Sugar Creek Hollow
I followed Mary Bennets to this site as she is in my blog feed.
Sugar Creek Hollow is for both cards and layouts.
This present theme is "It is time for a new challenge here at Sugar Creek Hollow and this time it is called ON THE ROAD. We want to see vintage or shabby chic projects depicting vintage travel since it is vacation time in most places. Please make sure that any focal image you use is vintage."
I had the perfect photo, so made this very streamlined layout about my grandfather 's first car. It was a 1928 Chevrolet.
The original photo was blurry so this is the best I can do for clarity.
Here's a photo of one in reality.
Believe it or not he drove it right up to 1961.So I can just remember it as a tiny child.
In my layout I have used metallic brads, a clip saying "memories" and 3 metal photo corners.
They grey/brown combo went with the sepia photo.

The orange envelopes...........and starting the marathon.
I've been watching the Commonwealth games and enjoying mostly the swimming and the marathon.
I have to admire the runners perseverance.
Yesterday I was at a local Op shop when I spotted these.
and inside there was orange envelopes.
Now I haven't counted but I guess there are around 200 per box.
So,................I bought the lot!
At $3 a box you can't go wrong!
Many of the cards I make I sell for charity so I will use them..........eventually.
(I can see my daughter shaking her head as she reads this :)
So begins my marathon.
Last night while watching the swimming I made these 5 cards and used up some scraps, my orange mini alphas and gold washi tape.
That is 5 down and approx. 995 to go.

Mojo Monday #356
Another week and another Mojo Monday sketch. This time for a tall and skinny card.
I'm putting the sketch last as my editing software wants to underline everything this morning.
Here is my card
I was thinking Birthday card but it could also be for a graduation, exam pass or even anniversary.
My card is 3.5 x 5.5 inches.

Another freaking scrapping challenge.....Achievement
For the other scrapping challenge at Another Freaking Scrapping Challenge we are asked to tell about an achievement.
I have received many awards over the years for all sorts of reasons, but this is one of my best achievements.
After giving birth to my daughter I discovered that I had Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I suffered much pain and was bedridden for several weeks.
Being me, the optimist, I turned a negative into a positive.
My specialist put me in touch with the Arthritis Foundation.
I discovered my local city, Goulburn, didn't have a branch.
So, with the help of the local chemist, I set up a branch and became the foundation secretary.
We were inducted by the mayor and this photo was published in both the local paper and the Arthritis news.
The man in the right of the photo is the Premier of NSW at the time, who congratulated me.
I remained secretary for 2 years and saw the meetings grow from a handful to over 100 members.
My layout is reasonably simple because like always, I focus on the photo.
The black flourish work behind the photo is a large stamp.
The word committee is on a transparency with a brad hanger.
There is also some doodling joining the flowers.
I still suffer with my arthritis and make cards as well as layouts.
I sell the cards and raise money for research.

Another Freaking Scrapping Challenge
On our way around Vancouver we came across the public library.
As a librarian I often look at the boring buildings used to house libraries and wonder why they can't build something more appealing.
Then I saw this!
My library ideal building. It is shaped like the colosseum and spirals inside. It is fantastic.
(oh how I'd love to work there!) Is my enthusiasm obvious yet?
That is me in the left hand photo.
Another Freaking Scrappy challenge asks us to use this sketch
This suited my photos of the building.
I've used a page of Bella Boulevarde "sand and surf" paper with arrows pointing every which way (like I was in the library) and co-ordinating lettering for my title.
The border strips are from Heidi Swapp and the ticket and glasses are from MME.

This week our card needs to include an animal and of course ,be mainly pink.
Can you see the tiny hippopotamus?

Color me scrappy #66
The current challenge at Color me Scrappy involved a palette of colours plus you have to include food.
When I was in Vancouver Stephanie took us to Granville Island where they have fresh produce markets.
The food was amazing, so fresh and lovely.
I took this photo of the berries and cherries there . They were enormous!
Here's my layout named Yummy !! and Documented.

Butterfly spot challenge
By blog hopping I have discovered another card challenge site
BUTTERFLY SPOT CHALLENGE
Now this makes me happy because I collected up butterfly pictures, die cuts and stamps when I used to do Flutterby Wednesday (now defunct)
The current challenge at Butterfly spot is to use stripes and spots.
My jigsaw piece was sent to me as part of a prize. The chipboard butterfly was inked in black and the sentiment is 7 gypsies.
One cannot ever say Thank You enough.

