A scrapbooking lesson.

I won a scrapbooking lesson at a nearby scrapbooking store. So I'm going to do it this morning. As I've been scrapping for over 8 years,in fact closer to 9,I haven't been to a lesson in quite a while. The topic is little doll(girls page).I have taken about 10 photos of Annabelle,so I have some choices.
At Purplescraps on 14th May I'm running a blind scrap. The ATC/weekly page challenge is still going there, which is useful since I have lots of scraps to use.It has been a learning curve as Julie has made us go outside the square a few times.

News and Enchanted's scrapping.

I'm pleased to report my daughter has found somewhere to live, just in the nick of time.
Over at Enchanted Scrapbooking there is a cybercrop this weekend.I've completed 3 of the 4 challenges. One was to redo an old layout and I came up with the above one.It was originally pink/white gingham.Erica was about a week old here and had just had her bath.

Handmade by Suzanne

I've just been investigating a new shop/site called Handmade by Suzanne. They have some amazing new stock including my favourites Basic Grey and October afternoon.I feel a little spending coming on.They were sponsors at Stuck?! sketches and have also advertised on Purplescraps so I felt I had to check it out.
In other news I have completed the 3 layouts required for Mystical SCrapbooking's cybercrop and can now clear the deck for Enchanted's cybercrop this weekend.
Meanwhile I'm continually thinking about my daughter in Canberra, who is applying for several rental properties and hasn't heard anything yet.I do hope they find just what they need very soon. She has returned to study and money is tight so it would be nice to know they at least have a roof over their heads.

It has arrived

I was woken up this morning by the parcel man who needed my signature for a pizza box parcel.Straight away I knew it was my layout from Scrapbook Creations and the magazine in which I am published.Quickly I flicked through until I found it...lucky last in the whole magazine. It is such a satisfied feeling to see your work in print.I can't put the layout on here but if you buy scrapbook cReations it is on page123.There were also some lovely layouts from the Enchanted girls-Wendy,Lisa and Krissy.

My city of Sydney

Here's a layout I did based on a song, about my city-Sydney. It is for an entry on
These are a few of my favourite things blog.Hope they like it! I love living in Sydney and I'm always proud of it if I return from some holiday and fly over it.

Nature v's man.

At my parents house today, three huge gum trees were cut down. They were very tall and old.I can remember them all from my childhood. The white gum has been a local landmark almost.I'll upload some photos of it coming down. The first one shows the tree feller up in the branches, the second is one of the smaller trees actually falling...timbeeeeer!

What is old is new again-the 1950s.

This range of papers, also including October afternoon,is a WOIN kit. This is my entry for the April sketch challenge. I loved using this kit as it reminded me of our family home's original kitchen floor which had tiles in grey, black, yellow and red.Almost the same tones as this.My 3 great nephews and niece are very polite and always remember their manners.A rarity in this age!

October afternoon on Stuck sketches.

The sketch on Stuck?! Sketches I saved until nearly last this month.I knew I had this photo of the Eiffel tower and wanted to do it justice. These papers, ribbons and stickers etc were sent to me by Chrissy for winning a game on Mystical cybercrop.THey suited the photo exactly.
In other news I have accumulated enough stamps at my LSS to win a free class which I plan to do in the next couple of weeks.

A mystical surprise.

We had an inspirational challenge to use royal blue/coral red/maroon/brown and bone/duck egg blue combination. I'll never manage that I thought. I put the cardstocks together and found Basic Grey's "Figgy Pudding" paper and it works.
This cathedral in Milan was interesting but we didn't have time to look inside it.We sat staring at the outside for about 10 minutes in the bus.I've just researched nearly a year later and discovered all sorts of interesting things. When I win lotto I'll go back there.

Busy creating.

I've been busy creating layouts and socialising.Since most of my friends are teachers,we catch up on school holidays. The first layout, committee was for Kraft it up and needed to be monochromatic. The second was for Artastic and was based on a snowy village scene by Kinkaid.I dabbed paint then ink and used embossing powder on the mountains and clouds at the top to recreate the effect in the painting. It was fun playing with paints/inks to achieve that effect.

My favourite TV show

When we went to Universal studios in Los Angeles we met Lucy and Ethel outside a building featuring them.Luckily I asked someone to take this photo. I used bottle caps and buttons with the lettering on them for this layout, plus some chipboard(painted) and vintage pictures of Lucy.

Check out the Easter basket of goodies we won in a raffle at Mum's nursing home.Luckily we have a big family so it was divided up amongst us.
I've been good this Easter not having any chocolate eggs or hot cross buns until this arrived.

Happy Easter!

Easter time has rolled around again and I'm trying desperately to avoid chocolate eggs and hot cross buns, they are yummy though. Happy EAster to all my followers.
Yesterday I was inspired to do a layout without any challenges or sketches.I actually looked through some old scrapbooking magazines before donating them to the local library.I saw a layout called priceless which was a random photo of a child...somehow that inspired me to do this layout of Erica. We were sitting in a cafe in Pisa eating spaghetti(what else)? I looked up at her and realised the garden behind her formed an arc around her like a halo.So I called this layout ST Erica! (Like those medieval saints you see painted in churches).
