Christmas card challenges

At Christmas card challenges it is anything goes.

This card is using leftover items.
The paper was in my Christmas bundle and I wanted to use it.
The washi tape is the end of the roll.
The tag was made by using leftover alphas then painting over them in white to create a snowy background texture.
I glued the sparkly santas etc.
Even the brad was an odd one I had.

Again. my scanner is tilting.(sorry)

Color throwdown #370 and Li'l red wagon

Here's the challenge at Color Throwdown. Aren't they happy looking snowmen?
I had this card half made before I even saw the challenge.
I just added the strips and sentiment. Sometimes I'm sure I'm psychic!

And at Li'l red wagon I see the theme is "This is how we roll" which means anything with wheels.

I've made a get well card for a man featuring cars.

Finishing off the Counterfeit kit.& 4 Crafty chicks

One last layout made from Counterfeit kit remnants.
I'm pleased it all worked out ok.

As I emptied the tray of items I made cards.

This last one is for 4 Crafty Chicks 4cc#274

Well, that's it for another month!

Freshly made sketches

Here's my entry for Freshly made sketches
It occurred to me this morning that I've made that many cards and entered that many challenges, that I won't know if I actually win anything!
That isn't the point though, I enjoy making them.
This wonderful sketch made me want to create a card.
So, here's my humble effort.
The scanners on a lean again, must be too much Christmas cheer! (HIC).
I can assure you that the stripes on my card are straight.

Merry Monday

This current theme at Merry Monday is all about Blue & white and texture.

I decided to go mixed media with some paint and gesso.

first I squirted blue paint on to a mask
I wiped it over the holes using several baby wipes to create a water colour effect.
Next I moved the mask slightly. I wiped gesso through the holes.
This gives a snowy effect on my blue drops.

After it dried I painted hessian blue using the same colour.
I sewed 2 buttons plus some scalloped lace.
My final touch was a few gold chipboard stars.

Our Beautiful World

At Our Beautiful world this week the theme is Vintage.
On my computer I have this photo of an old stagecoach we saw in Canada.
These were the only First Nation people we saw on our trip.
The stagecoach is definitely vintage.

Tuesday Taggers and Daring cardmakers

Over at Tuesday taggers they are  asking for a box.
At Daring cardmakers it is anything but a card.

Now it just happened I found a sturdy box yesterday from my computer gear.
I plan to cover it and fill it with chocolates for my neighbour.
I covered the lid with festive Christmas paper(I even mitred the corners!), then ran 2 rows of washi tape around the sides.
In my Christmas decorations I found a gold pointsettia,so have decided to glue that on to the lid.
Voila! the box.

3 Challenges, one post.

First at Use Your stuff we have layers.
I made this card using leftovers mainly. The background paper was a scrap.
Next I added the doiley, then some flower stickers from a previous month's Counterfeit kit.
The flair was in this month's kit. The spotted washi just added a finishing touch.
For something different, I cut off the 4 corners.

Next is Christmas Card Challenges where Anything goes.
I found these deers on paper so made my brown card Christmassy.

Next is Mojo Monday

My card first

Color Throwdown #369 and Jingle Belles

These colours at Color Throwdown had me stumped at first.
The berry red/maroon was really difficult to find.
I had resolved to make anything but a Christmas card, and guess what I ended up with?
There on my desk was Kaisercraft's Mistletoe collectables and in the centre of them were the pointsettias.
Christmas here in Australia is hot, so the orange reminded me of that.
Here's my take on this week's challenge.

At Jingle Belles the theme is holiday leftovers.
I had stamped the 3 holly branches for something else I'm making and not used them.
I used up dregs of a paint tube (lime) that I've had for 7 years.
I added water and making a water colour wash background.
On went the 3 holly stamped and cut out branches and I added a leftover sentiment from a Kaisercaft pack I had.
Here is my very economical card.
The white cardstock was donated to me as well.

No challenge,just some FUN.

I've just completed the blog hop at Stick it Down. Great fun and some inspiration there for sure.

DON"T FORGET the Counterfeit Kit blog hop is on the 24th.The girls always excel themselves there.
                                                     *******************
I've been fiddling with this layout for a couple of days as it involved much layering.
The photo was of a market that I visited in Darwin.

