Artastic is in the pink

The challenge on Artastic this month is Summer morning by Rupert Bunny. It required lots of shades of pink, pink roses and a white bird.I tried to achieve the shabby chic effect in my layout by using a prima vine and some antique lace. The gingham background paper helped too.I found little pink bows, some gingham,to embellish plus a parrot from my pirate layout.Overall I'm pleased with how this one turned out.

Return of a favourite and A2z entry

Here's my entry for A2Z scraplets September sketch challenges. I've just squeaked in with this one as it closes today.I inked the flowers cut from music and red cardstock to match the blue. Luckily I had the happy birthday ribbon as this was the journalling space.
Also I have just noticed that white with one is back.I love doing their challenges so will be contributing to their site again.
Today I've been sewing fabric flowers from off cuts of a dress.I plan to use those on a layout soon too.
My stint as design team member at From Screen to scrap finishes today. It has been immense fun and in some ways a learning curve.Above all,it has pushed my scrapping to different heights.

Latest sketch at Inspired blueprints

Here is my take on sketch 56 at Inspired Blueprints.

We visited Changi Memorial chapel where you can pin messages on a noticeboard in memory of World War 2 prisoners who suffered there. Each one was very sad to read.Japanese people leave origami cranes as symbols of peace.i printed off pictures of cranes as my embellishments.

Starting school at "scrap that poetry"

Scrap that poetry's latest challenge is to scrap the first day of school.
This was Erica's. I found paper that matched her uniform almost exactly and used a paper doll to embellish as well as the tag featuring the details. It was a family event.....great to look back on! She is nearly 24 now.

Always wanted to be a mermaid at Stuck!

I've had this little mermaid paper since I first started scrapping 9 years ago.I thought I'd never use it. Stuck! sketches this month had one photo with a cluster of items in the corner so I flipped the sketch and this fitted.Erica was swimming in the Aegean Sea on Rhodes Greece and I reflected back to when she was a little girl and idolised Aerial, the little mermaid. She was soooo wrapped in her that she wanted to be a mermaid. This is why I called my layout that.

Out of the hat

The criteria this month for out of the hat was 4 buttons,a border strip and journalling with the title in it.
During my holiday in Singapore I visited Fort Sentosa. We were the only 2 people in the whole place,it was kind of spooky.
In this particular room they had recreated the surrender to the japanese, using wax figures. As you walk into the room it triggers off a button which makes the figures speak. I was soooo frightened by it.The little envelope on the right contains my ticket for Fort Sentosa.
