Try it on Tuesday.

I've made a tag for Try it on Tuesdays.
The theme is recycle and green so I have done both.
I started by cutting a tag from cardboard packaging

Next I found an old tube of paint that has dried up.
I cut off the bottom and scooped it out on to bubble wrap scrap.
It was quite thick and tacky like texture paste but that is ok.
I stamped on to the tag with the paint then after it dried I added small pearls and 2 items I had in my scrap box.One is a flower from a card, the other was a row of seed pods in a picture.
I haven't put a word at the top yet as I'm not sure how it will be used.

Lasting Memories

Use a tool that you haven't used in a while.
For me it is border punches.
I only own 2 both are lacy and don't exactly go with the topic of this layout but I used them anyway.

You may notice I also did some stitching which I haven't done for a while either.
I've been making a scrapbook album about the bushfires we had on NYE.
One thing I was pleased I could use on here was the 31 fabric brad which came from a Halloween kit.

Cardz 4 guyz and Case this sketch

At Cardz4guyz they want us to use ink or paint.

I started by using crimson ink through a swirly mask.Next I stamped using a white music stamp on the tag.I also distress inked around the edge of the tag.
I added the string, bow and bunny and here you have an Easter card. (Probably for a younger male)

Cardz4guyz dt members, my email is wrong due to an issue with inlinkz. You can contact me via facebook or comment on here and I will be in touch.

My next card is for Cas(e) this sketch.

I had a small piece of this maroon paper left from my kit. I cut so the rose was in the left hand corner then added my sentiment and a dragonfly brad. Not everyone likes pastels!
It will go in the Mother's day box.

Make my Monday challenge wants critters.
I had a fish left in my kit also.
I selected suitable background paper then used blue paint to create an area of "Water" for my fish.
I'm thinking this would be a good Thank You card.

Shopping our stash

I'm making a card this morning for Shopping our stash. The challenge is "The great outdoors" and as pigs usually live outdoors, I think this card qualifies.

I stamped 3 piggies on a long tag then applied watercolour orange paint across it. Next I inked the edges in black and added some twine. The background paper and sentiment co-ordinate.

Sketches in Thyme and Mystical tic tac toe.

This is the new sketch at Sketches in Thyme.

I saw Queen last Saturday night as mentioned earlier so I'm scrapping photos from that.
This one is Brian May, a brilliant guitarist!

I chose red/maroon for this layout as I had papers left from my February kit.
I matted it on corrugated shiny red cardstock. I also added a strip of the same right across the bottom.
The large brad matched and filled an empty corner.
Under the photos I used matching paper plus a strip sticker.
In the other corner is a co-ordinating yellow circle plus my title and Brian in tiny letters.

Mystical scrapbooking has this Tic tac toe.
I've gone down the left hand column. My number is the one=1.

2 challenges in one.

I'm combining 2 challenges today.
Firstly a sketch from Sketches in Thyme.

and secondly the Take 5 challenge from Paper Issues

My layout features 2 works we saw at a Pre Rapaelite exhibition in Canberra a couple of years ago.
I used pinks as I have a surplus of that coloured paper.
For my 5 items I have pink, heart, stars(glitter on butterfly is tiny stars) ,vellum, gold (brads)

American crafts celestial paper and Queen

I had 2 sheets of American crafts Celestial papers in my counterfeit kit.

As I saw the band Queen last Saturday night, I decided to use the papers for that.
The words on the first page kept running through my head.so I put the alphas on first then chose 2 photos.I added washi tape plus 3 wood veneer stars. (Simple s best on this)

On this one I wanted to use photos of Freddie Mercury, he was such a legend.
I also had the ticket from the night and a card saying "Another bucket list item ticked", which it was!
Again, I added star washi tape plus 3 star wood veneers.

These aren't for a challenge but it does finish off my February kit.

Scraproom Jumpstart sketch

Here's the jumpstart sketch at the scraproom.
I didn't want to use hearts so decided on dots instead.
Some are round stickers from a Bo Bunny set named little Engineer.
The rest I used teal ink through the residual sticker negative to create the dots.

They're not as random but suit my needs better.
The smaller strips are random ones from cut offs.

Challenge Yourself

The challenge at Challenge Yourself is superheroes.
It is based on the Mariah Carey song Hero

On this layout I have used a mask and mists to form the chevron background, plus also used chevron washi tape to symbolise my rushing here and there. I printed off a picture of wonder woman to use. There are also tabs from Basic Grey and a yellow cord plus buttons. I've also used scraps of paper in co-ordinating colours.

Looking back to my twenties, I was very busy teaching full time, on a committee in Rotaract working sometimes 4 nights a week at that, plus seeing a boyfriend, doing crafts including knitting that jumper I'm wearing in the photo, keeping up with friends etc. It was a busy time.

