The male room

The Male room card challenge http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com.au/ has the theme of drinks this time.
I decided to paper piece a coffee cup.

Case this sketch

We have 90 km winds here today so I'm staying inside and making cards.
This is the sketch at Case this sketch

I put a slight twist on my card by threading thin cardstock strips through eyelet edging. I added a tree to co-ordinate plus my sentiment DAD as two weeks time is fathers' day.
I'm sure there is a garden conscious Dad who will like this.

Try it on Tuesday

Try it on Tuesday also wants garden. I had a brilliant idea with this one but unfortunately my spray mists were clogged so I had to pour from the bottle instead of misting.
The background was made by mixing 2 colours "dribbling" together.
Next, I used a large stamp across the surface.
My sentiment says memories because gardens often make you recall certain smells or flowers. It could be used for a variety of occasions.

Li'l red wagon & Cards in Envy

The challenge this time at Li'l red wagon is bows and arrows.

I've chosen more of the Fancy Pants wonderful day paper which featured arrows.
I added a bow made from organza which was left from a previous layout. The scanner squashed it flat but it looks nice when "fluffed out".
This is a Thank You card.

Meanwhile Cards in Envy wants bugs.
I had a sheet of stickers from Basic Grey featuring flowers and butterflies, so taking the easy way out using the stickers, I made this card.

Paper Issues and Challenge YOUrself.

At Paper Issues we are asked to scraplift this layout and at Challenge Yourself we need a die cut.
I had these 2 photos taken when 3 of us met up for coffee and the café was celebrating their birthday.
They were looking for people to have their photo taken with balloons and yours truly was chosen.

My die cut is the cream frame around the lower photo although there is also the cake.
I use Fancy Pants Wonderful Day papers and kept with the 3 primary colours where I could.
I've also used 4 cut off strips from papers, several brads, washi tape, Basic Grey stickers and 2 tags I had. It was a small moment that became fun.

Crazy4challenges

http://crazy4challenges.blogspot.com.au/ wants monochromatic cards.
Yesterday at our crop day I made 12 Christmas cards.
The one pictured below uses all green shades.

Rochelle Spears rewind challenge and Scrap our stash

No automatic alt text available.

This is the sketch for Rochelle Spears August Rewind challenge.
Here's my interpretation.

My pictures are landscape rather than portrait but otherwise similar. I put my title to the side as there was no room at the top.

Meanwhile at Scrap our stash there is a tic tac toe.

I went top left to bottom right through the centre.
So I used map paper(from an old atlas 1963 that I had at primary school.), polaroid frame and washi tape.
I'm pleased to have used the awful background paper that I have had for over 10 years.

ABC Christmas Challenge & Freshly made sketches

http://abcchristmaschallenge.blogspot.com.au/ wants red, quick and people on their card.
I've made this one featuring a little girl with her dolls.

and at Freshly Made sketches here's the sketch

I've made a Christmas card with a slight variation on the sketch.
The white lace wouldn't look good next to the white card, so I moved it slightly.

Scrapping outback

Scrapping Outback has this photo.

They want white with greys and yellows.
I've used two different grey papers,a pale spot and a dark slate colour. I've also used 3 different yellows.
My fish chipboard has been misted gold(the closest I had to yellow) then I added gold rhinestones.

Here is a close up of the fish

Sunday Stamps.

Here's my last card for today. I've packed my car ready for a crop day tomorrow.
It is for Sunday Stamps where they want a square card plus this sketch

I've used mushrooms that were remains of a kit I had, plus a baker's stamp.
This card has a variety of purposes.

Cute card Thursday plus City Crafter.

http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com.au/ wants embossing and City Crafter as seen in the previous posts wants paint chips.
I decided to combine the 2 and do a 2nd entry in the case of the latter.
The picture has been cut from an old birthday card and recycled.
I have quite a few paint chips so time to use them.

City crafter challenge.

At City crafter challenge blog they want us to use paint chips.

I have just made a sympathy card for an older lady who loved blue.
I used a paper tag that said "As time goes by" plus some rhinestones.
The background was lined but very subdued. The paint chip is grey.

Stuck?!

