Craftaholics are us.

Craftaholics R Us want us to use gingham.
I looked for scraps of gingham paper and found 2 different greens.

I tried to make it look like a tablecloth and serviette. (with a flower hanging over the table perhaps.)
This went with my sentiment of EAT CAKE.

Freshly made sketches

Freshly made sketches has this sketch this week.

The ladies have excelled themselves with their examples.

Mine is a large card. I kept it plain so that it suits a variety of people and reasons.

Sweet sketch Wednesday and Use your stuff

I'm making male cards for the next little while to make sure my stocks are up to date for Father's day.
This is the sketch at Sweet sketch Wednesday.
It became a birthday card but that is ok too.

**********************************************************************************
At Use your stuff they ask us to use washi tape this week.

I had a floral scrap piece to use as my background then added black and an orange/ochre toned washi to complete my card.
It will be a general birthday card.

Cas(e) this sketch and 613 creates.

Here's the latest sketch for Cas(e) this sketch. and 613 Avenue creates wants blue.

I see a chance to use up some more of those end strips off scrapbooking papers!

I'm running short of thank you cards at the moment so I'm replenishing my stock.
I've used 3 strips on here plus some full stops from an old set of alphas.
They are RED METALLIC , not black as they appear on here.

I like this sketch and might make more in this design.
In fact here's a second one I've just made
(slightly different design but I like it just as much.)

Take 5 and 100 patterned paper challenges.

I'm combining 3 challenges in this layout.
100 patterned paper challenge has this sketch
Scrapping4fun wants dots and stripes. This layout features both. The dots are on the horizontal strip under the photos.

and the Take 5 at paper Issues wants this

I started with striped paper. Then I used pink and blue as my mats.
I've stitched across the top as in the sketch.
Next I added the 2 strips and 2 black chalkboard stickers.
On the chalkboard stickers I placed glittery sticker moths and on the bottom one a die cut place marker.
Finally I added a title and 3 black asterisks stickers.

So in summary I used pink, blue, stripes, die cuts and stickers.

Vivid occurs in Sydney each winter. All the buildings are lit up. Yesterday we went on a harbour cruise to see the lights.

Feeling Sketchy

This is the example we are asked to follow at Feeling Sketchy.
I try to join in their challenges when I can as I used to be on their design team.

I've chosen green for this birthday card. With the 3 gold stars at the top and "How many candles?" as my sentiment, I think it will be most suitable.

Challenge Yourself

Challenge Yourself  has a challenge based on this picture.

I thought gardens which led to birds and insects. After searching through my papers I found this velour one from MME named lush. The wild garden with bird reminded me of the photo.

Next I found a photo of me taken last year at Las Vegas in front of Secret Garden.
The colours were right, so I matted it on a few different green scraps then added a butterfly sticker top left  plus a FWAB jack vine in olive green to link the paper and the photo.
My flair says "This happened" and my title is LIVE.

I kept it fairly simple because of the paper.

Cardz4guyz and Seize the Birthday

This weeks challenge at Cardz4guyz is steampunk.

I had no cogs or machines but thought of a Victorian era traveller and made a collage card for Dad.
(Fathers Day)

There were a range of items from Kaisercraft on this.
The bottom right is a large sticker featuring luggage. The balloons across the top are part of a border.
The alphas are also stickers. I hope it qualifies!
********************************************
And at Seize the Birthday they ask for patterned paper.
I've used a neutral piece as my background, then added a strip of floral.

Paper Issues "What's up" challenge

Paper Issues says "We want you to place all of your goodies at the top 1/3 of your page. That means nothing on the bottom 2/3 of your page! You can do it and we can not wait to see!"

I chose a striped vertically paper then placed 2 papers across the top in co-ordinating blues.
I've used 3 stickers, the oval quote, the branch and LOVE. There is also a flair from Bramble Fox as well as a journaling card and a camera cut from another patterned paper. Simple and quick!

Crafty Hazelnuts patterned paper

Crafty Hazelnuts patterned paper challenge is always anything goes.

I've made a card for a 1 year old boy and this fits that.
This was totally made from scraps which I'm always pleased about.

Use your stuff

The challenge at Use your stuff is to use orange. (Tis the season for pumpkin.)
I've made this card using another picture from Graphic 45 and it will be an exam pass card.

The card looks crooked because the butterfly is at an odd angle. I measured it and it is straight.

Cute card Thursday

At Cute card Thursday the theme is the great outdoors.

They must have known I had some Graphic45 birds and flowers to use. :)
Here is a card made with a bird and a sentiment saying near nature.
What a good place to be!
I glued some tiny blue Prima flowers to make it look prettier.

4 crafty chicks & crafty friends

I've made a card using kit leftovers for 4 crafty chicks. The challenge there is to use buttons.

The 3 flowers are actually buckles but I left the centres in. You have to agree pink and brown go nicely together.

Next I have made a card for Crafty friends challenge where we are using the letter B.
My card features a Bone background and Balloons.
I'm thinking it could be either for a male or a bon voyage card.

Challenge #2 Trends

One of the current trends is using triangles on layouts. I have found these examples.

"Falling Leaves" layout by Tania Willis with "The Story of Fall" collection by #EchoParkPaper. Tania used designer embossing folders to add texture to the leaves on her layout!

