Unscripted challenges #199

I've used for this card,my remains of Kaisercraft Konstruct range. It is a men's card either to keep in touch or for a birthday etc.I flipped the original Unscripted sketches by 180 degrees so that it looked like this.

Feeling Sketchy #48

Here is the sketch for Feeling Sketchy this week.

sketch #48 team jessica
And here are my 2 layouts. Why don't you join in?
The link is as follows. http://feeling-sketchy.blogspot.com.au/ and Stamping up are providing a prize. It can be a card or a layout.Join in the fun!

Flutterby Wednesday

This card was made for Flutterby Wednesday this week.
The central part is actually a pocket into which can be placed a gift card or a secret message. It is for this reason I turned the original sketch on its side. The mini lettering, pearl bling and 2 tones of ribbon add a nice touch, don't you think?
In my mind it could be a baby card, but I guess it can be for anything you wish really.

Another freakin' scrapping challenge

Here's the sketch

I took this one quite literally as I have a slightly gothy daughter who likes to dress up.On this occasion they were off to the Blue Moon Festival at Newtown NSW where all the goth's get together for theatre, street parade, stalls etc.She made her outfit herself including the cute top hat.

For the layout,I downloaded some wings from a site  on to grey paper and fussy cut around them.

The Scrapmatts chipboard dress mannequin was distress inked with black soot.I put the date inside a Woodstock black and white collection transparency frame. The letters under the photo mats are left over from Christmas and as they're gothic I used them to surround the photo.Maroon is Jacob's favourite colour and Erica's is black of course.
and a close up of some detail

I've always had a passion for history and enjoyed talking about what happened in past lives & past centuries.I've done my family trees and studied history at school and Uni.
I read historical novels and enjoy watching "period" dramas and movies.I'm fascinated with antiques.

Counterfeit Kit packaging re-use

Here's the packaging for a packet of papers I bought recently.I cut out the following items

And used the set of small squares on this layout. I've also used the red trim at the bottom on a previous layout on here.

This used up not only 4 photos, but 4 strips of pp plus the background paper, two bicycle items, and some rubons I had.

Counterfeit kit scarf challenge.

First here is my favourite scarf.I photographed it on my gold blanket so the colours stand out.
It is silk hand dyed in stripes with a brown marbling overlay.I didn't iron it cause I love the crinkled look of it.
For my layout I first gathered up scraps of papers in colours featured in the scarf.Mainly pinks and greens with a touch of dark aqua/turquoise.
The background paper was lime green/pink floral.(see on the right of this picture).
I arranged these scraps in layers to form an overlapping mat for the photo of a waratah.
After taping & stapling them in place,I put my title across and outlined in black.

Then I found a branch shaped chippy and misted over it on the layout in 2 different places . I then adhered the same branch to the layout.
The end result,to me,looks like the scarf.
I hope you like this,it is a bit experimental!

Casino at From Screen to Scrap

The theme this month at From Screen 2 scrap was Casino Jack.
Here's my interpretation
I've used monopoly money and a joker playing card(the other 2 requirements) plus a label from Kaisercraft "Shaken not stirred" collection-think James Bond/Monte Carlo etc. Also a favourite quote of my daughter. It seemed to go with this bus trip we were on in 1974.Wrest Point Casino was an icon back then!
I matted the extra large photo on tickets to represent bets/tickets/gambling.
Alphas are Cosmo Cricket "Ready set chip"

Brights at Frosted Designs

The challenge was Brights at Frosted Designs this month.
I bought this orange paper by Sandy Lion on sale wondering if I'd ever use it.As it turns out it was ideal for this challenge. I've also used a clothing tag I've had in my stash for maybe 10 years. So I'm feeling rather chuffed that these both fitted with this layout.

Seize the Birthday card challenge #6

I've just discovered a new card site with sketch challenges named Seize the Birthday. Here is this week's sketch Here is my interpretation of it.Can you guess what a friends son just got for his 21st Birthday? This is also from my Counterfeit Kit using Echo park "Family man"

Case this sketch #15

Case this sketch had a rather simple sketch this week featuring detail in the bottom right hand corner plus a row of stitching. For my card I've used strips of paper in blues, mainly with a touch of olive green. Then I've added an olive green and white jounalling block,a chipboard flower and the word enjoy. Finally there's a rub on herringbone stitching above the label. This could be a Bon Voyage card/birthday/whatever really.

