Sketches in Thyme.

My next layout is for Sketches in Thyme. Here's the sketch.

I started with a green background paper and used a stencil with darker green paint to create my background.
I used a second stencil with pinecone ink to add some depth. (The chicken wire resembles actual pinecone shapes I realised.

Next, I layered string, my patterned paper plus a paper doiley. At the top corner I echoed this and added a brad.
I had small chipboard branches so inked those as well and added some liquid pearls to the tops of the leaves for snow.
When it came to my title I found that there were no more E, so I invented a word=frozz.

3 more bushfire layouts -Lasting Memories.

This morning I finished off my January kit by creating 2 more layouts about the bushfires. That makes a total of 5 with another one to go.

On this one I used a chipboard branch (inked dark brown) from my kit plus the tag, brads and alphas. The wood paper was also from the kit.

On the next one I used scraps of orange paper plus orange paint to signify the fire.
I kept embellishments simple as the topic is hard to "make pretty"

My final one is for Lasting memories where they want anything but a 12x12 layout.

I had this camping paper which had "The great outdoors" plastered along the top. I cut it off so it is 8 inches deep by 12 inches . I named it Sun of fire as it was the sun on NYE after the worst day of the fires. The cream paper slopes up, it is printed that way.

let's get sketchy

My next bushfire layout is for Let's get sketchy.

I chose a photo of an injured koala and my title is #heal.

I've used papers from my Counterfeit kit again to compose this.
The mats I have used are neutral white and bone. I've used hearts.

Scrap our stash BINGO

I've decided to go bottom left to top right in a diagonal.
So banner,brad,tag,stitching.

I started with another of the wooden log papers then matted my photos on the reverse side paper.
I used hessian as my mat and stitched it top and side with orange thread.
Next, I found 3 tags from an old Basic Grey range and used them to create a banner, with brads to hold them and again orange stitching.

I added my title, date and some words that evoke that day.

Scrap our stash sketch

In my Counterfeit Kit I put some papers featuring timber cut into logs.
My original intention was a woodland theme.

But then something happened in Australia that needs to be documented and remembered. BUSHFIRES

I've used some of the iconic photos that were on our media to create this page.
(I have 3 pieces of this log paper so will do more)

I followed the basic sketch but my photos were bigger so used 2 down the left hand side.
My title needed to be at the bottom because of the flames.
The chevron paper is under the big photo on the right, I cut the chevrons at the bottom to give more "staccato" to the scene. There are 3 gold hearts on my layout.

Tuesday 21 January 2020

More than words plus tags for fun.

Yesterday I made 4 blue tags.
I used up a set of alphas I had plus some other smaller bits and pieces.

The left hand tag has a stamped Eiffel tower then drips of mist and light inking through a mask.
I added a wood veneer angel and 3 chipboard hearts. The finishing touch was 3 pink enamel dots.

Mojo Monday

It is time to get back into card making,so I started with this one for Mojo Monday.

Here's the original sketch
I had fun making this one using paper offcuts, plus ribbon and the misted canvas heart from this month's Counterfeit kit.
Baby cards are always required.

Scrap challenge YOUrself

At Mystical scrapbooks they had a mood board
This led me to some photos of me swimming. I'm trying to do more of that this year.

With the challenge at Challenge YOUrself  in my mind,

Here's the layout with my word SWIM.
That's me in the bottom photo. We were on a holiday at Hamilton Island.

Paper players

At the paper players is this colour challenge.
I started by using a grey (neutral) background which had a border of red scrollwork with stars.
Next I added an olive green patterned paper and my sentiment, which is  raspberry swirled.
(mmm now I want an ice cream!)

I then added a raspberry toned cartouche with a pale olive green brad.

The background grey, the olive green and the brad are from my counterfeit kit.

Scrap with Stacy.

Here's the challenge at Scrap with Stacy.

I have chosen to go down the first column so cardstock, circle and punch.

I started with a very Christmassy foiled paper from RubyRock it named "Vintedge Glam".

Next, I added some green cardstock recycled from the folder my Christmas stamps came in.

I matted my 3 photos on papers from the 6x6 pad in my kit. I used a circle doiley and 3 small Christmas sayings from the same 6x6 pad. I added 3 copper coloured wood veneers in Christmassy shapes. There are also 2 gold arrows.
My alphas are as plain as I could get on this very busy layout.

Hope you like it.

While we are on a food theme, I've made a card using all Counterfeit kit items, for Li'l Red Wagon
The theme there is baked goods such as cakes, biscuits etc.
I had a cupcake on my gold sticker page, so layered it on one of the canvas shapes then put it on this card.It can work for male or female.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge January # 1

Challenge #1 is named Out with the old and in with the new.

