Unstampabelles & Scrapping4fun challenges.

I used to be on Unstampabelles DT and always enjoyed their challenges.
They are asking this time for a bunch of flowers.
Now flowers and I are not good friends but I found some pretty pink blossoms in my stash and made this card to welcome Spring.(only another month away).
It will pop out of the envelope to whomever it is sent, giving them a pretty surprise.

The challenge there is to use musical notes or instruments.
I had some cherubs left from the baby cards I'm making, so here is "To my cherub"
I think I was dreaming about the Sistine chapel.

Cardz4guyz

The challenge at Cardz4guyz is something beginning with T.

This sent me searching the back corners of my scrap cupboard and I found.............tickets!!!

I've made a collage bon voyage card for a friend to give a male friend when going away on a trip.
Or it could be a wife giving it to a husband. Anyway it is a travel card for a male.
It meant I could use little words that I had kept such as "this is us", "map" and "on our way".
There is also washi TAPE along the bottom.

Shopping our stash and In the pink

A local florist has requested baby cards from me so that she can sell them.
I'm excited as it means recognition for my crafts.

Over at Shopping our stash the theme is to use bling on our cards.
"Diamonds are a girl's best friend". I haven't used diamonds but pearls on this baby boy card.

And at In the pink they want pink(of course) with stars.
On first glance you see circles on this birthday card.
However ,I highlighted the tiny star shapes with white pearls. In real life they stand out quite brightly. I hope this qualifies.

Merry Monday

At http://merrymondaychristmaschallenge.blogspot.ca/ here is the challenge

Digging through my stash I found an old die cut square frame so I've used it to frame my tiny heart.
I only added a small sentiment as the background paper says it all really.

ColourQ #300

Here is the colour palette for Colour Q. Happy 300 to the colour Q girls!
I've made a general celebration card featuring a canvas centrepiece that I've misted coral.
The 2 felt stars are bright yellow but appear washed out on the scanner.
All the other colours are there.

Cardz4guyz and Cute card Thursday

The current challenge at Cardz4guyz is Christmas.
Here is my entry, with a cute festive bowtie for Dad.
The red card in the middle is glossy.

and at Cute card Thursday the theme is pets.
Here is my entry for that one featuring 2 goldfish.
They were cut from an old story book.
Cute eh?

Freshly made sketches & Li'l red wagon

This is the sketch for Freshly Made sketches.

I've made a card for a gardening friend who has helped me out.
It uses some Graphic 45 paper, ribbon and a tiny metal flower.

***********************************
Over at Li'l red wagon we are asked to use thickers and stickers.
This gives me the opportunity to use up some number thickers.
I've chosen a pink umbrella sticker from Simple stories, then have my numbers falling like rain above it.
My sentiment is Laugh together.
I thought as we grow older the years seem to fall away like rain.

One more for Scrap Much.

My next one was to use up that awful circle paper in the background.
The sketch at Scrap Much meant I could cover most of it.
I had 3 small photos of my daughter from various school photos etc so made a layout about her changing. I was also able to use some fancy brads and finish those brown alphas.

That's all my Counterfeit kit gone! Yipee!!!!

Scrap night and some layouts

Last night I went to a Christmas in July scrap night.
As you can see there was lots of fun.

I managed to make quite a few layouts and finish off my Counterfeit Kit.
This one is for Mystical and we are asked to use washi tape and no patterned paper

The next one, also for Mystical wanted 2 pieces of twine or string.
I added a sploshed teabag effect to the background.

This next one is for Scrap the girls

I used vintage lace plus some metal flowers and punched leaves.(Alluding to the tree on the beautiful Pink Paislee paper) This lady would now be 101 years old. I think she died  long ago!
Like most of my heritage layouts, I kept it simple.

Next are 2 layouts for Scrap Much
This first one features my cousin Pat when we went to Canberra.
The colours all worked in nicely.
Again more vintage lace plus some fabric roses

Cardabilities

The sketch at Cardabilities is quite a pretty one.
I've made this card to cheer up a friend who is feeling sad.
I started by misting and then stamping my background.
After adding the newsprint square I sewed my banner and cut up a Ruby Rock-it border trim into ovals for my pennant.

CKC Challenge #3 and members blog hop, plus Let's capture our memories.

Challenge #1:  Picture This:  Use at least 4 photos on your project
Challenge #2:
Old Tool Challenge: Dust off an old tool and get creative
Challenge #3:
Project Altering Experience: Include an altered embellishment

For my blog post I'm doing challenge #3 and am altering some chipboard using rusting powder.
This is especially suitable for cogs on male pages or scrolled iron work on buildings.
I've chosen some corner flourishes.
It is a messy and fun business.

First you paint your raw chipboard with mod podge.

Next you sprinkle rusting powder. (I bought it at a scrapbook show but I'm sure good stores will have it.(That's rusting powder on the right)
Next you spritz it with vinegar and leave to dry overnight,or for at least a few hours. The dryer the better!

When it is dry you brush off the residue. (I used an old toothbrush)
Hey presto! Rusty chipboard.

Here is my layout using the results.

(The faux stitching goes all the way around)

It is based on this sketch from Let's capture our memories
