Feeling Sketchy

As you are noticing, I'm ploughing through my Counterfeit and using up items on both layouts and cards.
This is the sketch at Feeling Sketchy.

I have used some crochet lace and a slide mount on my card.
Instead of winding ribbon around the slide mount I thought the small FWAB vine looked good.
It goes with the background. I finished it off with an enamel dot.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge- Lucky

http://another-freaking-scrappy-challenge.blogspot.com.au/ has a challenge this month to use the word "lucky".

My word lucky is very thin gold foil lettering. AS I put it through the Xyron to make it stick, the curl on the c disappeared. Be assured it does say Lucky.

Now I've cleared that up, I'll describe my layout.
The outside frame is cut from the Graphic 45 paper that I used to make my easel card.
The centre paper is the B side of an American crafts paper also in my Counterfeit Kit.

Someone described my kit as "organic". This layout definitely is.
I started with the large FWAB vine. I added 5 flowers from my kit to the branches.
The background was made by first dribbling spray mist through a spotted mask.
The blobs are different sizes but I like that.
Next, I used a circular floral stamp (from my kit) randomly on my page.
I then used white gesso through a mask (dotted again).
The apricot doiley matched the frame.
My final addition is the 3 butterflies.Voila! a mixed media layout :)

The photo is a garden at Vanuatu in our resort which greeted us on our way to breakfast.

Cardz 4 Guyz

At Cardz4guyz they want the letter A.
I had a journaling card featuring apples as well as an apple sticker.

My sentiment says "The Best Ever".
A general purpose card for men or perhaps for a male teacher.

Shopping our stash.

I like joining in this challenge when I can http://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com.au/
It makes you use up leftovers or random things you have in your stash.

This week's theme is a card for an older boy or a man.
I had the paper featuring boom boxes.
Last week I won another challenge and was sent a collection of words, one of them was shine.
It goes well with this card & can be used as a congratulations or coming of age card.

The 2 stickers of the pointing hand and the star are from my counterfeit kit.

Forgeries on the 4th.-Crochet flower tutorial

I'm sure I have shown this before with paper, but for the purposes of my Counterfeit kit...

First cut medallions from an old crochet doiley
Each flower takes 2 of these.

Cut one medallion in half.
With each half fold the straight edges into the centre making a small cone shape.
Put a stitch in the raw edges to hold them together.
Sew them on to another medallion at opposite sides to each other.

At this stage leave the thread attached..........
Now choose a fancy button to stitch through the centre of your flower.
I've made better ones but you get the idea!

I used this on a layout below.

This idea can also be used with paper punched circles.
If the folded edges face up and are repeat layered you will make something like this one by Heather Gibbs that I found on Pinterest.

now on to Stuck?! Sketches for April

Stuck sketches

and here's a layout about me and using that flower.

I used the lines on the side instead of journaling under the photo.
My title is girl, which is why that tag is completely white =to stand out.

123 challenge-White&silver,peaceful & flowers

Join in the challenge at 123 challenges.

My layout for April. There is a silver strip behind the title, plus inca gold in silver colour on the square frame ans silver sequins on the lace flowers(subtle)

and a close up of the inca gold on the frame. I used it randomly to get an antique look.

Paris layout.

My layout, today, is using 2 photos of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
They were taken from a boat ride on the Seine River.
At school we studied Notre Dame and the famous "flying buttresses".
Up close they were spectacular to say the least.

My spotted paper is Lawn Fawn "Strawberry Polka".
The other paper is from Ruby Rock-it.
My giant tag was made from packaging.(I think it was Basic Grey),so I'm recycling.
I've tucked a crochet flower under the torn paper with another black flower on top.
The ribbon at the tag top is the neutral one again.
The cork geotags added a final neutral touch.