My parents used to wonder where my energy came from.
I have no idea why the background to the words is coloured.

Monday 17 February 2020

Another Matriarch layout. plus a sketch.

I've had this small photo of my cousin( with a rub on)  for ages.
It came from an old desk calendar I crafted.

Using two of the blue papers from my kit , I created my background.
Add a doiley and some chalkboard journal tags, plus washi tape and 2 of those cut off strips, and I was almost there.
The white backing for the photo was from a Basic Grey packaging. (Recycling).
I also used navy cord that has been around since Mum was alive.

My next layout is for the Scraproom throwback sketch challenge.

I enjoyed this layout as I used several scraps of blue papers I had plus ricrac that I've had for over 20 years. There are 2 of the Kaisercraft wood veneer embellishments on here too.

Crafter's cafe challenge and Daring cardmakers

I'm still using my February kit, and determined to use some of the ribbons.

Crafter's café has a pink or red challenge so I decided to play there.

I've started with maroon red backing paper inked black around the edges. I then layered a cream piece containing the sentiment "Pa" and a strip of wide ribbon around.
I then added 2 playing cards as my layering piece.

My second card is for Daring cardmakers where they want a card for someone or something you love. I've made a Mother's Day card, getting in early.

I've used the same background with some left over cream alphas and 2 types of braid.

Wednesday 12 February 2020

Freaky fast friday at The scraproom.

I'm doing a challenge from Scraproom this time.

I used the 7x5 as my photo mat and added embellishments from my counterfeit kit.
This was taken inside the MOMA in NYC.
The helicopter is in the centre of the stair well.

Paper issues Scraplift sunday

The layout we are asked to scraplift is the one above.Using my Counterfeit kit, I had one more Christmas picture to scrap. So I adapted this to suit.
I used a bella shaped paper on top of a matching maroon backing. Outlined it in white for more effect.
I had a scrap of green from last month that said "holiday snapshot". I've also used 2 other papers from my kit. The maroon ribbon down the middle breaks it up.

Next I made a tag from corrugated card and added a vellum heart plus a waratah wood veneer. There are 2 others matching on my layout
Next ,I used a chipboard word "laugh" inked in pinecone plus my alphas.
My final touch was a red heart brad.

Monday 3 February 2020

Use your stuff and double trouble.

The challenge at Use your stuff this time is to use a critter.
We are combining with "Double trouble"challenges .
We would love you to join in.

The story behind this is I was wondering if we would see a moose. Finally at a café stop they had a stuffed moose head on the wall hung at Moose height. I had some fun with this.

Sunday 2 February 2020

White with One

At White with 1 the colour is Azure blue and we are asked to use the page maps sketch.

I started with a blue and white paper from my Counterfeit kit.
Using white paper as per the sketch I placed a middle mat over the blue.
After placing my photos, I used diecut tags plus huge alphas.(Some spilled over the photos)
The striped pocket bottom left will hold my journaling.
This gave me the idea of hatching the holes in the letters and outlining them.
I'm disappointed with the word centre but couldn't fit it any other way.

Artastic challenge

I've been trying out a new technique that I saw in Scrapbook creations some time ago.
It is the salt and ink technique.
I used blue and green mist on this background plus on the flowers and chipboard.
The oval chipboard frame was distressed with white paint and gesso.
The heading is feint on purpose. I wanted the flowers as the main focus.

This is for the challenge at Artastic where we are asked to use paint and flowers.

Here's my layout

Saturday 1 February 2020

February counterfeit kit

It is my choice this month for the Counterfeit kit.

I've picked something different.

"Fall under the dark, romantic spell of Darcelle by Frank Garcia for Prima. This mesmerizing and delicately elegant collection is filled with indigo blues, boysenberry purples, and medallion golds for creating projects that will leave you speechless. Design a mixed media panel, love-filled card, or gorgeous notebook pages filled with vintage charm and beautiful accents. Discover wild and free sentiments, curious butterflies, whispers of foil, and glittering jewels in the secrets that Darcelle holds"

It was their November kit based around Prima Darcelle range.
https://tresjoliekits.com/kit-gallery/ Tres jolie
( Fabulous ideas for using your kit on there too.)

You can see them better at the scrapbook.com store.

I approached this differently by looking at Embellishments first.
Flowers

                                                                    Ribbons washi and brads.

Why ? Because I wanted to see what I had before diving into the paper stacks.

So after matching papers to the flowers and ribbons, here they are :

I can hear Lisa drooling at that American Crafts top right paper!

I added in more embellishments to the papers:-

(This required spending some money, but it was worth it.)

SO now here is my whole kit Upside down granny
