Farmquest mushrooms.

I've made a square card for Farmquest where the theme is frogs, toads or mushrooms. In my case it is the mushrooms.

I used a bakers stamp for my sentiment. I used co-ordinating mushrooms in the strip across the middle and the tiny tags top right. They match the background paper which was from Kaisercraft. I've had it so long I've forgotten the range.

Sketch 'n' scrap (beach)

Sketch 'n' scrap had this sketch.

I used a very old photo of 2 of my cousins. It is one of those from the 1970s that turned orange.

Both background papers are cheaper no brands and I'm glad I can use them! The chevron paper behind the photo is an offcut from a card I have also made (see below). The other beach items are random scraps.

The whole thing has a beachy sunny vibe.

Here's the card

Lasting Memories-outdoors (park)

The challenge at Lasting Memories is walk in the park day.

I thought about walks in the park on my holidays and came up with watching squirrels in Montreal, Canada. Here in Australia, we don't have squirrels, so they are a novelty to watch.

For my style of layout, I'm trying something different.

Flopassionscrap (canalblog.com) uses shaped photos with gaps in between as her style. I tried to copy that.

It suited the photos as the squirrels in each photo are small.

I spy with my little eye and card concept.

My counterfeit kit is finished so now I'm using up leftover pieces on cards.

My first is for "I spy with my little eye"  where she wants an easter card or spring animal.

The bunny was an obvious choice for this challenge.

********************************************************************************

My next card is for The Card concept

I've chosen a slimline card to make. I started with metallic blue cardboard. On there I added turquoise Ric-rak braid then an almost lime green patterned paper. I place 3 blue butterflies on the green paper, plus my sentiment.

Birthday cards are always in demand.

Paperminutes

At Paperminutes they want farm animals.

I've made this card using a stamped tree and a fussy cut horse.

The fluffy clouds are felt.

Lasting Memories-Happiness

At Lasting Memories they are celebrating International day of Happiness.

We are asked to make a layout about what makes us happy.

This layout features a friend from high school days and whenever I get together with her we laugh and generally enjoy ourselves.

I started with a printed Kraft background. I used mists and dribbled it down the page. The washi tape across the top anchors the design. I used border strips around the edges of the mat to frame it then added a large pink flower. I called my layout "Happy Days out with you".

Storyteller layout

I've used the storyteller range from Cocoa Vanilla again.

It is another old family photo, and I layered the hearts papers on here, plus added a few smaller offcuts I had. Also, there is the stickers, word phrases, enamel hearts, 2 wooden buttons plus some embroidery thread. They are all in my kit.

Paper Issues sketch

This is one of the March sketches at Paper Issues on Facebook.

I had a busy orange paper in my March Counterfeit kit that needed "breaking up". It was too busy as one piece.

I cut it into strips and used a yellow and white background. With my photo of the Nachos also mounted in yellow, it all co-ordinated.

I had no rainbows but placed random embellishments including 3 journal cards on here.

Challenge #2. Counterfeit Kit Challenge.

Use a movie poster as inspiration to create a layout. You can mimic the style of the poster or grab whatever catches your eye.

I've chosen "Eyes wide shut"

These are the 2 posters that were around for the movie premiere.

I took the venetian mask and went with that idea. When we were in Venice, my daughter wanted to choose a mask for her best friend.

Lasting Memories with storyteller.

I've made another layout using the storyteller range from Cocoa Vanilla, which were in my kit.

Lasting Memories wants a flower this week, so I added the last vellum daisy from my kit as it matches the papers plus, I also added lace from my sister's wedding dress. That's me, the littlest one in the photo.

Tuesday 14 March 2023

2 cards

I've made a card for Cardz 4 guyz where they want something funny.

And this card is for Farmquest where anything (farm) goes.

CSI : #407

I've chosen to do a layout for CSI where the above is Case number 407.

I started with a white background and have used all the colours.

EVIDENCE

Woodgrain

Stripes

animal print (on the giraffes) plus fish scale pattern on the washi tape.

wood embellishment (buttons).

Washi tapes (2)

ribbon

TESTIMONY

I wrote my journaling as a list. (Who, What, Where, When, Why)

Lasting Memories wants a layout with animals. This qualifies for that challenge too.

Storyteller layouts

I've used some of my storyteller papers this morning and made 2 layouts.

The first is based on a layout I saw by Sue Plumb on the Cocoa Vanilla site

Love You | Storyteller collection | Sue Plumb | Cocoa Vanilla Studio. She had done a boys page and I wanted to do a male page also, so I adapted it.

The next one is a vintage theme. I'm the smaller girl in this photo, aged about 4.

Everything on here is Storyteller exept the handmade flowers which are from Autumn Lane. I used 3 clusters on this one.

Rochelle Spears and Scrap with Stacey

I'm combining these 2 challenges. Scrap with Stacy has the tic ac toe and Rochelle Spears has the sketch.

I've used just one photo of me that I have, taken recently. I'm celebrating the fact that I've made it this far...68. One thing I have learnt in life is to appreciate the positives in life.

With the tic tac toe, I went down the first column vertically. I used wood veneer 68 instead of chipboard (I didn't have any).