613 Avenue Create
Yesterday I noticed 2 hyacynths that have sprung up in my garden.
The plants were given to Mum about 5 years ago.
She said take them home & put them in your garden.
As it is 2 years since she died, I often think about her and felt a connection when I saw the plants.
Anyway with her in mind, I have made a card for someone to give their mother.
I've used vellum and 3 different co-ordinating papers plus 2 chipboard buttons on this card.
I'm entering it on 613 Avenue Create and Crafty Hazelnuts

Artful times and a tropical tag
Another blog in My favourites that I often look at, but seldom get time to compete, is ARTFUL TIMES
This time they have asked us to make a tag.
I had one sticker left from my Bella Boulevarde kit.
It says under the coconuts.
I have been inspired to go tropical.
First I inked a buff tag yellow. Next I misted using Sugar maple through a Prima mask.
On went the sticker plus a cloud stamp and the word, PALM.
I still have photos to scrap from my recent beach holiday so this will be definitely used.

Paper secrets and Scrap and Play
The challenge at Paper secrets and Scrap and Play for 15th July is to use this sketch
as well as use items that start with the letters in TRAVEL.
I've chosen T ickets, R ibbon, A ll my memories paper,Vellum, E K success paper and Leaves.
While we were away in Canada we rode the Rocky Mountaineer train along the Frazer River.
The rapids were wild! From the train we saw 4 kayak riders on these rapids.
It is worthy of a layout.

Off the rails scrapbooking
This palette was perfect for me.
My daughter is being bridesmaid for a friend soon and the colour scheme is red and aqua.
Erica, being a costume designer, has made fascinators and embellished the shoes for the wedding.
I saw her on Tuesday and admired her handiwork.
My layout started with an aqua paper from Kaisercraft Hummingbird range featuring a cut out section with a deer and branches..
I lightly misted over that.
I matted it on a cream background paper.
I have also used a Flourish with a Bling swirl.
Next I painted flowers to match and found some Prima tiny flowers which co-ordinated.
I've used 2x 6x6 photos for this so you can see the details.
The MME Chalk chevron arrow united the left and right hand side.
At the bottom is a quote "be happy for this moment, this moment is your life."

Show us your stuff
The colour palette reminds me so much of Canada so I just had to scrap these photos.
They were taken on the Icefields Parkway at a place named Honeymoon Lake.
(No I wasn't on my honeymoon just travelling with a friend.) Just look at that reflection.
I have used rolling around a skewer to create a scroll for my photos. I even left the skewer in the bottom roll.
The misting was through a negative chipboard of snowflakes, originally from Scrapmatts.
I constructed the tag myself using those strips that you get along the bottom of patterned papers, there are 3 on that. The flairs were sent to me as a prize and could be hand made for all I know.
My title is at the bottom of the scroll...A little bit of heaven right here on Earth....and it was!

Cas(e) this sketch #86 again.
I liked the sketch enough to make a second card for case this sketch #86.
My great neice is having a birthday soon, so she will receive this card.
Cas(e) this sketch #86
I like doing the sketches at Cas(e) this sketch and this one is no exception.
I must be channelling my mother this morning as her favourite colour was blue.
I've used a left over cloud sticker from Bella Boulevarde, a shiny pale blue paper, vellum and a ribbon.
All these are from my Counterfeit Kit this month.
The main feature is a bottlecap from D-Lish scraps featuring the Eiffel Tower.
I've added a few pearls for extra decoration.
A soft card which I think most mothers would love.
And while I was packing away from that card, I realised I could make another one.
Here it is. I'm giving it to a little girl for her birthday next week.

Counterfeit Kit blog hop for July
It has been a short scrapping month for me having only arrived home from Canada and Alaska on the 7th.
However I've jumped right into my CK and am enjoying it.
Our Challenge #3 is to make a Frame card.
I started with some old inks that are almost worn out plus pink cardstock.
The stencil was in a throw out bin at Spotlight.(I always check those)
I selected the crimson and formed my border.
Next is this set of stamps from my July kit. I'm intending to create my own butterfly paper.
I chose the swirly stamp on the rhs.
Here is how it looks on the inner card.
Next I lightly wiped the paler pink inkpad over the stamped image to provide a link to the background.(Unfortunately it looks better IRL, on here it just looks smudges.
I have also used some pink pearls to make the card a bit more special.
Now to the order of the blog hop.

Shopping our stash with fruit and dots
I have had the chipboard kiwi fruit and blueberries for a few years and are grateful to finally find a use for them.
Here it is
Sketch 'n'scrap layout finished Counterfeit Kit
While uploading the two previous cards I noticed there was a layout sketch at Sketch 'n' scrap.
Looking at what was left of my Counterfeit kit, I decided I could squeeze out another layout.
I started with a blue paper featuring a lace edged blue. Over that I misted with turquoise (barely visible).
Next, I traced the circle and faux stitched it.
The assembly began, and I realised the sketch works better this way.

There were over 1000 islands we flew over, so I used numbers as the strips across.
I've actually used 2 items I bought from Michaels craft store in Vancouver on here, the Canada word and the chipboard float plane.
Sketch'n'scrap card challenge July (2)
Here is the second card challenge at Sketch 'n' scrap for July.
The card I have made is based on this sketch but I am also entering it in Use your stuff where the topic is layers. There are 4 layers on the centre of the card counting the sentiment.