I always enjoy doing Stuck?! sketches. Laura Whittaker provides some great ones and this is no exception.
I bought recently a page kit featuring Authentique Seasons collection.
It focused on gardens & spring which is what made me choose these 2 photos.
While we were in Cairns earlier this year the hotel had a beautiful garden with lush tropical plants.

I used the chiffon ribbon across the bottom of the layout so the title of SUNSHINE GARDEN is partly obscured in the scanner.
Note also the watering can and stitched "water" top right.

Here's my layout.

Several challenges

Challenges:

Crafty Animals Challenge #5 - Anything Goes
2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge #5 - Anything with a Critter Goes
Mod Squad Challenge - The Wing's the Thing

Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #169 - Anything Goes with Ribbon (2nd entry)

The hen and rooster on this card made me smile. It started off as a Fathers Day card with the hen saying something like "You are a fine rooster". Then I discovered this strip which said find your wings and fly.

It could be a mother telling her adult son to move out (LOL) or an inspirational card for a first job or uni student.
Again I used scraps of orange from my mini kit this month plus green checked ribbon and a die cut oval shape.

Cupcake designs

This is the new challenge at Cupcake designs.
I love pink and brown together so have made a card for this challenge.
(Maybe they remind me of neopolitan ice cream).

I layered a flower which has glittery edges and spots. In turn I mounted that on spotted paper and also used spotted ribbon along the card's edge.
The dusky pink background paper suited the look of this card.

Reasonable ribbon & Unstampabelles.

http://reasonableribbon.blogspot.com.au/search/label/challenges has anything goes with ribbon.

I'm using more orange scraps from my mini kit plus a card featuring the Eiffel Tower.
This is a more general one but I will put it in the male box of cards for Fathers' Day giving.
I tied the extra thin ribbon in a jaunty knot rather than a bow.

and at Unstampabelles they want Mixed media collage.
I had some paper featuring famous tourist destinations and used gesso through a mask to add words to my card. I also used twine and banner stickers at the top to make a pennant saying "trip".

The male room

The male room asks us to use maps or co-ordinates.
I kept an old atlas from Primary school days (1963) and have cut it up to make these cards for Fathers' Day.

I like them both. Take your pick!

August Mini kit

This was the kit we are asked to Counterfeit.
                                                               **********************
I've noticed navy and orange in home furnishing trends lately

The orange paper stood out to me and so did the navy floral. I decided to concentrate on those two.
Here's my papers and cardstock.
Next I've extra orange scraps to co-ordinate

Finally, here's my mini kit with embellishments.

I decided to make a mini album.
I had several photos of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence.

and here's a peek inside at some of the pages.

All together it has 14 pages. One of the misted tags is in a right hand side pocket with a ribbon and hold journaling.

The Scraproom Jumpstart sketch

I'm on a roll today. With 4 cards made this morning I have now done this layout for https://thescraproomblog.blogspot.com.au/2017/08/august-jumpstart-sketch-challenge.html

I've had these 2 photos and have been waiting for an appropriate sketch with one portrait plus a smaller photo.
We were in Cairns on holiday and wandered into a shop selling retro lollies, toys and to my delight, golliwogs. I haven't seen them around for years.
I've tried to create a retro feel in this layout with the old style floral, the ric rac, buttons and the cursive alphas.

Masculine card and one with a charm.

http://4craftychicks.blogspot.com.au/ want a masculine card.

I had this badge from a 60th Birthday and decided to re-use it.
I chose a green theme to compliment then added 2 stickers as my sentiments.
One is a song title "The best is yet to come" by Frank Sinatra.

and at http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com.au/ they want us to use a charm.
How did they know I found 2 charms yesterday and put them aside to use.
My first charm is a shooting star or comet.
I've attached it to the bow on this card, which could be either male or female?

Scrap soup at Paper Issues

http://paperissues.blogspot.com.au/2017/08/scrap-soup-august.html

I love these recipe challenges because they make you think outside the square.
I've had a range of Fancy Pants Wonderful Day papers that I've been hoarding plus these 3 photos of my great niece and nephews from last Christmas.
Annabelle's dress is geometric(stripes) so I'm keeping it in that vain.
My 3 embellishments are the washi tape, the yellow hearts and the wood veneer arrows.

The scanner cut off the bottom. The white mat goes right along the bottom of the photo.