Scraproom Group duo.

I've made 2 new layouts since my last card.

The first is for Freaky fast formula on the scraproom.

My cousin Richard, dressed up as Elvis for a party. This photo inspired me to make this layout.

Everything on here was from my Counterfeit kit, except the metallic blue cardstock.

Next was a LUCKY challenge at the Scraproom.

I used L=library pocket U=uniball pen C=cotton K=key Y= yellow

I'm glad I kept those random keys from my old house!
I had to use the negatives for a few of the letters on both layouts, but it helps me use them.
I also made the library pocket from scratch on this one.

Wednesday 8 March 2023

Crafty Calendar challenge

I made this card for Crafty Calendar Challenge.

They want buttons and bows. My central picture was cut from behind the photo in the previous layout. Cosmo Cricket had 2 sides and the reverse side featured old fashioned children photos.

I distressed around the edges then layered a few scraps at angles. The ribbon echoed the old-fashioned idea, and the small grey button went with the colours.

Monday 6 March 2023

Scraproom Colour challenge

My next layout is for the Scraproom group and is their colour challenge.

I actually had a photo containing cacti so decided to use it.

The background paper is cosmo cricket odds and ends trinkets and was perfect for the two-tone green.  I used a couple of 6x6 pieces as my matting. The cactus in the pot is hand drawn.

Scrap our stash

Following on from the last post about making the star paper, I decided to use it for Scrap our stash.

I had an America Craft planet paper in my kit as well, so I decided to combine the two. The photo of the Opera House lit up at night seemed to match it.

One of the other papers had stripes on one side but black and white quotes on the other. I used the cool pennant and my right-hand tag from there.

The other criteria were stars. I already ticked that box with the star paper but found 3 wood veneer stars plus some washi tape featuring stars.

Here is the sketch we are asked to base it on.

FOTF and a double box layout ticked.

My suggestion for Forgeries on the Fourth was these 2 papers.

The plus sign one was a direct copy of one of the storyteller papers. I made it with various felt pens and gel pens I had on hand.
The star one used an old rubber stamp from my teaching days, using various coloured inks. This is to go with the navy planet paper in my kit.
**************************************************
My second layout for this kit is a colour challenge on Soul Scrappers plus a sketch challenge on The Scraproom group.

Here's the sketch challenge.
and the colours we are asked to use were maroon, red, blue, yellow, white PLUS stripes.

I guess the checked paper contains stripes but I added the tricolour ribbon just to make sure.

Thursday 2 March 2023

Sketches in Thyme

At Sketches in Thyme there's this sketch

I had one more Christmas layout to do.

I used more of that coloured circle garland as my dots then dipped a lid in pink paint to make the extra circles.

I mounted my photo on gold corrugated card then vellum and added my tag. The daisies are from Jolie's boutique and give it a country feel I think.

The vertical stripes are 2 papers from my counterfeit kit as well.

Challenge YOUrself.

I'm late getting to Challenge Yourself this time. With the hot humid weather we have had, I haven't been scrapping or creating much.

The theme there this time is meditation. I couldn't think of anything directly but had this photo of me standing outside a library while on holidays. Reading is like meditation to me. It is why I ultimately became a librarian.

I traced the large circle to cut out then decided to put a wavy edge on it. I stitched using blue embroidery thread to create a radiating effect.

Otherwise, there are strips of paper including one of city buildings nut to me it looks like book spines along a shelf. (I'm brainwashed!) Also, one featuring alphabets, which obviously relates to reading.

Publishing and all that!

I've been published in an online Scrapbooking Magazine.

March counterfeit kit

Our kit this month is Introducing the Time to Thrive Digital and Printable Scrapbook Collection by Traci Reed — Traci Reed Designs

Here's what Anna says:

I came across the digital kits from Traci Reed designs that have the same colors and even some of the same designs as Storyteller, her physical collection designed for Cocoa Vanilla, a company from Australia (she’s the genius behind that popular collection). The cool thing about a digital/printable kit is that there is no limit on how much she can create.

I also love that this collection has a very specific message of self-care for mental health and body positivity which is something I’d like to focus on more going forward.

As usual I studied the papers first.

I came up with this list
Story
camera
smile
picture perfect
love
hearts
oh snap
recorded
memory
woodgrain
floral
small hearts
apricot
butterflies
plaid
rainbow
daisies
ditsy floral
blue check
navy

Then Anna pointed out the Storyteller collection from Cocoa Vanilla. Being Australian made, I thought I'd better investigate.

I bought what I could from this range.

Presenting my kit "I'm a storyteller and can prove it."

PAPERS
I've ended up with a combination of Storyteller papers, plus my own add ons.
There's both red and orange in here as well as a few I chose because of the patterns.
There are also 2 forgeries.

and here is the Storyteller range I bought.

Next came my alphas. I wanted black on white or gold same as the original kit. I had a new black set plus 2 lots of red and rose gold partly used.

The EMBELLISHMENTS are based around my list, plus what I bought from storyteller kit.

There are some flairs and I have a stamp set of butterflies if needed.

I'm still searching for camera motifs.
