Decorative Arts

Here's the final layout I did for Enchanted's cybercrop. We saw this in the Museum of Decorative arts in Paris. The gold is REAL.I love the way this layout grew based on Tiffiny's sketch. The rub-ons I used were some that I never thought would come in handy but they suited this perfectly.

Anothereee for Enchanted's cybercrop.

I'm suffering from a shortage of cardstock at present so was forced to use either purple or black. As our layout needed to include masking,I chose purple. This is based on a sketch i saw on "scraps of me" but it has become Tracey's technique challenge on Enchanted as well. There's sanding, layering, ruffles, masking and decorative borders here. The girls came to sydney to go to the Emilie Autumn concert which is why they were dressed this way.

My favourite drink!?

I found a new site called "a few of my favourite things" and this month's challenge was to do your favourite drink. In winter I adore minestrone soup.It is a meal in itself but also a great warming drink.Either I buy Weight Watchers soup or very occasionally I make it.

It is different

I've just completed this layout for Artastic based on art nouveau. My daughter tells me the curves needed to be more elongated and irregular.I'm happy with what I've done here.

two more published

I've just received word that my two layouts called "Party girl" and "swim" are to be published in Scrapbook news and reviews. They will appear on their website during March/April.

Irish on St Patrick's Day

Here is my latest project for "scrap the poem" It was taken at Glendalough, near Dublin last year. The celtic cross seemed to go so well with the paper. I bought this BoBunny "Eire-Dublin" paper several years ago and had been waiting for the ideal opportunity to use it.The dotted paper is Basic Grey Wisteria/Greenhouse.
Happy St Patricks Day everyone!

Queen is completed

Fresh from breakfast this morning I finally put this layout together. The missing thing was the old music...it just made it all tie together. The paper is from Wishmade Co.,the tag(clock) is from Nostalgiques, the mushrooms are by DCWV greenstack chipboard, the picture of Alice I downloaded on to parchment then used a red heart stamp in the corner, the title is thickers. It is a picture of my sister aged 6 going to a fancy dress ball.My mother made this dress from crepe paper and cellophane. It was kept until a few years ago when it finally tore and was thrown out.

2 sketch layouts done

These 2 layouts are for stuck!? sketches and A2Z scraplets, where I discovered I also have won a random prize for my "monument" layout.I didn't even know! This may have brought my mojo back, there's nothing like praise to boost your spirits.

Mojo gone missing

I've had the same layout in pieces on my desk for over a week now.I've tried moving them around but can't get inspired. It is for Enchanted's challenge of the month featuring Alice in Wonderland. The photo is ideal but my heart just isn't in it.I even saw the movie in 3d yesterday which was fantastic.Johnny Depp always cheers me up.
I guess I'm tired. It has been a very busy week with the bookselling and even though I rest of an evening,I'm still tired. There is a craft show on at sydney showground tomorrow which I'd like to go to.Maybe that will inspire me.

Down memory lane

This layout features a picture of me in my first year of teaching. Both Annas craft cupboard and mystical scrapbooks will show this layout for different reasons this month.
I love this 7 gypsies paper

What is old is new again entry

The 1960s were my childhood,so it is commonsense that I look back on the fashions with awe. While we were in London we visited Carnaby Street, where we saw big brand shops selling run of the mill fashions with a couple of exceptions. Is its way different to what it would have been in the late 1960s.
What's old is new again wanted this sketch featuring the word love.

Saturday 6 March 2010

Here's a visitor in our back garden. They eat slugs, spiders, snails, caterpillars etc so I'm leaving it on patrol. As I'm not a keen gardener there are plenty of places for these insects and the blue tongue to hide. It seems to like our water heater.

Black with 2

Here's my layout for Black with 2.We saw these amazing artifacts from Ancient Egypt in the louvre in Paris.Maybe it is autumn coming but several of the sites have orange as a dominant colour.

A crop with Tiff

Last night I drove to Camden(in the rain) to attend Tiffiny Sawyers first crop in her new studio.I'm truly amazed at how much scrapping stuff she has.Looking at my meagre stash,I'll never feel guilty again!
We had a fun night and I met some nice people.

Thursday 4 March 2010

Here's the layout for Enchanted based on the criteria from Scrapbooking memories "what's cooking" section.Basically,it was a limited challenge.I've used a transparency which I've had for a while. It seemed to work on this layout.

Crafty sketches entry and What's cooking page

Here's my entry for crafty sketches this month. The boys got Nintendo DS for CHristmas and we didn't hear a word out of them all afternoon.I'm loving these vines, they're so versatile!
I'm working on my "what's cooking" page for Enchanted and will upload it soon.

Production designer?

I've now been listed on From screen to scrap as official member of their design team. My title is Production designer.According to Wikipedia this means "they must select the settings and style to visually tell the story." Okay that sounds like a challenge! I'm not taking it literally (thank goodness) and I'm sure Shazza just wanted to give us all a title.
I guess I do try to visually tell the story with scrapbooking, after all it is what it is about. The theme this month is Happy Feet.I took a photo of my feet in the foot spa then added the appropriate bubbles and a penguin.
Enchanted Scrapbooking has caught the movie bug with "Alice in Wonderland"'s poster. It will be an interesting challenge this month.
This is the busy time with the books I sell.I look forward to my scrapping time when I reach home.
