One layer simplicity challenge.

Tim Holtz distress embossing powder leaves a soft felt like finish instead of a shiny one.
I have used a very old frame stamp that I have with red ink then used the embossing powder to make this card. I wanted a Valentines day themed card but not overtly so.

I'm entering this in One Layer simplicity challenge.

Mojo Monday #331 and Feeling Sketchy.

The challenge at Mojo Monday this week is a Valentines day challenge.
The sketch for it is on the right.
I've used items from my Counterfeit Kit to make this card.
Kraft cardstock, book paper, red twine where the ribbon crosses diagonally,3 Heidi Swapp ghost heats and a Kaiser rub on that says "Two souls in one. Two hearts in one heart" make up this card.
Here is my effort.

Obviously both are intended for Valentines day.

 

A Tattered Angels layout.

I'm attending a scrapping weekend in Canberra soon, hosted by Tattered Angels.
On their facebook page they've had several challenges, but I just haven't had time to get there yet.
Finally, today, I've used some of my Counterfeit Kit plus other items to do this layout.

The challenge was to use blue and yellow plus a summer photo,3 buttons, lace and a Tattered Angels item.(The cameo)

The 3 backing papers are all from my February Counterfeit Kit.

Seize the birthday and other cards

The challenge at Seize the Birthday is to use chevrons.

I've made a card for a little girl I know who is turning 5 and she is such a cute kid.
Consequently I've gone with the sentiment "What a cutie".
It is on a pleated rosette from Dear Lizzie,
The strip of stripes is MME papers and the background is Kaisercraft.
I've added some bling because a girl needs bling, right?

 

While I was there I also made these 2 cards using my Counterfeit Kit.

 

and this one using the Francheville packaging from a set of alphas.

There was already a hole in the card so I've cleverly made it a feature of this card.

The smaller flower peeps through the hole when the card is closed.

 

I'm having fun making cards lately and they are selling well in school staffrooms.

Show us your stuff

The February challenge at Show us your stuff is to use the quote "Follow your heart and happiness will follow".
I've chosen to use a photo of my sister at age 20.
She was quite a fashionista with the Isadora scarf and the lace dress.

On my layout, which is evenly matted on a red background, I've used a fabric doiley with embroidery.
There is a Grace Taylor flower I made using layers of separate flowers.
A vellum pocket for journaling has the heart on the front.
The D-Lish bottle cap has twine wound behind it in the flower shape (my hand made item).

 

 

Ugly sweater layout. Challenge #1

I've used this sketch from "Let's get sketchy" to compose my layout for Counterfeit Kits.
The sketch was turned on its side.
We are asked to make a layout about an ugly sweater.

In my case it is an ugly vest that I knitted myself!
Back in the 1970s,the decade of ridiculous fashion, I knitted this sleeveless vest using wide stripes of gold/brown and green. I wore it with blouses or jumpers underneath and thought I looked pretty "groovy."
When I met my husband he had a vest knitted by his Mum in the same colour combination.

To me now the vest just looks wrong.

 

I used a Amy tangerine paper from American crafts as my background. The photo mat is the same paper in a different colour. Down the side I've used strips (offcuts) of co-ordinating papers.

For the splashes I used punched flowers.

I've taken a photo and uploaded instead of scanning.

It looks slightly wonky but it isn't.

Shopping our stash

Several months ago I pulled apart an old picture dictionary.
I kept some of the pictures including this one of people playing cricket.
The shopping our stash challenge asked for something outdoorsy.
I've made a card to congratulate a good cricketer in our family.
The background paper resembles grass and the sentiment says "amazing".
Along each end I've used Adorn it sticker borders.