Your challenge today is to check through your kits to identify the NEWEST and OLDEST items in there, and then use both of them on your project. Don't forget to let us know just how old these products are! Let's see who's got the longest time difference!

My oldest item in the kit is the book paper torn from an old novel deleted from a library where I worked 20 years ago. Anytime I needed book paper I have used these papers. It has lasted me the whole 18 years since I started scrapping.
The newest item happens to be the red striped paper which I purchases in the after Christmas sales about 2 weeks ago.

Using both plus other items from my kit, I've made this page.

I haven't done any journaling,  as it is part of a series.

Rochelle spears sketch

Rochelle spears sketch challenge

I'm using all January Counterfeit kit items on here ,plus some ephemera from my trip to Canada.
(the beer coaster and the business card plus 2 wood veneer reindeers) We are pretending they are moose on this layout.
The bar was also a restaurant and very "hip". The vault is on the right about half way down behind the brick wall.

I started by matting my coaster on a red and white doiley.
I tucked the business card at the bottom.
The red vertical strip is foiled so what looks black is actually a shiny red.
The photo isn't the best as it was taken on my old phone. However it is the only one I had.
I matted the photo on 6x6 Christmas paper. A small shaped tag has been added with the date plus another under the top reindeer.
Combining small and big alphas was the only way the title would fit."LOOSE MOOSE BANK VAULT "is the title.
No enamel dots, I don't have any.

Paper Issues sketch challenge

This is the sketch which I flipped so it looks like this

From my woodland bundle of papers I used a reindeer Christmas paper plus a brown and red/green spotted paper.
After joining them, I arranged my paper scraps to form a mat behind my 3 photos.
I used some striped washi from my kit plus 3 gold hearts and a frame around the smallest photo.
One of my paper pieced reindeer is my main embellishment.
Notice also a canvas plaque shape that has been misted in red.

And here's my layout

Saturday 4 January 2020

Freaky Fast Friday and Lasting Memories.

My next layout is for Freaky Fast Friday at The scrap room

My 4 " circle is a beer coaster that I'm recycling by stamping stars around the edge.
I also used papers, ribbon and tag from my Counterfeit Kit.

There is a star and music theme going on here, which highlights the enjoyment we experienced at Cirque D' soliel show.

I'm also linking this at Lasting Memories challenge where anything goes

Scraplift at Paper Issues

This week at Paper issues we are asked to scraplift this layout.
I started with a plain paper named Essence by Ruby Rock-it.
I used a journal tag from my kit plus a scrap of corrugated card and 2 patterned paper pieces from the Heidi Swapp 6x6 papers I put in my kit.

The chipboard LIVE was inked in blue to match the water in the photo.
The gold camera was also in my kit ,however the crochet flower was not, but it worked on this.
The twine wasn't in my kit but matches the star paper.

I'm nearly out of mists but splashed a few red drops on my background.

January Take 5 challenge

In my January kit I have 2 papers which are black ,white  and pink mainly, seen on the right.

Starting with those, I matted my 2 photos of silver ferns then painted around the edges to provide contrast.it dried to a silver colour. I ran white and silver ribbon across the layout.

Mystery solved! :Black, silver, paint, ribbon and 2 photos.

January kit CKC

The kit we are asked to counterfeit is
https://citrustwistkits.com/collections/scrapbooking-kits/products/christmas-stories-2019-kit-with-bundled-album
Citrus twist kit Christmas stories with bundled album

I've modified it to suit my needs, because Christmas cards I made this year used up much of my festive papers.
I've gone with reds and browns mainly.

Similarities to the original kit are :
woodgrain paper
branches or sprigs on paper
doileys
bookpaper
writing on paper (mine says family)
trees/timber theme
checked paper
red

Here's my kit separated into 3 smaller kits with explanation.
The first part is my Christmas left overs, there's a 6x6 pad plus some red papers some with shimmer, silver leaves,a few chipboard words and small tags.

I also found these canvas shapes that I have misted with red, although some absorbed more colours than others. I can use them on layouts, tags or cards.

The next part I was thinking of New Years Eve photos. I've included some vibrant swirly papers, musical paper and clocks plus the book paper (similar to the original kit)

Part 3 was inspired by the reindeers and trees in the original kit.
I've gone with a timber woodland theme.
This is the first kit of the 3 that I put together.
There is woodtone, checked paper, small branches, script writing saying family paper.
I added chipboard branches which I can cut to suit my page, distressed look tags, and some cork and white alphas.
I searched high and low for a woodland animal but only came up with a donkey.
(Christmas connection I guess! )

My other alphas are neutral rather than red, so I can use them with any of the three  kits.
I'll add washi tape, ribbon and buttons as necessary.
I also have red mist which might make an appearance.

Yes, it is quite a departure from the original, but will suit Christmas/New Year in Australia photos.