Peace & Joy - Scrapbook.com - Triangles on a Christmas layout mimic the iconic Christmas tree. Made with the Simple Stories DIY Christmas collection.

I don't think I'm wanting to cut my photos into triangles.

Triangles | Scraptastic Club

If you look hard at your embellishments you will find triangles within stars, pennants, tags etc.

For my layout I decided to scraplift an example I saw online, and used what I had in my kit that was big enough.
My trick was to draw one triangle then trave around it on several other scraps of paper.
The example:

My layout:

I'd like to enter this in Lasting memories challenge which is to use more than one triangle.

Scrap our stash

There is a combine 2 sketches challenge at Scrap our stash.

I've taken the small pieces of vertical paper and the placement of 2 embellishments from the left and the 4squares, one photo and brackets plus embellishment placement and title area from the right.

There are 2 wood veneer birds on this. I chose them to match the small bird elements on the Graphic 45 paper.

Here is a close up of the RHS cluster

Brown sugar challenge and 2 crafty critter crazy

I've made this card for Brown sugar challenge where the theme is masculine or Father's day.
It is also for 2crafty critter crazy where you can feature any critter.

As my card features a chipboard tiger I'm thinking younger masculine, but I guess it could work either way.
I inked and used black gel pen to colour the tiger and mounted him on corrugated card inside a frame.

Daring Cardmakers

At Daring Cardmakers they have a bee themed challenge.
I found some yellow and white hexagonal paper to use as my background with tiny blue strips of other paper featuring bees in flight.
I then drew my bee on yellow cardstock and cut it out.
The sentiment was hand written.

100 patterned paper challenge

Here's a layout I've made to use up more kit items.
It features one background patterned paper plus vellum, a 6x6 paper cut in half,a journaling card cut in half and an oval journaling tag.
The black circle of faux stitching is done with a thicker felt tip.
Here's the original sketch and as you can see, I stuck to it pretty closely.

No automatic alt text available.

Freshly made sketches & Cute card Thursday

Here is the sketch for Freshly made sketches.
I've made a goodbye card for a man.
It features 2 layers of checks plus a wolf that I've had for years. The alphas are leather,so it is a very masculine card.

In contrast to that Cute card Thursday wants flowers.

I've used the last of the pink floral paper from my kit and added 5 rhinestone flowers.
My tag contrasts so that it can be seen clearly.

Let's get sketchy and paper issues

Let's get sketchy has this sketch

and they are also combining with Paper Issues this month.

I've used my last 2 whole pieces of patterned paper from my kit to document this beautiful tree that we saw in Hamilton Island. I've also use a lace doily (heart shaped) plus 3 tags and 2 die cut flowers.

Cardz4guyz

Cardz4guyz has a challenge named Men's hobbies.

I had these cameras on paper and thought they would make a great card. My sentiment says today so would work for Birthday or Fathers' Day or any special male occasion. The top camera is mounted on foam so it stands up from the card.

Little red Wagon

At Little Red Wagon they want paper piecing.

I researches some ideas on Pinterest and came up with this
My background is silver, so this could work for a wedding, birthday or any female occasion.

Home and scrapped

This is for the either/or challenge at Home and scrapped.
I used patterned paper, pink and hearts. It is my self depreciating humour-I couldn't resist having my photo taken under this sign in Las Vegas.

Everything on here except the photos is from my Counterfeit kit.

Wednesday 9 May 2018

Tuesday Morning sketches

Tuesday Morning sketches has this sketch

and I've used more kit items including vellum, ribbon, a chipboard flower, bling, and alphas on this card.

2 cards

I'm using smaller items from my Counterfeit kit on these 2 cards.
The first is for Shopping our stash where the theme is butterflies.

I've used a butterfly sticker that was in the kit plus ribbon scraps and one of the 6x6 papers.

The second card is for 100 paper stash and I've used pattern papers, a journal card,3 diecut hearts, embroidery thread and a sentiment.

More than words

More than words challenge has the above criteria.
I've scrapped using 2 frames, one I painted and the other is a gold frame from my Counterfeit kit.

I've used a photo of the sunset on Hamilton Island. My most favourite memory of that holiday.
I started by misting through a sunray mask then stamped memory and remember as my background.

While painting the frame, I also lightly added paint to the 2 doileys ,which are part of the layering.
I added flowers as another point of interest on the layout.

Saturday 5 May 2018

As you like it challenge.

For As you like it challenge I had a chipboard snake I wanted to
use so decided to find good qualities of snakes by looking at the
Chinese Horoscope.

Snake - Personality and Characteristics

Snake

Wise, Humorous, Brilliant

Snake is usually regarded as a dark, insidious, sly and ruthless being. Both in western countries and China, there are many legend stories about the animal. And most of the time, it is labeled with a dark image. Actually, the animal is also the symbol of wisdom. People born in the Year of the Snake according to Chinese zodiac are usually well-educated, decent, smart and humorous. They can be brilliant artists, political leaders, as well as great thinkers, such as Gandhi, Goethe, Kennedy, and Picasso.

Were you born in the year of the snake?
(1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013).

In summary they have pretty scales quite often and many people keep them as pets or are fascinated by them.
Here's my card

4 crafty chicks

http://4craftychicks.blogspot.com.au/  wants us to celebrate women
As Mothers Day is coming up the solution is obvious.

My sentiment says something to make you smile MUM
