Scraproom group summer challenge

At the Facebook Scraproom group we have to use the letters for Summer on a layout.

Here's my layout

As you can see, I've gone mixed media with this one.

S= sailing, sewing

U=under layers

M=misting, me

M=mixed flowers

E=enclosed tag (the butterfly)

R= ribbon, Richard (wearing orange) and Ray (in blue)

Alphabet challenge

At Alphabet challenge they want ice cream on cards.

I had this ice cream paper which is perfect for this challenge. I teamed it with aqua paper on the sides.

It is a birthday card which will be given to someone in summer.

Double Trouble and Daring cardmakers

At Double Trouble they want woodgrain.

I've recycled a pack from MME brads which had a woodgrain finish. I added border strips top and bottom plus washi tape along the bottom as well. It features small animals such as rabbits, squirrels and foxes.

My quote on here makes this a bon voyage card. So at Daring card makers I can enter it as well.

Li'l red wagon

At Li'l red wagon they want boys cards.

I've made one for a baby boy.

I've used 3 different pattern papers plus washi tape and of course the alphas. I gently inked around the edge of the sentiment mat to match the alphas.

The Queen's last photo.

I recently made this layout for the Queen's funeral and now have a second layout to go with it.

My 2 photos are the last public appearance of the Queen and her children.

I used a blue background this time and had a velvet flocked white paper which looks regal enough.

Li'l Red wagon and Shopping our stash

At Li'l red wagon they want winter cards.

I've made this one with a water colour background. It also has snowflakes on the tag.

It's been cold here in Australia too.

Another favourite card making challenge is Shopping our stash where this time we can use anything goes but no stamping. That suits me!

Here's my card.

It's a general-purpose card maybe just to say hello or for a birthday, get well etc. I fussy cut the heart and the sentiment from a sheet of American craft paper. The tag and brad have been hanging around for ears so I'm glad to use those up.

Paper Issues sketch.

North of Sydney is a "big dipper" style road bridge. It is frightening anytime but worse in fog. I recently drove across it in thick fog feeling a sense of achievement to get there safely.

I used an old graduate paper which says "congratulations" and "I did it" which felt appropriate at the time. It's not a pretty layout but I wanted to scrap it.

I used vellum, twine and doodling on here as well as some black splash die cuts that I separated to look like swirls of fog.

It is based on this sketch from Paper Issues.

As you like it challenge.

At "as you like it"  there is a beach challenge.

We had to justify if we like the beach or not. One of my favourite places is the beach and swimming in the surf. I travel quite often so love visiting beaches wherever I go. It calms me and helps put things in perspective.

I made a travel card but could also just be a general beach card.

The Male Room

 The Male Room (themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com)

At the Male Room the challenge is travel

Last night I made 2 cards, for cruises, to give to men.

I used a combination of papers including a quite busy ocean wave paper. The top layer is a journal card map from Prima and the 2 chipboard embellishments are also from them.

Just for fun I also made this card with the same paper plus a tag.

Sketches in Thyme and Mystical cyber crop #3

Here's the sketch at Sketches in Thyme. It is a good opportunity to use up odd, shaped bits and pieces.

I started with a circle I had already cut out, but not used. Next the triangle was similarly cut from a strip. I used red cardstock as my background as the wagons both had red on them.

Instead of arrows I used enamel dots.

Mystical cybercrop challenge #3 wants 1 coloured background, 2 photos and 3 frames. It also qualifies for that.

Challenge YOUrself.

At Challenge YOUrself they want us to scrap our happy place.

A couple of years ago I did a layout for Challenge Yourself named "cracked". Julene By Design: Challenge YOUrself. As I pointed out there my happy place is to do with my state of mind. Somewhere where I can be myself and let the fun side of myself shine. With that in mind I did this layout.

It is a Christmas layout.

A friend was given a silly hat for her cat to wear. It had gold plaits hanging down either side. I popped it on my head and pulled a silly face. My 2 best friends thought it was hilarious.

I named my layout Christmas Nonsense. I also used a large camera chipboard piece which I painted pale green. I added tiny white chiffon flowers as well.

Go Green.

My last layout for this month's kit is using the green tropical paper.

I had a strip of the pink leaf paper so put that across the bottom. The other floral paper came in handy behind the photos. I also used a strip of butterfly washi tape across the bottom as well.

I had a green camera and matching enamel dots so they became my embellishments. The journal tag became my focal point I think.

Challenge #1 Face in the crowd.

I saw this layout on a Facebook page and have decided to scraplift it. Mainly using the idea of a central strip going vertically down the camera paper.

I also have these misted canvas shapes I want to use. (Not all, but definitely some.)