Do more with less & Stuck on you sketches

a>The challenge was to make a project using printed material. This was on a site named Do more with less. I traced around Grace Taylor flowers then cut them out. I then misted the flowers using more printed paper as my background. This left the negative shapes. The background piece became my base paper for the card. I then collected different sized misted flowers together and using the smallest size Grace Taylor flowers, fastened them all together with a brad. The flowers were then adhered to the card. And finally I fluffed them up around the edges to make them more 3D.The sentiment says All about you. Stuck on you sketches I've used a remaining flower with chipboard flower centre, background text paper and rub ons. The sentiment is one I've had for a while and the background ribbon and paper are from my counterfeit kit.

Counterfeit Kit and Memory maze first post.

Here is a layout I have made using more of my counterfeit KIt,a sketch from Mystical Scrapbooks and my new Memory Maze Chipboard. http://memorymaze.com.au/ I had paper with aeroplanes on it, so wanted something with that theme. These were 2 photos of our landing in Cook Islands last year.We flew in over the mountains,so was bumpy and sudden. I've inked the circle, word adventure using blue distress ink and the balloon I did in silver ink as a contrast. The buttons are vintage from my mother's collection. The washi tape went with the aircraft theme of measuring distances etc.

Feeling sketchy's new sketch today

Here's my card for feeling sketchy this week. There is a marvelous Stamping up prize shown here
You will agree it is worth winning. So get stuck in! You only have a week.

Purple pumpkin grins

The sketch challenge at Purple Pumpkin looks like this
The layout on the forum of a cheeky grin reminded me of Jonathan's new braces. I've made this layout about him getting his braces using a variety of embellishments. The washi tape was originally from Purple Pumpkin I think. I've also used papers etc from my Counterfeit Kit.
One of the words on the background paper was space ,which is what his braces are creating in his mouth!

Splashing at Artastic

This layout started with the corrugated card. I inked around it and made it the mat behind the photo mat. Then I added things around it/under it.There are 5 layers in some cases on here. I stamped curlicues using blue ink to resemble waves, then the blue rubons (below the picture and above saying splash)added more detail. The luggage tag was semi immersed in walnut ink then the pearls were threaded through.I've also used washi tape and a mini envelope where the journalling will go. I've used some of my Counterfeit kit items on here but this layout is for Artastic.

Use your stuff-Red pink and 1 other

This layout was for Use your stuff Red,pink and in my case, maroon. Initially, it was made to use up ribbons since my scrap cupboard is oozing ribbons and laces.I looked on Use your stuff's website and discovered it fitted the criteria. The background paper came like that.I've used odd alphas, ribbon, crochet edging from a child's top,rub-ons,flowers,and 2 random paper embellishments. It was one of those "use your stash" challenges for me.

Counterfeit Kit speech bubbles

I've been doing a cybercrop challenge at Mystical Scrapbooks this weekend. There is still time if you want to join in. One of the challenges was using arrows,so I combined it with Counterfeit Kits speech bubble challenge. Years ago when I first met my husband we went on these paddle boats. They were very awkward to steer and for a while we just went around in circles. It became hilarious because the more we tried the more we went wrong.Anyway, here's my layout.
I had fun with this one and stamped using blue ink instead of black...a first for me!

case this sketch #14

I've made this card for case this sketch # 14 using Kaisercraft "Magnolia grove" journalling block.I've added ricrac, circle and heart shapes then rubon butterflies.
Love is blue and muted sometimes too.

Counterfeit Kit using Sassy Scrappers sketch

The following layout was based on a sassy scrappers sketch here
and Counterfeit Kit had a tutorial about hexagons. I hate making hexagons as I don't have a template etc,so I've used a chicken wire mask with gesso. It is a good choice with these Echo Park papers as they're quite busy in patterns. It is also a male layout,so I didn't want anything too flowery or feminine. I've added some of the stickers that came in the pack as my embellishments/title and finally some chevron washi tape. Nathan is a family man and would do anything for his 3 kids.

Kraft it up with Picasso

I walked past my daughter's table whilst visiting her. There was a frame she was painting and the background newspaper said Picasso.I thought how typical of her outlook to have something artistic there. Here's my layout.
Using Tim Holtz newsprint Kraft, I first misted using tan and turquoise through chicken wire mask. Then I added chevrons with gesso. The next layer was a sticker backing from a set of alphas (squares) to follow the frame idea. This is then reflected in the metallic frame (stick on),the larger title frame ,also stick-on some epoxy clear square brads and rock epoxy shaped circles. The cat sticker helped to break up the large chevron area.

Child's play challenge

Here at Child's play we have a challenge based on childhood items. This one was the book "Harold and the Purple crayon". My layout features a purple crayon pathway with lots of things that Harold might have imagined.
Go and see what the DT have come up with, then enter the challenge. The more the merrier. p.s. For some reason my link won't work but google "Childs play challenges " and you'll find it.
