The queen and Mum at FS2S

Our family has always thought Mum looks like the queen. The only one who can't see the resemblance is her. Though she is 7 years older she is very similar in hairstyle, dress and general appearance. In this photo of her 21st(in 1939),I think she looks particularly regal.I downloaded a picture of the queen and cut around it.I added pearl flourishes and embellishments and used Mum's favourite colour-blue. I've included 2 more photos of Mum below so you can see it is not "a one off"All she needed on that picnic rug was a corgi to make it complete.

Kraft it up at Le Tour

I have always wanted to see Le Tour de France as I love watching it on tv.This month's "Kraft it up" was to scrap something you'd like to do. Firstly I took photos of the race from the television. Then I used rubber stamps of aeroplane,Eiffel Tower and the bike riders. I've used Scrapmatts new Layered Bridge painted white and featuring a cut out rider.I've used magic mount to make it more 3D.Next,I made toothpick flags and used strips of airmail patterned paper around the photos.I finished with washi tape cameras and filmstrip.I doodled the aeroplane trail and the edges of the road.I've also included a close up of the bridge.

Show us your stuff

My cousin Pat gave me a copy of this old photo taken during the war, in Sydney. It is of her parents possibly going to get married.Nobody is sure. I inked or misted book pages using a negative chipboard of the butterflies in pink, blue and red. This reminded me of the typewriter in the challenge picture. At the same time I misted 3 butterflies. The photo was mounted on a doiley cut in half(handmade). The journalling is within a slide mount frame. The lovebirds and flowers top left are fussy cut.I've also added a braid featuring 3 love knots to go with the theme.

Beyond Bird is the word.

The word is BEYOND,so I've used 2 photos of a bridge in Ireland,a before and after photo really. The white windmill got my interest then it turned out to be a modern built restaurant. I've used the 3 colours of black and white and red, however the quote by T.S.Elliot was appropriate so I included it.

Archiscraps challenge ends this Sunday

Archiscraps first challenge ends on 15th July at midnight. So far we have one entry BUT I'd like to see more. As LLeyton Hewitt says "C'mon" All you are required to do is produce a layout featuring the colours or shapes or anything else the Duomo inspires you to do.I'm sure you all have a brown/rust/cream layout somewhere.IT DOESN"T HAVE TO FEATURE ARCHITECTURE, it could have a sepia photo of Grandma etc. PLease upload via the comments section on archiscraps of course.

Anna's craft layout with C

Anna's craft cupboard featured a sketch with 2 photos.I've chosen 2 photos of Jonathan and Charlotte(RAT).The whole thing uses papers from Kaisercraft's "Konstruct" range.I've used raw chipboard brackets, eyelets, and a slide mount for a blast from the past.

White with one and polkadots & tape.

The big problem with this layout was the tape! I don't have washi tape and other than D/S tape, not much.Scratching through my desk drawer I unearthed some green electrical tape...thus began this layout. My green scraps bag contained quite a few polkadots scraps including the 3 punched flowers.I've layered them starting from the bottom, adding vellum tabs which have dots from the cuttlebug and dotted brads. The title even has spots! I've used rubons and Scrapmatts flourish to finish this off. I just had another look at the photo and even the trees have spots!!!

Scrap the girls with no teeth

This month's Scrap the girls challenge is to use black, white and one other colour. I've gone for an obvious choice---red!
Annabelle was born with a hair lip and cleft palate so anything to do with her mouth has been an issue. Finally,at 6 and a half she is losing her baby teeth. She very proudly showed me the progress as I had the camera out.I've called my layout "Goodbye baby teeth". I've used old leftover numbers as part of my background then inked some white card after putting it through the cuttlebug. The b's in the word baby are old MM rubons from about 8 years ago and I found the a & Y from scraps too.The clipboard and star are leftover chipboard pieces.Overall,an economical layout.

1,2,3 purple "my" and chevrons

1,2,3 this month are requiring purple, chevrons and the word "my". I've used purple cardstock to create chevrons by measuring and cutting(reminded me of high school geometry lessons). The chipboard has a 60's "flowerpower" feel to it, so I've used a doiley and flowers to embellish. This photo was taken 3 years ago at a Scrapbooking retreat I attended.