Using my camera paper I added a pink strip down the centre. Next I matted my 2 photos with vellum. I layered a large journal card behind the top photo as it has an arrow pointing down. This lines up with Erica in the top photo. I used 2 canvas hearts to draw the eye to her head. (Her face in the crowd moment). I added another small circle of canvas bottom left to balance my layout. The 2 larger canvas pieces are for my title and sub-title.

and here's my clusters

White with one cyber crop -Tic tac toe.

We had to choose one colour to scrap with so I choose red. I used a stencil to make the travel words top and bottom with red paint. The 2 corner pieces are misted canvas. The chipboard piece is above the right-hand picture of me. It featured hearts so I also added sticker glitter hearts and 3 diamentes to the layout. I went down the left-hand column.

Crop day and a few layouts.

Time for a catch up. I went to a crop day on Saturday and managed a few layouts.

My first is a double layout for Stick it Down.

While I was away in Forster my friend and I had a silly sports day. It started with her husband showing me how to play golf. It turns out I can't.

This began a silly day inventing sports. We went for a walk and found poles along the wharf, so pole dancing. etc. She dared me to lay on the seat at the shopping centre and do planking. You can imagine the giggles!

Next was a white background and used a strip of coloured paper. I fussy cut out the flowers and added other natural elements such as butterflies and birds. There's also a Bramble Fox flair on here. The photos are from the same walk as the layout above.

Next I made a heritage layout featuring Forster hotel. I added washi tape plus antique lace. There's a big brad top of those.

Next, I wanted to use the remaining Storyteller paper from Cocoa Vanilla. The colours matched perfectly with 2 photos from my friend's 70th birthday party.

Now all I have left from that range are enamel dots and words.

Li'l Red wagon

I'm having a little break from layouts as I'm attending an all-day crop tomorrow.

Li'l red wagon wants a beach card this week.

I had 2 soft blue papers so used those as my background. The square of 4 pictures is from Darkroom Door and one picture reminded me of the bathing boxes at Brighton, Victoria.

(Wouldn't it be fun to own one of those!)

My card could be a Bon Voyage card for a beach holiday, or I guess a Birthday card for someone who lives on the beach.

Last week I was featured at li'l red wagon. Hooray!

Tuesday 4 July 2023

The scraproom throwback sketch.

I used this sketch to create my next layout.

The green card on the right hand side is by Ruby Rock-it. and I have several sheets. In this case I used it for my journalling. The striped bracket also featured the green so it matched well enough to use.

The black rectangle is a label from back when chalkboard was popular in scrapbooking.I've had it quite a while.

2 more for Mystical

This layout is again for Mystical scrapbooking.

The challenge was to use 3 strips of paper, 2 butterflies and one chipboard piece. I painted the fish with Li'l Davis metallic paint in Sweet Pea. The 3 strips of plain pink paper are odd shapes, but they work on here.I cheated slightly with the 2 butterflies as the journal block already had them.

My next layout is also for Mystical and we had to use frames, small word strips and twine.

I'm really pleased with how this one turned out.

Mystical challenge Two

The first challenge I'm attempting is this one. 3 cluster groups, two word title and one whole piece of patterned paper.

This paper from Bella is glittery so I'm pleased to use it up. The large card top left is also another item I'm happy to have used.

I added chipboard buttons (sewn) plus a flair, a small frame and some brads.

Whale watching and using alphas.

I'm off and racing this month with my Counterfeit Kit.

At Mystical scrapbooks in June they were using up left over alphas so I started there. I used a red stripe paper and put small sticker alphas down each side until they were all used. Next I used a bright striped paper from my kit as the centre strip. There was a big journal card saying "today" so I added my title on it. I used a frame from my kit around the smaller photo and put the larger photo underneath.

We went whale watching from a cliff top looking out to see but unfortunately didn't spot anything, even with binoculars.

July Counterfeit kit reveal and blog hop.

This month's kit is Mercy Tiara kit named "Feeling Groovy"

https://mercytiarakits.com/products/monthly-main-kit-subscription

Presenting my kit "Not so groovy"

Papers:

My papers are as close as I can get to those offered in the kit.
I had the green tropical leaves paper plus the brown with white dots.
Instead of cassettes I used cameras from American crafts.
My florals are different, but I can still use those, and the blue spotted, and chevrons need to be used.
I added a rainbow shaded paper and what I had left from the Cocoa Vanilla storyteller range.
I'll add cardstock as appropriate.

Embellishments: As usual I start with a list.

I've used a mixture of older items from my stash plus some new flairs and scraps which will match my papers. I included some larger journal cards as I have heaps of those.
 And here's some last-minute extras.

A big welcome to DawnLyn Litz our guest designer for July.