I've used the 2 remaining MME papers from my Counterfeit Kit
I like the texture of these as they allow tearing and distressing easily....which I did.
Next, I matted my photo then used a border punch to create a fancy edge.
Over that I've used some crochet motifs.
The wooden scrolls and bird cage went on next.(We saw everything at that market)
Then came some MME stickers and fox washi.
I tucked hessian under 2 corners and added the layered felt tree, and the bicycle flair.
My title came last, it was created by using up a set of alphas a few months ago.

An eclectic mix but it matches the market....a real assault on the senses!

Ruby's rainbow and Christmas card challenges

Over at Ruby's rainbow the theme is Red, White and Blue.
I could have gone patriotic but decided I need more general cards.
I chose a pretty paisley paper as my background, then began to layer.
The mesh provided a good contrast then the felt stars were a good finishing touch.

At Christmas card challenges the theme is Santa based on a photo inspiration.

I have Santa, plus a stamped image of the song, we wish you a merry Christmas, as my sentiment.

Purple Christmas

At Fan-tastic Tuesday they're asking for anything goes with PURPLE.

I've made a Christmas card
The sentiment is recycled from another Christmas card.

and while I was in the scrap bag I made a birthday card as well.

A baby girl card & 2 challenges

Here is the girl equivalent of the baby romper card I made in an earlier challenge.
It could be for a new baby or a christening.
I'm entering it in the following challenges
Word art Wednesday-Anything goes
In the pink-Shaped card

Sketch 'n'scrap card challenge

This is the sketch, which I really like, from Sketch 'n'scrap.
I've used a silver edge punched card as my base.
The top paper featured silver too.
The central sticker is from my Counterfeit kit.

Mojo Monday and Jennifer Grace plus a baby card.

My first card is for the latest sketch at Mojo Monday.
Isn't that upside down cookie man cute?

Next is a card for Jennifer Grace's Frosty festivities.

I've used pattern paper scraps
Fibre (NO twine)
ephemera
buttons
sticker sentiment (no Christmas word stamps.)
I've layered them using the same recipe as Jennifer and produced this colourful card.
It is also going on Cards in Envy this week where the challenge is layers.

I've also been experimenting with shape cards and have mastered the playsuit shape for baby boys. This is my first attempt.

Scrapping challenges #457

457

At Scrapping Challenges, here is another sketch.
I've used 2 photos and turned the whole thing sideways with the photos landscape.

These 2 photos were taken under the jetty in Darwin whilst waiting to go on my birthday sunset cruise. I kept humming "On the boardwalk".

I've used MME papers again plus chalkboard beach theme chipboard and Cedar lane embellishments.

Challenge YOUrself and Stuck?!

Time to get back to some relaxing scrapping and my NOVEMBER Counterfeit Kit.
The tic tac toe challenge at Challenge YOUrself inspired me to go diagonally from top left to bottom right.
( &,you and doiley)

and at Stuck?! this is the second sketch for the month.

I've combined the 2 challenges. My title is at the side as I couldn't fit it in next to the big flower.
I've used MME Collectable papers plus other items from my Counterfeit Kit such as washi tape, 2 doileys, the chipboard flowers and card also from the MME range. The ampersand is on the bottom title.
I always love sending cards or letters back to friends when I'm away.
Here I was posting a letter from Alice Springs.

Saturday 14 November 2015

ABC Christmas challenges and Natalie and Amy.

http://abcchristmaschallenge.blogspot.ca/ asks us to use an animal.
http://natalieandamy.blogspot.co.uk/ has a winter scene challenge.
I've used a fox wood veneer and gold Studio Calico chipboard stars from my Counterfeit Kit plus torn white textured paper and liquid pearls on this card.
I like the card so much, I will keep it to give to my daughter or sister for Christmas.(hope they don't read this)

Retro sketches #189 & Jennifer Grace

Still doing Christmas cards.
I'm using this sketch from Retro Sketches as my basis.

I've used 3 Christmas washi tapes, plus a cake topper featuring a stack of trees.
I added some extra sequins and of course my sentiment.

Next is for Jennifer Grace's Christmas event.
Download the stars on her site.
It is a tall thin card so the big star went at an angle.

Crafty ribbons and The sisterhood of crafters

At Crafty ribbons they want Christmas trees.
I made 6 cards last night including this one which features a tree, plus a red grosgrain ribbon along the side. Hope you like it!

And at The sisterhood of Crafters it is a Christmas theme as well.
I thought I'd put this card on there.
Aren't those Santas cute? They are cake toppers.
This card also contains ribbon plus washi tape.
