done. Ever since I started scrapbooking,I've been meaning to do a layout using them.
 Finally I've done it.
Erica, my daughter found them when she was about 8 and wrote Mummy on the front of one so that is another piece of history I'm preserving here.

Teresa Collins Mini Album

I had the set of Teresa Collins Far and Away papers.
I've decided to use them to make a mini album for my friend for Christmas.
I've left spaces so that she can journal or put photos in it.

I started with a blank tag album from Francheville.

Here are the other pages in order
She went on a hot air balloon ride.

And on a 4WS safari ride.
The unexpected guest was a Cheeta on the bonnet of the jeep!

and finally the back cover with a map of Australia on it.

And here it is tied with red ribbon ready to give her,

Shabby Tea room

The challenge at the shabby tea room is red & white, plus gingham or gingerbread.
I've made a gift card using a recycled photo from a layout I "demolished."

This Christmas trumpeter is too cute to waste.
I've used gingham ribbon too. The card measures 10cm x 8cm

Feeling Sketchy #76

Here's the sketch at Feeling Sketchy and here's my card, which is paper tole.
The pudding has 2 layers and the pointsettia has 3.
I tried threading twine behind it but it just doesn't look right.

Color me scrappy

The subject is food.

I've had this Memory Maze frame for a while and it has been staring at me asking to be used!

I started by painting it white then misted with turquoise & red.
This left coffee colour, pale greyish blue and maroon.
I've used a maroon frame & Chevron circle background from a previous months Counterfeit Kit.

To embellish, I've used a doiley half from Charms creations and a flair button and bottle cap from D-Lish scraps.
I misted over a canvas flower shape and found a couple of pictures mentioning coffee from a Sara book kit.
Can you spot a Prima flower packaging top?

Life paper scrapbook

My interpretation of this sketch is based on a song, in fact for my ex husband and I it was ''our song."
I recently uncovered these 2 old photos of him and as they are old "Instamatics" the size was perfect.
I've used the song name and music sheet to link it back.

Of course with the alphas there were no E left so I've written it.

Seize the birthday.

Seize the birthday has the challenge of winter this time.

I didn't have any snowmen etc but did have this snowflake paper.

Searching through my stash I found some pictures that I cut from an old picture dictionary, so thought I'd use them.
The first card is featuring a bear in the snow and the second a seal.

Christmas Door Hanger

I've used a Kaiser wooden hanger but you could use cardboard for this.
You could also vary the shape to suit your needs.
I will let the pictures do the talking.........

Don't forget to sand around the edges to make your cutting edges smoother.

So for around 15 minutes of fun, you can have your own door hanger.
Maybe you could do one with your child's name to help Santa find them and hang it on their bedroom door.

Have fun
Julene

Unscripted sketches #235

Sketch_235
Here is the Unscripted sketches design #235
I've gone pink and blingy with this card.
It is a small 12cm x9.5cm so somewhere between a gift card and card.
The bird cage was actually on some patterned paper .
So, I very carefully engineered to cut around it.
The Bella bling was a final touch to make it look special.
